Epic 4g Touch compared to a G2x

I decided to make a video comparing my epic touch to a now sold g2x. I always thought the g2x was pretty quick and didn't have problems with the speed, just reboots and lcd backlight. I'm glad to say I haven't had those issues with my samsung phone.
Overall I think the Epic is faster, not by a huge margin though. The battery life is absolutely amazing and don't have any complains.

I loved my g2x.... But the back lightbleeding and overheating killed it for me...

Super Amoled Plus is definitely more enjoyable for watching movies instead of that white backlight.

I've seen this in another video, and they said it's the camera trying to focus, so I guess that's what the noise is. I didn't hear it while recording.

You guys talking about backlight issues, is that anything like the "light seepage," I experienced on 3 brand new EVOs out of the box? It wasn't huge and didn't effect function, but it did look "cheap."

Yeah its the same
Poor manufacturing and quality checks in my opinion... Not all phonds do it but the og evo had the worst ive seen... all by the capacitive buttons...
On the g2x it was really bad in the corners

No screen issues anymore

I got my phone back from the repair center and they gave me a whole new screen and phone. its flawless!!

Yeah there have been a ton of false positives on the issue going away on a replacement. Some pics would be awesome. Either way, if you are happy with it, that's stellar, placebo or not.

The phone was sent to Texas for a broken LCD repair. Took exactly one week. Still in warrenty LOL. Got it back and it was brand new with a flawless screen. Everything looks more vibrant. I don't know where to look for a mfg date.

I am omw home now sorry for no pics, I was out all night at work and a party.

Cool cant wait to see some pics of this beauty.

Those aren't really the sort of screens that cause the flaws to be visible.
Try displaying blobs.jpg in a pitch black room on minimum brightness and take a picture of it in there.

okay back at it again lol. Going to try with low light and the blobs.jpg if i can find it. I called samsung and they sent it right to texas for a repair.

Because of the camera its still ****ty. but you can see no blobs at all and no lines. its all clear.

The best part is the whites are actually white, and the screens blacks are pretty much as black as it gets.

Can't see much from those pictures but if they gave you a new screen then I have no reason to doubt that you may have gotten a good one.

That's awesome you got a good screen. Wish they did the same for mine. I've traded my phone in 4 times with all the same results still having the vertical lines and blobs. I gave up a while back ago and have learned to live with it. It doesn't even bother me anymore.

While having a flaw is annoying, It's so minor in my opinion. It's way to small of a criteria for the problem to exist.

Problems with the panel itself aren't going to show up in a screenshot...
Lots of people notice/complain about these spots though, ever since the phone came out. Its just part of the inconsistency of manufacturing AMOLED screens. Some panels are worse than others. If it bothers you enough, ask for a warranty replacement.

I cannot see what you mean, but I never understood why people complain about the screen of their gnex. Either I have a screen from a good batch, or I'm just not noticing what others refer to.

Common on any phone with an AMOLED screen. There are inconsistencies like banding, ghosting, blotchiness, etc.. Is it serious? Depends how picky you are.

It's common...

Mine looks like a severe case of chicken pox. Also have a terrible yellow screen, but ever since I installed a screen protector it seems to have fixed some of the coloring.

Yeah I have this black dots. It bugs me way too much. And i don't understand this since blacks should be black.

Blue screen?

I am curious if anyone here has ever had their screen suddenly have BLUE everywhere?I just picked it up and there is this crazy light blue tint that is almost on the entire screen.
It is def a hardware issue because it happens in recovery and on boot as well. I can literally watch the blue kind of "dance around" and flicker while I am typing this...
Is this something that TEP will cover? Is there any special things I should take in to consideration? This is awful!

Is the display off? It seems samsungs samoled screens have a blue tint to them.

I guess I did not clarify adequately.
This is when the screen is on. It is just blue artifacting that covers the screen and moves around. It has a slight "ripple" effect as if a liquid is flowing... Blotches and some slight flashing as well. All of it is a very faint yet pronounced blue color that has me convinced that my display is ruined. This makes no sense as the phone was just charging undisturbed for awhile and it Def was not like this previously.
This is definitely not the slight blue tint that these are known for but rather, I think, a completely random/sudden busted display

In turning the brightness up I can now see that all my colors are ruined, not just light blue.
The closest thing I can describe this as is "16 bit " color mode on old school crt monitors.

I've only had it randomly happen one time a while ago. It sounds like something hardware wise is messed up. I'd say flash back to stock and try and get a replacement from sprint.

Try demanding a galaxy nexus if that occurs. They're selling at the same subsidized price. Good luck :good:

Does not work that way. The devices that you can switch to have to be on the exchange list.for the epic touch. The only close option is the EVO 3D

Not true, speak to a higher up and explain you arent happy and they will do a lot to try to meet your satisfaction. They're in the process of getting me a galaxy nexus lte.

So it was a hardware issue. The tech told me that he "replaced the screen" without any further details. Overall I was in and out within thirty minutes, no questions asked, no money exchanged. It looks great now! Pristine without the scratches I had previously (burning man dust / sand murders the glass, never bringing a phone there again) and no more 16-bit color mode!

How bad are ur AMOLED ink spots?

So if u don't already know pretty much all of our s3 phones have black ink spots on the screen when viewing a black background at night time or somewhere really dark. If u don't believe me download the LCD test, go to black color picture wait a few seconds for ur eyes to adjust and ur screen to auto dim in the dark.. and ull see a bunch of stains.
I'm just wondering how bad is too bad?
I have 2 curved lines down the length on the screen and a few other stains. I just want to have an idea if I should replace my screen with hope that I will get less spots or smaller spots than now.

Probably like 6-7 q-tip sized ones. Maybe a little smaller.

=D I only have one spot that looks like some one stroked it with a QTip. Dead center in the screen.
Personally I'd rather have 8 of these marks instead of just one, DEAD CENTER OF MY SCREEN. Brings out the OCD in me.

Don't know and don't care, the phone works perfectly fine for me, no need to be all nit picky over small issues

I refuse to look, if I don't see it now, I won't notice it under normal use. If I do this and see it, I'll constantly dwell on it.

i have about a shirt-button sized circle on the top center as well as a few other random little spots. Doesn't bother me though.

I don't have any.. let's see how many flaws my replacement has :\

That couldn't be more true, but some of us paid a lot for this phone. It's not an issue at all when you think about it, but once you do notice it, it becomes a psychological issue and it upsets the user.

I downloaded the lcd test app and looked. None there.

I got one that looks like south America it's big from center of screen to bottom.

Ooo... replaced my phone today.. for another one.. took a good minute for lady to see it in the bathroom with no lights... had to send her in there twice... bit mine was pretty bad... this new one its almost perfect just a few tiny tiny dots that I can only see with LCD tester in pitch black room... thanx for ur help guys

The spots are like backlight bleed. I don't think a tester will show anything...

I had this issue with my S2; the refurbished one had them everywhere. When I got my S3, I didn't notice a thing! Thanks for the awareness though.

colors are nice, but at what cost. i would trade an HTC LCD screen for this one any day

What's so bad about the ink spots though? Since you can't see it when the screen is or off. Only when it's dark.
