I think Im not only beginner here whit rooting, modding, overclocking and that kind of things. So is there some risk's that should know before start rooting. I'd like to root my defy and make it faster somehow coz' it's sometimes very laggy and slow. My defy is nordic version deblur whit android 2.2.2
So it is safe to root?
How I can make my defy faster and less laggy?
And is it safe to overclock?
Thanks in advance!
And sorry for my "not so good" english...
you can root your phone without a problem if you want that your phone became faster install a custom rom such as cm7 or miui or a leaked gb.you can unroot anythime by flashing full sfb again

Well, which is the best rooting app ? And if I could use modded rom I'd like that leaked defy+ rom, is that totally full working and safe ?

It's all here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=898036
and here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.SetVsel.Inteks.org
have fun!
Ty for that!
And one more question. Why my defy uses only something bit more than 200mb of RAM?
I think thats reason for laggy....
Send from my motodefy using XDA app
Use Set CPU from market an set clock between 600 and 800 mhz. This is IMHO the safest way to use the processor. Mine works great after that tweak.

There is pretty much no risk on rooting.
You should read the Beginners guide in this forum section, very first post.
All you need to know is there, and there is info about rooting too .

I've used SuperOneClick2 to root multiple Defy's. setvsel (available in market) is good for overclocking/undervolting.
DEFY has a LOCKED bootloader. it means the chances to brick the phone are very very slight. so don't worry, watever happens, just go to stock recovery and everything returns to the first day
I may found my problem for laggy....
PLEASE read this ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1247314 ) I really need help......

Yes, you need the kernel that comes with cm7 (if you want just the kernel and not cm7 you can still flash it, just download the pack in the cm7 thread and in the .bat file you have to run you must delete the middle two lines, save it and then run it. This will break the camera though).

When I installed my system.img back-up over cm7 but left the cm7 boot.img there it still worked, except for some sd card problems I also had in cm7.

Any way getting this without root. HTC posted 2.3.3 official and.i need to unlock bootloader. How can i do this
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
Dont do it official 2.3.3 sucks... and to downgrade to froyo in the future you will have to S-OFF and flash RUU which might be too hard for some people.
Either stay with Froyo or Root and use custom ROM's, trust me.

What is bullsh*t in what he is saying?
I have loads of people who wants to get away from the official gingerbread, because it s*cks on the danish android forum... Maybe some people thinks its fine, but most people who are trying it, thinks that it s*cks and they want to either go back to Froyo or get a custom ROM, which isn't easy with the official Gingerbread...
So please explain why you are saying stuff like that !!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Not easy eh, you just have to go to revolutionairy.io, click to download the program, fill in your desires serial number, you get code, run downloaded program, enable usb debugging on desire, fill in the code and the program does the rest for you.... Yeah really hard....

Didn't really wanna get into the argument but firstly, I have seen many people do the update.. and then their phone didn't even boot after it.. so well done HTC for releasing a possible phone bricker (since you can't do jack all if that happens with this RUU), You get less space on the GB update compared to Froyo (123mb vs 134mb) and there have been a few bugs reported..
HOWEVER...
You get improved battery life (by quite a margin apparently), The phone runs q lot smoother, you get the fastboot feature and better (stock) A2SD.

This argument is invalid, as you can move to SD card A LOT MORE apps and data.

Hi, im thinking od downloading roalex update 1 bravo what do you think are there any better kernels.thx
1) Never heard of it
2) AOSP or sense?
Its on the rom manager i have oxygen 3.3 rom od something like that
For Oxygen, I thought _thalamus' default kernel was best
What if. I wanted to change my rom how will. I het my previous settings back?
Not sure what you mean? All roms come with a kernel (otherwise they would not work) so when you install a new rom, kernel is replaced.
Rather than rom manager, I always suggest learning to do things manually using recovery. You learn more and understand more of the process.

Some kernels can go to 1190 Mhz, but most desires cannot handle this, or even 1152
yeah but i saw some people with even 1.9 on desire and someone else had stable 1382 mhz on opendeisre rom but i would like to get 1.3 ghz.yeah but i guess 1113 is nice to
1190 is the highest. Back in the open desire days it was 1305 but this was not true. A mistake was made and the incorrect multiplier was used in the kernel. It said 1305 but wasn't really. 1190 is max. Desire cannot handle more

hi ! i am new to this website. i have visited several threads regarding downloading the WILDPUZZLE ROM for HTC wildfire. All the links posted in those threads direct me to a site called "tat.tw".
For eg, the links posted in this thread:

all redirect to a site "tat.tw".....
i am unable to download this ROM.....
so please help me
am i making a mistake somewhr??
i use adblock on my google chrome but i have tried turning that off......
please i like this sense based rom very much...
how can i download???????????????????????????
i don't know anything about wildpuzzle, but you can try RemPuzzleRom which is a remake of the wildpuzzle but it is actual with working links)
I recommend using Rempuzzle, as the original Wildpuzzle was discontinued while Rempuzzle is still actively developed (Rempuzzle is based on wildpuzzle)

hehehe mine doesn't, I'm set to 528 on rempuzzle rom and its still as fast as I've had cm7 running at 768. Sometimes faster isn't always better imo.
I totally agree with scratch, rempuzzle runs smooth as butter on 528 for me too. But yes its o/c enabled.

Rempuzzle can't be compared to.miui at this stage since rempuzzle is awesome and is much stable than miui.

I installed RemPuzzle yesterday, and it's really great. But I didn't find how to set cpu speed. Am I missing something. I must admit, I'm far from good in android even I have phone more than a year. I changed several times ROM's but till RemPuzzle, I thaught that CM7 is best. Now, I enjoy in sense again
And one more thing, I updated to 2.42 version, and than my Root explorer is lost?
You need to install an app called SetCPU.
You can get it free here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=505419
Download Esfileexplorer free from market, enable root from settings and mount as writable. Just as good if not better.

I use ROM Toolbox quite frequently. I have never updated my ROM through ROM Toolbox though, I just use the other features it has to offer. Before you start messing around too much take some time the read the beginners guides and learn how the Defy handles various mods. It is difficult to brick a Defy especially if you are well informed. Only tweak things in ROM Toolbox if you understand what you are doing otherwise leave it alone until you have learnt the ins and outs of your Defy. From my personal experience, ROM Toolbox has never caused me any problems...

thank you, one more thing: do i have to do anything to the boot menu or install stuff like 2ndinit?
MB525 (really laggy)
To flash a ROM from stock you need 2ndinit. If you are already on custom ROM bootmenu is already installed and set up to use
