A Good Suggestion…. - Desire General

Please allow me a suggestion.
Posts such as this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971904) with more than 100pages and 5000(five thousand!!!!) are a waste and totally counter productive
No one will read it and only contributes for a mess and confusion.
This should be updated!!!!!!
Original post should be updated with the newer information and then the respective replied posts.... Just wipe all the old information regarding old releases etc.
How it is at the moment can't help anyone.

Freshest update for you man :
I am running DarkYorzua 2.2.2 which is so smooth and speedy rom
based on latest oxygen release but with themed apps and more in the package

The amount of pages could mean 2 things...
1) Theres lots of bugs and/or questions for said bugs.
2) Theres lots of positive feedback and this indicates a popular ROM.
I don't see the harm in it, you don't have to read 5000 pages as I guarantee, the complaint or bug that's on page 113 is more than likely fixed by page 200 so its safe to say by page 5000, you'd think most bugs would be ironed out?
Also, some people do actually use the search function of this forum as well ya know?

[Q&A]["Spamming and ETC :)"]CyanogenMod 9.0.0-GalaxyICS

Hello everybody here,
so lots of us said that we should have a "Spamming" thread for CM9 and 4.0 Android development made by Maclaw's DevTeam-thanks for them, again . So here it is:
Please guys, if you have any bugs and problems which are already mentioned in GitHub, but you don't care to "ask-first-then-shoot", then post your problem here.
Please, write here, and really, don't annoy dev's on their DEV thread. That's for them to submit upgrades, news, and stuff.
Thanks anyway, and please, let the Dev's work in the calm way it should be.
Spam and post your heartbreaks here
Thnx for the thread. I feel like I can post my non-contructive post yet not clutter the dev thread
I following/trying CM9 closely. It looks very promising can't wait for the finished ROM
I should make some time to properly test/bugreport in git.
Should be in general, not there.

have u ever thought, that 'tards constantly flaming and making EXCEPTIONALLY unnecessary threads such as this one, are in fact much worse than noobs whining about their gallery not working?
Seriously though, I've been following Maclaw's thread for weeks, and the spam is no where near annoying as some "certain efforts" to end it.
Haters gonna hate, noobs gonna noob, deal with it.
p.s i consider myself a noob as far as android goes. But i don't whine about it, and don't shout at people on forums.
p.s2 somehow I doubt that this message will make the impact I intended it to make... sad.
Oh, and another thing - how do you define "spamming" and it's relation to the original post? I'm not much of a linguist myself, but something tells me you're not either, therefore both of us should keep our mouths shut...?
Oh 2.0: did i mention that this whole thread is a spam? ( and what is it we do with spam nowadays huh? )
You made good points. I don't spam myself as I see others do. At first I thought this was a good idea. So the course of action is to kill this thread or let it die.

I thought maclaw would make one because he hates the spammers, so I suggested this, just like the ace forum

how about fixing 3d graphics in future? Now, Asphalt 5 is laggy on my Gio.
same as inotia, cant play currently
but that will be fixed when the rom features work flawless

feiks- if you dont feel that this therad is necessary, then ignore it. there are some people who think this is a good one, although Maclaw is right, this should be in general.
And yes, spaming the DEV post is something like the whining of ~15 people that gallery is not working, camera is not working...if they'd read first, then they would know what they can get from this rom.
Though, ignore this post if it's unnecessary for you.
For the others, enjoy.
A quick point about creating new threads and where to place them.

Intentionally creating threads in the wrong place, just annoys other users and creates work for me. In future think about where to place your thread.
If after creating a thread you think, "I should of posted that in 'General'". PM me or report the post, I'll happily move it.
Thank you
It was my fault to place it to development.

Loving the ICS ROM by Maclaw and the gang - awesome work - it keeps getting better and better with each release.
Android is new to me so still learning - trying to get text to speech working, of course to try out a Siri like app.
I cannot seem to find where to turn on text to speech. I have tried a couple of apps and it appears that it is not on - and I cannot find where to turn it on.
Thanks in advance for any help

Finally I can say something about CM9 and ICS. I've been quietly reading the development thread from the beginning and thanking developers' posts for many months.
Anyway, I read that next release will be faster and with more working settings. I can't wait to try it out. I tried Beta 2, because it got generally good feedback before, and I thought that maybe it is good enough for daily usage. True, it is functional enough, but just a bit too laggy and glitchy for my liking. It was a good experience to test it, and all in all it didn't seem that much different from Gingerbread afterall. I miss the ability to put widgets on homescreen by simply longpressing, now you have to go to app drawer and search there - but I'm sure I will get used to it in time. I like the new setup of settings menu though.
But my message to the development team and everybody else who helps them: Good luck and thank you! I will continue "thanking" your posts in the dev topic. We are lucky to have active CyanogenMod developers on our rather not-so-good and not-so-popular phone, and good developers too - Phiexz and Maclaw as the main men, but also others. Kudos.
Im dreaming about 3.0.8 kernel (or new) on ics 4.0.3 on Gio
If i get a new sms the phone wont viberate..
I have the silent profiel turned on but still normally i would hear the viberating sound getting a new message. This is a bit anoying cose often i have to react right away.
Any one know how to turn on the viberating?
Hi,
I installed beta3.
I can't download s2e from the market. Is any version that works with cm9?
Thanks
The betta 3 is a lot better alread. Things that dont work for me atm are: Camara (I did try other cammera apss to. No succes) The foto galary app will crash (I only have like 280 fotos. Kids there fun)
Playing movies (Xvid/divx) and mp3 does not really work well.
Thats it for no.. Got to work again.
Why Spam?
Just help Dev friends. Your support would encourge them to work hard on softwares. Sorry for bad bad english
There is a discussion in CM9 development topic about bootlogos. Am I the only one who doesn't care about it? I've disabled it anyway for faster booting. Why is bootlogo so important for some? For all I care it could be a steaming dog turd, it doesn't matter

Lowrider GAPPS

As a new user I apparently can't post this on the developer thread where this really belongs, but maybe someone here can help me. What is the difference between the stock GAPPS package and the Lowrider GAPPS package for CM10 for the Epic 4g?

I'm really not looking for attitude toward me here. I'm just asking an honest question. Perhaps I was too broad and came across as someone who shouldn't be crawling these forums. Let me clarify my question; Is everything listed below pretty much it then? I guess what I'm really asking is if the Lowrider package basically takes the upstream Google apps package(s) and just tweaks the code for these fixes, or if he's grabbing it from a fork of the original packages and bundling them together.
Included:
Fixes:
*TTS (Google Text to Speech)
*FACE UNLOCK
*VELVET (Google now) status bar weather fix
*Runs Fix Permissions when complete
*GALLERY SYNC
Adds:
*MMS w splitting - optional download that does not include this.
*VORBIS for Music Reconigtion
*SU - SUPERSU by Chainfire
*BUSYBOX
*GAPPS (JELLYBEAN) 20120726
Deletes:
*QuickSearchBox.apk (Keeps JB Velvet Search bar)
*Provision.apk
*Vending.apk
*Gallery2.apk
*Music.apk

New Here? Take A Look Please

Okay Guys... Welcome to Wildfire S forums... Please read the brief explanation about how things runs around here and also some most common questions which can be found spamming the forums here.
We don't have enough mods here and it's becoming a real mess here.
Let me try to explain what goes where in the simplest way possible.
Q/A: Every Question about the device or related to it anyway. No we don't answer questions like what's Justin Beiber's sexuality here. So please. Next time you have a question. Remember. Its a QUESTION HENCE Q/A. How difficult is that?
Dev Unless you are Making a ROM or a contribution which is related to firmware or anything like that. Please for the sake of our sanity stop posting it there.

Now Comes the award winning question, "Hi! I wanna root my device. Can you tell me how?"
Dude for the love of God take a look at Index. You can find many threads explaining in the simplest manner how to do the job.
Here's a quick answer for some random questions!
1. How to expand internal memory?
~ You can use link2sd or data2sd or int2ext+ or whatever you find and is compatible with your ROM. Refer to the ROM's thread on this.
2. Stuck at HTC logo.
- Wipe data, wipe davlik cache, wipe boot, wipe system, wipe battery stats. Try again. Allow it some minutes, Maybe it's just taking some time.
3. Which is the best ROM. (keeping aside the known bugs)
- Let me be brief and explain what's pro and cons of these specific roms.
--> Sense/GB ROM: Laggy, Awesome UI, Good camera and video playback, less battery life.
--> CM/GB ROM: fast, crap ui (unless you theme it pretty good), lot of customizations, good battery life.
--> CM/ICS ROM: fast, clean, fair customizations, Supports HQ playback now. can be used as daily ROM, looks good, great battery life, almost perfect except a aggy camera.
--> MIUI/ICS ROM: fast, pre installed apps, thousands of themes, same ics bugs, great customizations, great battery life.
--> CM/JB ROM: WIP means still not as stable and has many bugs. Can be fast, can be slow. Depends on builds, average battery life.
4. How can I customize my ROM?
- UOT kitchen, many random customizations on XDA.
5. Battery life is poor! What to do?
- Turn off autosync.
- Auto brightness.
- Disable animations, vibration feedback, wifi, mobile data when not in use.
- Check background apps which might keep cpu awake.
- use smartass v2 governer.
6. I found a bug. How to get into notice and solve it?
- Check if it's not already reported.
- Put it in the bugtracker of the dev.
- Submit a clean logcat to dev.
7. What is the correct way to install a ROM? In detail please.
- Backup stuff with Titanium backup or whatever you prefer.
- Take a nandroid just in case.
- Wipe data, 2 times just to be sure.
- Wipe davlik cache
- Wipe system
- Wipe boot
- Wipe battery stats
- Install File, select ROM
- Install Gapps. (If required, Sense and MIUI ROMS are bundled with Gapps by default so you need not flash it. Also ROBOTO Mod doesnt require Gapps.)
- Reboot
(For more specific procedure refer to the ROM you are installing)
8. What is nandroid?
- Nandroid is a special backup which is prepared by your phone's custom recovery. It just backs up all your system data, including your ROM and apps abd even apps installed in memory card and it can restore to as it was when the backup was taken... Just to be safe. Take one before flashing any rom.
9. I can't find play store!
-Flash GAPPS.
10. I can't download anything from PlayStore and It sometimes even give me errors.
- Remove the Google Account from Settings and then add again. That'd do it.
11. I have more questions?
- Again... Post it in the appropriate section.
Thanks for reading this. I hope you are somewhat clear of things.
These were all my views/whatsoever written here. I was pissed by so many idiotic posts.
Thanks.
P.S. Share this post and also suggest any new info which can be added.

I was just trying to help because we don't have an active mod in this forum and it's spammed with same questions all over again. Maybe a title like this would attract someone to read it first. JellyBlast V.3.5 Nemesis Beta Stabilization

Hi, i'm new here, but I tried all the custom roms the the XDA has to offer, and I found the best custom ROM that a Galaxy Y GT-S5360 addict must have. . .
It's the JellyBlast V3, will all of it's full update, but after you installed the OTA 5 update pre-nemesis, you will suffer some bugs and crashes, but I found a way to stable the update.
Just follow the steps:
1. You must have a link2sd application,
2. You must remove the jellybean search, Holo Launcher apps,
3. To remove this apps, just open your link2sd, select System
4. Select jellybean search, then "action" then choose "convert to user app"
5. Do the same with holo launcher, after the conversion choose "on internal",
6. The application Holo Launcher and Jellybean Search will be moved to internal,
7. Choose the said application then select "action" then select uninstall, do it to the said applications,
8. Some error might occur after you you finished uninstalling the apps, but it's okay,
9. After the uninstalling go to setting and select CPU Settings,
10. Set Max. Clock Freq. to 832 MHz and Min Clock Freq. to 832 MHz, choose "Performance" as Governor and "noop" for I/O Scheduler,
11. check apply on boot, then reboot your phone, believe me, it's 100% working!!!!
12. ENJOY!!!!
Again a jellyblast/nemesis

sorry,
accidentally pressed thanks instead of quote
anyways,
you never knew why jellyblast was closed and why we had such state of turmoil we had to ban the author and close his work from the forums permanently,
fans are blinded by the fallacies hidden under the veil of what was true,
this is not a place to discuss such matters,
this thread actually does not provoke anything,
and i could say it can stay as long as direct links to the jellyblast are not allowed,
some people are happy with jellyblast and we should learn to accept their preference,
as long as it is not posted in XDA and no link shall exist,
it's perfectly fine with me

anyways,
you never knew why jellyblast was closed and why we had such state of turmoil we had to ban the author and close his work from the forums permanently,
fans are blinded by the fallacies hidden under the veil of what was true,
this is not a place to discuss such matters,
this thread actually does not provoke anything,
and i could say it can stay as long as direct links to the jellyblast are not allowed,
some people are happy with jellyblast and we should learn to accept their preference,
as long as it is not posted in XDA and no link shall exist,
it's perfectly fine with me

I am not a fan or something and I knew why Jelly Blast was banned and It was right to do so
But he is helping the people with that ROM and there's no link to that Work apparently
And also I was referring to the unnecessary flaming
Once a thread is closed and author is banned, he has got his punishment and all, unnecessary wars and swearing is what I am concerned to, not more than that!

I got my Jellyblast here. And I m glad to find further threads about it, its my first Rom and I m not interested in flashing one Rom after another... I m just happy everything works fine! You banned the dev a few days after and you delete every way leading to him for asking questions.
Thats why I think this thread should not be closed!
By the way... I tried the suggestions and they work fine for me

Just a suggestion, but you may want to consider expanding on the issues so those that may feel like investigating have more to go on. For example..:
*Volume slider and slider animation - Can you provide a screenshot for reference of the issue?
*Missing Features - A list of what you find missing would be helpful. For example; Sprint removed Maps and YouTube since they can be downloaded from the Play Store...
*Unstable in general - How so? What are you seeing that makes you say it's unstable..? FC's, freezing, etc?
There again, only a suggestion but you may get more participation or helpful thoughts on remedies..
More Updates?
I was half expecting gb27 to be the end of the line for this phone.

GC01 is Boost's Official JB release.
Post removed. Wrong thread.
Now stop the bickering please.

People please... keep this thread on topic. There are a large amount of boost mobile users that are debating on whether to update or not. Thank you.
Wow... A newbie throwing out rules... Granted threads should stay on topic, but you should understand who is posting in your thread, OP. Garwynn is one of the biggest contributors for the E4GT as well as MoHoGalore. I don't think you have any room to make those kinds of demands when a RC has given you advice on this thread and you completely ignore it. So really, this thread has no real topic of discussion because it says absolutely nothing because of the lack of information provided, therefore people can post whatever they want because this thread is just cluttering up the forum.

Whether they're senior members or not, they should follow rules. They could be the owners of XDA and I'd still tell them to stay on topic. There are threads for general conversations, this is not one of them. Rules are rules, and they are meant to be followed. Now please stay on topic people, people really need these kinds of things. And also, he gave me a suggestion. I did not follow his advice because I did not feel the need to do so. My thread, my topic, my list. Whoever wants to add to the list can. Bugs need to be reported to samsung so that hopefully we will have a better future release.

Well if his advice is not important, then I am going to ask a mod to close this thread because it provides nothing. Also, that will be the last update from Samsung, so with that said, this thread is useless. I also am curious about who is reporting said "bugs" to Samsung? Do you think they will come here to find it? Nope. For the record, they nor I are just Senior Members. All of us that have posted and offered advice are Recognized Contributors. One would do well to take the advice of an RC to help better a thread, instead of blatantly ignoring them. We have been around for quite some time and in that time have learned how things work.

as soon as i gather more bugs i will report to samsung over and over until they release another update, and it was never stated that this would be the last update for the boost model. and if this thread does get closed ill start a fresh new thread where theres no un-needed conversation.

The Boost model is the same as the E4GT. The 4.1.2 JB Update has been reported as the final from the Samsung sources. I highly doubt they will pay attention to one person reporting little bugs, especially when you don't describe them at all. They have more important things to worry about.
i have a question. does it make you feel better to put people down over the internet? does it make you feel as if your in control of everybody? im not going to be the only one reporting. others that want a bug free GC01 will also report. now please stop further cluttering my thread and go troll someone else.

How am I putting you down? I am agreeing with another RC about your thread not having any descriptions to your so called "bugs". I am not trying to control anything. I am offering the same advice. You can do whatever you like, but I can bet that this thread will either die as is, or it will get closed. You can either let one of the 2 happen by not doing anything to fix it, or do something productive and make it a worthwhile thread. Also, take note. I have not seen very many other people complain about it. Seems like you are the only one or one of a very few people.
Protip: Putting full, well thought out descriptions of your issues will help us help you possibly fix them. If you don't think descriptions are important, you will get nothing.
Example: When testing Shadow_God's Jellyverse 2.0 ROM before he posted it. I ran into a few crashes. I didn't just say "Oh, it crashed". I went into details. "Downloaded via Wi-Fi and installed through Agats GB27 RePack. ROM booted fine, but shortly after getting into the setup process the Android.phone process started force closing. My baseband seems to have been wiped and the launcher seems to be nonexistent."
I then took steps to fix it myself. I was able to fix it with little to no effort, and SG was able to post the ROM without any issues.
So with all that said, if you want to ignore very experienced veterans on XDA, that is your choice. You are free to do so. But don't expect me or anyone else to take you seriously when we make an honest effort to gain viable and needed information to potentially resolve the issues, then have you ignore the efforts.
Consider the following, if we don't take you seriously because of your lack of information and willingness to help us help you, do you honestly think Samsung will give even the slightest crap? They won't... Like I said before, they have better and more important things to do.

I vote for option two.
The lack of description on these so called bugs is not informative to the readers, it makes me want to try flashing GC01 to my E4GT just so that I can try to experience whatever issues are being mentioned.

Removed my first post on this thread. I was wrong to post here and op was right to call out.
Op... how you updated to gc01 makes a difference. I still recommend a factory reset or full restore one click. This will resolve most issues as noted in past.
As for whether to update or not that's your call. Most around here believe it is FAR better than ICS and even though this is expected to be the final s/w release feel free to complain to Samsung and/or Boost if not happy. That's your right.
But please avoid using generalizations and then assuming the build is bad based on one individual's experience. That too does other folks a disservice. If you can please provide more specific details it helps the community note confirmed issues and possibly address them on our own.
Thanks.

I never stated that the build was bad, but like every build it has bugs. the reason i didnt further explain is beacause there really is no way for a screenshot... but i believe i found a fix to anyone experiencing these bugs. so heres what i did to fix my problem.
1. download superuser.zip from rwilco's repo
2. download the gb27 repack from rwilco's repo
3. download the stock gc01 stock kernel
4. place superuser.zip on your sd card
5. Odin the GB27 repack
6. enter recovery and flash superuser.zip
7. delete dalvik cache
8. odin stock gc01 kernel
9. reboot twice

go ahead. the more help the better. it is not some bug that will make you loose all your data... it is minor bugs that annoy the (insert profanity here) out of me. keep in mind there are two installation methods to installing GC01 provided by samsung, local and kies. i chose local because kies wouldnt update for somereason and would randomly crash
