Hello all,
i joined this forum to help me decide which mobile to buy and i bought in the end the awesome Desire.
I am from Egypt so i bought it from there , it was released here on second of October.
it has built-in Arabic support in text input window, it doesn't show in the normal keyboard input screen but to activate Arabic language i need to do the following which i got in a reply from htc support here in Egypt
Hold & long press at any empty space of text input box, you will see a message to change input keyboard.
Select the other input method & press ok.
You will see the Arabic keyboard.

i want to help in making Android more popular, in the middle east, and since Google refuse to release official support for Arabic, i guess the only way i can do that by offering my mobile to you to see if we can extract the Arabic support plugin/software and be able to install it on any android based mobile.
i used to be a power user in Symbian but now i am a newbie in android so anyone interested in helping me ?
the android version is 2.1, they told me 2.2 will be available next month through OTA.
Regards,
Ahmad
Salam Ahmad,
Sorry to bust your bubble bro....
But I have already rooted that ROM (leaked) and added A2SD+ 2 months ago
check it out
http://www.ce4arab.com/vb7/showthread.php?t=238900
Froyo with Arabic support would be a great plus!
Nice job
But what i want is to be able to extract the Arabic addon and be able to add it to any other ROM
like for example i want very much to instal the Desire HD Rom on my Desire but i will be missing the arabic support
So i am looking for help to extract the arabic support addon and be able to install it freely
is this even possible ?
Hi
Maybe you should be in contact with this guy (Ayman): http://ardoid.com/?p=41
He added Arabic support to Froyo (but of course with some bugs), maybe you could help.
the android version is 2.1, they told me 2.2 will be available next month through OTA.
Sorry, can't help you with the keyboard, but am very happy to hear that we will finally be getting Froyo - in November???
HTC would not give me a date when I asked!
Salaam.
Guys i found the arabic support intalled inside the Application Manager ad it is named "Arabic Keyboard" and it is version 2
is it possible by any mean to extract the apllication to be able to install it on any other HTC or even Android mobile ??
Look for the .apk under system/app/ and data/app/, it will be there. Then pull it using adb when you're in Recovery. I can try and push that apk on mine and see if it works.
Arabic support should entail more than that though but a keyboard that even just writes would be very helpful to me too.

sorry but i am still a newbie regadring android
Can you please tell me what is adb and how to enter recovery ???
Hi,
You can get the .apk file with easy way. Install Androzip from the market, open it, it will show directly the files on SD card. Press the arrow up in the menu to leave SD card and navigate to system files. Open system folder : System -->> app -->> here you have all .apk files
Hold & long press on the .apk file you want, -->> copy, you can see now 2 new options in the menu, cancel and copy here.
Go now to home in the menu and you can paste it in ur sd card -->> copy here.
thats all you have the .apk file on your SD card.
good luck.
Unfortunately i can't find it in this folder
i found HTC_IME which i understand is the interface for the touch keyboard made by htc, can this be the one we need ??? its size is 4.2 MB
using "Android System Info" i found the name of the Arabic Keyboard software.
com.parfield.inputmethod.arabic
Click to collapse
but still can't find it inside /system/app
any suggestions ?
Like mentioned, look in system/app/ and data/app/. The name might be different.

hi i'm korean user.
(galaxy gio, like that?)
i install my gio "cm7 for gio ".
installing is not problem. but,
after install, i see the 2 big problem.
1. G-sensor is upside down.
for example, when i hold my phone right, phone screen is upside down!
(it's all way,dude)
2. Wifi
if i touch the wifi button, show the error message.
sometime, just on wifi(not serach, and not connect)
[sorry for my english]
but, i thank you CM7 developer. and korean user.
(if you want deodex file, i give you anytime)
please send e-mail [email protected]
so, please! can you fix this problems?
Did you do full wipe?
The problem is not the full wipe here, i think. In asia, another type of gio was released, which may contain other type of proximity sensors and modem chips as european, american and arabic ones. Myopinion is, that this problem will consist, unless you fix it for yourself...

I think the korean version is different, i try googling and i found the korean version gio is SHW-M290K, not GT-S5660. Maybe there is something different inside SHW-M290K with GT-S5660 CMIIW
Some Gio users in Indonesia have reported that too. He has SHW-M290K, then he flash it with other Firmware (not Korean version). He had G-Sensor down, Wi-Fi not working, and Bluetooth didn't work.
Hope this help you
For the different models, see this thread.. The asian model has considerably different hardware, you might have SHW-M290K model.
There is a facebook group for gio and cm7 with some indonesian users, they might be able to help you out. I don't have the url, though.
I also have Samsung Gio M290K from Korea and I openline here in Philippines after openline it ,
wifi - not working
blutooth - not working too
can u help me back my phone in original version
thank you in advance
Could somebody please explain all these different locations (?) e.g. If my original SGNII N7100 came with XXALJ1, can I use any ROM for N7100, despite the XX notation?
Thank you for all your help and suggestions...the answer is here
http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3&model=GT-N7100&pcode=-1&os=1&type=1#firmware
Just type in N7100 on top right search.
Please hit THANKS if it helped - thank you
Can you help me...
I dont know how to look for my version's phone....
Ap N7100xxalij1
Pda N7100xxalih
Csc N71000xxaalij1
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
If you clicked on the site mentioned, then on the top right part of the screen, there is a search. Type N7100 and you will see a very big list of all types of N7100XX...
Press CTRL F on your keyboard (if you are using a computer) and search for the string XXALIH, or for your country name. You will see all the Firmware which are OK to use for your region - Hope that helps. Which country CSC would you like?

Since I updated my Note 2 “N7100” to android 4.1.2 stock rom through ODIN two months ago, I see this message every time I try to open S note and also upon starting up the device “Unfortunately, S note has stopped”
The only thing I can do is When I call someone and I pull the stylus the Mini S Note open and I can write whatever I want in the mini note and save it but after that I cannot open it gain, actually I cannot see it gain
After rooting the device I tried to uninstall S note then flash it again through the recovery “I grab the source from XDA forum” but it didn’t help
I google this problem in the web and I found some threat here mentioned that the solution is as following
Setting>Language and Input>Samsung keyboard setting>Handwriting>Input language, then I should install any language and that will fix the problem
But when I entered the “Handwriting” There is no “Input language”, I have only the following inside the Handwriting :
Recognition Type – Recognition time – Pen Thickness – Pen colour – Gesture guide – Tutorial – About
That’s it no “Input language” inside the ” Handwriting”
I only find the “Input language” when I first entered the Samsung keyboard setting but not inside the ” Handwriting”
I also tried to restore factory setting but also it didn’t help
I know there might be a similar threat for this problem here but all of them didn’t work for me
Can anyone help me to make the S note come back to life
My note 2 details :
Note 2 Android version is 4.1.2
Baseband Version: N7100DDDMG1
Build Number : _____.N7100XXDMG1

there's a new s note apps on Samsung apps (store). just go there, click update. but note that its not really an update. you'll actually be installing a new S Note apps (yes, you end up with two S note apps after that). but you'll be prompted to import files from your old one.
good luck.
Thanks mydragoon
I searched Samsung app for the S note app you mentioned but I didn’t find it
I only find S note viewer
Can you please send me a link to the app you mentioned
Thanks for your help

hi... sorry for the late reply.
when you login to Samsung apps store from your note 2, it should prompt you to update. that is the case for me... not sure if that helps...
Hi,
I just got a new galaxy a5 2017, and i saw that the phone doesn't have any rom on the dev page.
So I would like to dev one by myself but before I begin the project i have a few question, I have already searched on internet but every tutorial have been done in 2012-2013. I need to tell you that I never build any rom .
The GA5 2017 doesn't have samsung update to nougat so can I take nougat AOSP ?
How can I be sure that the bottom will match with the rom ? (when I push power bottom, the phone will start ?)
How to be sure that every hardware will match with the software (APN, BOTTOM, SCREEN, SENSORS ETC) ?
Does samsung give a sort of map of the different hardware of the phone to be recognize by the software ?
So before I begin I need to know those things and if you have any others advices they are welcome. If you are a developper, I will be very interested if you can help me and learn me. :good:
Thank you for your answers.
