I miss the setting toggles in the notification bar, and the dark theme from the Skyraider ROM, otherwise I'm happy with this Gingerbread OTA leak. Other than Widgetsoid, I haven't heard of many options to get what I miss from Skyraider or any other Sense 3.0, 2.0, or 2.1 ROM's (I love Nil's too). Any of you out there more knowledgeable than me? I don't want to lose the battery efficiency and speed of this current ROM for just a usability perk. Not a very good tradeoff IMO.

Give that a shot. I know a lot of people are using it with the leak to replace the toggles.
I like it. Widgetsoid is not as versatile, but they both seem to be a little slow to take effect sometime.

The screen brightness is hit and miss but everything else seems to work great. Thanks a lot.

Is there a flash over for stock 2.2 that will give you the look of gingerbread.. as in all the icons up top looking like you are running gingerbread? Hope this makes sense

check this out

and then go down to "Optional Downloads:" and you will see about 4 different gingerbread styles for what you're looking for (at least i think its what you're looking for) lol hope this helps. and yes they do work with a stock ROM i have tried them, there is one though for the weather/ notifications bar that is terrible so read what ones are what.
Thank you very much. This is what I am looking for

That would be my ideal rom as well
All of thee above with screen on/ off animations, O/C built in like unities, customizable/switchable/flashable status bar and batter mods(lose the cross hairs, choose battery show/not, battery percentage instead of battery symbol option, choose between signal bars or dB displayed, hide/show clock with color options), customizable lock screen, and MOST IMPORTANTLY- stable. Working gps with no reverse in compass, working wifi, 3g, phone, et al.
I'll let you know if I can think of anything else, but this would be a SupeRom!

absolutely!! There is no question that Sense adds so much usefulness and streamlining to Android. It is hands down the best dialer. I love 3.0 and i love sense.com
but most importantly what i look for out of custom ROMs is reliability. It seems that every rom i have ever used other than CM7 has problems that i cannot afford to play with. i use my phone to damn much to deal with no GPS, call drops, camera problems, force closes, etc.
sense 3.0 with the features/settings of CM. Not necessarily all of them but the cool/useful ones anyways haha. Overclocking for sure, in-settings system app removal is always good. I really like the notification bar power widget and volume rocker music controls. I'v been using the status bar brightness slider alot but that one's not too big of a deal haha.
I just came across this on twiiter about android 4.2 kind of seem real to be honest

Seems awkward.
Especially for one handed usage.

Yeah I have a feeling that will get reworked.
Double pull down sounds like cluttering to me, I hope not.
Seems ok. I would think of an alternative method to access those controls though. They are kind of hidden away to be fair. Maybe implement tabs such as in Sense or Miui.
cool i like it

Double pull-down for settings make total sense to me. One thing I don't like about the SIII and TouchWiz is with the quick settings and everything at the top there is less room for notifications (as the article points out). It also looks cluttered and it seems like there is way too much going on on the pull down menu. Plus I don't change my settings that often but when I do it's somewhat awkward to pull down the notification bar and then click the little settings icon. It would be easier to swipe down once for notifications and then swipe down a second time for settings. Or, what they could do is have two finger swipe down go directly to quick settings.
This is from a sense 1.0 rom. Obviously custom but works similar to the 4.2 2 panel set up.
Super convenient.
Interesting how much stuff the devs on xda have created that is merging into official android.

Interesting to say the least.

I was gonna say...yeah that's not a Sense 1.0 ROM.
It is. It was put together by tommy tomato for the evo 4G. It is called classic 1.0.
Quite possible it originated on 2.1. I was just showing people that have only used aosp stuff that is works really well with the double panel pull down.

This was a feature taken from newer releases of Sense that were brought to older releases. My first Android phone was an HTC with Sense 1.0...the toggles were never seen until Sense 2.1 got released, then devs got to porting them to older releases.
Not really a "classic" rom if it has a bunch of Sense 2.1 features...
Hey I didn't name it. I just used it.

I don't know about anybody else but I'm sold on the double notification bar. Seems like the best middle ground between notification widgets and the settings menu without obstructing the notification panel.

Great article. I liked how he asked you to try out the double swipe. Not awkward at all.

Yo guys, me and my man Overstew are about to release a Sense theme for FreeGS3 v1.0. So far, we've got only the Status Bar, but it's definitely coming along great!
Now, we need to know, do you guys want Sense icons everywhere, or a lite version? Do you guys prefer a LITE (status bar, dialer, mms only) or a full version (Frameworks; including popups, Sense icons everywhere, dialer, mms, pulldown, Sense icons for all apps, etc.) or both?
Any suggestions are welcome.
~Ascer
I'd say do it a full on sense theme. As many similarities as possible. Just my opinion. Looks great so far!!

I would really love a full sense framework ui on this phone. So closer to sense it looks, the better.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
I just wanted to say there are limitations. We can make things appear in the sense framework and even replicate many items 100% but things such as placement is outside of our knowledge. For example, replicating the pulldown is going to be nearly impossible but we can use the same color scheme.

For those of you who've tried the Google edition Roms for the M919, you know that these are some of the best ways to enjoy a stable 4.3 Nexus-like experience on our phone. I personally enjoy the VirginRom, thanks to it's stability and also the patience and kindness of its developer, Mr. Virginia (check out his thread in Dev section).
My question is, what apps or mods do people use to enhance the Nexus experience on these Roms. For example, what app is good for adding notification toggles? Is there a mod for changing quick settings? Etc. Thanks.

For quick toggles, get widgetsoid, change it to black and put notification icon to none and you have a touchwiz/jb like status bar

Cool, I'll check widgetsoid out. Haven't used it since Froyo. I was using Settings Extended, simple and nice looking. But maybe Widgetsoid allows for larger toggles.
Too bad stock Android doesn't allow for Quick Settings customization, like CM 10.1 and CM 10.2. It just makes sense.
