Usb storage app - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright, so I came from my palm centro. There was an app the bypassed having to install the drivers, and showed it as a generic flash drive. Can I do that with android? Installing the samsung drivers is a pain if its not your computer
edit: this should probably go into the apps forum...mods please move

Idk I plugged my phone into my friends comp who uses htc so has no amsungdrivers and the drivers automatically installed...I just wanted a quick charge but I went on a flashing spree when it installed everythingby itself lol

[SOLVED] Clean install...now what?

I did a clean install of windows 7, ad now I can't recognize ADB drivers or use ADB, what do I do...I DID google it already, but all it said was to reinstall drivers...but I have the unrevoked drivers on there and dont know if I should just reinstall them?
Thanks
Unreevoked drivers are for rooting
Don't you need the HTC sync drivers for adb

Did you reinstall Android SDK?

Yeah I reinstalled. Won't htc sync drivers remove root?
No. What phone do you have? Not 2nd guessing you, but it sounds like an issue with SDK setup.

HTC Incredible, and I ran SDK intsaller and DL'd EVERYTHING that showed up.
I am rooted, running redemptive rEVOlution...could that be the issue that its based off the evo framework?
Did you place it on root of primary drive, if so check how it is named.(Spelling, caps, ect.) Also make sure you place it in path. I understand your frustration, but don't let it get to you. It makes small things easy to overlook. Any changes to the phone? Make sure you have usb debugging turned on.

What's your current setup? Are you rooted? What ROM are u running? Kernel? You might need to restore the file u deleted. Also, make sure Samsung drivers are installed on ur laptop, try using a different USB cable, different USB ports, etc.

Try holding the home button and hit task manager, from there try to see if you can get to the market or even a web browser and you need to download a new launcher like launcherpro or another helauncher

You can flash this in clockwork and put it back:

HELP! USB no longer works! Broke my phone!

I have an Xperia Arc S with rooted Sony ICS on it.
Please help! I can no longer get USB to work. I uninstalled some apps in Titanium Backup without backing up first (idiot) and I then installed a custom SystemUI.apk (bigger idiot). I rebooted and no longer have the bar at the top of the screen. If I connect the USB cable nothing happens! I want to do a repair but can't get Windows to see it!
EDIT: I plugged it into my laptop and it's detected and installed PC Companion. I am trying a repair right now. Hopefully it should be OK. :/

See you are nearly there with repair of the phone. As a way of testing if USB is working can you charge it via plug socket if yes then USB is not broken, just a bad driver on pc.

Download FlashTool and the firmware you want to flash and flash it.
Also I recommend you to use my tutorial + list on how to remove junk apps to keep your phone 100% working

Thanks guys. I already followed that list before the mishap. Not sure if it was anything on that list that caused it. I think it was defo the systemUI.apk change. I was trying to get the facy taskbar with the enable/disable buttons on the Arc S (the APK is for the Arc which may be why it b0rked). I don't know why Windows on this PC decided not to recognise it but after a reboot it now detects it fine (But I have just repaired it and reinstalled all my apps + root).
I need to get CWM on it really (I'm a bit scaredy cat to hack the bootloader) so I can just do flashes from SD card. I think I will leave well enough alone for now though.
The apps I have backed up and uninstalled are Let's Golf. OfficeSuite. FUN&Downloads. Update Center. Wisepilot. Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited.
Are all of these safe to remove? I can do a restore if needed.
The other things running in the background that are bugging me are Custom settings. SecureClockService (what are these?) and CrashMonitor (Is it really OK to kill that?). Plus of course SIM service and Google services which I take it I need.
Maybe I should take this to that thread you pointed out to me.
Uninstall all those apks
Theres a list of all apps which you can remove
Check general forums

hey guys,
I just removed some preinstalled crap on my LG Optimus One e.g Tetris, Twitter etc but now i can't connect via usb to my computer. It charges fine.

USB tethering cm7 problem

Hi all..I'm using CM 7 prozor rom and windows XP in my comp. Now I'm unable to connect net via USB tethering.. with stock rom I had no problems but now its not connecting are all.tried HTC sync both installed and un installed., USB debugging on and off. Searched but no answer anywhere..so plz tell me how to make it work..if some drivers are required then plz give me the link where I can find them ..thanks in advance ....

CM7 rom and all roms made on it as a source allow USB tethering only on Win7, and maybe Vista. For Win XPyou need separate application on your PC and your phone. The most used one is Easy Tather that you can download from Play Store. However, with free version you're not allowed to access https (secured) sites and a few more things.
I found a pro version (some older one but I don't mind) over filestube thar fully works.
Thank u...it solved my prblm. But still Is there anyway to tether directly without the app?

ADB

For some reason I can't get my note 2 to show up on ADB. I have sdk/platform-tools installed from google and tried with the google usb driver installed and uninstalled. I do have the Samsung drivers installed that I needed to root the device and that went very well using Odin. If anyone can give me ideas. Yes, Settings -> Developer options -> checked "ON" and then checked USB debugging is enabled.
I have been successful in getting all my Evos to show up in the past without too much effort so I feel really dumb asking.

Gotta install the Samsung Drivers. Use the toolkit to install if you don't wanna search for the file.

Thanks viper. I had Samsung drivers installed but guess wrong ones. Hard coming from htc and learning all this new Samsung stuff. Not regretting it though!
