Try option 10, using SemcGenericUxpRes.apk when it asks for something else, which you just drop on the script window.

[MOD][ICS]How to Set Logs type to "View by All Call Logs" - Hide SMS from Call Logs
I made this mod to fix Homam's mod, Homam tried in his mod to prevent sms from being logged, this mod worked well for GB Roms, but is not compatible with Stock Email app on ICS Roms.
So i followed karl999999's idea, and i made a more clean and stable changes.
This mod will :
Not remove any log
Set the Default Call logs type to "View All Call logs" (no SMS)
Let you view/edit all other logs types
You have to decompile "Contacts.apk" (use my Apk_Manager if you have any issue with your apktool).
Edit "Contacts.apk\smali\com\android\contacts\activities\DialtactsActivity.smali" (Red changes) :
Code:
.method public onBackPressed()V
.locals 3
const/4 v2, [COLOR=Red]0x1[/COLOR]
iget-object v0, p0, Lcom/android/contacts/activities/DialtactsActivity;->mDialpadFragment:Lcom/sec/android/app/dialertab/dialpad/DialpadFragment;
if-eqz v0, :cond_0
Then edit "Contacts.apk\smali\com\sec\android\app\dialertab\calllog\CallLogFragment.smali" (Red changes) :
Code:
.method public constructor <init>()V
.locals 2
const/4 v1, 0x1
invoke-direct {p0}, Lcom/sec/android/app/dialertab/widget/DialtactsListFragment;-><init>()V
const/4 v0, -0x1
iput v0, p0, Lcom/sec/android/app/dialertab/calllog/CallLogFragment;->mCallType:I
iput-boolean v1, p0, Lcom/sec/android/app/dialertab/calllog/CallLogFragment;->mSweepActionEnabled:Z
const/4 v0, 0x0
iput [COLOR=Red]v1[/COLOR], p0, Lcom/sec/android/app/dialertab/calllog/CallLogFragment;->mWhichButton:I
That's all, compile and enjoy.

Maybe, but not soon, at least for me .
Added CWM flashable XWLP9 mod (Stock Deodexed).
Hi wanam, your work is really impressive.
I tried your tutorial but I couldn't. Could you help me?
I flashed my S2 I9100 with de AndersonDJ v3.3 ROM. Then I did this steps:
1)Copy the /system/app/Contacts.apk to C:\Apk_Manager_ICS\place-apk-here-for-modding
2)Execute script.bat
3)Type "22" and select option "1" = Contacts.apk
4)Type "9" to decompile
5)Open "Contacts.apk\smali\com\android\contacts\activitie s\DialtactsActivity.smali" with Editplus and change.
6)Open "Contacts.apk\smali\com\sec\android\app\dialertab\ calllog\CallLogFragment.smali" and change.
7)Type "11" to compile.
Then I choose "yes" for next two questions (something like "Is it a system apk" and "Copy the files not changed").
An unsigned file was created in "C:\Apk_Manager_ICS\place-apk-here-for-modding"
I renamed to "Contacts.apk" and copy to /system/app/
But "View All Call logs" is not default yet..
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

You have to remove the classes.dex from "keep" folder after the 2nd "Yes".
Sorry wanam but I didn't find the "classes.dex".
It is the first time that I use an apk_tool. I don't know if I have been made correctly.
I used "Windows Search" before put 2nd YES, but I didn't find the "classes.dex".
The ROM was based on XWLP9. The only option that I have use is 9 and 11?
Thank you very much.

It's the same mod for 4.0.4, you can compare with my 4.0.4 files.
For those of us that haven't programmed for 25 years and are out of the loop so to speak, could you make this a flashable mod?

If you mean using original AndroidManifest and META-INF, I just used original Manifest, there was no META-INF folder from my Apktool extraction (see screenshot below): I picked up the AndroidManifest.xml from the original one and pasted it inside the build after the first generation, then I generated the APK with the old Manifest.

No, I mean signing it with the platform key with a tool like Zipsigner on the device. That's the best way, copying back the meta-inf will not work.

[GUIDE] How to add extra option in settings.apk

EXTRA APPLICATION OPTION IN SETTINGS MENU
This is my first thread, so please ignore my errors.
We have seen custom ROMs having some extra options in settings. This is a guide of adding these options.
This guide is for Galaxy y, but also can work for devices with similar settings.apk (like Ace, duos etc.)
Prerequisites:-
1) A rooted phone (I can't strech how important this is )
2) Backup your orginal settings.apk
3) Basic knowledge of decompiling and recompiling.
Procedure:-
1)Decompile settings.apk and apk of the app you want to put. (I am decompiling Proximity Actions)
2) Go to decompiled app folder and open AndroidManifest.xml. Note Package and Target Class. (Marked with red circle Attachment # 1)
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
3) Open decompiled folder of settings. Go to /res/values/strings.xml. Open with Notepad++.
Enter code <string name="prxt_ctrl">Proximity Control</string> in the end before /resources>. You can edit red coloured text to anything which you want to appear in settings. You can also give any string name, but remember it.
4) You need an icon to put in settings(You can get it from that decompiled app). Resize it to 24x24 pixels (FOR GALAXY Y ONLY)
5) Put that icon in settings/res/drawable-Idpi with any name(remember it). I have given name ic_settings_prxt
6) Go to settings/res/xml/settings.xml. Open with Notepad++
7) Add code <com.android.settings.IconPreferenceScreen android:title="@string/prxt_ctrl" settings:icon="@drawable/ic_settings_prxt">
<intent android:targetPackage="novum.inceptum.proximity" android:action="android.intent.action.MAIN" android:targetClass="novum.inceptum.proximity.PA_Activity" />
</com.android.settings.IconPreferenceScreen>
Here string is used from step 3. Use icon from step 4. Package and targetClass from step 2.
8) Save and compile Settings.apk and complete formalities of recompiling.
9) Push Settings.apk to /system/app and set permissions to rw-r--r--.
10) Enjoy
PRESS THANKS IF HELPED. I REALLY NEED IT.
there is a similar thread. plz search before post. mods plz close this thread.

No. That guide has different Settings structure. It is for Xperia Arc where menus are classified by category.
In our Galaxy y, we don't have settings_header.xml.
Indeed both guides are similar, but I think a set of simple instructions would be helpful, so I have written this thing.

If you have not edited Manifest of your SETTINGS APP (IMPORTANT), then you don't have to sign that APK. Just open both apks (newly compiled and original) in 7zip 7zip ONLY (Right click on apk ====> 7zip ====> Open archive)
Then drag META-INF of original apk to compiled apk and push to /system/app and change permission to 644 (rw-r--r--)
Same problem

what name do we use for the zip ? We used to name it " com.android.settings.zip " in KitKat . Will it need root to apply ? Also , the only thing I change is drawables and I leave EVERY SINGLE FILE untouched in the zip ( Converted from apk to zip ) and I get force close . Has anyone tried this ?
If yes , what were the results ?? If someone has accompished that , please tell the way to do it , I will appreciate it very much :fingers-crossed:

oke is cool and sure just send me the apk files !
It is not possible to change these icons by using Themes and theme engine in Lollipop
I can see where you're coming from, those icons look very gross xD i love how in CyanogenMod you can change the look and feel of everything without brains but it drains to much battery..... Ive seen people modify certain things and im quite good in Photoshop just have no idea about what goes into the coding, how to decompile and recompile and sign the app so it runs etc..... Hard to find anything simple on how to do this sort of stuff takes knowledge in coding to do this ****.... Lol, would be really good if some one made a step by step tutorial on how to modify apps like theming google keyboard to red and black etc etc...
hi, Im trying to do something 'similar' to you, Im trying to add/edit just the text on them (I do that in the XML but when I put it back in /system/priv-app/Settings/Settings.apk i lose access to the Settings in the phone)
Did you manage to change something ?

Did you make the right mods, just because an apk builds without errors doesn't mean there won't be any, so if you've signed the apk correctly then that would suggest the edits you've made have broke the apk somehow.

Now type:
apktool if framework-res.apk
apktool if semc-genericuxp.apk
apktool d -f settings.apk
Done, now without any errors

Did you make the right mods, just because an apk builds without errors doesn't mean there won't be any, so if you've signed the apk correctly then that would suggest the edits you've made have broke the apk somehow.

thank you for the reply, after I readed your post I went redo all again but this time make no changes at all (just push the Settings.apk in my pc, descompile it, recompile it, and take it to the phone again), and it happens the same :S
Im doing this:
adb pull /system/app/Settings.apk
adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk
java -jar apktool.jar if framework-res.apk
java -jar apktool.jar d -s Settings.apk
adb push Settings/dist/Settings.apk /sdcard/
(then I use ZipSigner and choose 'plataform' on his option)
...after I put it in the sdcard and I copy it to /system-priv/Settings/Settings.apk and set the permissions to the sames of the original file.
Can the my procedure causing the problem ?

There's a few extra steps first before using the new apk. See HERE, especially the section about signing.

I don't know, SoundEnhancement was already on my rom. I've just edited SoundEnhancement.apk and I pushed it to /system.
I'm on a heavily modified CarbonRom with most of Sony features.
