Hi Folks,
I have a rooted .145 and want to check now and then if the .368 is available.
Unfortunately, the "Software update" option in Settings->‘About phone’ is not longer visible. Has anyone had this problem?
The only reason I may think of is that I removed bloatware using Root Explorer and the guidelines in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470
I thought removed some .apk but now I restored all of them back and still the Software update option is not showing.
Hints?
Just use flash tool and reflash, will be easier.
From my phone to your eyes.
Or double check permissions for any apps you replaced.

Couldn't find the reason and I gave up.
I reflashed to the latest version, rooted, starting from the UK generic baseline one and doing OTA on top of that.

All other options to have latest rooted just failed.

Automatic updates > from phone settings menu, not working? How does it looks on Your
Hello all
I recently saw in my phone settings menu option for "automatic checking of firmware update" and also "check for update"
And a question is - does it work on your defy?
I have 2.51 firmware - so i think latest one, but anyway when i click "check for update" new (black) screen appears, with text "checking for update, please wait".... And thats all. It stays on this screen forever, and nothing happens..
No feedback - for ex. that i have the latest one, or sth..
How exactly this works on your defy? I am warried because i think i may had removed some important apk from /system/app
I heard FOTA is responsible for updates? But i didnt delete that one....
so: how exactly this "check for update" works on your defy?
Yes mine did the same thing last week where it was just continuously searching. It is now ok and searches for a few seconds then says phone is up to date.
yesterday i searched for updates in phone menu and it said as it always did "checking for updates is unavailable. tray again later" so i decided to try motorola software updater and guess WHAT? it updated from 2.34 to 2.51.
i think the servers aren't online, or i don't know. but on 5 devices in my country says the same message when checking for updates.
Hello people,
I've a GT-N7100 with these information;
Saudi Arabia 2012 October 4.1.1 N7100XXALJ3 N7100OJVALJ2
However, I've rooted it only for using DroidWall, later I saw Data usage section is already providing that support in really major terms. So, I have looked for unrooting the phone to be able to get future updates. Device status went off to Modified after Root.
Today I've just installed Triangle Away, I was looking the settings of it. Several times checked the box for that new function "allow tracking bla bla" and finally unchecked it. Then clicked "Reset counter" and phone booted. Then volume up -> rebooted.
Then I wanted to return it to factory settings, I did (through settings). When the phone booted up with a factory stuff, things were updating etc. etc.
I've noticed the Settings and Device Status now NORMAL.
Asked system to update, and it said I already have latest updates instead of Your device has been modified bla bla.
Just wanted to share with you, still I have SuperSU and I have no App installed yet to use root access. I don't know after granting any root access, the system will turn this flag to modified or whatever. It is now 28 mins uptime and still Normal.
Just FYI~
//edit: well it turned to modified after an hour. now flashing back to original stock rom. || please delete this thread..
I have an LG Optimus G Pro (E980). It is rooted and Lokified. However, I am still running a debloated Stock ATT ROM. 4.1.2. Yesterday, AT&T began pushing an Update to my current Value Pack Build, with the message "Software Update is Available". with a request to select the push message to begin the update. Of course, accepting this update will result in my having to use LGFlashtools to reinstall the ATT .TOT file.
I have tried to find the [sys]elements that would kill this message, as accepting it is, ultimately inevitable. A slip of the hand and I am in for a few hours of rebuilding. I have frozen a couple of likely candidates (com.lge-fota something) and com.lge.permission something). While they have not proven to be needed for any of the uses of my phone, neither have they stopped the push message.
Does anyone know what might block this "Update is available" push message?

Thanks. In my case turned out to be dmclient.receiver. Could be the difference in builds. I see you have E98010P. I am still on E98010K and P was what I was trying to stop...

I was WRONG. Apparently it was just freezing SoftwareUpdate 4.1.0. Or maybe both combined. Not sure, buddy! I just did the one I told you and STILL got update notification. When I froze SoftwareUpdate 4.1.0, it didn't come back.
HELP WITH ROOTING N7105 - white shield with "unauthorized access..." notification
Hello, would appreciate help.
My n7105 is currently running android 4.3 (apparently that is the latest update as when i clicked on update it told me i am already running on the latest), the baseband version N7105TDVUEMK3, I have installed twrp 2.8, make a nandroid back up to get it ready for rooting. when i try to reboot i was ask to install SuperSu which i did. after booting the device I installed the new version of SuperSU and it asked me to remove Knox which I did. HOWEVER, I then tried to run reset Spen app I am told app fail to run the task and get the white shield with "unauthorized access..." notification telling me to "click here" I do and nothing happens.
Any suggestions on how to disable it completely? Am I missing something? I want full control.
Also, when i check to see if there is any update via OTA, it said this device is modified so can update? can you can i make the system status official so you can receive OTA updates
Thanks!
so I rooted my galaxy tab s 8.4
I rooted and saw it installed super su. I went and ran super su to install the binarys but all it asked me to do is disable knox. which I did and was successful. I then installed twrp and that went fine. since I'm still on stock. How do I disable OTA updates? thank you in advance.
I don't know if it is the correct way to do it, but I just froze the two files called software update in the system files and one called fwupdate (I think). I can get you the correct names of the files tonight.
As promised, here are the three things I froze:
2 x Software Update
1 x FW Upgrade
Though I think you may only need to disable FWupgrade. I have just enabled the two called 'Software Update' and they seem to be connected to app updates and not OTA.

I found the two softare upgrade files and froze them with rom toolbox lite.
I could not find the FW upgrade file you are referring to.
The app I used is called 'Root App Delete' and it is available on Google Play. If you install that, then go into System Apps and select Junior mode (to freeze rather than delete), it should show in that list.
You won't be able to ota with Root and/or custom recovery installed. There's nothing to do.
Also be very careful when deleting system apps.
Ensure you have made a system backup in recovery.
