Forgive me if this had been adked or explained before... the search function in the xda app is only gigving me results for custom roms... no matter what I search for... but that's besides the point.
Lately there has been a lot of apps in the market that have been saying that they are incompatible with my device, but the work on my wifes phone (original cliq not rooted) and my moms gtablet (vegantab7rc1), I'm running a cm7 nightly ( I forget which one it was around the 1st of september) I have changed my lcd density to 200... would that be the reason why?
And insight would help, thanks

If the app can run on a Cliq, your phone will have no problem running it. I'm sure its something happening that the Market is identifying your device as a "Generic HTC phone" or something of the sort, and doesn't necessarily know the specs. I've flashed many many ROMs in my time and the Market identifies each one differently, I've just stopped paying attention.
The Market isn't stopping you from downloading the apps, is it?
The market prevent's us from downloading it.

yeah, if i side load it, it runs fine, the market isnt allowing me to download it, and according to my market settings... it identifies my phone as a tmobile g2... so maybe the market is broken...
Does your device by any chance have a different LCD density then the androids default 240? If so this is your problem. this happens with mine and my brothers G2, if the G2 has a different LCD density then 240 the new market, and only the new market (not the old one), will say some apps are incompatible. Try making sure you have the default lcd density set and reboot then retry downloading the app. The only way ive found to keep your custom lcd density AND be able to download any app is to revert back to the old android market.
I have the same issue. No change in lcd density. But any rom I use that is CM7 based has some issue with an app being incompatible. CM7 nightly said Facebook was not compatible. SuperCM7 says Evernote, MexDroid said Youtube.
I don't know what is wrong. I don't know if it has anything to do with the build.prop. I did change the prop to use Netflix. But I don't know if that is really an issue, since all roms seem to have this fixed and have there own build.props.
Over all, I am at a loss. Superwipe does nothing...factory reset did nothing. Any Rom that I've used has had some issues with compatiblity

the following two parameters in build.prop are responsible for the market identification
ro.build.description
ro.build.fingerprint
i used the latest stock rom values and it works very well with MIUI
Can you post the stock values please so I don't have up download the ROM
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Hold on... I'm downloading the stock rom and will extact the build.prop. I want to know too because I keep having to install Market 2.3.3 everytime lol! Its pointless to describe the solution without the full answer... sheesh!
Here ya go! Let us know if it works okay It's straight from T-Mobile USA Gingerbread build so it should work fine...
ro.build.description=2.15.531.3 CL82286 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=tmobile/htc_vision/vision:2.3.4/GRJ22/82286:user/release-keys
I didn't post the values because I don't know them for the G2 stock rom
the (stock roms) market identification for G2 and DZ is different and I only know the DZ ones

Pulled the apk from the Desire Z dump and tried to run it on my G2 but it failed , Wondering what else i would need to get this to work
i don't think it will work just like that. you need a lot of sense or such to make it work that's why it never made its way to cyanogenmod .. miui guys from japan know how to do it but i don't think they want to tell how to do it.
You can't run any sence app on anything besides the rosie launcher. You can sometimes install it but it won't work, the app is written deep in the framework.

Kernel most likely doesn't support it.

Something is definitely missing
Just to see what I got, I downloaded the attached APK and used adb to install it, and then ran “adb logcat” while trying to launch it. The result is that it force closes right away, and from the output of logcat it looks like it is definitely missing some sort of libraries.
I'd post the thing but it's huge. Essentially, though, it winds up crashing because it expects something to be present that isn't; that's likely this sense thing that others have mentioned.
I suggest reading (and following along with) the thread in the Nexus One forum about getting FM Radio going on that phone. My guess is that whatever those guys come up with should also allow FM Radio on the G2 once it becomes possible to modify the G2 kernel to get the relavent drivers running.
Like its been mentioned it usually requires sense and the kernel to support it. Only the sense roms on the nexus one could use it. Not a developer at all but from what I understand so far, it is what is required.

it's working on the n1.. i assume you will need root to use it so if u plan not to root then don't expect to see it. for now thanks miui for the help.
Isn't the FM Radio a system app? That means that we won't be able to use it until we have write access to /system. So if you want to be able to even install it properly, you need to wait until we have root. From there we have to disassemble and find all the dependencies on the sense framework and port them back in. Also, I am sure that you'll need to use some of the corresponding libs.
can be loaded onto any rom.
Be careful. If I'm not mistaken xda treats posting swype as warez since it is licensed software. Not sure how this works since the G2 is licensed to have swype. I would like to have swype on the sense Rom as well...
I want swype on betterkeyboard. Give me the best of both worlds.
Believe it or not, that's one of the main reasons I don't want to fully switch to Sense. I'm absolutely loving Swype.

I've been on sense since evil dropped his flashable .zip. so far its amazing, but losing swype and battery drains are bothering me. Can't wait till 6.1!! Hopefully rc1 comes out this week.
Is Sense incompatible with Swype? If I loaded the Sense ROM, can I drop the Swype apk that came with the G2 originally back on top of it? It was one of the first things I dumped when perm root was released, knowing I'd want it on other ROMs.

I have been trying to get it to work, but it just force closes. The g2 is licensed to have swype, but apparently the DZ is not. I was able to load a working version found online, but once opened it says trial has ended please upgrade...

I actually have a working version of swype that will work on Sense. Well it worked on my Nexus Ones Sense.
I know the rules are pretty strict here regarding giving out the APK but come on people our devices are licensed with it so we already basically bought a copy of the software when we bought the phone >.>
Swype is not allowed to be posted onto XDA.....if you need to re-install it sign up on their site for the installer.
i was just wondering if its completely working for you guys? i can load up the video but all i get is audio but no actual video
if you havent grabbed it yet https://market.android.com/details?id=com.netflix.mediaclient
same here. running CM7 nightly.
On CM 7.0.3 and also get no video, it also just backs out from streaming after a few seconds.

Audio but not video for me as well. CM7 nightly.
Same here, CM 7.03, audio for a few seconds, no video, then app restarts.
Anyone stock able to get the app running? I have it working on a Nexus One, also with CM7
Ugh, not available in Canada, of course
Works perfectly using Virtuous Fusion.

It runs perfectly on a non rooted G2. I don't think Netflix is compatitable with cm7 or cm7 based roms.

The Netflix app seems to work perfect on my N1 CM 7.0.0 RC2 but does not work correctly on my G2 CM 7.0.1 and gets some choppy audio and no video which then crashes to Netflix menu.
It worked fine on my stock G2 rom. It doesn't work on CM7. I think it may have to do with the device name. On my netflix account it shows "HTC T-Mobile G2" and "Android Mobile" HTC vision under device info. How can I edit my model name to try that?

I think you have to edit the build.prop, using the prop editor. I have not tried that but let us know if you try and what the outcome is.
Does anyone have a stock build.prop that they can post??

is that an app or something? I don't mind trying but don't know where to start.
Found the build.prop under /system I can edit it using a txt editor, remount /system rw paste it there? Will that work? Don't have access to a comp right now.
Did all of that. The T-Mobile my account app now works. But not netflix. Something has to work. netflix sees my phone as a G2 now I get the same few seconds of audio then exit. Now swype wont work for some reason.
Not working for me either on miui 1.5.6 v5.5 ganiis build...
Tried gettin latest flash, uninstalling, reinstalling.. nothing.. I get like 7 seconds of audio.. shows 2 seconds streaming.. then fc and back to netflix menu... godamnit.. I was so happy for this....
Ill be watchin this thread for a fix. I have faith in xda.

No go either on G2... I get 5 seconds of audio no video then closes it self back to netflix menu :/
Any fixes or ideas yet??
Someone with a G2 that got Netflix working needs to post their buildprop. People with Nexus S running CM7 did something to their buildprop to get it working and it might work for us too.

I'm not convinced it's a build.prop thing, I used my G2's build.prop to get it running on my Nook Color running CM7.0.2.

Prop editor is an app but to my knowledge it is not available on the market, unless something has changed. Do a Google search for it. I have version 3 and works great.
Just be careful about editing your prop file and make a backup just in case.
I will post my stock G2 rom build.prop when I get home from work later tonight. I've been flashing nandroids all day my battery is about to die.
Maybe it has to do with the version number of android. Since stock is 2.2 and so is Virtuous. Has anyone gave this a shot on CM6.?
anyway to get that apk file to work on other roms, Sense and or AOSP? i searched around and same people were asking same question as me but for the desire. they had no help in the thread (dated back in 2010)
What you guys think, is it possible to make it happen or is it too far fetched
I'm also having this problem with the miuimusic.apk and trying to install on synergy.

Have you tried extracting the apk and pushing it via adb or root explorer? If I'm not mistaken miui is like sense in a way, some of the core apps won't function without the launcher and main components. I mean the music app and a few others will work on other roms but main apps like phone, setting, SMS, all need the miui framework to actually work. I could be wrong but that's why no one ever mentions it because they'd rather just run miui itself.

Im sure many people have tried it but why run the sms app and not just the whole miui. It's just going to force close because its missing the other miui components. The sense mms.apk is the same way; it wont work without the HTC framework. Someone tried to get the miui sms apk working back when I had my cdma heroc and failed. Moral of the story: just run miui (which I hate lol).

Many times is happening that for my mytouch slide 3g, many apps are defined as incompatible by the android market and they are not shown in the market
For example, friendcaster is missing... while I can install it on my old G1
Many other apps that I can install on my old G1 with DONUT, does not appear on my GINGERBREAD handset
This is mad, what I can do?
edit:
the problem is the LCD density, the market does not like my setting at 140, wants the 160
How i can fake it? I don't like 160, I feel too big
I don't know if this will help, but try LCD Density app on market. It should allow you to change things up, but not sure if it will solve the problem. Nontheless, the app is free so i'd say give it a shot.
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
Yeah, i used that for temporarily lower the density to 160...
If you're on the new market (v3.x) I've heard of it glitching up and not displaying some apps. If you can, you might want to try downgrading to v2, and seeing if that fixes it, and if it does then you know the cause of the problem. Also remember that apps like adobe flash and netflix won't show up because the processor on the slide is armv6, those apps only work on newer armv7 cores.
I am using already the old market
Just I feel strange that some apps appear on the G1 with Donut, and don't appear on the slide
