I am new to this Forum and posted this previously in the wrong section
I am interested in eliminating HTC sense and some of the Sprint bloatware from my HTC EVO 4G. Can someone please explain how to do this? Do I need to ROOT my phone, install a new ROM or BOTH? If a new ROM is required, which ROM would you recommend?
Also, in case I run into any issues, I would like to be able to restore the stock HTC EVO software (OS). Is that possible? From my understanding, this would be possible. Is that correct?
Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated.

here is some info on rooting your phone. read, absorb and see if it is something you want to attempt. (its not difficult, you just need to follow directions accurately)
you may also want to do some searching of the forums for the rest of the info you seek. the folks here are helpful, but can be a bit on the hard side if you arent doing anything to help yourself.

What is the most comprehensive instructions available on this site for rooting an HTC EVo and installing a cyanogenmod ROM on it? Also, does the current cyanogenmod ROM support 4G?
Cyanogens rom does not support 4g yet. What you need to do is read as much of the stuff on here as you can for about a week or two. Especially if you have not rooted a phone before. Good luck.

I've had a look through the threads already and couldn't find anything that would've been of any use to me.
Anyways, I'm getting a DHD from my brother soon seeing as he's getting a contract upgrade in the next month but the problem si that it's locked on 3 and i'm on T-Mobile.
So, I was wondering, is there a simple and easy way to unlock the phone myself? The Samsung Galaxy S2 has an app that will generate an unlock code for it but I couldn't find anything similar for the DHD.
Would really appreciate the help

Hi, and welcome to XDA.
There is a tool to SimUnlock your handset, you can find it here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9524174#post9524174
However, if the handset came with Gingerbread (2.3) then there is a chance that it can jam up your HBOOT and cause booting issues. However it is recoverable, so it might be worth running the SimUnlock then restoring your handset.

Thanks for the help, i'll give it a shot when i can. The phone came with Android 2.2 and was then upgraded to Android 2.3 when it was released. Will this affect it?

No, that is good. You will need to downgrade to use this tool though.

So I have an S4 Mini (NA7) on the Sprint network that I am looking to make a project out of. My understanding is that it's ESN is blacklisted (or no longer whitelisted) due to non-payment. My skill level is pretty low, but I've flashed recovery and rooted so far and am looking to have some fun and perhaps learn a few things like flash SPL and unlock CID.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

first of all always make a full backup
i don't know the usa laws but maybe there is possible to rewrite ESN without violating the law(or you simply don't care) but as far as know in this forum is forbidden topic

I'm relatively new in the community however I've been following couple of projects here that are pretty sweet.
I'm a proud owner of HTC One M8 (International edition, bought in Belgium). Last time I've rooted my phone I've ran into number of problems primary with the phone constantly restarting and having a problem with SuperSU. Now I have couple of questions that I've wanted to ask the community:
What is the safest and most reliable way to root your phone guide for an idiot like me? (some tips before the start of the procedure?)
How to back up all your data, including the homepage and pages application and widget placements?
Is there an application that informs you the about a new firmware updates for your phone? (Since the last time I've rooted my phone there were no information on software updates coming).
If someone could help me out with these questions I would really appreciated.

In the past, as a rule of thumb, I have always rooted and ROM'd most (if not all) of my old phones.
It's been forever since I did the process, and I now have a Galaxy S8+. I guess I am looking for general knowledge. What's the safest way to root? Any suggestions for a complete MOD for a beginner to the whole customer S8+ scene?
