[Q] Disable text magnifier? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

When inputting text, when you click on a word you just typed, a little bulb-looking thing pops up and magnifies whatever it is sitting over.
The problem is that bulb thing gets in the way of things like the Swype autocorrect word list. Is there any way to disable this magnifier?
I'm not sure if this is a Gingerbread thing or Sense thing, but I'm running a Sense-based GB rom for what it's worth.

Sense based but Idk how to turn it off.

keyboard not working at times?

seems like everytime I open a text message and go to respond, the keys dont work. I can feel the haptic feedback but no text is entered. I have to exit the app and reenter.. Its not only in Messages, but all apps. Other buttons on the screen seem to work, but the buttons do not.
anyone else been noticing this?
Yup!
I've noticed it most typing in the text box of forums... though it is inconsistent.

Yeah mine does that too and it takes a few seconds to get out of the loop then it can type again. Kinda weird wonder if any fix to this.
Keyboard Issues
+1 to this issue
One exception: My keyboard is typing but it doesn't visually show what I'm typing. When I close the keyboard and reopen it the words I typed then show, but nothing typed further will show unless I close the keyboard and reopen it again.......Again this issue is inconsistent.
I've only had this issue since the 2.2 update.
Anyone got a fix yet?
is anyone running the Overclock widget? It seems like once the message pops up "overclock widget has been granted superuser permissions" everything returns to normal... until I go to respond again ahhhhh
i have the same problem i was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it i thought my phone was goin bad really quickly because i like just got it a couple weeks ago but i dont know what the deal is
if i goto messages i can press all the keys and nothin comes up and if i go to landscape the box is gray and i feel it has to kick in later
another problem i have been having is when i click on to call someone itll call them like 20 seconds later instead of immediately anyone else get this problem too?
i find that if I turn the phone into landscape mode, click the bubble, then turn the phone right side up again.. It works... seems more like a software bug then anything.. or something to do with the sensors.
My friend's Evo running stock FroYo has had this problem. I haven't seen it, but I am running a custom rom. I wonder if that makes a difference.

Have u guys tried a different keyboard? Like the Droid x keyboard?
I'm on fresh too and I notice this bug. Only in messages though.

I'm running stock froyo and this happens quite often to me as well. If I wait a few seconds after I notice nothing typing on my screen it will eventually catch up and let me type normally again. This happens daily.

What keyboard are people using? I thought it was a Swype thing, but it sounds like the problem is more general.

[Q] Keyboard Issues after OTA

Just wanted to see if anyone is having issues using the keyboard after the OTA sent out today. Using the stock Sense Keyboard the auto-prediction is skipping some of my keystrokes if i type too fast. For instance (just one example) when I type "doing" the "n" and "g" are relatively close so if i type too fast it clicks the "n" in but then if i hit "g" too quickly afterward it will forgo entering the "n" and the auto-correct will then change the word to "Doug". Which really sucks haha. Just curious if this is a huge complaint for anyone else.
Yup I'm getting this also, for some reason it is skipping key strokes.

i knew im not the only one, the prediction keeps skipping the ones that i really want it to say. prediction usually pops up with the word im using even if i miss 1 letter but prediction misses the whole thing it goes to another word.
its also lagging
This is the worst. Don't know if I can stand it for much longer. And now because we OTA we can't root to go to a different Rom
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
people actually use prediction? my god you have to sit there and stair at the words that it predicts and then choose the right one, and by that time you have already typed the word and are onto the 2nd or 3rd word afterthat.
this happened to me right when i got my phone. the HTC keyboard couldnt keep up, and that was without prediction or any of that crap on.
i switched to Smart Keyboard Pro and coulnt be happier.
turn off all the prediction crap and auto capitalize, and other garbage and see if the key strokes keep up.
if it doesnt then you got keyboard issues
try a different keyboard app and see what happens.
It doesnt have anything to do with the autoprediction not working its the keyboard not recording the correct keystrokes.
Does anyone have any alternatives to the stock keyboard other than the one already suggested?

I felt like it has something to do with the fps update. Like I was used to typing on a slow keyboard and now its more sensitive. Btw the stock keyboard blows major ****.

ppl actually use the stock keyboard???
So I figured out a solution to the problem for any of you guys out there that are having the same issue. I flashed a few different roms but the same problem with the keyboard kept persisting.
However once I flashed a different kernel on the phone the keyboard worked the way it worked before the newest OTA. I tried the BFS kernel and the BakedSnack kernel and they both fixed the issue with the keyboard. Just a heads up guys.

The only one I can offer is to root the phone and flash a custom kernel/rom. Totally fixed the issue for me. Just stay away from the HTC #11 kernel, seems to be the issue.

No the issue happens whether the phone is plugged in or not. Definitely has to do with the new HTC #11 kernel because even when flashing roms using that kernel, I have the same problem with the keyboard.

HTC_IME works for me, but not flawlessly. I run into a bug where after so many characters (not sure how many) popups disappear and long press on settings brings up a black screen instead of the menu. Aside from rebooting the only way to fix it is to stop the process or deselect the keyboard from settings. I've also experienced issues where typed text will not appear in the text box...even though it's there and valid (can be sent in a MMS, etc). Related to the missing popups, the voice microphone will not appear when listening to speech when the popup problem is exhibited. I think this is exclusive to CM7, seeing as I have never had these issues on Froyo roms...

Anyone seeing odd behavior when I flip thre phone one way I and back I get half screen displays

I get the same thing. May have something to do with it being CM7 browser. But that's just me.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I get it too. At the time I was having other problems too. Impaler had helped me, and I ended up on the genocide kernel with Frozen ROM. But have started to see it coming back again. Plus mine will also not show everything.
The address bar will be blank.
Menu>window> I can see the different windows, but doesn't have the text showing the website name
Go to a site, and it finishes loading but no text. But while I'll scroll, the text all shows up. Once I lift my finger, disappears again.
Plus I click a link, or bookmark, it won't load. I need to tap/click it two times.
Sorry I couldn't really help, but maybe it'll help somebody else that can...
Agreed I have all these issues too. I use an alternate browser when I need to.

My incredible has seen better days..

My incredible will text by itself sometimes (like when I'm typing the screen will freeze and punch random letters like "jgklkon" and ill have to pull the battery to temporarily fix it) and have SMS errors, its not the rom cause I went completely stock and it still did it, any suggestions?

Ghost in the machine...
That's what I call it, Ghost in the machine. I get this type of "take over" where my icons get highlighted in a rotating manner even turning my desktop pages. A couple of battery pulls usually clears it up. I don't know what causes it. I'm running CM7.1

Yeah, I've had that. It's very surprising.
I was given advice to carefully clean the optical track ball. I did and the problem has stopped.
I have no advice to give about phantom texting, sorry.
I had a similar problem on stock, no more on custom roms thankfully
