I found that most of these that work on the Epic work on our Epic 4g Touch. Just in case anyone needs them for any reason Download terminal emulator from the market and use "getprop ril.MSL" to get your MSL. http://forums.androidcentral.com/sprint-epic-4g/34715-samsung-epic-dialer-codes.html
Do we need to be rooted to do this?

nope, at most you need your MSL

Anybody know if one of these can be used to load an alternate PRL? If so none of them seem obvious....would really love to know this.

I could not get the getprop ril.msl to display my MSL but I got it from sprint, if you want to load a PRL see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267893
aside from contacting sprint has anyone gotten their msl on this phone? None of the known methods I've used in the past are working.
Tried the method in the OP and it couldn't have been any easier.
Thanks!

Are the MSL codes unique per phone? Just wondering if all the S2 use the same one?

yeah each phone has its own msl
The terminal method works. It is case sensitive. So you have to type: getprop ril.MSL

Worked perfect, thanks!
This one doesn't seem to be working:
*#INFO*1111# - Testing
I even tried several variations, to no avail. Anyone got this one working? I particularly want to use it to view wakelocks on my device. Thanks!
Thanks for bringing it to peoples attention.
I just used ##GPSCLRX# and it looks to be helping my GPS work much better.

A lot of these appear to be disabled. The code clears after you enter it like it does on the good ones, but then nothing happens. *#0*# is one of these.

Hello,
I have a blue 32GB GS3 Sprint. Was fumbling around trying to use various techniques for obtaining MSL via software, and failing. Question I have are:
Has anyone else have a 32GB GS3 and had success reading MSL?
Does the various methods out there only work on the 16GB version? Does anyone know?
Report your findings here. Im curious to know what specifics.

If your having issues getting your MSL open the dialer and dial
##DATA#
Click on Edit. Enter a wrong MSL, any combo of numbers. It'll fail
Then open Terminal Emulator and type the getprop command

Works +1 thanks for you.
You can also do the same steps and use the app getmymsl from google play instead of using the terminal. Just thought id throw that out there for people that arent that comfy messing with the terminal.

Google Chris41g epic4g boost. Answer is there.
If that doesn't work follow the directions on that result. They work.

tried that too.. still no dice..i also read somewhere changing the spc to 000000 might help, but no dice with doing that either. I also read somewhere that when updating to jb 4.1.2 it killed the 16 digit code, but reverting back to 4.1.1 or 4.0.1 brought it back. So im going to try that next.. ill update, thanks garwynn
Just to update.. Yes flashing back to ICS fixed the problem i was able to use default samsung pw. Weird how this doesn't work on JB 4.1.2

Just tried and *#0# doesn't do anything on the GS4. There's a different code to get into the "service menu" on the GS4

I was wondering if anyone new any way to obtain the 6 digit/ msl code? I have tried calling sprint and doing online chat and they seem to not be able to see anything. I have also tried connectbot, msl reader, and the emulator app. Thanks in advance.
What rom are you on. I believe toichwiz 4.3 has an issue getting msl. So you might want to try it on 4.1.2
