I was wondering which rom out of the many available - is best in terms of battery life?? I didn't really want to start a whole new thread .. but i am looking for those here who have flashed most of the custom desire roms on XDA, I need a rom that manages battery better then most.

I'm pretty sure that you are going to have lots of answers. Unfortunately, each one, talking about one rom or the other will tell you that its rom is better that others.
I'm running a ROM developped by a single developper (Itanium 1.8 today) and the battery life is pretty good. Undervolt mod is included, several optimizations have been made for battery usage, but again, I'm pretty sure Cyanogen and OpenDesire (these are examples, not the only ROMs working fine I guess) are good at saving baterry life...
So I would say it's hard to tell, and the best advice would be for you to test several of these and find the one which best suits your needs... You might end with a ROM which might give you less battery life, but which would looks better for you and for your usage (Sense based, without Sense...).
Hope this makes sense.

thanks for the info bro I hope others will also post a comment. Although, as you said - opinions will dither, it will still be good to get an overall opinion from many XDA desire users.
With every new release and updated base I am trying all 3 roms and do some couple days testing, would like to share my opinion that I can not tell any difference in stability, performance and battery consumption between these roms.
Please can anyone who sees differences share their opinions on what difference they see.
please leave... wrong section. Study, use search etc.
Why you don't give opinion if you try all 3 after every base update? I'm using OrDroid and i'm very happy with.. I can't comment about others, but i would love to hear your experience?
.
What is best for me may not be for you, test´em all and share your experiences in the proper ROM existent threads.

I'm new to all this myself, but from what I have been able to learn most ROMs will give battery life and performance improvement. As far as gaming specific ROMs, I am not even sure it will make a difference...
People use lots of different ROMs for daily use - usually they will post in the ROM thread saying something like "this is now my daily..." You could try the search term "my daily" and see what pops up?
But if you just want to make sure you're getting best battery life and don't necessarily want the extra features of a ROM, you could always just check that there's nothing putting unnecessary drain on it. Check out these links for tips on optimising your battery:

You can use those battery tips even if you're running a ROM, so I'd say it's worth looking at those first... hope that helps!

ROM's are too subjective to what each individual person likes so you cannot say one ROM is better than the rest. What you think is the best ROM might be someone else's worst ROM.

Anyone looking for a Rom with good Battery Life and awesome sound quality should check out BlackLiquid 4.2.2.From Cle3Kener I am not trying to say that other Roms are not good because i have tried most of them and they are all good (some better than others and sometimes much better) its all about personal preference. By the way hats off to all developers who spend their time to gives us these things to make our devices way better. I personnally look for great sound and battery performance . Check out Blackliqiud and be sure to run the scripts that are posted with the rom. Also if anyone has input on a 4.4 rom that matches my decription of what i am looking for in a rom let me know ?. Thanks Cl3Kener for this realese.
Yeah always been a favorite of mine but AOKP kk is awesome

As this is a question that only the individual user can answer, and as best rom threads get closed as they always end up in arguments, so goes this one.
Try all of the product beings offered and flash them until you find what it is you desire.
Hello all !
I recently buy an samsung galaxy s9, I love it because of his size, today all manufacturers are racing for the biggest screen diagonal, but forget about the people who like compact phones.
the only thing I don't like is that the battery doesn't really last. I use some social networks like instagram or whatsapp to chat and the battery is not consistent enough for me, I think. (I uninstalled the bloatware app and made a maximum of optimization).
So I'm thinking about the solution of installing a custom rom. I'm doing some research and I like the pixel experience or the lineageOS.
The reason of my post is to ask you, you who know much better than me, is it really going to increase the duration of use?
Do you have any advice on this ? I read that you have to calibrate the battery after installing a rom but maybe you have other advice, a rom in particular, settings to do ?
For rooting i find this thread in this forum > https://www.thecustomdroid.com/samsung-galaxy-s9-plus-root/
but i got a SM-G960U1 that is not supported..
Thanks you a lot for all ur answer and information good to know XDA members !

I recommend to install a battery stats app, such as better Battery Stats (BBS), record an idle dump and then post it in the BBS thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-2-2-05-oct-v2-4-betterbatterystats.1179809/).
There are experts analyzing your stats and giving advices how to optimize your battery life.
Unfortunately rooting and flashing custom recovery/roms is not possible on devices with locked bootloader ... Like yours. Do you must unlock the bootloader first ... If possible.
