It helps with the dropped keys, because it has a hardware keys predictive text feature. I love this keyboard, and I've had it less than 10 minutes.

I really liked this keyboard! I happened to find another keyboard called FlexT9, it has other awesome features too but one downside is it costs $4.99 USD. Plus it looks a lot better too.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nuance.flext9.input&hl=en
During the early TouchPal beta installing this would drop the function and shift key functionality in the hardware keyboard. (makes them not work) Can anyone confirm if this still happens, or has it been patched?
Been patched. Using the hardware keyboard right now, because TouchPal has a prediction for it, so skipped keys matter not anymore.

Am I the only one that thinks Swype 3.0+ is better? I'm trying really hard to like it but I can't help but feel like I'm typing significantly less efficiently.

Idk, I have no problems with either. They only thing I need to get used too, is that TouchPal adds a space when entering a word with the comma key, or period. I barley have to use the space bar, which is good, I'm just not used to it.

I agree there both good and I especially like the auto correct for the keyboard that's great. The only thing I would like is if there were themes for this keyboard cuz I'm not really liking the colours and if the symbols and numbers showed on the regular letters.
Thanks! I'm glad to have navigation and edit keys baked in

The keyboard. I typed on an iphone 4s and even on the tiny screen the keyboard blew away any keyboard i've tried on Android. SwiftKey sucks. Stock sucks. Samsung's sucks. Thumb keyboard sucks. And I prefer typing to swyping any day.
Why don't we have a good keyboard yet?

Learn to Swype and you'll come to love it. Can never go back to regular typing now that I'm good with it.
I used it for a while on my Evo. Still prefer typing.
I'm gonna have to agree with the op on this when.. My reply was typed with swype.. Lol Stock keyboard sucks.. Swype is bearable but the evo hands down has the best best custom keyboards ever..

Swipe and swift key can suck donkey blongs. Both are very terrible, and i don't get the myriad of groupies who suckle from their tits.
The best keyboard in my opinion is SmartKeyboard Pro. Also very skinnable too.
I have a feeling you might see a huge improvement in ICS. A couple years ago Google bought a company called blindtype, and its technology has yet to show up in android. I'm not saying it will in ICS, but they've been sitting on it for a while and now would be the perfect time.

Thumb keyboard doesn't suck, its one of the best if you know how to customize it. I like swiftkey but the keys are too small. I like smartkeyboard pro too. On my phone I keep going back and forth between smartkeyboard and thumb keyboard. I hate swype, and the stock keyboard. The better keyboard is pretty decent too

Best keyboard is still shapewriter. I was pissed that it was taken from the market, but I was able to get the last update before it was. Swype doesn't even come close to how good shapewriter is.

Swype is fantastic once you get the hang of it...and swiftkey sucks!??? That thing is fncking super-natural in it's ability to know what I'm going to type next and correct mis-taps. Did you let it read your facebook and emails and txts? I am constantly blown away by how freakin' awesome swiftkey is. I actually bought it, and I don't really buy apps...I have bought like 4 apps ever, and that was a no-brainer.
Has the OP tried Better Keyboard? Its the only thing I love. Even though I play around on swyoe some times which is pretty cool
BetterKeyboard 8 was great, Betterkeyboard Pro 9, is not.
They took away a lot of features, and a lot of options.
I like the Gingerbread keyboard myself
I'm.rocking better key board 8 and I couldn't be happier

It's incompatible because swype doesnt see the resolution because of the Softkeys on the bottom (Screen res. is reported a little less then 720p).
As to getting an update on it...Doubtful there will be any before early 2012.
As I understand it Swype got aquired by a different company (Nuance), so they are in the "thinking box" trying to decide which software should be implemented where...

Swype please
I've been in the swype beta program for Android for about 2 years and still waiting for a bill to buy the product. Maybe through the acquisition by Nuance there could be an investment to make it a product (OEM licence or end-user) and then engage the developers to finish the excellent work started by the first team.
Start with ICS and pick up some of the tablet market too.

So, two sets of buttons...
A backup set, eh?
Are you some kind of funny man?
Cm9 has em and I think the goodness 2.1 has em too but I doubt it cuz we have the buttons and not as much room as a nexus.....
Can be easily enabled via build.prop
What's the point really?! Waste of space!
After crunching the.numbers,I came to the conclusion that seven buttons are better than four.
Would be a waste of screen space for me. I'd rather just use the capacitive buttons.
Meh maybe have it as an option ?
We're already limited on screen resolution when compared to the phones that use them. I don't see any reason to waste more when we already have hardware buttons that do the job.
There's actually one really good use for them, and that is when a mouse is paired via Bluetooth. The use case? If you have it MHL to HDMI to your TV or monitor.

I'd like the option so I can try it for myself. It seems like it's a major part of the ICS experience based on CM9 on my nook color....I'd be curious about the phone implementation.
Sure, it takes up space on our limited resolution at 240 density, but, set it to 160 (like all reasonable people) and it's virtually identical. Hell, our screen has the same amount of sub-pixels as the Gnex...if the use of sub-pixels is clever enough (I have no idea) there is little difference between our screen and that of the gnex....simply put (I don't feel like getting all mathematical right now....I know it's not actually the same use of sub-pixels).....I've never seen a Gnex screen, but, my ET4G at 160 density is still sharp and awesome--though some of the smaller items are a tad jaggy....but I'll take that in exchange for the tons and tons of extra displayable information.
Yes, I want the on screen buttons...toggle-able.

I think the whole on-screen button thing is kind of unnecessary. All it does is take up screen space and makes the bottom bezel/margin of the phone look bigger than it needs to be.

Well, looking at it from a different perspective, that space would be taken up by buttons anyway.
Also, it can help ease engineering the design of phones as it doesn't require having to plan for fitting those components there.
And finally, it's one less piece of hardware that can fail on you.

Maybe because this is an open forum where people are encouraged to ask questions, give opinions and basically share their experiences. It isn't beyond the scope of possibility that a new phone has people looking even further down the road at the next new phone and wondering what it might be like.
