besides figuring out that it does a 55 in linpack in 1.5 sec on the first run, here's what I did when I first got my hands on our demo...two pics of each side of the motherboard. Sorry for the quality, but it's using my OG epic
http://db.tt/2aofOxR
http://db.tt/epSIeRX
What I've found that's interesting so far through research...that little Broadcom chip? It's what's responsible for Wifi, Bluetooth, and FM. Two little goodies there...it's capable of 5ghz wifi. And....it's and FM transceiver, capable of both receiving AND transmitting FM. Do I smell development of audio through FM transmitter for those of us without Bluetooth in our cars? One can only hope
AnandTech's review gets pretty deep into the guts too.
Thanks squshy! I already see 3 things I wanted on my Epic but didn't have

Any word on the DAC? I tried looking on your pics to find the YMU823 (Yamaha DAC) but can't track it down... hoping it's not there and a Wolfson DAC is there instead.
can you confirm that the GPS unit is the same as the international verison?
The SiRF chip seems really good

Hard to say, since squshy 7 didn't provide a pic of the arm of the PCB, and according to the international SGII review at Anandtech, the SiRF GPS component is located on that arm.
Hope so though, and according to initial reviews the GPS is relatively decent on the E4GT. Not sure how it compares to the complaints on the SGII boards versus the E4G boards.
Sorry, I'm going to see if I can rip another one apart tomorrow and bring my girlfriends point-and-shoot. No promises though. If not, they're sending two of us (myself included) to a samsung event next week, and the word on the street is we'll be given a freebie. Crossing my fingers
If so, ill definitely post up some better pics.
As far as the mics are concerned...there were no labels or writing of any kind, is there a particular way to tell?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, and it's fuzzy so I can't quite make it out for sure, but I think this component here says YMU023, just like the international SGSII:

is that a Qualcomm QSC6085?!?!?!? ...if that is..that is pretty sad..that board should not exist anymore on any smartphone! unless there is some other component on there..that means no future support for Rev B or 1x Advanced :/
Sprint will not be updating to Rev B or 1xAdv so no loss.

Thank you Samsung for showing off the Nexus Prime. It looks sexy to say the least.
i wonder what is that side sensor with the 3 dots?
or are those supposed to be 3 buttons?

I think it's a docking attachment a la Nexus One. No?
it would be interesting if it replaces the USB connectors
assuming they are actually for a docking station, and not some sensors or 3 buttons
Wow that looks thin.
Please let it come to ATT.

WOW, looks magically sexy. Especially the curve. Hope they got a gorilla curved glass unlike Nexus S.

I don't think micro USB will be replaced in the near future as it is standardized in the European Union. As you said it's probably dock connector in addition to the micro USB. Or maybe something radically new.

That looks real sexy! I'm liking the fact that they kept the curved screen. Can't wait to hear all the details.

Hmm if the thicker part is the bottom then it looks like we're looking at the right side of the phone. Maybe the three dots is a sensor-type camera shutter key so you don't shake the phone like you sometimes do when pressing a hardware shutter key?
Would be an awesome concept for still photo taking

Dual-core Snapdragon wouldn't be half bad! Although, most say a TI OMAP dual-core is onboard.

The photo shows it has two ‘humps’ on the rear of the device; camera on the right; loudspeaker and radios on the left. The curve of the screen isn’t as dramatic as first thought, it’s actually quite flat in comparison to the curved blue glow that is atop of it. It also looks very Nexus S on the front and Nexus One at the back. Interesting, thanks @xavierdylan

This IS relevant to my interests. Good looking out.
Cool contest. And its good to know that there is a guy that is printing custom ones. I've had some ideas running through my head that I was wondering if they could get done.
Thanks. Entered!
Can it be done with experiences of other devices too?
Can we by any chance buy one ourselves without competing?

Yes. Visit the GRUVER concepts link in the contest. It should be available for purchase there.

This contest discriminates against people like me who read instructions properly and therefore have never had a bad flashing experience!

It can if too much power is applied. In this case no. It just etches the surface.

The most important part is not the amount of power (or pulse energy) but the pulse duration (you use pulsed lasers for this kind of stuff). If the pulse duration is shorter or almost as short as the heat transfer duration between the atoms/molecules, melting is not a problem any more.
The pulse is "gone" before the heat can effect the nearby matter. You will get really sharp edges.
To win this would be awesome but I've never had any problems flashing anything so "unfortunately" I can't enter the competition, on the other hand I'm fortunate to never had any devices bricked!

Quick update for all who entered...
Just a quick update for all those who entered:
We received over a hundred contest entries, most of which were quite epic (perhaps even of the 4g variety)! Picking just 20 winners (10 GSM, 10 CDMA/LTE) was tough, so I added in 3 bonus winners who forgot to write in what type of Nexus they own, but still provided excellent stories. I will send those three an XDA-Developers T-Shirt instead.
Winners will be announced in an hour, at 11:30a Eastern time. At that point, I will shoot off PMs to the lucky few who had the most entertaining and spine-tingling stories asking for their mailing address.
Thank you to all those who participated in the contest. It's amazing how many crazy tales our mobile devices bring us!

I guess what is odd that its different in the first place, if you have a 100 of something and there all the same and that 101 is off it sorta makes you think why?
My first device has banding issues that aren't great at all, but i'm keeping it. I have seen worse in other threads. I have sent pics of all the problems i have had to google, this way maybe they can check out whats going on with qc over at sammy. I think the problem may be these devices are made in china and the international devices i think are made in Korea. but then again alot of people are having problems no matter which they have!
One thing i will say is googles cs has been great they are very nice and seem willing to help! i don't blame google i blame sammy! sigh but life goes on, there bigger things in life its just a cellphone!!

Not sure about wireless charging. Case connects to micro-usb port inside to activate touch pad like otg usb peripheral device. And it provides an external micro-usb port connection for charging.

How is this helping anything? Maybe this would be handy if you had no thumbs to reach the front of your device.. lol
If it an issue of not being able to reach spots of your Note2.. use Nova launcher and configure it with swipe actions to do things.
I agree.. redundant.
Plus.. do you see how HUGE this case is?? it adds a massive hunk of case below the phone. The pics are very cleverly making that somewhat transparent so it doesn't look like the phone is any bigger.. but damn.. that's HUGE.

But in all seriousness, you gotta agree this is one of the most original and innovative accessories we have seen for Note 2 so far. Also, making case longer has its advantage to lower your grip for index finger to have more room to control the pad. What I would add to this since micro-usb connection already in place, a built-in external battery and to offer a custom case with some bumper/lip protection.
I keep coming back to this to figure out what problem it solves. with one hand I can reach just about everywhere on the screen that I would under normal non-gaming solutions.
Just not the right product for me.
But if you only have 3 fingers or something, great idea!
For those who are curious, this is basically the answer to the Pantech Vega 6, a korean only phone. I'm sort of surprised something like this came out so soon for the Note II, here it is. You may see more similar stuff like this being common as phones get larger and larger.
here's a short ad for the pantech vega 6, but all in korean. http://youtu.be/QwYhG4E3iiY
I just got this thing yesterday from eBay, refurbished from Asus for $209 (32gb) and one of the first things I noticed was a small protrusion from above the microphone jack. Here's my dilemma, I'm really into my electronics looking perfect although I know over time they will have little problems. But is this something to worry about or me just being anal?
I have the opportunity to get it exchanged but it would take a several days and besides being anal I'm not patient.
Thanks in advance.

Well, it's definitely not something that's supposed to be there - I just checked my tablet and it doesn't have that slight lump. The only thing it might possible interfere with would be headphones, and even then there's a really slim chance. Pop in some headphones and see if they work - if they do, there should be no other problems.

I just tested out the headphone jack and it works just fine. So basically it's just an aesthetic issue at this point.
Is it worth going through an exchange for though? Part of me feels as if it has this problem there is a chance it might have others.

For another device I would tell you to get a new one.
But for this tablet...
If you can't find any other issue (dead pixels, random reboot, touchscreen issues grounded or not, etc) you should keep it. The next one could be OK aesthetically but have other problems.

"Yet Another MultiTouch Test" from the play store is a good way to test multi-touch.
If the tablet is in a perfect electrical shape, I would simply keep it. Check the display for dead or stuck pixels, dirt or light bleeding ( though I don´t have anything against it ) and multitouch issues. If the device is usable, I would rather keep it and don´t bother about this dent. The guy who has opened the device before seems to have two left hands though...
its evident that it may have been opened (not sure for what). but as mentioned above, if all works great, no issues at all, just use and enjoy it. other units have issues, and risky to get those to replace a perfectly good one (aside from that bump).
