So I recently tried to root my phone but failed and had to factory reset. Afterwards, the phone kept saying no service on bootup. Then after 15 minutes, it connects with Telus and I have service again, but seriously..15 minutes?
I found out it's because the sim card locks up everytime the phone restarts. I could easily unlock it by going to settings > location > change sim state, but it says I have "0 attempts remaining" so im pretty screwed over.
As far as I know, it should at least prompt you for the pin during startup, but I don't get that either.
it's not a big deal cause I never shut my phone off but its only a week old so yeah, don't want a buggy device

i have a brand new phone and setting up tethering puts the phone into a bootloop. I have tried this 3 times and it's same result. Each time, i have had to go into recovery and reformatted it.
All i do is change the SSID name and a password, a few seconds later and it reboots
The phone has a serial number starting with 511... (Manufactured November 2015)
Anyone with a similar phone want to test it out as it's basic function.
Phone is running masrsmellow
Hello,
Currently i am running the latest version of CM13 (cm-13.0-20160307-UNOFFICIAL-Z00A.zip ) on my phone, but this issue also occured with the other versions starting from the 1st of march.
With 2 sims inserted in my phone, both of these sim cards work fine when i put them separately in the phone, however when i put them both in some weird issues occur.
The problems start when booting my phone, the phone asks me to enter the PIN for sim 1, which works and connects the card to the network ( and fetches my latest messages and such )
Then the phone obviously asks me for the PIN of my second sim, which it accepts. However after accepting my SIM the same popup comes up asking me for my PIN for sim2 again.
And when entering the PIN it gives me the error : "SIM PIN operation failed".
After multiple attempts, it finally gets me in the phone. However the data on SIM1 is not functioning anymore.
What i've tried is:
Multiple different CM releases from the past week
Putting my phone in airplane mode and out again
Factory reset the phone
Does anyone know how to fix this issue?
I got an unlock code from AT&T for my Active. The instruction they send me is this:
1. Power off the device and remove the SIM card.
2. Power on the device.
3. Enter #0111*, the unlock code, and #. The device cycles off and back on.
However after step 3, nothing happens. I tried a couple times, press the dial button, nothing happened.
Can anyone help? Thanks
Put your AT&T SIM card back in the device, power it on, then make sure it's working with AT&T - this is assuming you have AT&T service, I hope, 'cause if not you could be somewhat stuck here.
Having said that, the process is fairly simple:
- power down the device with the AT&T SIM card inside it (as noted above, if this can't be done then again you could be stuck)
- take the AT&T SIM card out, put in a SIM card from whatever provider you're attempting to use the device with
- power on the device
- after the boot process is finished you should encounter this screen or something similar:
With a non-AT&T SIM card in the locked device that screen should appear every time you boot the device until you actually get it unlocked, if you're not seeing that screen then something odd is happening.
- if you do see that screen enter the code and BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO MAKE ANY MISTAKES WHATSOEVER because you can only enter a code incorrectly a certain number of times after which the device will never be unlockable so, make sure you're accurate.
My Active is still network locked and I just put a T-Mobile nanoSIM in it, rebooted and voila, I get that screen. If you're not getting it then something is not right someplace, you might need to go to an actual AT&T store and see about having them assist you.
So... I stared into the abyss, but I came back from the brink - unlocked bootloader, and the modem/calibration stuff got wiped during what should have been a routine TWRP flash from fastboot, and left me with no radios whatsoever. After flashing S048, and applying all the known OTAs up till S251, I got my wifi & bluetooth radios back, but it didn't seem to recognise my SIM (tried both slots).
After trying for almost a week, I also finally got the diagnostics mode going and was able to put a working QCN backup in place (thank you XDA and uploader).
So I flashed the LineageOS 15.1 20180413, and lo and behold, it sees the SIM and asks for a PIN to unlock it. So far, so good. Then (first time) Android says 'switching to mobile data, might take a while' but nothing really happens (I am on wireless; if I turn off wifi that doesn't make any difference though).
Under 'Network', 'Automatically select network' is enabled but 'Network' (right below) is greyed out. When I untick 'Automatically select network', it says 'Error while searching for networks'. When I re-tick it again, it says 'Registered on network', although nothing really happens.
Under SIM cards, it says slot 1 is populated, but says 'Mobile Vikings is disabled' (Mobile Vikings being my provider). The button to enable it is greyed out. Switching to airplane mode doesn't force anything either.
I've had a logcat instance open when toggling 'Automatically select network', but nothing related seems to show up. Any hints on what I could try/check? Or is this a coaster?
I believe that once you erase the modem stuff you'll always have serious problems restoring it. It seems like most people have to send the device in for service.
I've still no solution for an old P2 of mine and in that case I even had a TWRP backup.
Lenovo should really allow for us to flash stock images . An unlocked bootloader with LESS privileges makes no sense.
Wipe everything in twrp & flash twrp full backup which included efs & modem shared on our p2 forum. then flash Fastboot s48 only systemchuncks 0-14, boot & recovery then do 4-5 OTAs updates till latest one s251, you'll get you mobile network & calls back.
@eried1 Yeah looks like it
@amansehdav I have turned the P2 subforum upside down and I already tried this - restore a working S233 TWRP backup, flash S048 through fastboot, and upgrade with the OTAs till S251. No dice. Wifi and Bluetooth came back with that process, but the stock firmware would not see the SIM.

Hello so to start off I want to say this is entirely my fault for not backing up my phone before installing this beta.
Story:
So today I tried to create a secure folder and while it was creating the secure folder my phone shut down after rebooting I cannot get into my phone every time I enter the password it just freezes and reboots. I can see my data is still all there because I am still receiving app notifications. How would I go about fixing this as I cannot factory wipe the phone because of fear of loosing my accounts tied to 2fa.
What I have tried so far:
- Using Samsung's find my phone feature to remove the screen lock (The phone randomly reboots multiple times and the screen lock is not removed.)
- Wiping system cache
- ADB does not detect the device as it is locked so there is not much I can do with that.
Other notes:
I have used oden in the past but I cannot find the right software for my model to attempt to re flash. (SM-S908U1 Unlocked)
