If you don't have adb, take the bootanimation.zip and using es file manager, root explorer, ect, move the .zip to the folder: /system/media . As for the splash you need to simply rename that zip file to PC36IMG, place on the root of your sd card, boot into the bootloader, accept the terms, then reboot.
It says can not complete copy.

You have to make sure you have r/w enabled for both root explorer or es file manager.
In root explorer, the button is at the top, in es file manager, go to settings, then scroll down.
Still no go. After reboot

Verified that you have s-off, and the bootanimation.zip is good?
Yes on s-off. How do I verify zip

Well you could use an md5 checker...but more importantly, the zip was from a reputable place, and its known to work, by other people downloading it.
Ya from xda forum

Is the file named bootanimation.zip , just like that?
Make sure its named bootanimation.zip, also if using root explorer to copy paste after you pasted it on system/media, go ahead and long press it and select permissions, give it full permissions just to make sure

What are you trying to do?
Using root explorer you can copy the apk to the system folder if necessary.

With a system level file manager like Root Explorer or ES Explorer with root explore enabled, copy the camera's apk to the system/app folder and then enable the permissions and reboot or hot restart your device. That *should* work for you, however, if you are trying to install it on an AOSP rom, i highly doubt it will work for you.

So I am trying to copy past browser from frozen rom to urban metamorpisis how ever my computer won't let me does anone have any ideas on how to do this

If you have root you could copy it to your SD card with Root Explorer from the Market. Titanium Backup would let you back it up and restore the backup on another ROM.
Needs to be pushed to system\app with root explorer. Then reboot.

I tried that won't let me push it there for some odd reason

Did you hit the mount r/w button in the upper left hand corner of root explorer?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Yes I did I get to the app folder in system/app and then I clicked paste then I look to the folder and it didn't get placed

Try deleting or renaming the old file first then copy and paste the new one. Are you using Root Explorer?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Yes I am using root explorer I got it placed in current running rom in system/app and then re boot and look in app section and browser still not there try installing apk direct says app not installed

How do I install a custom boot animation? I have already downloaded it to my sd card and then moved it to data/local. The file is in the form of bootanimation.zip Do i need to name the file something else for this particular rom?
I would go ask the dev first.
Sent from my PC36100 using xda premium
Depends in the rom, some bootanimations are in data/local and some are in ststem/customize/resuorce. Some are named bootanimation.zip and some are named hTC_bootanimation.zip. it has to be named exactly right and put in ecxactly the right folder to work.

Use search. There are couple ones in this section.

I did search and found several. But none work on my phone. I'm assuming its because I'm not rooted. Thanks for posting that link but it says there's a problem parsing package.

Hi,
Yes you need root, system applications don't install like other applications, they must be "push" directly in system/app folder and have the correct permissions...
Sweet. Didn't know we could install this! Can I just use root explorer to drag it there and install from system/app? Then do I remove the original messaging apk or does it just update over it? Thank you

Hi,
Yes you can use Root Explorer and yes just drag and drop in system/app and don't forget to set the correct permissions like the others apps in system/app...
For security rename your old Mms.apk (like Mms.apk.old or .bak) and keep it or move it in your sdcard,if something is wrong with your new app,delete-it and rename correctly your previous app.
Eventually reboot after and you're good...
Thanks it's beautiful. Now I rebooted but couldn't find any way to fix permissions. Do you mean in clockwork recovery? I'm using es file explorer. Thanks for your help
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Re,
Yes you can set the permissions in recovery in advanced settings if I remember right.
I don't use ES File Explorer but Root Explorer but I think in ES you can change the permissions,no?Like Root Explorer:long press on the app?
At worst you do it in recovery...
EDIT:I just watched ES File Explorer on the Play Store and yes you can change the permissions (it's in the description) so it's like you want...Try in recovery it may avoid errors.
Thanks.... Really didn't wanna root this one

I am trying to change my boot animation in /System/Media but when using root explorer with SU permissions, I get an error message saying it can't delete the file. (I do mount as RW). I'm not quite sure what to do. I am on the Mijjz Blend ICS Rom, and am using the FF18 Kernel.
Press it again then try

I've tried mounting and unmounting, trying to delete multiple times, etc... Also re-starting. Nothing has worked.
Try renaming then deleting. if all you are trying to do is install a new bootanimation, then just rename the old to something else, and copy the new one into system/media and rename it bootanimation.zip all lowercase
