[Q] How do I install custom Sense 3.0 lock rings into LeeDroid v3.3.3 ? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
I'm a newcomer to the rooting experience and I've successfully got my Desire (Classic) running on LeeDroid's beautifully done 3.3.3 ROM with Sense 3.0 installed.
I would like to install one of the custom lock rings that are available from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134818
Despite claiming that it can work for LeeDroid ROMs I've been so far unsuccessful and that it keeps installation failed after
I've only so far been successful in installing the stock ring file from the ROMs thread itself.
Is there any way I can alter that installer with the images of these rings?
Thanks and much appreciated.

Just had a look at the thread you put down. You do realise the thread is for Desire HD and Inspire 4G, not the good old plain Desire...

I was partially suspecting that. Thanks for confirming it
Is it possible to change the lock ring for this ROM on the original Desire?
If Lee can provide a separate installer to flash the original lock ring over his LeeDroid ring, I'm sure there are ways to get custom rings into them.

Download an app called " Agile lock " from the market

Hi All!!
Sorry for my English
I already install LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.3-Port-R5, with Sense 3.0 add-ons, but I have trouble with settings of lockscreen with ring - I can't change apps on lockscreen.
The same problem described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16578094&postcount=3228
I read almost all thread, but can't find there what is solution of this problem. Somebody can help me, or show where i can read about solution?

[Q] Several Questions about mods etc

I just got my desire HD a few days ago. But have been visiting this site from some time back. Now i wanna load a custom mod on my phone. However there are several questions which i am stuck at. :|
1) What is the difference between the "Android Revolution HD 3.2 mod[ARHD]" and "Cynagenmod"?
2)Is rooting required? If yes, could anyone help me how to please.
3)In the Themes and Apps section i seen that many themes had the [CM7] tag. Im assuming this is for the cyanogenmod, but will it work on the "ARHD" also?
4)Most of the mods installation asks for S-off or so. What is it? :
5)What is flashing?
and lastly
6)Whats the difference between Sense UI and no-sense UI? [im thinking it includes/excludes the default htc sense.]
As i am new at these things too, i will try to answer some of your questions.
1. Cyanogenmod is based on AOST source, which is main android source, while Revolution, LeeDrOID and rest are based on HTC source.
2. To be able to flash cooked ROM your Desire HD needs to be rooted.
Full step-by-step guide is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11557769
3. Themes for one ROM might work on other, but are not recommended.
4. Check the guide in point 2.
5. Same as above.
6. I think you got that right.
I hope i helped you a bit.Cheers

Some of the mods are made specificaly for a ROM. The tag describes what ROM they are designed for. Rooting and S-OFF is requred for installation of a custom ROM, so yes, it's required for the mods also. You should probably ask the mod developer if his mod is compatable with another ROM, but I think CM7 being Gingerbread and ARHD3.2 being Froyo, the chances are slim. S-OFF is "Security OFF". HTC introduced a level of security which was supposed to make the system "read only" for anyone but them to prevent custom ROMs, kernels and ultimately - overclocking, which potentialy can damage your device. Luckily thy didn't do a good job on that, so the developers found a workaround. Flashing is writing a new ROM, kernel or a set of system files in your phone. And lastly, you are correct about the sense/non-sense stuff.
You can find good guides in the developement section about rooting, S-OFF (both radio and eng), flashing ROMs, etc. Bear in mind though that if your software version is 1.72, you'll have to downgrade first to get to the rootable 1.32
First of all thanks for the help.
I suppose flash means to install. Also the guide you gave me tells how to put s-off but i wanted to know what does s-off mean??

Custom Roms are there to help and inprove the things...
Overclocking is running an hardware to something which it was not designed for...So it could harm the phone (Does not mean that it always does, there are guys who are running the overclock phone without problem).
Custom Roms are just the installed ROM so if you flash one rom and don't like it replace it with another one..before flashing read the instruction and flash (I was only able to run official rom for 2 hours, after that I rooted and installed CM7...
@sanju.
so there wouldnt be any problems right? and which would you suggest.
Revolution or CM7 ?
Also the warranty gets void if im not wrong but is there any way to counter it like in the case of apple devices?
Yes you can revert your handset back to complete factory settings by running a suitable RUU (Rom Update Utility).
This will restore everything, except Radio S-OFF, back to HTC defaults. You could then send your handset away to be repaired, etc...

Rom depends on your choice, Revolution is based on HTC framework (sense and no-sense both available), 3.2 is froyo based, 4.X is gingerbread but its in beta..YOu will get the stock applications like video player, camera etc..
CM7 is also under development, RC2 is stable version, It is based on AOSP GingerBread...has a lot of modifications....I use this one....Just my preferance...
You can try both and see which one you like...
About warrenty, yes, you need to restore the RUU to claim it, but there are enough thread around which will tell you how to do that...
The only thing is I haven't seen the RUU for India, there is one for Asia and version number is close so that can work...in case it is required, or...before flashing custom rom create a backup for your official rom and save that backup...so that you can use that to come back to official rom...
Oh but i checked and seen that in CM7 the things like gps and google maps don't work .

Not all custom roms require S-OFF btw... I would root your phone, once you have custom recovery you can flash your custom rom
get familiar with adb and just read read read .... plenty of guides out there
I would S-OFF after you are familiar with everything else... messing around with partition tables is a easy way to brick your phone... you can always S-OFF at a later date (just my personal view - alot of people S-OFF very quickly - depends how badly you want additional mods)

Some people have had trouble with the gps lock on CM7, not all, as I for one haven't got any problems with neither of the RCs nor the nightlys. I'm running nightly build 20 atm. And there is a fix for the gps included in the latest two nightlys so it's not a problem anymore.
just read a lot man, all informations you want is spread out there! in beggining this thread helps a lot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846248

No, overclocking to a reasonable extend should not harm your phone. I'm running an overclocked kernel (1.2 GHz) and it has no negative effect on my phone. In the manufacturing process there are deviations from the design and Qualcomm has rated the processor which is in our DHDs to 1GHz. This means that most processors can safely handle higher frequencies, but the higher they rate their production, more units will have to be scrapped. I think it's quite safe to go for 1.2 or even 1.5 (if you really need it and monitor the teperature closely) but I would never run on 1.8 GHz. I just wanted to explain why HTC decided to go for locked internal memory. There is a reason for that, not just because they are mean control freaks... oh wait those were Apple .

I didn't know that you can install a custom recovery without S-OFF. Or a custom ROM without a custom recovery. Anyway there are many users which followed the guide in the developement section (including me) and did just fine (thanks to the great tools made by jkoljo and all the help we get in this great forum). Ultimately is anyone's decision what to do with his/her own phone.
I'm gonna s-off this weekend after I've fixed my custom recovery

Guess u guys are confusing between Radio S-Off and Eng-S-OFF.
You can't install a custom recovery without Eng-SOFF, hence u can't install custom Roms.
There is a one click S-Off for Eng-Soff & Radio S-OFf which u can find in Dev Section.
This should do the work quickly and in a painless way...
Personally i would recommend to go for MIUI or CM7...
All your questions have been answered clearly.
Just one warning regarding the warranty. It's possible to revert to stock EXCEPT if one hard key is needed and it doesn't work.
If on DHD all can be done via adb then it's ok (never checked).
I'm just coming from HD2 and without vol- key you were fu**ed (can't launch the bootloader but OS bootable).
Anyway never stopped me to install custom roms the first day

[Q] Wifi Sleep Policy - Different ROM could be a solution?

Hello,
I am running a Stock rooted rom at the moment. However, whenever I Skype and use it like a handset, the WiFi gets cut off (well, slowed to the extent that the connection fails). It does this regardless of my Sleep Policy I setup (I set it to Never).
This is really annoying to me... Thus I ask of you fellow Desire Owners, is there another ROM that would fix this bug? Or can I update the WiFi Module? What are my options here? I would like to keep SenseUI, or everything as-is, just remove the wifi-sleep bug
In LeeDrOiD rom this feature works pretty well, I can guarantee that. The rom has sense.
Swyped from my HTC Desire with CM7.
Could you lead me to a tutorial or guide how to apply it? I only used the unrevoked 3 thingy to root Thanks!
Leedroid ROM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038195
Flashing tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Also AFAIK 99% custom ROM's have this setting under your control.

[Q] Camera Crashing on Custom Roms

Hello,
I don't have permission for posting in dev section so I'm asking my question here (yes,I did go through the forum n google to find a solution)
From the time I've started using custom roms,my camera app is not working properly. It crashes after 3-4 shots n my phone reboots. My phone freezes on the preview screen for a few seconds n then restarts. At first I thought its a rom issue but I've faced this same problem on reflex s,rcmix 2,leedroid 2.5 and SGBS and this problem never existed in the original rom.
What could be causing this? I'm using s off desire with 1gb ext partition (created using clockwork recovery screen)..
appreciate the help
thanks
Did you do full wipe before install ROM ?
If not, please do so.
If yes, I don't know the answer.
You can try install default ROM and start all over again though.
hello
thanks for the reply,I always do a full wipe when installing a custom rom..but don't know why this issue...
I'm scared to try the stock rom as I don't know what my original country was as I bought my phone from the local market without any warranty...!
someone...??
thats disappointing
try the sense 2.1 camera - it should work. To be honest I never had this problem when trying those sense-based ROMs, so no other idea.
Try flashing a newer/different radio
thanks for the replies..I didn't know the radio could have anything to do with the camera...will update n test for 2days n rite back
I'm using sgbs rite now with sense 2.1 camera...before this I had rcmixs, reflex s,Lee droids...all had similar issue, some more than the other..
BTW off topic does anyone know how I can get only sense 3 weather on sense 2.1? And which is a good sense 3 rom with stock android lock screen working...as sense 3 lock screen n caller screen is kinda annoying!
thanks

[Q] Problems with Virtuous Roms

Hello Guys,
Ive Got a Problem, thats why i'm here.
Ive got a Rooted HTC Desire Z (data under my Question)
and everytime I want to flash a Rom from VIrtous or with Virtous Basement
I get a Blackscreen at rebooting, other Roms are working (like CM9)
And because thats very weird I want to ask the Pro's
Data:
- Hboot-0.84.2000 (PC1011000)
- 4Ext Recovery System
Thanx Eddiegame
(and if theres a [Q] existing, it wouldnt help cauz my Cell is very crazy)
Edit: Actually, this is the Desire Z hboot...Have you tried flashing Sense ROM's or the ICS ROM they offer?
Jss i did flash nearly all Virtuous Roms, which are aviable
But none has been working... all Blackscreen.
Even Virtuous Sense 2.0.0?
I presume you have set up and have a grasp of how to use adb. If you haven't, look up a guide in our forum.
So, does adb recognize your device while it's trying to boot? (You can confirm this if you run "adb devices" ) If it does, what output are you getting when running "adb logcat"?
Sent from my DZ.
Jes i know how to use adb
and i tested with the Primadonna Rom
and it Said :
Code:
- waiting for device -
error: protocol fault (no status)
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
and the "error" is coming, when the blackscreen starts ...
hi, i am trying to flash the sense Android Revolution HD with HTC Sense 3.5 rom as posted by you on my G2 but it after installation it gets stuck at the htc boot screen, amazingly this happens with all sense 3.5 roms like CoreDroid v1.3, Virtuous Affinity etc. but roms like CM7 - PyroMod etc. are installed and run pretty ok(ok the andriod process keeps crashing while calling), could you put some light on the matter. i am new to this previously the g2 was running the mexdroid rom and i brought it online. i really want the phone to run HTC stock rom or similar coz i love the look and the feel of it. any guidance on the same would be greatly appreicated. cant post on the form coz i still dont have the rights to do so.'

Dear mh09ad5578
Habe you tried the BlissSense ? Its the best one with 3.5 in my opinion the others did also not work for me so try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485689
Eddiegame
I suggest against 3.5 entirely, it's way too bloated to run smoothly on our phones.
There's plenty of Sense 4.0 development. The ROM's we have right now are blazing fast and pretty much everything works, except for camera. Won't take long till we have fully functional Sense 4.0 ROM's.
So my advice is to stick with Stock (Virtuous Sense 2.0.0), until Camera works in Sense 4.0. Also, flash the Unity kernel, I have v9 on mediafire (can't find v10 right now).
Eddiegame, in case you haven't tried that ROM then please do. It's stock with Virtuous kernel/tweaks.
But my Problem is that virtousroms aren't working right now.
At the moment im at Glite, waiting for a fully working Sense 4.0a
so i will wait c:

best rom
Okay, I know this question was asked many times, but I went through the results and can't find what I'm looking for.
I have HTC Wildfire S (marvelc) , rooted, and I'm looking for custom rom which:
enables link2SD
has standard sense keyboard (or more to say, has this little button enabling to quickly toggle input languages)
has working sense clock/weather widget (might sound silly, but i love those weather animations)
I've spent last weekend installing different custom roms on my htc (WildChild, Random, HenseMod7) and neither fulfilled these requirements. Some didn't work at all
If you guys know any rom that does do what I need, that would save me a lot of time and probably my mental health
It Really isnt do hard, download your ROM, copy it into the sdcard, boot into recovery(turn off you phone and take the battery out, reinsert it and hole the volume down button+power button, use the volume keys to nevigate, and the power key to select) locate you ROM and there you have it! itll take some time to install it and reboot. \
I use the CM9 ICS ROM by Modpunk, You can find it here.

The only ROM for Marvelc that i can think of that uses these are Hensemod, or any other variant of the stock ROM...someone just posted a CM10 for the Marvelc, which doesn't meet any of these requirements, but I love it already...
jmz sense or teamblueridge sense. you can get the second one from goo manager just download the app and look at compatible roms. personally I like dudeman's pa for marvelc and of course the new cm 10 which has come a long way in 3 days.
