Is there anyway to add another language to the phone without having to S-Off and install a new rom?
My friend has just bought a Wildfire S but it has n hungarian language.
I have successfully S-Offed my own desire but understand its not available without a clip on this model.(Not sure what the clip is)
Edit
For those that might need it, I made a goldcard and then flashed stock European Rom. Seemed to do the trick
Sometimes when you made a goldcard and reflash with WWE firmware, thats not enough (My Desire Z), I still have seened only English and couple more languages on it, even that, that I use XTClip for ChaCha and Wildfire S, and on them all languages are shown. So, in that case I use MoreLocale2 from market to force use build-in language, even if this is not showned on the phone.
Yes! there is another way
Take a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074445 . you can easily Debrand your cell to another rom (not always possible) and see other languages.
in my case I changed my phone from INDIAN to ARABIC to see Persian fonts

I exchanged some mails with HTC about this. The language that is shown by the phone relates to some internal ID of the phone (CID? IMEI?), not easily changed. The ROM only reads that info and chooses the languages that appear for selection.
My guess is that we need to root the phone first.
Either way, morelocale2 solves 99% of the problem.
Where did you buy your desire? Is it from polish distribution sources? I've bought mine about a week ago, and there is polish locale available (settings->lang and local..).
If there is an option to rip rom from the device, I can do it for u, but afaik there is no such option till desire is rooted, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Hi
There is root acces,
I have rooted my phone but nothing changed !
I am not able to flash and get Polish language
Any ideas ?
Good morning.
I have a HTC Desire which is distributed by Softbank here in Japan.
The default locale in the Desire here in Japan is English and Japanese only.
Is there anyway which I can add a new locale (Display language and input method) without flashing any rom?
I also tried to installed the google pinyin input method in desire.
But when I send a message to other devices which can display chinese characters, what i recieved is just a garbage characters.
I don't think this is anything to do with the softbank. Because I am also using iphone to send the chinese messgae without any problem.
Hope anyone can help.
Thank you and Good day.
I have a similar problem. I have a HTC Desire which was purchased in Singapore, but it doesn't have the WWE locale installed. I can't seem to find any way to install a locale without flashing to a new ROM.
I assume installing a locale on it's own is not possible?
I just bought an Asian Desire (Taiwan version), and would like to change it to a European firmware, so I'd have the right keyboards with rights spelling mistakes for French, Dutch, German and English.
I downloaded the official European ROM: RUU_Bravo_HTC_Europe_1.15.405.3_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_121865
I tried to install it. It started well and went into the bootloader (I have version 0,8), but then I got "Error 130".
After looking around on forums, I thought it might not have worked, because I didn't make a Goldcard, so I made one, and tried again. But this time I got "Error 140".
Anybody has an idea of what the problem could be?
well have you rooted your phone?
you don't need to root your phone to install RUUs, just the gold card.
It failed because you have a newer bootloader than the one in the rom you are trying to install. Try the WWE (World Wide English) version 1.21.405.2 - it has the languages you are after.
Thanks for the help! I'm downloading the WWE version, and will try to install it.
I'll get back to let you know if it worked or not ^^. I'm in China, with an awful connection, so it can take a little while .
Thanks! The WWE version works great, and has an AMAZING amount of languages! I couldn't get any happier, as I wasn't hoping to get this many languages!
Now just to get the root, and I'm in heaven <3
Thanks a lot for the super fast and great help!
Hi, i just installed virtuous-vision_froyo_rom-v0.9.0 on my desire z but cant see russian language in it. Am i missing something? If there is no russian in this ROM can anyone direct me to a rom that has russian language in it? Also, do i need to root again to flash another rom since i permrooted my phone?
Sorry but when I saw "no Russian" it took me back to the airport science in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Have no clue about a Russian Tom but you will not have to root again since you are perm rooted, hence the term perm --> permanent

Just to inform and maybe help others i will tell you that i factory set my phone and now i can see many languages including russian, portuguese, turkey and more
Hello,
So, I changed to CyanogenMod on my Wildfire (BUZZ), and well, I just wanted to get back to the Official Rom, i didn't find a good alternative to the social networks integration that HTC use in their Rom.
So, I have tried every single RUU in shipped-rom.com, and with everyone I have those problems (which are small, but problems after all), I can't choose French, Spanish, etc, with the intenational keyboard, I just have the option to english (if i selected another language in my system) or asiatic stuff if i have my system in english.
And, moreover, the Android Market (which is a very very old version) doesn't update to Google Play, so I can't use the market desktop interface to download things.
And that's all!
thx in advance!
If u want HTC sense back without all these problems, root again but this time install another Rom instead of cyanogen, the best sense based rom in my own opinion is rempuzzle, you will find it much faster than stock Rom and the store will update to the play one.
