Ever since I flashed to gingerbread 2.32, the stock UK version, [I originally had Rogers gingerbread 2.33, flashed to UK 2.32, got root, and did OTA update to 2.33] when I launch the Xperia Play games launcher it is behaving very strangely.
For example when I tried to download need for speed hot pursuit it took me to EA's page where it said, "we're sorry but the game you selected is not available for your handset." Similarly when I tried to download Modern Combat Black Pegasus it just took me to "en.gameloft.ca," not the game's download page.
Usually when I tried to download games with my Rogers 2.32 firmware, it would take me to a page, which would give me an option to charge the game directly to my Rogers account, or, to a credit card checkout page. What's going on?

I stupidly deleted funandgames.apk on my rooted xperia play.
now when I flip open the pad I cannot goto more games and see what new game delights is available
I have downloaded system dump and still can't find the newer .368 dump
just the old one with getgames.apk which doesn't retrieve any games. just says loading and distant do anything. anyone friendly people Wanna share funandgames.apk with me or direct me to a system dump with this on. your help would be appreciated.
also my battery drains quite quickly on .368 compared to .184 still the same apps etc running nothing different any ideas people. will this stablise over time? cheers
It's the firmware that's killing your battery. Use a generic 2.3.2 and ota to 2.3.3. Had some problem. Also I froze the fun and downloads.apk just press the search button at the top right to see all the xperia play optimized games in the market. I noticed ea and gameloft games don't show so here you go.

It seems no one try to play these two games in their A100. Disappointed.
Finally, I can play Hot Pursuit. EA had released a new version 1.0.55 which is compatible with Tablets.
Now I'm waiting the new version of NFS Shift.

Unfortunately that doesn't help those of us who don't have a tablet sitting around all I have is my phone to download data on, so it looks loke no SimCity for me. Have there been any other fixes to get this working?
I got myself a Nexus 7 as an early Christmas present and have been busy setting it up, updating and bringing over all my apps this weekend.
The shine of owning a brand new device quickly wore off when I discovered that pretty much none of my games now work under Kitkat:-
Modern Combat 2 - can't look around, icons all wrong size
Modern Combat 3 - crashes at startup every time
Modern Combat 4 - occasional crashes during multiplayer matches
Nova 2 - crashes at startup
Nova 3 - HUD graphics messed up, can't see ammo counter
Asphalt 6 - aspect ratio messed up
Asphalt 7 - crashes during free spin, random crashes in races
Asphalt 8 - has linked to my account on my old device and keeps telling me my cloud data is out of date
I know that Gameloft do not exactly have high standards of software development, and I know also that they NEVER update their apps properly. So I'm looking for ways to get my game library to work as I play these games regularly with my young son on local multiplayer.
Could I perhaps install a custom ROM in which these games work? perhaps downgrade to JB? does anyone have any ideas?

First off - are you running ART? If you don't know what that is, you probably aren't.
If you're not - then yes, jelly bean would be an option. check out CyanogenMod 10.2 for your N7. Of course, this requires a custom recovery and root, all of which can be done with this handy tool: http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/

I'm not using ART - but might take a look at it later once I've had it for a bit longer. I'm already rooted and have TWRP courtesy of Wugfresh so I might give cyanogenmod a try. If not cyanogenmod could I perhaps flash a stock JB rom and somehow block it from immediately downloading the update (which is what it did when I first got it)?
Does anyone have any positive reports of better compatibility with JB roms on this device?

Not sure if you can block it from downloading the update, but what you can do is go to all apps, then uncheck notifications for google services framework which will get rid of the update notification.

You can block updates using Autostarts. There is also an app called Fotakill that is supposed to stop updates but I've never used it.
Hi, maybe the question has been asked about a million times, but does root access compromises apps in the play store? I'm asking this becaus I bought GTA San Andreas on my Xperia Tablet Z (no root). When I go to My Apps in the Play Store using my Xperia ZL (rooted), it says for GTA San Andreas "Device Not Compatible". While Rockstar says it IS compatible with Xperia ZL. So questions:
1) is GTA San Andreas compatible with Xperia ZL?
2) if yes (Rockstar says it is...), why can't I see it in the store?
3) if question 2 applies, how do I fix it so I CAN see it?
Hope someone can help me out here.

That's weird. I have the Xperia ZL C6506 running 4.2.2 on build 67 also rooted and GTA San Andreas shows up just fine on the Play Store. Is your phone stock and only rooted or you have a custom rom and kernel also. If you really want to add the game to your phone you may wanna try manually install it on your phone by grabbing the APK from \Data\App of your tablet and also the downloaded data from GTA which it looks like its a good 2.38 GB.
You may also wanna have a look at this thread..maybe it applies to your situation:

Thanks. I've tried another thing. I repared my phone using PCC. Thus removing root. The app still showed as Not Compatible. This makes me think the problem is something else. I have this phone imported from Germany. I live in the Netherlands where the Xperia ZL was never released. My google account knows i
I'm from the Netherlands. Could this be a problem for the compatibility? I mean, the ZL not showing up in the compatibility list for the Netherlands or something? I've already contacted Rockstar about the problem, but no solution yet. Maybe someone here has the same problem

So, not in a long future I am going to buy Ouya android gaming console, cause I have found pretty great deal. But I heard that the "Ouya Store" is shutdown + most of Ouya titles are arcade-type of games...
So I have a big big big request, if you still have pre-installed games on your Xperia Play phone could you back them up for me to .apk format and kindly include the data (.obb file)?? <3 unfortunately I had sold my phone few years back and since it had playstation controlls I think it could run well on ouya (I hope this ain't against XDA forum rules)
Please, help me out <3 cause I would love to play some The Sims 3 or Bruce Lee or some since delete EA or Gameloft Games (like Nova or Dead Space ) on full screen.

I actually loathe all the built in games aside from Crash, but I can help you out here at least with The Sims, recently got a play from ebay with it installed. I'll try to download the other games too, I tried Crash out of curiosity the other day and it still worked.
Though I'm not sure they will work on any other device.

If you managed to get Crash working, could you upload the files for that? I'm talking about the .apk and .zpak files. I'm only asking you because I can't seem to get it working on my device (but then again I've got a custom ROM and unlocked bootloader...) and I'm not particularly keen on returning my phone entirely to stock for the possibility of maybe managing to download it myself.
You actually can take out the game apks from the firmwares, so actually dont need to reflashing many times of your device at all.
Though i've some question to ask. Im own the Asphalt 6 HD before buying at the Gameloft website at old times (but when installed the game is not HD at all), but the game refuse to download the data, thou im still thinking why is not working anymore in this year but when im use the game apk from the Japanese FW, (this is the truely HD) and the game just works. If there any way to bypass it, please PM me. Many others Gameloft games that i've buy and own is not working anymore, but only from the Firmwares still works.
