400 Euro...

Nice phones...but.....
Nice phones...
But.... there is still a problem....
Samsung is still not taking their own OS seriously due to the weak app shop.
Why not a second flagship in the S2 body with amoled plus, 8MP camera, 1080 video ?????
If sammy is affraid of a wave 3 in S2 body will affect the sales of the andro s2 it is bull^%$&.......
They have to think Google bought Motorola and in a near future Google will take over the andro os and built their own phones...They are not crazy to leave a
~%50 market to others...and with apple together they will dominate the market...
Sammy has to come together with LG, Sony, HTC and some other Asian phone makers and develop bada together.... and get ready to leave Andro slowly slowly...If sammy comes together with them they will be able to make a huge Bada app market and Bada will have a biger slice of the mobile market which will attract more developers...
Even they can change BADA name to something else..
Sammy, HTC, Sony they are big companies but, if everybody tries to make their own OS they will get lost quickly....
Future will bring very strange things.... Assians must be ready for that and make allians together...Looks like the only way to survive in the furute...
Just my humble idea....

That Is EPIC! BTW, The 5 MP camera of Samsung is equivalent or must say greater compare to the 12 MP of Nokia N8..I had a side-by-side photo comparison and the camera in Wave 1 Rocks! And as far as I know...This phone and Wave I are the signs that Bada is gonna have a great future!

uvp 400€ this means hundret to 150 less on amazon, one month after,
250 is not bad, and if the ram is a GB like on galaxy s plus than i would buy it to be one of the first.
the other hardware specks are all the same as galaxy s plus, and it is damn fast.

bada 2.0 released?

Very Much! Where on Earth were you? Released loooong back!

It looks like Wave 3 has Qualcomm CPU. Bull****

Fails to make waves in today's market
With the competition now, it isnt as desirable as the wave 1 was during the wave 1's time.
The market has changed heavily from ever since the wave 1 and galaxy s were first introduced.
We now have dualcores running at 1.4ghz, 1080p cams, hdmi output etc.
Comparing the wave 3 to them now, its not soo desirable.
Unlike the wave 1, the wave 3 just fails to make waves in today's market.
Truth is i have little reason to upgrade to the wave 3.
I d rather go even for an lg optimus 2x than the wave 3 now.
It just doesnt fill me with passion or fire.

i say it so, the market has changed, but not everyone has so lot money around 500€ in mid for a new device^^ why every device should be so expensive that only rich can buy it? i see the way is good, bada or everyone, is the idea and i like it.
Sure it is bad no the best hardware, but it is not far away of the best.

Here is a quick video showing Bada 2.0 with Samsung Wave 3
http://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...0;end=6:46;autoreplay=false;showoptions=false
Here is also the introduction video of Bada 2.0 and Samsung Wave 3 in English
http://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...0;end=4:44;autoreplay=false;showoptions=false

quite frankly ... i would not trade my wave 8500 for this one
just for a faster processor and a bigger screen (everything else seems to be the same or almost the same) ? no way
i bet the battery on this one wont last as long
and the wave 1 size is just perfect for me.. no less no more.. just perfect

http://armdevices.net/2011/09/01/samsung-wave-3-bada-2-0-4-super-amoled-plus/
Seems XXKHB Firmware...
Maybe we got such Version for S8500/S8530 to compare.
Best Regards

I will buy this phone but I will wait sometime to the price drop a bit...first I'll update my W2 to BADA 2 and play with it....
As I say in my first comment BADA is very important to Sammy....
Google didn't pay the 12 Billion dollars to Motorola and the 26000 or whatever it is licences, just because they like and want to support the Android phone manufacturers..For Google its a ready market and billions of ready dollars...when they begin to produce huge amounts of phones by Motorola, all, will see the how market will shake...
Google will go slowly till there is a same Android version for phones and tablets and then the bomb will explode...
Korean government already talked with Sammy and LG to develop a OS and government want's to support them...

Maybe but if it has Snapdragon MSM8255, there is adreno 205 right? PoweVR SGX540 is much better. At least in future there must be 2 versions of games (1 for adreno and 1 for PowerVR) like on android.

well for me te Wave 3 is a bad Joke...I hope it's thin like the S2 and not big like an dictionary like theWave 2 which was a Joke too imo...
I'll bet the camera is exacly the same. Not even better 5 MP camera...
Samsung and bada are becoming more unattractive to me...And the bada 2 release is too early for me that i can still believe that the alpha is a fully awesome working Final...
But it's pretty awesome for businessguys i guess... no fancy things just what you need....in that case pretty nice...hope that bada 2 works awesome and youre good...
But compared to the first Wave i whish i'd waited till the wave three...I now prefer a bigger screen...

Galaxy S II with WP7 ahhh

Granted I haven't had my hand on the new Samsung Galaxy SII but looking at (I hate to say engadget review on the hardware) I think this would be an ultimate flagship design for wp7 (I know the processor hasn't been approved) but man that device looks nice and I have been very happy with my focus for a while now I am wanting this bad boy (am I bad I have had an HTC for the last 6yrs).
Mental diarrhea sprayed onto an XDA post. Nice work!
dreaming is not diarrhea lol
The Os performs great with the current standards if they are going to make a tiered version (which they will if Nokia intends on making a low cost wp7) why not make a high dollar one?
Yes its android its gud
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Actually, watching the video on Engadget, it still lags (Android I mean)...
Yes, GS2 with WP7 FTW!
I think GS2 is currently the ultimate phone.

Yeah, the specs are nice...but it's ugly, as was the Galaxy S
Why can't the do a design like the Galaxy S had in the Gorgio Armani edition? Or something like the SE X10?
The Omnia7 is the only Samsung high-end phone that looks good (could be better but at least it has edges and isn't rounded everywhere).

I think he means in normal operations the lag is there. Which it is, let's be real. Android lags, till google changes their h/w graphics acceleration, that won't be changing
That said, I was thinking that wp7 may need a few flagship dual cores just to make itself viable for users. Many will say look at android - dual core. Look at apple iphone - dual core [soon] and wp7 no...
I think by January there needs to be dual core optimized code and ASAP. As far as the G II, the screen looks amazing. Samoled has spoiled me in the focus and the (god awful) dvp. So I may consider that as an option especially if there are devs for samsung platform.

What I was saying/hinting in order to make a statement (which don't get me wrong everyone including my girl that I have let play with my wp7 want one and thats coming from iphone/android). But at the gym last night there was a guy with a attrix with a wp7 skin and I slapped him (silly foul for fun) because he was false claiming lol (forgive me its Friday). But really they need a wow factor phone because basically alot of people just buy for specs I hate to say (like people @ the gym I workout at) all they talk about is my phone has a 5-8mp camera and a dual processor blah blah, and I just said my phone works and quite well.

ahhhhh, ok i see it! I wonder if that is a beta hardware, or what version software its running. oddly, I haven't used a ota update or stock rom since the 1.x days. lag is something I just haven't experienced since then... and it puzzles me when I see so many commnets about it really.,
Lag has been the signature of Samsung Galaxy S. It remains to be seen that if S2 can improve on that. The reasons are two folds:
1. The Android OS's own problem (lack of hardware accel and poor garbage collection)
2. Samsung's insistence of using its antiquated RFS file system which is significantly worse than the common ext2 or 4 file system.
And there is really on dual-core support in Android OS in the immediate future. The Dalvik VM used in Android is single core only. Currently only the tablet OS, Honeycomb, supports dual-core.
In the end, what a waste of that beautiful hardware!
Nice work。。。。
Would love this with WP7.
You guys should read the review. No lag, only sign of it is when doing a expose with fully loaded home screens. Even then it was barely noticeable.

we did hence the discussion about the LAG. Look I like the specs myself because they would make any developer salivate and want to at least test it for a spell - myself included. But even still, lag is lag and it's there.
We can call out all of wp inconsistencies till the cow comes home but do it to android its a fight. It's a pretty rational discussion about the SII and there have been no flames. Us, just like you, have watched the video and read the reviews. Let's not assume no one hasn't

Picking your next Windows Phone... What is your priority feature?

Thought this might be interesting if I go by things I read on different threads.
This won't be the case but let's assume you can get any phone on any carrier and price isn't an issue.
How would you pick your next phone?
I allowed for multiple choice but try not to vote for 6 out of 8 or this won't teach us anything specific. And if you picked "Other", what did you have in mind?
Other: gyroscope support and > 1 GHz processor
My most important features: Screen size (less than 4"), Camera (high quality with dual led), and something not there build quality.
I am pretty much all in for the Nokia 800. Second choice is the Samsung Omnia W.
For me there has to be a hardware keyboard - I just hate capacitive touch keyboards.
Price, can't be more than $100 with no contract. And of course, significantly better than my LG Quantum, otherwise I have no reason to upgrade.
I LOVE massive phones, I went from my HD2, to an HD7, and if God would answer my prayers, the Titan would come to T-Mobile, though, soon enough it won't matter as I'm hoping we become AT&T. So, I voted for FFC since it's already a given to me that I'm going for a big phone. Screen type would probably be a close second for me, as I like the HD7 screen, but really wish it were a higher quality, but hey, I'm asking to be spoiled now, right?
It's odd to see one user out of two ready to buy a phone on its brand alone
I personally go for what I find better overall regardless of the OEM.

I personally love HTC, I know I'm probably in the current minority, for some odd reason as they're the only phones to consistently update without an issue, but Nokia is also winning over my heart.
I really want my Mozart to be my last HTC ever. But it's been my desire to abandon them since like 2005, and I still was forced to buy their stuff because others were mostly even worse.
In your list, it goes like this: screen less than 4", 16GB minimum (64 preferred), usable camera, 1500+ mAH battery. No pentile crap. Looks are also kind of important, but I can live with something less than stellar.
The leaks and announcements really make me sad, I don't see anything really attractive. SeaRay is almost there but it looks like it'll come with PenTile, so it's most probably a no go...
I'm with FiyaFleye, I like HTC and and have seen problems that would affect with other OEMS that I don't have with my Fuze. Nokia I have no idea on that but haven't had one in 4 yrs and it was a dumbphone. However not willing to wait another 3 months+ for them either. I would like a hardware keyboard with a smaller screen would be first choice, or go with a big screen so I can type well. Extra nick nacks are always a plus if they are usable, and 1 gig > processor for some future app usage is good too.
This list would have been so much easier in Aug before they started announcing phones, I'm just waiting for mine to come to the USA.
I'd love to get my hands on a Nokia WP7 phone, but that could take a while and the HTC Titan is kinda expensive over here.
I'll prolly just get a Samsung Omnia W if I get too impatient, really wanna see what the better CPU/GPU can do for my emulator.
Also I'd really like to see some 32GB storage phones, 8GB is just killing me on my Trophy.
1. Storage, it must be at least 32gb
2. Nokia
I will only consider getting a phone that isn't a nokia if the storage space is 32gb or above (and nokia only offer 16gb variants).
If storage space doesn't improve by the end of the year I will probably jump ship to android, even though I prefer Windows Phone my music collection is a must for me.
I'm hoping *fingers crossed* that the Nokia 800 will come in 16gb and 64gb variants like the N9 and thus will be my next phone (in blue )
Manufacturer is gonna come into play for my next WP7. IE i'm not having another Samsung phone.
I went with screen size. 3.5" ish would be good. Also, want good battery life. At least a 1500mah battery.
Funny how so few people picked FF Camera when it's supposed to be an epic fail not to have it since Apple "invented" video chat
I would have bought that Samsung Omnia 7 W like today if it came with 16 GB...
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
1. Storage...at least 32 GB
3. Camera quality
3. Screen quality
I don't know any one that actually uses the FFC...nothing but a gimmick.
I´m asking myself if I need a new WP in general...
My OMNIA 7 has all features I use daily (less DLNA and skype support).
So today I took a look at the new HTC devices:
1. HTC Omega is too small.
2. HTC Titan is too big for my taste.
The display is much better than the HD7 display but not even better than the OMNIA 7 display. Also the general quality of the phone is very good: less plastic parts and good working hardware buttons (compared with the HD7).
Do I need a HTC Titan 4.7" notebook in my pocket ? I don´t think so.
The upcoming OMNIA W will only have 8 GB, maybe 16GB... is this what I need ? I don´t think so either.
A general question is: Do I really need a FF cam ? How many videocalls I made in the past ? I only made normal voip calls...
I would say the only hope is that the NOKIA Empire strikes back... and I don´t think that the new devices will have more than 16 GB.
I hope that I´m wrong, but I think it´s better to wait 3 or 4 month before buying a new WP.
Regards

I never thought I'd say this, but camera is my #1. Since everyone seems to be pinching pennies these days and both of my old 5MP point-and-shoots are just crappy, my phone has become my #1 camera for both stills and video. I remember when cameras first came out on cell phones and I was thinking, "why?" All that, and baby is now 12 weeks old, so I'm taking pictures like crazy!
Screen size is a close second. I doubt I could ever go smaller than my 4" Focus screen at this point.

Next generation CPU and GPU is here (snapdragon S4) and behinde the corner (exynos 5)

Doesn't it bother you? I really want the Note 2, but to think devices are shipped now with SnapDragon S4 Pro, 4 cores A15, 28NM with Adreno 320, and soon Exynox 5 Dual, also A15, 32NM and Mali-T604 really bother me. This is why I've waited for HTC's phablet, but it wasn't released yesterday
What do you think? I know the Note 2 has great performance, but soon others will have better technology... And I'm going to buy mine (if I'll buy) on December - right before CES 2013!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mali_(GPU)
i'm going back and forth between getting the note 2 and waiting a phone with the exynos 5250/new mali gpu.
I feel like my galaxy nexus is already as fast as it can possibly get, and I'm sure the note 2 is even faster. I don't think I will need the newer tech at least for my use I won't
Sent from my Verizon Nexus
There will always be something better,in some way, than whatever you have/buy.
The note 2 is still overall the best device for me so I'm getting it.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA Premium HD app
you will keep waiting that way. once the exynos 5 dualcore is there you will be waiting for the quadcore version. something better is always around the corner. you say you will buy a new phone in december, so just come back in december, choose the phone that is best for you at that moment, and buy it.

In the tech world, there's always going to be the next big thing. How long should one wait is a matter of personal preference. For me, I get excited by new technology, but I always shop behind the curve, to get the best possible deal.
Here, in the US, the carriers make us sign contracts in return for subsidized pricing. So a $600-$800 phone is sold to us for $200-$300. After a few months, price drops of $50-$100 are very common. That is the time when I buy.
My first smartphone (EVO 4G) was released in April 2010 for $200. I purchased mine in Dec. 2010 for $100. Was the phone old? Sure, but did I care? No. It worked just fine, and a year later (Nov. 2011) I scored a Photon (released in April 2011) on Cragslist.
I am hoping the Note II gets released soon (October) so I can buy it in Dec./Jan. It is rumored to be around $250-$300 and by waiting a few months I can hopefully save a few $$.
It will still work and be more powerful than most devices on the market. Even if HTC, LG and others come out with a super-phone with the QC S4, it doesn't render the Note II obsolete.
So what if the HTC Quad can beat the Note II by a few points in some benchmark.
The Note has far more compelling features for me. As long as it can do the work, I don't care how fast or slow my device is. And with that 3000 maH battery, I don't foresee a problem in device usage time either.
If youre gonna have the phone a long time, 2 year + then i think you should wait and buy the top of the line.
If you change phone every year or more dont worry.. Just buy a new when a killerphone arrive
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
The Note II will be a powerhouse for years, and by they time it isn't you'll already have moved on to something else.
you are all right about there will always be a newer technology around the corner, but the snapdragon S4 Pro is already here!!
i don't care about the benchmarks, i only want games to work smooth. on my Desire HD games get stuck and lag, so i want top line phone, so i could keep it for about 2 years.
sadly, im not old enough to decide by my self to sell and by a new phone, if i was, every year i would sell my current phone (in israel) and by a new one at the USA. this way i save a lot of money
the problem with the Mali-400MP is that its old... it is the GPU on the S2!!! i dont want to buy technology from more than a year ago!
GPUs and CPUs have already progressed to the point where the law of diminishing returns is starting to take effect in the realm of mobile phones. You can only push so many pixels onto a handheld screen before our eyes can't tell the difference, and the Android OS currently only needs a certain amount of gflops to do what it needs to do smoothly. I don't play PC-level demanding games on my phone, otherwise I would think differently - but right now, I'm mostly just concerned about browser preformance and the OS running without lag even with all of the widgets and programs that I need running in the background. I think the Galaxy Note II should be able to accomplish that easily. I, too, would like to see a GPU better than the Mali-400MP in the SGN2, but as long as it can handle android games and render webpages quickly, then I don't think it should be a big factor in your decision.
I think improvements in battery life, RAM, and screen are mainly what I'm looking for in this generation of phones. For the Galaxy Note II, the first two were substantially improved so I'm fairly content with that. I just don't see any better alternatives out there. A possible alternative would be the HTC 5" phone which is going to be announced soon, but I don't know all of the details on that yet. I'm not expecting much out of that phone though because, while HTC has good build quality and specs, they have been going down the path of sacrificing battery life, locking bootloaders, no SD-card, no removable battery, etc... The Galaxy Note II doesn't have these problems, and the one shortcoming (it doesn't have a Exynos 5 Dual with a Mali-T604) isn't really that big of a deal to me.
TL;DR: The SGN2 is probably the best phone you can get in the near future if you don't play extremely graphically-intensive games on your phone.
I don't play a lot of heavy games as Modern Combat 3, Asphalt 6 etc. but, when I play these games I want them to work smooth! And I'm not sure the Mali-400MP could do it in a year from now.
The new Mali-T604 will have OpenGL ES 3.0 support (Mali-400MP only supports up to 2.0). Does anyone how much this will affect performance for later releases? I would imagine that the SGN2 would still be able to play 99% of games released within the 2 years with a decent frame rate.
I don't really like playing games on my phone because the interface is holding it back in my opinion. Well, at least for FPS and anything that requires precision and more than 2 buttons.
Well my adreno 205 rage.
I can play with adreno 205 all 2012 games..

Who knows what we are doing a year from now.
Faster CPUs don't mean that much right now in some ways, because Android doesn't probably take advantage of multithreading.
It's quite possible that a year from now, threading is improved, and we see a serious performance increase with the same hardware.

specifically this quote:
The biggest improvement, though, is the phone’s performance. It absolutely flies, and it’s incredibly smooth. Whether that’s due to the 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos processor or simply the addition of Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) we don’t know, but I tried hard to make it stutter and lag, and I couldn’t.

This comes from a guy who said the Note was 'very not good', partially due to its lag.
You can be sure he went into the Note 2 determined to prove he's still right and the Note concept still sucks.
The fact that he failed is pretty encouraging.

You can be sure he went into the Note 2 determined to prove he's still right and the Note concept still sucks.
The fact that he failed is pretty encouraging.

I know its great, and the CPU is awesome, no complains. My problem is the GPU, its.......old!
But everything always gonna look old to you unless you are Apple fanboy/girl. I don't mean that negatively, but let's face it. By the time SoC manufacturor announce new chip, a phone manufacturor have to wait a few months to get their hand on the chip, then a few months later, engineering unit is out. By the time the production unit hit the shelf then that is like half a year already, by then another SoC company gonna announce something new. If all the SoC and phone manufacturors act like Apple and keep everything secret then may be you won't feel that way but that's simply because you are kept in the dark.

I know, but the Mali-400MP was shipped with the Galaxy S2! This is very old in "smartphones years".
Man you talk about the mali400 being old like it experienced the great depression. How depressing. It is still a nice and widely supported gpu. The adreno320 is prbably better but doesnt get as much support which would be a bummer for the gamers. If you really want to wait for the t604 find somewhere else to talk and whine about that. The mali is coming whether you like it or not and i am quite sure many are happy with the decision.

It it concerns you that much, I don't know what to tell you. Just don't get the Note I guess.
I don't think anyone can prove/disprove theories on how the Note 2 will be in the future.

Not(What!!!) a Joke...Bada OS ranked 4th in worldwide mobile device sell Q3-2012

yes guys...this is not a joke..
As per Gartner's latest report,Bada is ranked 4th in worldwide mobile device sell Q3-2012.

It's bit funny...:silly:
LOOOL
lmao
The biggest deal breaker for me in the lack of whatsapp, I find myself using my old and ****ty Samsung Galaxy Spica way more than my Wave because of this (And other features like better file explorers, office, better video players...) Damn I really wish they could get the cellular modem wroking on Android, that would make me really happy, I know it won't happen though, I'm stuck with using my Spica for most stuff.

Sorry guys...
But these statistics are nothing new...
It'S been released just at November 14th...
We also reported about it here (German)...
Let's see, what brings the statistics for Q4/2012...
Bada OS ranked 5th in worldwide mobile device sell Q4-2012
Link: http://www.gartner.com/newsroom/id/2335616
Ist incredible score i dont understand why samsung stop dev Bada !!!
Its really surprising that Dead OS like Bada can sell 2,684 thousands of unit...and Microsoft and Nokia is pushing Windows 8 like hell still they sold only 6,185 thousands of unit..which is good improvement but not wrt promotion.
I think, sammy missed trick here...they should have tried to push bada for another year or so...as tizen launch is still no where near...
Combining the stats results in over 7.5 million units sold in Q3 and Q4 of 2012... Two questions immediately arise:
1) What were these people thinking? We've been having troubles with this OS for over 3 years now. No proper service, no useful apps (well, I can count them on my two hands) and the OS, in some parts of the world, hasn't seen an update at all.
2) Where are people buying these units? I haven't seen them around for over 2 years. Nobody else I know has one. Mostly because I warned them not to buy it, but still...
Since Samsung is shutting Bada down, the least they can do is release the source code, such that the developers here can help us, the millions of Bada users, with a fully functioning Android port.

yea they should release the fking source code the phone is really old now...
but still if everything will work our waves will be beasts. I have got an S3 and Wave. if i compare them for me is my wave alot faster and smoother ( games are running very good but on s3 better cuz of quadcore etc.)only its missing on speed and RAM. if android will work complete i will sell my S3 and stick with my Wave for some couple of years.

I too think our phones are great. That's the reason I'm still sticking with it, even after almost 3 years. I don't need a fancy 5", quad core, IPS, blabla phone, that will set me back 600 dollars/euro. I've heard of a movement that wants to 'trash' Samsung's S4 release tomorrow. Hopefully with the result that Samsung will rethink their position on not updating Wave phones with the new Tizen OS. And after reading that they sold over 7.5 million units in the last 6 months, they hopefully reconsider. For me, releasing the source code is a better solution. Then the devs here can do what they have been dreaming about for a long long time: get the modem working on the android port
I for example know 5 people having waves

[Q] Is this a worthy upgrade?

Hey everyone,
After three years using the legendary Xperia X10, it's finally given out on me and died. Is this a good upgrade over that? Where I live, it is possible to get the LG G2 and the HTC One M7 for around the same price, but I have my reservations about buying them because they're old models.
Should I get this phone, or go for something else?

N3 Neo is definitely a big upgrade over Xperia X10 in all respects!
Now coming to ur point regarding the other two phones u mentioned.. I think among the 3 u should choose between N3 Neo & G2, now it depends on ur preferences which phone u do choose, both phones have their own advantages-
G2 over Neo:
- 1080p screen
- More powerful GPU if ure a hardcore gamer
- Handy size
- IPS display
- Great dev support
Neo over G2:
- Bigger screen if u like the extra real estate
- Note features & S-Pen
- No overheating issues
- Samsung has much better service support
- Better battery life
- Super Amoled screen
- Expandable storage & removable battery
Ure from Trivandrum so I don't think both the phones have nearly the same cost.. in fact G2 is much costlier!
Flipkart prices - 27.5K for Note 3 Neo & G2 (32gb) for 36K
buy wisely!
I never like phone with sealed battery (Though I am having iPhone, which was a wish to have always).

Thanks man. Actually, the prices of both phones are nearly the same, if you know dealers. The main problem with the Note 3 Neo seems to be the lack of developer support. Coming from the X10 (which had a HUGE developer base), the support on this forum seems to be lacking.
Is there a 4.4 update for the Neo?

Yeah.. local dealers may give u better deals.
If ure a flashaholic then this phone is not for u (atleast for now).
I used to be a flashaholic having the S2 which still has excellent dev support, but since I've bought this phone, my desire to root & modify have vanished.. the phone has exceptional battery life, smooth performance & a lot of neat features which I love. I don't plan to use aosp & cm roms cos this phone is a note & the S-Pen defines it!
Nowadays we get most of the new cool features through Xposed so no point about stock based custom roms.. but yeah it's about personal preference!
The KitKat update is due and we have still not recd it (u know sammy is slow with updates).. we'll get it shortly I guess..

Kitkat update is only avaialbe for korean variant of Note 3 neo at the moment . Rest should be updated I think .
If dev support is what you're looking for , DO NOT buy an exynos phone and esp. this one as it's not quite popular like the rest

What do you mean by this Xposed? What is it exactly? And as for flashing and developer support, I'm not too keen on those. The only reason I turned to the forums was because my old X10 had started to lag. I suppose the only reason I'll need to root this phone would be to remove some of the trashy apps made by Samsung that nobody uses, like S Voice and the like.

Yes I know, the amount of bloat Samsung dumps into the phone is painful, but u can disable most of it & completely remove it after rooting so that's the good part.
okay, now about Xposed, search for "Xposed framework" on google & visit addictivetips site which explains everything about Xposed. It's one of the greatest android root apps.

Regarding the S Pen and it's uses, does this have all the functionality of the bigger Note 3, or have they been stripped down somewhat as well?

you get all the S-Pen features of the bigger brother in the neo, the features that have been stripped down are display (720p), RAM (2gb), processor (well, can't really call it less powerful), some other small things are display profiles, air gestures, camera but nothing as such which is a deal breaker. If u want the full Note 3 software suite experience at a much cheaper price, this phone is the one for u!

Yeah, I know the specs of the model . I wouldn't call the 720p display a letdown. Let's face it, in India, using a 1080p screen is quite hard, especially if you're unemployed and a student. And with this year's iteration of the Note, it'll be even more difficult to use it. Who the hell watches 2K videos anyway? Not to mention, unless the GPU in the next Note is the Adreno 420, it'll be underpowered like the G3. Seriously, manufacturers have gone completely retarded this year.

That's so true.. TBH I find the display really good (better than S4 in terms of colour reproduction), my previous daily driver was the GS2 which has a 217 ppi screen, so 267 ppi is a major jump!
I don't believe in the crazy spec jump we have with every iteration. I found FHD itself to be a stretch, but 2K is as of now useless.
I'm really happy with my phone, always had a dream to own a Note series device (they were always out of budget, I too am a student).. just a rare stutter is visible but the features completely outweighs that rare moment.

Even worse is the fact that the manufacturers apparently think that the S400 with cortex A7 cores is somehow better than the dual core Krait or the dual core A15 configuration. It's a big step back in terms of raw processing power. That's the only reason why I thought of this device. All the others have stupid S400 cores, including the HTC One mini 2 and the Galaxy S5 Mini (which are likely to priced above this one).
As for the display, my older phone was the X10, which had around 240ppi. I'm sure the 720p display will be a big boost

The hexa core configuration in this phone is excellent, no overheating (which is common with other exynos phones) and consistent performance. Seriously, I still don't know why the manufacturers don't use Cortex A15 dual cores, they are quite powerful. The minis nowadays are plain stupid, half the customers don't even know how they are being fooled, they just see the "Quad core" monicker and blindly buy much costlier phones. Just look at that phone G Pro lite, I mean seriously, 25K for that thing? ?
720p is fine, text too is quite sharp.
