[Q] Go from Rogers to Public mobile

Very interested by the 35/mo plan unlimited 3G!
I contacted them and they said I had to buy a phone from them in order to use their plan.
"Sorry, but only Public Mobile phones will work on the Public Mobile network. Phones from other wireless companies will not work on our network.

I am wondering if this is absolutely true? I paid my phone so I am contract free and can change whenever I want.

It's correct. Public mobile uses a CDMA network. Everyone else has moved to GSM. You'll get slightly better results by trying wind but they're not 100% compatible either.

Not only do they use CDMA, they use a frequency band that no one else uses.

correct... in this case where they say you have to use their network then you have to... its not a GSM carrier so its not like they are saying no you have to use our phones because we want to make money even tho any phone will work if unlocked... in this case, no ... you have to use their phones

Good ESN - How to keep it that way?

Hey all,
I've just ordered a T-Mobile Samsung Note II from eBay with a Good/Clean ESN. I plan on Unlocking it because I live in Canada and use Wind Mobile here (Its NOT illegal for me to do this here ). I do travel to the states and would like to get a prepaid T-Mobile sim card to work on it. I'm planning on unlocking it using the method shown in this forum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2176721
How do I prevent it from becoming a bad ESN? I know this is a noob question but I really need help in understanding this. Thanks!

Bad ESN is either due to ending contract without paying bill and ETF or losing the phone and reporting it stolen and then finding it. The carrier blocks the ESN after either of those.

You might wanna check out this thread lots of people giving there experience and advice on the whole blocked imei phone after the fact...
YOU Just gotta hope the phone is good unless you know who you got it from and so on ..

I bought an htc m9 via ebay
The previous owner not paying the bills did so that the
Phone company blocked the phone that sold to me.

Hi All,
I have bought "Huawei E5180s-22 4G LTE" from China, then only realized that it cannot be used in Malaysia with an unlimited SIM Card.
Upon contacting the seller, he told me that I need to unlock the modem and then change the IMEI.
May I know how to unlock this modem and change to what IMEI?
I am skill enough to execute AT command correctly.

Edit or change of IMEI is illegal in quite a few of countries. For this reason, XDA doesn't allow and accept discussions about or support for such an edit or change.
