wp7 7720 Headset/incoming call problem - Windows Phone 7 General

first of all kudos on all the hard work being done on the wp7 rom. i have updated up to 7720 and i love this rom!!! the only deal breaker is when i play my music on zune or slacker radio even through my aux cord , i never receive calls. everybody tells me my phone rings, then has a busy signal. sorry if this has been posted already but i've been searching for hours with no luck. any answer will be good weather theres a solution yet or not...........thanks i'm glad you guys are here!

You might want to make sure you have your phone set to ring or ring+vibrate. If u aren't getting calls at all, then it might be the phone network or perhaps u need a restart. hope it helps.

M2000

Sorry to annoy everybody, I have had my M2000 a while now and there are a few things I would like a hand with.
1) I unlocked the M2000 and am currently using it on O2 pay and go. However I cannot use GPRS, if anybody could help me out by telling me settings and/or how to connect properly I would be very grateful!
2) I am running Windows Mobile SE Version 4.21.1088 (build 14132) are there any upgrades possible at all to be able to use Windows Media Player 10? I don’t mind upgrading operating system as long as it doesn’t cost too much.
3) Is there a way to back up just my text messages from the M2000 so I can have them saved on my computer and/or my 1 GB SD card?
4) Finally (sorry about this) does anybody know why sometimes when I make calls I can’t hear the dial or the person talking but they can hear me? I have checked the volume (I'm not that dumb) but resetting it is the only thing that works, which is pretty annoying.
Thank you very much for your help. I know there are probably a million listings with these answers but if you could direct me to them or give me your own verdict I would very much appreciate it.
Thanks again.
1. do a search in the forum maybe excluded to the networking it forum
search string should be something along these lines "gprs AND payandgo"
or something like that
2
read this
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM5_Home
3. again search for something like "SMS AND backup"
Thanks for that Rudegar, if anybody else can help me out on this one too, I would really appreciate it. You gave me a link to download WM5, are you currently using WM5, and would you recommend it? I have no programming experience really and it looks quite complicated to install so much so I don’t know what some of the files are etc. will there be an easier version where all you have to do is click a button and it will auto install? You’re the clever one here so ill do whatever you recommend, ill take your word for it. Thanks again Rudegar, if anybody else can help please do.
Thank you.
I have had my M2000 for about 2 months and for about the last month i have also been have the same problem as number 4, where people i call can hear me but i cant hear them, when i fiddle with the volume slider on the side i can sometimes (only sometimes) hear a split second of sound from the other person, its SO annoying having to reset
could be a radiostack issue
maybe an upgrade of it will fix it
also had some issues with my xda2 when people call it sometimes take awhile before they can hear me
the cause of that is bluetooth tools which seem to be trying to direct my call to my bluetooth headset
dont matter if i have a bluetooth headset though it still try take about 10sec before they hear me then
Hmmm, glad to hear I'm not the only one with that problem. It is really annoying though having to reset it when i need to make a call. I'm worried about using a radio update as I don't have a clue about who has made it and what it will do especially if its a con. Where can i go about getting a trusted Radio update? Talking about updates, is there a ROM update available?
Guys install this cab file it will fix your problem..
Or while you don't hear the other party just turn on the BT then turn it back OFF this will solve..
read these pages
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
there you get all you need to know about upgrades of all kind
I have taken a huge risk in installing WM5... Well I'm doing my best anyway. I need some help though.
I have so far got to re-partitioning and formatting my device but whenever I press format an error message comes up saying "Error FL_IOCTL_FORMAT_PHYSICAL_DRIVE failed" what the heck does that mean? can anybody help me out?
Big thanks to everybody who has helped me out so far with this and for anybody elce if you can help me, please do.
Thanks.
Anyone know if it is possible to remove a cab file like this after I have installed it? I've loaded it and it seems to have screwed up my pocket pc.
Thanks,
Cian
PHEW!!
I'm so glad i didn't install that cab. I was weary to start with and I'm glad i didn't it appears to be some sort of intruder on a pocket PC which jumbles up the settings. Just for anybody elce who is about to download it, take some advice, DONT PLEASE!!! I'm trying to upgrade my ROM but orange are crappy and dont supply ROM updates yet. Ill try the I-Mate Update. Fingers crossed. Thanks again to everybody who's helped me out!

Total Newbie with Orange SPV M2000 Questions

Hi - great site loads of good info
Ok i have a few questions i cant seem to work out even after reading ! so no laughing !
Phone is a SPV M2000 on Orange monthly pay sim,
What is a Radio Rom ? - does this mean this phone has a radio built into it ? if so how do i unlock it / get it to work ?
My Operator version is 5.31.1.162 / ROM 1.31.00 but i have some problems with the phone - mainly when the phone rings or i dial people ..... basically we cant hear each other or talk, kind of like its on mute or something ? ..... a soft reset usually sorts it but it is really annoying and happens on and off ...... also the phone seems slow ? ..... i have slid the memory line over to 2/3 system memory but still a very slow i think ? .... ive tried searching for a patch that someone talked about but cant find anything ?
Can i upgrade to a new ROM ? ..... id like a UK spec if possible as i don't want funny things going on to the system in foreign languages !!! i have seen a T mobile one, could i use this ?
i have just done the sim unlock and it seems to be ok although i haven't tried on another sim yet
please try and keep it simple, with good links etc if needs be
Thanks in advance
Dave
Hi
Ill answer what I can, as im pretty new to this too.
The radio is not a FM type radio, but the electronics that do things like WIFI and Bluetooth.
The no sound issue is a well reported bug.
I have an orange spvm too and I had it replaced.
The support line took ages to acknowledge the fault, but in the end replaced the phone and this so far is working well.
If for you it does not, then by law you can reject the phone as having an inherrent fault regardless of how old it is, as it was not of mechantable quality when you got it.
The speed,
I noticed that even when you click the little X in the top corner, the app is still running, so this will slow it down.
Your best bet maybe to every now and then do a soft reset just to clean things up.
The Tmobile Rom.
Not sure, as Im also thinking about this.
What I want to know is , will this Rom give me Tmobile settings?

Hi Dave - Welcome.. Remember, we all have to start somewhere..
The first thing I would recommend is reading.. I'm not too sure if you've discovered the Wiki on here but this is truely the best place to start..
So, simple links:
Start here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
A link from this page (titled Getting Started With Your Blue Angel) will lead you to updating your BA to where it will be of most benefit.
This is where you need to start thinking of what's of more use to you.. I, for example, have not updated my BA to WM2005 (or WM5 as it's more commonly known) as I would not be able to Sync with my Work PC easily. In other words, the latest is not always the best! You need to think of how you're going to use your BA and by trial and error, get to your own conclusions. Although saying that, feel free to seek advice on how others have reached a similar conclusion.
If a "seach" (top of the screen - Highly recommended  ) doesn't reveal an answer you're looking for then a simple post with something like "Having problem "X".. Anyone else have it..?" is a lot better then "NEEDED - ANSWER TO MY WORRIES!"
This is outlined here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4534
My second piece of advice is to make sure you know what you're doing.. If fiddling with yor BA is going to lead you somewhere you don't know then perhaps fiddling with it is not what you should do. I don't want to see posts from you stating "HELP - MY BA's BU**ERED!" because you thought that Reading Wiki was for saddos
Remember - Don't run before you can walk..
Tip for Hearing problem - Turn on the Bluetooth and keep it on.. This is a well documented tip for solving the issue.. Updating to the 1.42.00 Spec ROM will also help too but you're right in saying that it will give you the T-Mobile settings.. What you can do there is use the search facility to find if someone has posted a .CAB file with the Orange SMS/MMS Settings
So, start reading..
Hope this helps..?
Cheers,
Hi Dave
Great response by Mr Philly and I wholly endorse everything that is stated.
I am also a newbie (I think this is my first post) and if you want to know anything, wiki is the place to go.
There is a newer Orange UK ROM avalible (Not as new as the T-Mobile ROMs and part of which I have used in my own update) and if you follow the steps through wiki you find out how to apply the roms and where to find them.
I have read in this forum on a number of occassions don't mess with it unless you are prepared to lose it and that must be kept in mind. That said I been really pleased this the usage and function with my SPV since making the ROM updates and my thanks goes to a number of very gifted contributors.
Good luck
simjo.
Hi Guys -
Listen, many thanks for taking the time to reply .... I have read a fair bit but was starting to get muddled up with all the acronyms etc .......
But i now have a more important issue at hand ...... i went out last night and lost my 512 memory card (bugger !) ...... must have un clicked out (i was a bit merry last night) ..... anyway ...... i went to use the phone this morning and its silent ...... no sounds whatsoever, no ring tone , no key pad tones , no sound when playing media files etc .... silent as a whistle .......
long story short i reset it (soft) first ........ no joy ...... then hard reset ..... when booting up it pings and makes a few sounds, so the speaker is obvisously working ....... then once reset its silent again ..... ???
But this is the really bizarre thing ..... if you plug it into the mains charger it all works fine, with loads of lovely sound !!!! ....
Ive made sure the sound is turned up to max and its not on silent etc btw
Time to read the forum i think ! ...... the only thing i did last week was unlock it ..... but its been working fine since then ?
cheers
Dave
next weird update !
after 2 days i have upgraded to the latest roms etc and the phone still had no sound .... i left it on charge for a full day overnight etc , still no sound ...... came to play with it this morning and there it is all working as good as new !!!! ...... lovely sound etc, all normal ......... go figure that one out ?????

Look at your dialing rules, it could be that the phone is adding a digit or two every time it dials out. The radio suggestion might work as well.

PLEASE, for the love of God... stop tormenting me WM!

Why does this phone have to be soft reset so often...
Why does it eventually lag and hang up all the time randomly? I tried so many different roms and they just all result to the same problems after a few weeks use.
Is there no way to make this phone reliable???
I am ranting because I missed my job opportunity with a really big company because my phone froze when they called me and didn't receive my voicemails till days later for what ever reason....
This was the one and only time I really didn't want my phone to hang up, and it had to happen when the company CEO decided to call me back, but since my phone was stupid I wasn't able to respond to the offer in time (2 days later)...
Please... I'm tired of these Windows Mobile Problems...
Dang, that was a bad break. srry that happened to You. dayuum..i know u was pissed. so did it freeze up on u with the stock rom or some custom one u flashed to it? i never had my stock rom freeze up on me. Only when i was constantly trying new apps and downloads or drivers, it tried to act funny. Id reapply for that position and if u get to the point of call back again, take it and try to explain what happened the first time. All isnt lost, just keep your head up and keep trying.

Me too. Anyway, wish you luck if you decide to call back CEO and explain whats happened.
SlimJ87D you got pm
Sue Microsoft for selling you software that's not fit for purpose. It could turn into a class action because I'd say that statement could well be true about lots of software they sell.
Having used the TP2 for half a year, I have had none of the problems you mention.

I have been using WM for almost 4 years and everything SlimJ87D mentions makes total sense to me
i've been using WM since 2003 (7years exactly this august) and i cant remember the last time my device has hung up on me where calls/msgs didn't come in.
Also i'm what you'd call a power user, multiple apps open at the same time and doing 3 things at once.
The majority of lock-ups are from low ram. So just make sure you ram is always good, doing a system cache/temp file clean every now and then (i use dinarsoft's memmaid) and you should be good.
Also sometimes a buggy software will cause the device to freeze, up to you to figure out which one it is if you suspect one.
Best of luck and sucks about that job.
About 2 years ago my exchange server went down without me knowing and wasn't getting emails, when they finally did come through the next morning, i had received an important email concerning a contract deal, called the person back and they had gone with a competitor because i didn't reply soon enough. Lost some money on that and still pissed about it but technology does that to us every now and then.

A lot depends on the phone model and how well you tweak it. I've not had any trouble once the phone was operating correctly. This is one thing that is both a drawback and an advantage of WM - it is flexible, and rewards anyone who takes the time to get to know the OS and the particular phone model.
If you really want "out of the box" experience with any tweaking, I'd go for a different OS.

Wait...your phone froze while you were talking to the CEO of this company, and you couldn't call him back for TWO DAYS???
Ever hear of using another phone? Or a land line?
And I'm not sure what your problem with voice messages was. If you left them messages and they did not receive them, it's their voicemail systems fault, not WinMo's.
If WinMo did not notify you of voice messages that you had waiting, then simply call your voicemail number regardless of whether your phone says you have any or not. You could even call it from a different phone. Not doing so, especially when you are expecting important calls, is simply negligent. Every phone I have ever owned, long before I started to use WinMo, has failed to notify me of voice messages on numerous occasions.
This is as basic as keeping a backup copy of whatever important paper or project you are working on. It should be done with ALL phones, even the infallible iPhone.
I bet I could make an iPhone fail

Totally agree with moogoo here. The voicemail issue isn't really a hardware issue as much as it is YOU not checking your voicemail or them having issues with there voicemail. Not calling the CEO back right away AFTER you reset your phone... I just couldnt imagine the phone freezing on me and not reseting it and calling the person back right away.
You havn't said whether you are running a stock rom or a custom rom on your phone. If it's stock and you are having these issues I would probably go to where you bought the phone and just have them give you a new one as I've never heard of people having that many issues with their phone. If its a custom rom, the only time I hear of people having the issues you are having is because after flashing their phone they didnt do a hard reset after the initial boot up to make sure everything installs properly. 9 times out of 10 if your phone freezes as much as it does you probably just need to do a hard reset.
Now, the comment about it locking up and what not... if it does it every few days, well guess what. It's a freaking computer! I don't know about you but I dont leave my PC or laptop running for days at a time and expect it to be running as fast as it should. I usually turn those off every night or when I'm not using them. Now we cant just go ahead and turn our phones off at night that doesnt make sense BUT you can at least do a soft reset every now and again and it should speed things up. I know myself I do this at least every 2 days. Again... if it's being as glitchy as it is odds are you just need a hard reset. Try running one of NRG's roms as they seem to be the best out there, at least from the ones I've tried.
So moral of your story.... you need to hard reset your phone once if not twice after you install a new rom..... you need to check your voicemail even when it doesnt show you have missed calls.... you need to call people back immediatly after your phone crashes... dont just put the phone down and hope that it starts working again. They have the reset button on their for a reason!

Hey guys, sorry for the late response.
Well this is what happen. The CEO called me to talk to me about the job but at this very time my phone was frozen and hiccuping without my knowledge. When it does this it just rejects all my calls, but for some reason I never got the missed call or anything. It didn't even show up on screen. My phone randomly hiccups and when it does this everything is ignored, I won't get a missed call, it's like my phone is off. I didn't even get a voice mail message. When I checked my voicemail because one of my friends left me one after I ignored his call it finally gave me a message and it said I had 2 missed voicemails. I thought it was strange that he left 2 voice mails even though I only had his only miss call.. and then I realized he didn't leave 2 voice mails. I heard the voice of the CEO, he said for me to try and call him back. I checked the receipt and it was 2 days late! I called back right away.
I left him a voice mail back, but he left on a business trip and had to select someone else... which happen to be my classmate
And yes, it hiccups all the time. A large part of it is due to the amount of text I receive but not all the time. Under my GFs name we have about 1000s of text saved up and it causes the phone to lag sometimes.
Other lags and hiccups happen randomly when I'm trying to do simple things.
I know you guys are probably angry because I'm talking smack about our phones but please, I really wasn't expecting these kinds of problems with my phones. I'm not some kind of iPhone user disguised to troll.
Some of you guys don't' get the problem, yes you guys are lucky. Maybe have different models. But some of us here do.
Don't be quick to judge me so harshly. I'm only a guy here trying to set a realistic complaint because Windows Mobile should release updates more often, we deserve it, and you guys know we deserve it. By not complaining and pretending these problems don't exist gives Windows a right to not want to optimize their OS.
Thanks Lennzy for PMing me possible solutions to fixing my phone and not trying to give me some kind of life advice where you don't even know what happen.
The way the market is going right now, I just don't want to go through this again... it's such a bad experience... maybe it's fate, maybe I wasn't meant for the job and some other better company will call me. But for the time being I need to fix this phone or get a basic phone to just receive and give calls.
You got two new pm's
It's still prudent to check your voicemail at least once a day regardless of phone notifications. One good failsafe, if you can manage it, is to set things up so you automatically receive emails informing you of new voicemail (this is setup for me through Exchange at work, but I'm sure there are other ways).
As previously mentioned, the problems you are having are far from normal. I'm running a cooked ROM with all kinds of incredible hacks and tweaks, so much so that I'd expect the thing to break more often, but it is just as stable and usable as ever.
Not trying to give you life lessons, just pointing out one that you surely already learned.
Slim, are you in the US? If so, at least a temporary solution might be to use Google voice...it'll take over your voicemail functions, and can notify you via e-mail whenever you get a VM, and it'll even send you a transcript and a downloadable audio file of the message

Try Linux - my home server's been up for 3 months without issue and my misses laptop's often on for weeks
Honestly ever since XP I've had no problem leaving my Windows box running for long periods of time.
Most often the only reason it needs to be reset is because of some update.
Linux is not infallible in this matter. While the core OS is extremely stable, very often the window manager, especially Gnome and KDE can be very buggy and prone to crashing.
Of course it is easy enough to drop out of Xwindows and restart it without restarting the entire OS.

Problem with bluetooth in car..

Hi, im sorry if there is a thread about this already but ive searched everywhere now and cant find anyone experiencing the same problem as this..
I have a Desire GSM with the slim ICS ROM (I'm not very technical with the roms and dont know most jargon by the way, although i do try!)
Basically i can connect to my cars head unit and play music through it with no problems, but as soon as i make a call/receive a call all i hear is a robotical scrambled buzz, this is all the other person can hear also. If i press a buttom on the keypad while in call i can make out the noise coming through the scrambled rubbish. I have tried everything, several different roms and phones, but it is only my phone it doesn't work with. So it must be a problem with the phone.
If anyone can help I'd appreciate it so much!
Here is a bug report on google projects with the same problem.
code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod/issues/detail?can=2&q=4545&colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Version%20Model%20Network%20Owner%20Summary%20Stars%20Priority&id=4545
(I cant post outside links so add the http)
Anyone have any information?
