I use this one that I have had since 2008. Accommodates any phone and is rock solid.

I tried to place an order for that today from the Samsung website. All accessories, including the spare battery, are backordered.
Those are illegal in californiaI think

I had a mount for my original Epic. Never got hassled the entire time I had it.
Gouging
Am I the only one that thinks the Samsung mount is incredibly expensive considering what it is they are selling?
Technically it is illegal to have ANYTHING attached to the Windshield of a vehicle in the state of California. You may never get hassled for it, but if you do get pulled over and a cop wants to be a jerk, it could be used to increase the amount of the fine on the ticket. It's like having the front side windows or windsheild of your car tinted, you may never get hassled but all it takes is one cop to force you to remove it.
Just fyi I have a TPU-Case and the GARMIN NUVI fits awesome. I have same as the link below. No-mods and everything fits

Nope, I thought the same thing. Also with the way its designed you wouldn't get your phone in there with a case on it.
I have the rocket fish universal from Best Buy (~$25), just have to clamp it toward the bottom of the phone. I've locked the lower-volume-button down twice already by accident.
I would avoid a windshield mount. It's just giving cops a reason to pull you over and give you a ticket. I bought this http://www.wiredforless.com/product_p/soundm2.htm at $15 after shipping with coupon code woot for my girlfriend's HTC Arrive and she's loving it. I'm going to grab another one for my E4GT and attach the button to my TPU case.
I've banged this drum for every device I have owned here on XDA, the best mount solution, bar none, is the Brodit/Proclip system. You don't run into the legal/safety issues of a windshield mount, it is rock solid and does not pop out, etc. and the vehicle half of the solution has lasted me through at least 6 different devices.
http://www.proclipusa.com/
I know that sounds like a plug, and the upfront investment is steep, but it soo worth it. I have the universal device adapter and am using that right now for my brand new baby, but as soon as they release the custom molded one I will be purchasing that.
Why are these mounts so expensive? $30 for $3-5 worth of components just seems a but steep for me. I know I will eventually break down and buy something, but it just seems crazy to me that these mounts cost more then a DVD Burner for a computer which has far more components and takes far more energy and costs to produce. I know I said it about the samsung unit, but all of the units shown so far seem to have the exorbidant prices.

sorta agree, but with some important caveats. this is a mistake most people make, which is taking materials costs as any kind of indicator of product price. setting aside market dynamics (ie idiots willing to overpay such as myself haha):
there are other inputs such as testing, design and development costs plus overhead to consider. this is especially true for the smaller companies mentioned above as their per unit overhead is significantly higher.
and then there is the added cost of monetizing the risk of producing items that people may not want. you are taking a risk and will always make far too many of some items and run out of stock for others you had not anticipated. you need to make those that are selling pay for all the others that did not. you can sink money into some market intelligence, but that will only get you so far and will ultimately only partially solve the problem.
that is why there are so many damn iPhone accessories and so few for other devices, why you can walk into a mall anywhere and buy iPhone cases, etc for like $5 including all of the above: because there is no added risk to the maker and a larger overall market that is a proven "buy buy buy" audience. there may be more android phones, but there are more iPhones than any single android phone out there by a looooong mile.
wow... dont know what provoked that, haha.

It mostly comes down to volume.
Chinese manufacturers can crank out those DVD drives, and probably make the same guts that are used across more DVD drives than you could ever imagine, under the covers. They have one factory, ramped up to highest volume production, getting the highest volume production on parts, cheapest labor cost spread across the total manufacturing volume (likely millions), and you get cheap DVD drives.
If they were manufactured in factories like these, where the manufacturing volumes might be in the thousands, or tens of thousands, then the cost of equipment, manufacturing, and labor (although likely smaller in total) has to be spread across far fewer units.
Imagine the cost of setting up a factory, or even just molds and leased time on an assembly facility that was already set up to injection mold-
That's one-time setup, that's either spread across 10 units or 10 million. Chances are the plastic that goes into it is a buck or two, but it's the other costs that have to be spread over the whole manufacturing run.
I don't think it's that they are trying to rip anyone off.
I wish there were more pictures of the windshield mount...
I want a car dock, so that I can not only use nav without draining my battery, but also pipe Pandora and music into my aux in on my car stereo. Perfect!!
It would be slick if this dock used the sound via USB port to provide an audio output. does it??
Slick: Dock phone, done.
Not slick: Plug USB cable in, plug audio cable in, set phone in holder contraption. Explain wires going everywhere to everyone.
Using the same Arkon mount I had for my EVO 4G. It's the older side side squeeze model so the problem with that is the teeth in the gears wear down and if your not careful one side will be in while the other is still out. I've had to take it apart to adjust it correctly and now it's okay.
If I had get or recommend another one it would be one of their newer model:

It's slimmer and has a spring load grip system. My friend has it for his iPhone 4 and it works great.
I don't want to hijack the thread, so I will just say that I have an intimate knowledge of product sourcing at the manufacturing and the retail levels. Thanks for the replies as your thoughts are very much appreciated.
I really want to be able to mount my cell phone and my View 4G and my Epic Touch in my car for ease of access and use. Primarily using my View for turn by turn directions and my ET for phone and SMS. I use my View for accessing websites as it provides a better experience with the larger screen. So I really like the ProClip mount for the ET but the combined price for the bracket and device holder might drive me to the Samsung one. I have also thought about just buying a Laptop Auto Mount from Ebay and using Velcro to secure them to the flat surface of the mount.

I agree... pics would be great to see of that mount.
The price is right, and worst case I could solve the cable issues by just having the USB cable looped around as an optional plug in, hardwired to the car, and buying a bluetooth adapter to feed audio into my stereo system via bluetooth.
This adds to the cost since the bluetooth adapters are between $50-$75, but could be slick and create that level of seamless integration that I want.
I'd love to see the phone in the mount, if you can snap a shot.

So, I'd been looking for a decent hard case for a while, and just never found a deal on one that I liked enough to buy. Trolling around on eBay, I found this little guy, Monaco Case
It looked like too good a deal to be of real quality. But, I checked the item location, and s#!t, the guy's in my town, 10 min from home. So, I drove down to his store to check 'em out...
At the time, I wasn't able to find many up to date reviews for this case, so I'm hoping that this post will help at least one or two people make a decision on whether to purchase or not.
...turns out that they are actually pretty nice. The build quality is very good, the hinge feels solid and operates smoothly, the latch clasps easily and securely. It's not likely to be popping open at inopportune moments. I have since tested this, as the phone recently took a hard 5' fall onto a concrete warehouse floor, bounced a couple times, and came to rest, still closed, phone undamaged and case unscratched. The case is lined with a thin layer of neoprene, the phone fits in snuggly and will not be scratched by the aluminum shell. Overall I was pleasantly surprised by it, I ended up buying one for me and one for my buddy's Evo. Sorry about this grainy pic, taken with my girl's Hero. The others will be better, I promise.

The small shinny spots on the bottom of the case here are just reflections from the sunlight directly over head, not scratches, the cases finish quality is very good.
Access to the power and volume buttons is a little more difficult, but not a major problem. The kick stand still functions as intended, I use it plenty, and I feel that the camera is now well protected.
The case also comes with a little belt clip thingy that screws into the back of the case, cool idea... but, it was too cheesy for everyday use. I tossed it in the garbage when I got home. So, I set out to fab up a car mount to utilize the threaded bung on the back of the case. This is what I came up with. It's made from pieces of a cheesy adjustable car mount that I got at Radio Shack for $8 on clearance. I cut out the pieces I wanted, shaped, sanded and drilled until I was happy, then bolted it on.
Yeah, it adds a bit of bulk to an already bulky case, but that's not really an issue for me. I really need the protection this kind of case offers as I'm quite prone to damaging/destroying high end electronics. Thank god I have BB black tie protection as well, it's been well exploited . Also, there aren't really any off the shelf car mounts that will work with a hard case like this, so I had to come up with something.
I think it came out pretty nice, and it looks damn good in my truck. Using navigation is now worlds easier, plus I'm far less likely to run down a group of small children crossing the street whilst fumbling around, looking for my misplaced Evo.
The dash side of the mount is fairly adjustable via the ball & socket joint, it feels solid overall, and the phone slides on/off the mount easily without being sloppy. It's attached to the dash with a nice piece of double sided 3M tape that actually came with the original crappy car mount. It's quite strong and I don't feel like it will be failing anytime soon. And... a bonus for me, I ran the audio and charger cords straight into the dash, where they are hard wired into the truck, no more dangly cords for me.
Overall I'm really happy with how everything worked out. Even without the car mount, I feel like the aluminum case is a pretty good deal. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a solid protective case at a great price. I'm not sure exactly why these cases are so cheaply priced, but I think that they are well worth it.
I should mention that I'm in no way affiliated with the seller of these cases, and I have nothing to gain from the guy selling millions of them, although I'm sure he would love you for it. They are manufactured in China, which I'm sure has a lot to do with the price point. They're the exact same as the cases also being sold under the PDAir brand name. They can also be had in a shinny aluminum finish, for all the bling that some may require.
How much thickness would you say this case adds? I have been wanting to ditch my bodyglove shell case for a while and this seems like it might be the answer if it's not too thick and doesn't add too much weight to the Evo.
Thanks

The case adds .188" to the overall thickness. The phone goes from 1/2" thick, to 11/16" thick. It's not too bad, and it still slides in and out of my back pocket easily enough.

Yes, I super glued my piece in place to keep it from spinning around on the single bolt. I actually used epoxy rather than super glue, and it is holding great.

well i tried to order one and the guy sent it to an unconfirmed paypal address and I lost my money. You do know that, regardless of what you email the seller, they can only ship to the address given to them by Paypal.
If you need to change things like shipping info, you need to make a note with your Paypal payment when you send it. There is a place for special notes like that. Also, if you are having trouble with Paypal giving the wrong info, you need to contact Paypal about that.
You can't be blaming the seller for shipping to the address Paypal gave them. They are not obligated to be checking emails before they ship items, that's why you always see notes at the bottom of product descriptions that read something like, please email in advance if you have any questions/concerns/special instructions.

Sounds like the seller sent it to an UNCONFIRMED address.
That's his bad.
if you don't know how to properly use ebay/paypal, then you should have called the seller and arranged a different form of purchase.
It is very easy to select which address you want things shipped to with paypal and ebay. And it isnt like they are going to send a different one to the seller than what you select, it is all handled by one script/program and it isn't able to send a different address, it just isn't technically possible.
And it is very possible for you to chose the unconfirmed address instead of the confirmed one if the seller allows shipping to unconfirmed addresses. But it is still 100% up to you to choose the correct one.

J/K I understand that some need a big strong case due to the line of work they are in or due to their hobbies, its all good.

You can delete the bad address frim paypal and use a new one and confirm it.
If paypal is known for doing this tovyou then YOU need to fix it.

I hope you realize that any type of metal case over your phone cqn and usually will greatly impede your signal.
Alum. Or any metal in a phone case where the antennas are under the shell is just stupid.
As sensative as gps is, that is going to be hurt too. Along with wifi.
I realise it thin metal but why would you want a metal rf reflective case.
Not only that but you are 100% guarented to scratch the living hell out of you phone where the mdtal edges touch the glass and sides of the case on the top of the phone.

totally off topic, but is that an old 4runner i see in the pics?
So I've preordered my GSGIII (Verizon) and I'm planning to order myself a ProClip mount within the next few days.
For anyone who's familliar with ProClip mounts, you know that normally they offer at least 4 different options for a phone:
Standard Holder
Adjustable Holder
Charging Holder w/ Cigarette Lighter Adapter
Charging Holder w/ Straight Power Cord for Fixed Installation
The adjustable holder is the one not specifically designed for this phone... They make them in a few different sizes and the one they show when you put in your phone is the one that they say will fit it. The adjustable holders are generally used when you have a case on your phone, so you don't have to take it out.
So far, the only two options are the standard and the adjustable. Here's a picture of the standard:

Here's a picture of the SGSII charging holder, which should look pretty much the same for the SGSIII:
I have two questions though...
First, I'm coming from an HTC Incredible which has the charging port on the side. One of my car chargers had a very loose connection. Since the usb port was on the side, it never fell out as long as the phone was kept upright (it would fall out instantly if I turned the phone on it's side putting the port on the bottom). I did have another car charger which fit a little more snugly, but I'm still a little worried about the bottom usb port placement on the SGSIII. I don't really want to (a) pay extra, and (b) have to wait longer for the charging holder, but I also don't want to have my charger falling out all the time if I get the one with the open bottom. Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about that?
My second question is regarding the Samsung "Ultra Slim Covers" (I have another post about those). It's hard to say exactly how thin these things are going to be without having used one, but they claim that "The case is ultra slim, giving you the feeling that it's not even there." I'm wondering if it'll be thin enough to fit in the standard ProClip dock without having to get an adjustable. I've never used a ProClip dock before so I don't know how much slack there is... but I would assume it's pretty snug. Anyone have any thoughts on that?
In addition to my two specific questions, since I haven't used these before, I'm also interested in hearing people's general opinions of the product. I know they're expensive, but I'm fed up with suction cups and want something more sturdy and fixed. I've not read a single thing bad about them (other than price). I'm curious what you all think.
Proclip mounting products are great, know this from a car forum I frequent. For a while I used a Cellcup for my phone (OG Epic) but now am thinking of getting a proclip driver's side console mount and retrofitting the stock Samsung car mount to it. If you want to set up your phone mount on a console (vs dash vs windshield) it is Proclip great way to go. Don't know about the phone fitting with a case, these mounts are made to hold the phone snugly so an adjustable mount would likely be needed.

Suffice to say that the OP is not going to get the SIII into a ProClip mount with a case on, there's absolutely no way.... they are WAY too rigid to have anything but a full-body protector on it, and even then, the sides may rub too much for the phone to even want to go in the dock, so don't expect to use a ProClip with anything other than nothing!
The SII mount I've been using with my Skyrocket has done wonders for mounting so far, but I'm dying to see how it will work with the SIII.... I'm not using an Infuse 4G mount, I'm using a D710 SII mount with roughly the same dimensions as the Infuse. I added some extra protection from a spare ZAGG full-body protector and had to trim away some parts that were rubbing way too much and releasing the glue under it when mounting the phone on to the dock!
ProClip is gonna have to do something to their prices for people to want to buy those instead of just getting an Infuse dock for less than $20 shipped! I bought the ProClip car mount for my new car recently, but couldn't see spending another $60-80 on a phone mount when all I had to do was put industrial strength Velcro to the front face of the mount that attaches to the car, shave down the ball joint from the D710 mount, and then attach the opposite Velcro to that smooth surface, giving me a nice mount for my Skyrocket and hopefully an even better mount for the SIII when it arrives!

I've used the adjustable clip for several phones with or without cases. Works very well and you don't have to worry about it fitting. I just adjusted it for my S III after using it for my Galaxy Note.
I've got one of the ProClip charging mounts for my GNex and had one for my Droid X as well. However I have pre-ordered an S3 and would be willing to use the Infuse mount for it instead of spending another $60 but don't know if the back mounting point uses the right size ball/socket to make use of my existing mounting HW.
Does anybody that has the Infuse mount know how it actually connects?

According to this thread on SD, yes.
Just bought my ProClip mount last night. Hopefully it doesn't arrive too long after my phone shows up
Definitely go for the adjustable holder. I purchased one years ago, (I think they were meant for iPhone 3S phones with a case.) But surprise, they hold just about any phone.
As for the mount, I got a vehicle specific custom bracket from a company called Bracketron. And then simply mated the two with strong double sided tape that's rated at 2lbs. It's extremely secure and removable. I'll try to post a picture later.

You can get it for $2.85 shipped from HK (http://www.ebay.com/itm/170901902477?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649), but don't make the price fool you because it's of a very decent quality. And if down the road it breaks, for a few bucks it's an easy replacement. While I was impressed with its clip functionality to hold Note 2 with a case, I noticed on a side of the clip base a screw which allows you to take off the whole car mounting portion of it. The clip by itself, with a rubber tip lining, works as a sturdy stand AND as a hand grip which could be enhanced even further by attaching a ring to a mounting hole after removing the base.
What's great about it, you don't need to glue/stick anything to your phone, you don't have to worry about it sliding of the mount, you can use it to hold a phone while in bed watching a movie, or as a stand on a table, or use it as a mount in the car with included suction cup base or any other standard bases since it uses universal ball joint. It fits any case from slim to Defender, and easily removable.
So, as a car mount it looks like this:

While when you remove car mounting part it looks like:
And with it's additional functionality:

Says for iphone 4 will it fit the huge note2?
Edit: I went ahead and bought 1. It is $3... not gonna waste time thinking about it. LoL. It'll be here in 3-4 weeks as usual. Hope it works and won't fall off and break my phone. Haha
Will it fit the ZL?

Absolutely, had it in pictures here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40740915&postcount=2 - ZL with this grip/stand. I also use it in bed when watching movies/tv on the phone.
Regarding it's description, they use "iphone" as a keyword to get search hits lol!!! This clip fits everything up to and including Note 2.
Awesome gonna pick one up as it's so cheap.
Love my iOttie car mount, but don't fit many of my cases unfortunately.

In for 1!
Just as a warning guys. I ordered this mount last July and its a great looking piece of kit, and its form and function are great; but unfortunately its not all that durable or steady.
First, it wiggles. The arm there is a little thin and when you hit bumps and what not the phone wiggles. It can be slightly distracting when your following GPS to have the screen shake like that. I can understand how that may seem like nit picking but the real problem I had was it's durability.
The first thing that happened to mine was that the ball that the mount rotates on wore smooth and would not hold the phone's position no matter how tightly I screwed on the ring. So to remedy that I took it apart and roughed up the ball's surface with some sand paper. Problem fixed, no more slipping.
And that worked for awhile. And then finally one day I was adjusting it, and I hadn't loosened the ring enough and I snapped the arm right off.
Admittedly it was a bit of user error but the arm really did twist off quite easily. I didn't really put all that much muscle into it, it just seemed to be fatigued with use.
So yea, looks great, works great....just handle with care, its a little delicate.

Thank you to the OP! I didn't even realize I could use the clip as a desk prop. So not all is lost, no more car mount...but I still have a desk prop, kick stand thing!
Yes, vibrations are expected for this type of a design. I just had 4hr round trip with this holder in Highlander and w/ZL battery and tpu, and it worked really good. As far as built quality, it's $2+ gadget You can get a real Exogear Exomount 2 for $30 (which is a base for this knockoff). But overall it's a very useful toy on my list. I use it all the time when I watch movies on my N2 in bed. Saved me dozen of times from getting a black eye lol!
Hummm... no shipping details from seller yet. Wondering whats happening.

For sure! Just to note my mount was the Exogear branded version of this, ie. the Exomount Gen 1. So I paid about 20 bucks.
That being said if you can get these for like 4 bucks shipped, yea no question...great value for the money.

I purchased this type of mount from a different seller a few months ago and had the same experience. My note now rests on my dash(mounted low on the windshield) because the ball joint is worn out. I will try your sandpaper trick and see if that fixes the problem. Thanks for the advice

ebay has it for a buck or less. I'm sure you can get it at walmart/target/bestbuy since these are typical Garmin style dash sticky disks.
Btw, I have been using this in a car on a windshield and its solid!!! I'm talking about $2.85 ebay version Been using my wife's Highlander for a few long trips, so don't want anything permanent mounted in there. This one goes on the glass and holds my Note 2 with Zerolemon 9k3 battery without a problem, and extra weight is not an issue either. Yes, you get vibration and some shaking - that's expected, but its a solid phone mount on a windshield. The one I have at home, just a clip - it's my go to piece when I'm watching tv/movies in bed. Had it for a very long time - no complaints. As a matter of fact, I find this cheap knock off spring to be stronger than original Exogear one.

this product is okay...the neck snapped off and broke after 2 months of use.
As most of you know, I write hundreds of various reviews in General Accessories section of our forum/community (check out the link in my signature), so I typically being asked questions about what I found to be the best for a specific phone model or specific functionality. One question that always comes up, especially in PMs, what is the best car mount for a specific phone X or Y. I personally believe that car mount should be universal to use with any phone and any case, and with full access to all the ports, and mount option to work on a windshield or a dashboard.
With over a dozen of car mounts I reviewed recently, I have to admit Arkon Mobile Grip 2 (http://www.arkon.com/mobile-grip/) is still my top choice, currently for $19.95 including shipping on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/Arkon-Windshield-Dashboard-Suction-Smartphones/dp/B00I58VAZS/). Though I have reviewed it already with my Note 2 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2648852), some ask me how does it look with S5. Now after getting Galaxy S5, I've been using MG2 in my wife's Highlander and still find it to be the best car mount for the phone.
It's sticky suction base mount adhesive is as strong as a cement attached to any glass or textured dashboard; works even on a slightly curved surface. The removal is clean and doesn't leave any residue, plus it's re-usable - just rinse under a water if it starts to loose it's sticky grip. The mount arm accommodates different angles with an easy adjustment, and universal ball joint allows full 360 degree rotation. The spring loaded grip is very secure and easy to operate with one hand, and it's minimalistic design keeps the back of S5 open to use even as dashcam. Obviously, there is full access to all the ports for charging, headphone/audio cable, and power/volume buttons. As a bonus, MG2 also has a screw mount for universal camera tripod attachment (love it!). Also important to note that it comes with 2-year warranty, and from my experience Arkon guys stand behind their product to take care of you even after warranty expires.
Since I know pictures worth a thousand words, here you go for your enjoyment (with more pictures you can find in my Note 2/MG2 review above).

IGG/Crowdfunding campaign that promises to deliver next month while you can pre-order now for $70 a sticky pad with wireless charging to be used with a naked phone or thin smooth surface case and using very cheap basic suction cup base? If you would suggest as an alternative to Arkon (these guys been around for 25 years) something else reputable like iOttie or iBolt, that would be a different story. But I really fail to see how it's the best car mount
Ford had been around for a 100 years and still making ****y cars. I honestly don't think Arkon is better for me.
You have to agree that microsuction surface is way cooler than brackets.

Are you Armando who reviewed it in the video?
Regarding companies and how long they been around, I didn't mean it in a way that it justifies the quality, although I can speak from a hand's on experience since I tested and compared a lot of car mounts where Arkon quality is at the top. The same way I can tell you that after reviewing hundreds of cases, UAG is at the top, or after reviewing a ton of external battery packs - nothing beats Anker. But I do have a problem with crowdfunding projects. It was "cool" back in 2012 and maybe first half of 2013. A lot of them don't live up to their promises. I trust companies that been around for awhile and actually generate sales now, rather then with promises to deliver something in the future. To stay alive in such a competitive market, you gotta be doing something right. Don't have any bad wishes for Air Dock guys, but I have a good feeling they are not going to be around for too long after they will fulfill IGG orders.
One thing I do agree, there is no universal car mount or a gadget that works the same for everybody. YMMV, and this might not be for you. So, I'm glad we have a lot of different choices. Arkon MG2 works for me after testing, reviewing, and sharing on XDA about other car mounts. Something else works better for you, and I'm glad we can have a discussion about it The sticky surface mounts never took off, remember Clingo? It was sold "as seen on TV" type of deals. I have a phone case that doesn't have a flat surface and it will not stick well to it, and I would NEVER trust my $650 phone on a sticky pad going over bumps or NJ potholes or off-road

No, I am not Armando.
Arkon didn't impress me. A car mount has to have a lot more to impress me. A car mount that just holds a phone is not enough for today's expectations.
Airdock looks great but I agree with you when it comes to crowdfunding projects. It has to be more tested with different smartphones.
Another company that I like is ProClip. I would get a car mount like this for my Note 3. (Charging cable permanently attached to holder
)

How steady is the mount? I ordered this one to use my S4 in as a dashcam/media player. The thing bounces around a lot, so the video looks like it was shot by someone with Parkinsons.

It's relatively steady as long as you tighten the mounting arm screw securely and don't have your smartphone with Zerolemon triple-capacity extended battery for additional weight, but you gotta keep in mind that your car vibration will transfer to the phone/camera. Perhaps S5 has a better camera, gotta check to see if it has anti-shake feature or something like that. With dashcam, doesn't matter which commercial car mount you use, you probably going to end up with "GoPro" effect lol!!! I wonder if they make some dash mount shock absorption beanie bags bases.
I was just asked in PM where MG279 can be purchased outside of US, since I only provided Amazon US link. Just did some digging and found it here: http://www.buybits.com/Product/1913...ash-Desk-Mount-For-Smartphones-sku-19132.aspx

How well Arkon grip the phone when it's in portrait (not sideways) mode? Would you trust it to hold your phone in a 4x4 going over sweet jumps? Or do you think the phone will eventually wiggle its way loose from the mount/clamp?
Pretty sure those microsuction cups won't hold a phone over any sweet jumps.
If you have a CD slot, this one is great.

Was looking for a decent car mount and purchased this one through Amazon based off of vectron's review. One of the best suction cup mounts I've ever used. The thing just STICKS. Works great. Holds the phone very well in either portrait or landscape mode. Excellent recommendation good sir!

I've been looking for one that has a built in charger for my S5, but I haven't been too happy with the ones that I have found. I wouldn't mind the outrageous price range of that proclip one Acaibowl suggested if it took advantage of the USB 3.0 capabilities of the S5, but it doesn't. The other ones I've found either don't have the USB 3.0 capabilities that I'm looking for or they all have bad reviews. Do you know of any that are worthwhile and have USB 3.0?
Edit: I also use an Otterbox case, I'm sure you know how big those get... If you know of one that matches what I'm looking for AND can accommodate an Otterbox, that would be an amazing bonus.
Thanks in advance.
What about Ram Mounts in comparison?
I have been trying to make my own wireless dock for my Nexus 7 and LG G2, so I could just put the device in a mount and have it connect to the Bluetooth and charge without me having to plug anything in. I took a Ebay wireless desk charger and rigged it to work with one of my dash mounts but it looked awful and only charged when I got it perfect in the mount.
Then I was looking at other mounts on youtube and came across a Kickstarter company called AirDock. I ordered from the Kickstarter site and finally got the unit a few weeks ago and thought I would give a review. Be easy, this is my first review of anything.
The device has a sticky pad and 4 magnets that hold the tablet. It worked well for the Nexus 7 without a case but not with the case. But the mount came with a sticker that has 4 additional magnets in it that I attached to the back of the case and it holds it well. I have it in a Jeep Wrangler with 37" tires and has not fallen off yet.
You can buy it with a short suction cup base, a long one, or a CD mount. I am using the long one in the Jeep and it works good, has not come off yet. I bought the CD mount one for my car and it is sturdy and seems well made. It also comes in white or black.
It came with a dual output USB charger that says 1Amp and 2.1Amp but with the wireless charging I do not get anywhere near that. My Battery Widget says it is charging at 500ma ( 1/2 amp) which is enough to use the GPS, Pandora and have the screen never turn off and BARELY charge the battery. I use Tasker to automatically open Pandora when it senses wireless charging.
I will post some pictures this afternoon.
There website is http://www.theairdock.com/ I paid $45 for it on the prelaunch but it looks like they are $68 now. Pricey to me but well worth it because I have double that and 20+ hours into trying to make my own.
Please post any questions you have I will try to answer. I have emailed there support people with an issue with my LG G2 and they answered same day.
Please post some pics of your setup when you get the chance. I'm looking for something like this and it sounds like it might work well.

Let me tell you, while I do have have the AirDock, if I ever do another car install, I will be using it. I bought and hacked up a Qi wireless charger to use and earth magnets to hold the tablet. While it does work, I've got $20ish in magnets and another 10 in a wireless charger and then the time taking the charger apart, finding placement, trying to work the magnets around the charger, make sure it all works, ect. A lot of time whereas with the AirDock, from what I see, will pretty much self align, hold the tablet in place and charge. The time saving to me alone would be worth it
Pics please
Pics please.
I am a lurker on this site. I can offer very little knowledge to rooting phones etc. but I thought I would share my experience with the AirDock. I own a Samsung Galaxy S5, the CHOETECH Qi Wireless Charger Kit from Amazon, and a Spigen Slim Armour Case. Everything works fine. S5 charges thru the case with out issue.
When I get the AirDock I quickly realized that A) the AirDock will not charge the phone and B) the AirDock will not hold the phone. I added the magnets to the inside of the Spigen case and that did not help much if at all. I contacted AirDock and was told I needed to put the magnet stickers on the outside of my case. I certainly do not want to do this and I can’t as the sticker will no longer lay flat. The sticker is not designed to be installed more than once.
On their web site is says the best option for the S5 is to use the Samsung replacement back. I ordered the Samsung replacement back from Amazon and even paid overnight shipping as I was excited about using this. This AirDock now charges and it does hold the phone, but nothing like the videos show it. It is not a strong connection at all. I tried it out in my car and it fell off twice while I was driving during lunch. Obviously this is not going to work for me.
I contacted the company and asked for a refund. I was basically told if I didn’t want to put the magnet on the outside of my phone, there is nothing they can do to resolve this and will not refund my purchase. So I had to open a Paypal dispute.
I am disappoint mostly in the fact that the item didn’t work and that the merchant had no desire in helping me. Maybe I have a defective unit - who knows. I would have liked to try another unit, but I don’t think that is possible now.
If you do not have a super smooth phone back or want to add a magnet sticker to your phone, I would suggest you look elsewhere.
Hmm..... I definitely do not want to add magnets to the phones case. That would look horrible. My case is big enough as it is. I have a Zero Lemon 10K I don't even use because it makes the device so big. Sure I can go 3-4 days but at the cost of having 5lbs in my pocket which isn't cool so even with my current case, I don't want to make it more bulky. Thanks for the feedback.

No problem. Glad I could help someone not go through what I am going thru trying to get a refund.
I love my Airdock. This is a picture of what a Nexus looks like in my car. I don't run it like this though, normally a Note 3 goes where the Nexus is.
Few things to note. If it's bright outside, Waze will slowly drain the battery, but at night, it'll slowly charge it up. If you don't run Waze, it charges my Note 3 at around 650mAh.

Doesn't the Note have a super smooth back? The S5 doesn't. And since I added the 'official' back cover as suggested, I can not longer find a case to fit the S5. I really wanted to like this, but I can't afford to have my phone falling down while I am driving.

The magnet is just a sticker. I actually have one on the back of my Nexus 7 and also on the back of a case I sometimes use with it (the sticker on the back does not interfere with fitting into anything). The N7 sticks without it, but I have a Jeep with shocks that need to be replaced and when I drive over railroad tracks fast, sometimes the Nexus 7 can fall so I didn't trust it enough. But no problem no matter how rough i drive since the sticker is added. The sticker is necessary on the back of the case, otherwise it won't stick at all. It still charges through the case, but it's very particular about positioning it just right and in my experience it drains faster than it can charge when using navigation, and would not last on a 5 hour trip. But despite that, this has been by far my favorite dock for any device so far.

On the back of my cover in the truck dash I made I have N52 20mm or 25mm magnets I'm using. NO problem holding it at all.

UPDATE: well... I sent the AirDock back to the company and they have stopped responding to emails. I had to file a PayPal dispute.
Old thread but the sticker does not have magnets in it, just metal to help it cling to the magnets in the dock. I had to use it on my G2 because my Incipio Featherlite won't stick. I may try some thin metal discs between the plastic back and rubber of the case instead.

I cut the sticker out around the buttons and where the Incipio logo would show.
I also have an s5. I have the genuine iq upgrade with back panel but haven't used it yet. I am looking for an airdock or similar solution. I could live with the sticker but just wondered if there are any other chargers out there like this or is the airdock the best option? Will it alway charge slowly? Ie 500mah. Also any links of where to buy as mobile fun is out of stock. Thanks guys
Airdock is already working on the next version, it may be better but won't be ready till April or later.

Terrible product
Buyer beware. Their customer service is horrible. They specifically emailed me to tell me it would work with the droid turbo and it does not. The phone sticks to the pad fine but does not charge. I repeat: Does not charge. I sent them 2 nice emails asking for support and they have completely ignored me.
