Hey all,
Does anyone know how to fix rotation issues (previously a terminal emulator fix) or obtain the MSL code (connectbot and MSL reader no longer work) on gingerbread?
Thanks!

My only advice is if the ways to get your msl don't work on gb anymore than make a backup in cwm and flash back to froyo. Get your msl and then restore your backup. Shouldn't take to long.

For MSL, get the terminal emulator so you have the linux command line, and enter:
getprop ril.MSL
Worked just fine on EE03.
Thanks Nuclear, that worked fine (was case sensitive). Now for the screen rotation lag issue...

Anyone knows how to bypass the sprint activation process if one wanted to use the device on wifi only?
It would require your msl. Since no root, you'll have to get someone at sprint to give it to you.

Thanks. Can explain how do this with root (once root becomes available) and how to do it using MSL way?

I dont know if this would answer your question but airplane mode should work. Just have to enable to wifi again.
Get connectbot from the market and use it to get a local prompt on the phone. Issue getprop ril.MSL. The output should be a six digit number. That's your msl.

Thanks! that worked and i have my MSL.
Now i just need to know how to bypass the activation screen
do ##MSLHERE# on the dialer and program in a random mdn(phone number) and msid. then youll also have to connect the phone to qpst service programming and write a data profile in profile 1 space. then when phone boots up u should only have error 67 network failure real quick.. then no activation screen etc.
##8778# and set as modem to get phone into diag mode so qpst can see it. and youll need drivers too.
Ineed help getting my msl #
I'm not trying to call sprint but I know that's an option
Another is connectbot which I'm trying but msl won't seem to come up and even when I type in getprop | grep MSL it doesn't give me anything so is there any other way or maybe a differenct command on connect bot to get me my msl? And does the msl vary from phone to phone or is it from the phone number? Cuz on my old epic I got it from connectbot and that one broke so this is a replacemnt and the same number isn't working?
I remember on the last one I used connectbot and used the getprop | grep msl and it got me it but its not working now
Do I have to be connected on a certain connection or either of the 3 ( 3g, 4g, wifi) works?

Like the title says: I'm not receiving incoming calls while I'm surfing the net.
I'm fully stock running Gingerbread EL29, 2.3.6
What's causing this and how can i fix it?
You might get a quicker answer in the Q&A forum. How are you surfing the web? 3G, 4G, Wifi?? Or is it on any connection?

Pretty much any connection.
Love the et4g but if I cant receive phone calls then.....
You should be getting internet as long a you browse using 4G or WIFI. Calls are made through 3G and 3G only allows one or the other.
Good luck!

Sorry, when I said "Calls are made through 3G and 3G only allows one or the other." I meant that you can only do one or the other at a given time through the 3G connection. As long as 4G or WIFI is enabled you can do both simultaneously.

Not real sure how to help you if you are running stock. You shouldnt be missing calls while surfing the web. You might could try updating your PRL and Profile. Otherwise, talk to Sprint.
When a call comes in and you are on a data connection, you have the choice of the call interrupting the data connection or being sent to voice mail.
The DDTM (Dedicated Data Transmission Mode) entry controls which behavior you get. DDTM on means data has priority and voice gets sent to voice mail. DDTM off means voice will interrupt your data connection.
To change the setting go to ##DATA# and edit the EVDO entry.
You'll need your MSL to edit (getprop ril.MSL)
Settings/call settings/DDTM its there too, uncheck it.
It is great they exposed the setting on this phone. Some phones hide it for some unknown reason.
Open a terminal.. type:
Getprop ril.MSL
Open dialer. Dial:
##3282#
Click on EVDO. Make sure DDTM is enabled.

Thank you! This did the trick while surfing the web through 3G.
THank you for all responses. This is such a responsive and helpful community.
Question: I just got an Epic 4G Touch a couple days ago. I am rooted on stock EL29. When I run Getprop ril.MSL in terminal emulator I get just a blank line. If I just run Getprop, I don't see ril.MSL or any mention of MSL anywhere in that massive list of data.

Same thing with the samsung keyboard, just returns a blank line. MSL nowhere to be found when running just getprop either.

MSL Reader in the market doesn't work, says it's just for HTC devices. Unless there's another one, but I only see one MSL reader when searching for it.
EDIT: Actually, just got it to work by using swype and typing exactly "getprop ril.MSL". I thought I tried it that way before, but guess not. I was typing it "Getprop ril.MSL" as it was posted previously in this thread.
Thanks for the help.

As you discovered it is case sensitive. Most of the time people get it wrong because one of the keyboards auto capitalizes the "I" in "ril" without people noticing. Also it won't show up in the generic list when you just type getprop.
