Nice job but this doesn't belong in the Development section
So hello all I have problem with my games the new gameloft ones dosent save so i decided to reinstall cm7. Just to give it a try.
I used this while thinking i will do the same like an upgrade just with the same files. So i used the faq!
3) How to update from previous versions?
- Copy cm7.1.0-RC0-jordan-signed.zip, gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip to your SD Card
- Reboot and go to Bootmenu (wait for led turn blue then press Volume Down). Enter Recovery -> Custom Recovery
- Select "wipe cache" then go to "advanced", select "wipe dalvik cache" and "wipe battery stats"
- Go back, select "install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from sdcard", then select "cm7.1.0-RC0-jordan-signed.zip"
- Select "choose zip from sdcard", then select "gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip"
If you have problems with GPS after the update, try to delete the folder /data/location. Do it via Root Explorer, adb or terminal emulator (via terminal ignore the first and the last line):
But there is a problem.
When i enter to bootmenu i enter recovery ther is no such thing as custom recovery!!!!
there are 3 options stock latest and one more but not custom.
Please im new just got my defy on sunday and wanna reset the cm7 to see if it helps my problem.
Thanks you
Ernö
You have to enter into custom recovery, not into stock one.
CM7 includes a custom recovery + 2nd init. So, reboot your phone; wait for the led to turn blue, finally press volume down.
If you don't have any custom recovery, download defy 2nd init from market; you can also find it in this forum.
Its easy, just restart and go to that bootmenu and then to the custom recovery, wipe everything, and reboot. Remember that you will lose all your apps and data doing this
when i press volume down i get android bootmenu v0.9.1 defy
and in recovery i have these 3 options:
[Latest Recovery]
[Stable Recovery]
[Stock Recovery]
so how can i get the custom recovery? i have to use second init?
thanks!
im newbie but here is this
- Install 2ndInit Recovey Installer via File Manager, go to the app and click "Install 2ndInit Recovery" button. Wait for the led turn green.
- Disable USB Debugging
- Reboot (you will have to select Boot -> Normal in bootmenu)
- Reboot again, this time select Recovery -> [Custom Recovery]
- Select "wipe cache partition" then "wipe data/factory reset"
- Select "install zip from sdcard", "choose zip from sdcard", then select "cm7.1.0-RC0-jordan-signed.zip"
- Select "choose zip from sdcard", then select "gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip"
You can install any other patches that you have now, like Swype or GPS Fix
- Select "+++++Go Back++++++" then "reboot your system now"
so i have to boot into second init and there i can go to custom recovery right?
so i should do it as written here right?
thanks the answer.!!
Stock Recovery is stock. Latest recovery and stable recovery are both custom recoveries but the stable recovery is just that, more stable.
Just go for stable recovery.
Sorry to hijack this thread but can someone tell me how i can roll back to froyo after installing CM7?

There is certainly some difference between those two! one says to open RSD Lite and flash Nordic via stock recovery & the other one doesn't!
Which one 2 follow? & What are the difference?
Smh -.- u need to flash to nordic, root, install 2ndinit, boot into the recovery of 2ndinit, wipe and install nightly and then gapps.
Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk
It depends.
My phone was on UK vodafone 2.2.2, with the 179-4 kernel. That being the case, I did not bother flashing nordic or CEE. If you do not already have a 179-4 then you need to get one and flash it on with RSDlite before you root and install 2ndinit and cyanogen.
So, what is the current software version of your phone?
No need of flashing new sbf. Both RC1 and RC1.5 update the kernel and modules so no worries.
I will take everything from zero but I am not responsible if you brick your Defy.

How to Install a Custom ROM on Galaxy Grand:
The procedure of installing a custom ROM using ClockworkMod Recovery is almost the same for all Android phones. You just have to follow a few steps and it is done!
All custom ROMs come in zip and have md5 checksum signature that tells your device that it was downloaded successfully and does not miss anything. So download the ROM file in zip and copy it to you phone, preferably to the external SD card.
If you have downloaded an AOSP or CyanogenMod based custom ROM, you’ll also have to install the Google apps after flashing the ROM. Download the latest Google Apps zip package to install via CWM here. Copy this file to your phone too.
Now boot your phone into recovery mode. Here is the method: press and hold Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time till the Samsung logo with device name blinks for 2 times. Then release the Power key while keeping other keys pressed till you see the recovery menu with “ClockwrokMod Recovery” written on the top. In Recovery mode, use the volume keys to scroll and the power key to select options.
Important: Go to “backup and restore” option and backup your current ROM to the external SD card.
When backup is complete, go back to main menu and “wipe data/factory reset”.
Then go to “advanced” and “wipe dalvik cache”.
Go back and select “mounts and storage” and “format system”.
Return to main menu and select “install zip from sdcard> choose zip from sdcard”, navigate to the ROM zip file and select it.
When the ROM is installed, also install the Google apps zip package, if applicable, using Step 8.
Finally, return to main menu and select “reboot system now”.

I fixed the problem actually. I restored my backup and redownloaded it as you said. And voila. Also Land scape does not work properly.
