Did you flash the journal on zip immediately after flashing the rom?

Odin a modem...any modem...should solve your issue
sent from my epic 4g. with the key skips.

If it just won't make calls and stuff, try updating profile and then PRL. If it is FC'ing all over do a factory data reset, reflash the ROM and kernel, flash the journal on zip as John suggested, then redownload apps. Do not restore any data unless you are sure it is good and absolutely need it.

i cant make calls, text, internet, nothing , so i cant update the prl or profile. whats the journal? im fairly new to this ive been rooted and on the custom roms for a few months now.how do you do a factory reset.? this blows i gotta get it up and running. i appreciate the advice from all

You don't have a baseband...nothing will work until you get a modem onto it. Your going to have to use odin

You definitely cannot use the same root for Epic 4g touch as Galaxy S2, they have 2 different kernels. Can you get into download mode? Take battery out, put back in, and hold down power button and down button at same time. If you can get it into download mode, you can find the correct rootkit and redo.

You do have the Epic 4g Touch. Sprint just decided to play long with the renaming since this phone is going out to multiple carriers now.
HOPEFULLY you did NOT flash the international kernel on your phone, it's still functional and you can still get into download mode.
If you can, then you need to flash a complete odin one click and get back to "normal"..

Please see my last quote, I said to disregard the file. At the beginning of his quotes, he said he had the files for epic 4g touch and that it was wrong, and then he verified that it was correct, so I said to ignore.

[Q] Which Roms for T989 on Simple Mobile?

What's up guys! Resident tech guru here in desperate need of your assistance. I finally got the chance to see my friend again after he'd been going through some personal issues and was devastated to find out that he was not at all happy with his Samsung S2. I ,of course, chimed in and told him all about xda dev and the awesome things you guys do everyday. So now he wants me to flash a new rom onto his device that will make his phone seem brand new. The problem is that his phone is on Simple Mobile and I don't know if I can just flash any rom and still be able to connect to his carrier's network.
1. I guess what I need is a link on how exactly to flash a t989 (I think I found this but not sure if the instructions I found are still relevant) in 2014.
2. Which rom is the most current and compatible with simple mobile.(Not having too much luck on my own)
3. Is there anything I can do after the flash to make sure that his info will be sync'd back to his phone correctly?
4. How can I backup the current state of his phone just to make sure that I have a safety net?
1. If you have a t989....any ROM here will work. Just may need to debloat some stuff with titanium backup.
2. All will work. What's best is up to the user. Everyone has a different opinion....no point in asking.
3. Bad idea. Restoring system apps or data is a big no no. User apps and data you could use titanium backup. Transfer the back up folder to PC to be sure it doesn't get wiped. Then back to phone after. Have to be rooted before and after tho.
4. Root first, flash custom recovery and do a nandroid backup. Then continue. Just don't erase internal SD, or its gone.
Good luck!
---------- Post added at 02:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:22 PM ----------
There's no guarantees any of his info will be saved tho. Transfer pics and important things to PC first to be safe.
thanks KJ, i figured that the process would be straight forward I really just wanted to be sure that i could reconnect to simple mobile's network afterwards.

At worst you'd need to alter or add your APN settings.

HELP!!

So I flashed my phone back to stock. Accepted the OTA for 5.1.1. Today I took my phone off of my charger it went into a boot loop for some reason and wont come out. factory data reset and cache clear don't help. Samsung rep at best buy doesn't have 0g5 yet to flash. Does anyone know how to get a hold of the ODIN files to reflash my phone. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Not really sure whats going on over on that thread. So let me give you my comprehension of it. So my phone cannot be rooted with 5.1.1. So my question becomes how do I flash TWRP? Also, if I can enable TWRP can I flash CM 12.1? I am not up and running quite yet.
Thanks
So I tried fixing this beast at 2 am when I got home lol everything was a blur and I really was tired from work so nothing made sense. I just reread the thread and tried it. CM 12.1 IS UP AND RUNNING>>>>THANK YOU ALL SOO MUCH!!!

GT-N7100 bricked device , possibly 'sds'

Helllo all,
i just received a Note 2 from a friend that suddenly stopped working.
It is a standard Note 2 early version (international model), no mods, no root.
when it is on usb charge , it shows the battery , with a non animating circle.
when i turn it on, it shows the white boot samsung logo text, GT N7100, and stays frozen there.
when i boot into factory recovery mode, i get a lot of red text with several mount failures, ending into the recovery menu
when i boot into Odin download mode, i can see the model name after the product name.
what i have tried so far:
per directions on samsung site, i have downloaded latest samsung usb drivers, Odin v 3.10.7 that should work with my version factory rom (TNL-N7100XXUFNI2-20141105083621).
the device is found by Odin (blue com line), the rom is loaded and sum checked in Odin, the write procedure Fails => NAND write fail.
then i thought ok, maybe the NAND is screwed up (as i seen in the red text), and found some sites talking about fixing the invalid arguments, as shown in this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-LZvVLEC5o
I installed ADB, boot the phone into recovery.
With ADB list device , i can not find the phone
however when i choose in the phone: update through ADB
then i can list the device in ADB, but as sideload device.
there for i can not perform the rewrite procedure as shown in the video.
i am kinda stuck here, and do not know how sever the BRICK is.
and what way i should use to unbrick it, if that is still possible.
any suggestions/help would be appreciated
First of all: IT IS NOT SDS.
Second: You have done a couple of things that make no sense.
Either you didn't read the instructions on the vid or didn't understand:
The method shown needs either a booting device or a custom recovery
Third: There are a bunch of options to try
*Factory reset in stock recovery made?
*Recover device through Samsung Kies 3
*Flash OC1 firmware through Odin (I have no idea what you have linked above, can't open)
Hi Androidwizzard, what makes you sure that it is not SDS ?
# factory reset in stock recovery doesn't work => mount failures
# kies can not connect to the device, while it is not booted?
i tried to connect in recovery mode and download mode, nothing worked.
# i did try to flash device through odin with (OC1?) => NAND write fail
i didn't link to any file, it was just the name of the official ROM file. But if you wish to see a link , it is this:

Soft bricked device is no SDS - so simple
Only on 4.1.1 original firmware AND the insane chip too SDS is possible and by no means sure.
Kies is able to connect to unbooted device - I have tested a view times - a matter of driver maybe and it must be turned on.
The linked firmware is for t-mobile Netherland and you have that provider and you are from there?
# Only on 4.1.1 original firmware AND the insane chip too SDS is possible and by no means sure.

driver and software are installed ok, laptop is clean , the problem is the device.
# The linked firmware is for t-mobile Netherland and you have that provider and you are from there?
obviously yes, the person from who the phone is has that provider and yes we are there...
@Androidwizzard have you ever had experience with EFS mount failures?
that occur out of nowhere, with simple daily use ?
Yes, I have and flashed newest firmware through Odin - needed more than one attempt but at the end success.
One time I used Kies3 to restore.
