Friendstream/Facebook Friend Status Updates? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having the most frustrating time with my Facebook updates and I am hoping someone can give me advice.
When I use the official Facebook widget, I receive ALL of my updates. However, I HATE the official widget since it only shows one status at a time. I want a widget that shows the entire news feed and is scrollable.
I tried using Friend Stream, however 1 of my friends (my sister, specifically) does not show up. I never receive any of her status updates. To my knowledge, she is the only one I cannot see.
If I try OTHER 3rd party widgets (such as Colorize Widgets or Android Pro Widgets) they also do not show her status updates but they ALSO leave out 2-3 more friends from appearing in my newsfeed.
Everything shows up fine on my computer when I look at my news feed, and like I said all statuses show up in the official Facebook widget. I have already looked at my application permissions in my preferences and all appear to be good. I do not understand it at all! Any help?
Thanks!

Hi,
I'm one of the developers of Android Pro Widgets.
We are using Facebook's Graph API and what you see are probably bugs of this API (on Facebook's side).
Facebook for Android uses a different method for fetching data (FQL queries).
We plan on changing to this method at some point as the Graph API is really disappointing.

Awesome, thanks! Any idea the time frame on what this new technology will be implemented? It sounds like this is something that all of these 3rd party widgets (including Friendstream) uses, is that right?

The Graph API is the trivial choice when using the SDK Facebook provides , so I guess most 3rd party applications use it.
I have some tasks with higher priority in my TODO list but hopefully I'll get to it soon.

[Q] Push Notifications

Im not sure if this just isnt part of the OS yet but is there any app other than the email & text messaging apps that use push notifications? anyone know if its something that is directly related to multitasking or is it just a feature that was left out due to time constraints? I've tried looking up this info but havent had any luck. Thanks in advance for any info.
I don't know if there is an app that uses "push" right now but I believe 3rd part apps e.g. weather or other apps can use "push" if they want to.
I don't think there are any at the moment but someone will probably create one.
i have seen two. pageonce and i belive the weather channel's app does as well. i think it does at least....it updates the weather on the home tile every 4 hours...without launching the app...so i could assuming its using notifcations. but pageonce for sure uses it, i've been getting my notifications often.
yes 1st, 2nd, 3rd party apps can use push notification,There are a few apps out there weatherbug is anohter.. I have an app that uses push as well its going through the process now to be added to the marketplace.. it send you push alerts when you fav. tv show is about to air.

[Q] Facebook Statusbar Notification

Hey,
i recently switched from an HTC Hero to an iPhone and now "back" to a Desire.
It's great of course but there is one thing I'm missing:
On my here i had got (with Froydvillain) status bar notifications for facebook. Whenever someone made a comment or whatever i got a status bar notification. is this possible on the desire, too?
Thanks
With the current Facebook app 1.5.1 I think, push notifications do exist, but they don't work and need to be fixed. Notifications do happen sometimes but it is useless app.
I've been looking for push notifications for facebook for ages and so far the nearest and best thing I've found is a free app from the market, called Flow.
The free app checks for new notifications every half hour and contains ads (but ad blocking can take care if that) , however the paid version can check much more frequently and also comes with homescreen Widgets.
I'd definitely recommend giving the free version a try

P.S - it also does pretty much everything the official app does, apart from chat, and does it just as well.

actually, my htc hero had (with the official facebook app) push notification?
So why this feature doesnt work on the desire?
This might be the answer (just found it on XDA-Portal)...
i'm going to try it

Edit:
Doesnt work for my... says: some error occured
Really, try Flow.
The standard Facebook app only notifies of inbox messages, event invites and friend requests but flow notifies of comments, wall posts, likes etc as well - pretty much any notification really

I have a desire and it always sends me notifications about everything that happens, all status comments, friend requests, etc. If you go into the app where it show different icons to go to news feed, profile, etc. press menu then settings, set refresh interval to 30 mins (this may chew your battery but you will get updates) tick the notifications box and all the rest of the boxes.
You should receive notifications to your notifications bar now

[Q] Best Twitter widget for alternative launcher

Hi,
Wondering if anyone can give me some ideas on the ideal twitter widget for my specific needs, because I've seemingly tried them all and not found one that beats the Sense one (Yes I know most people seem to hate it, but I'm not most people )
In particular, I want a widget that either can replace or work with the HTC Twitter app.
The one feature of the HTC app which I love is the ability to preview the links in a tweet in an integrated browser. I know some other apps do this, but not in such a user friendly way (imo)
Attachment shows what I mean. While I like Plume, and it has an integrated browser, that is only full page - the HTC app lets you look at the tweet while previewing the link.
I tried about 10 apps last night, and the one one I can find that comes close to the same behaviour was ubersocial. Unfortunately, the widget seems to have a problem with sizing on the HOX, not to mention that its not scrollable.
I realise the behaviour I'm detailing above is in the app - but what I'd like is a widget I can use in Apex that will either open the tweet directly in the HTC app (or ubersocial) or another app with similar features.
At the moment I have to use a separate widget to preview the posts, then open the HTC app and find the same tweet and use the preview function. Or use Plume (whose widget I don't really like and isn't themeable out of the box) and read the tweet OR the link, but not both together.
May seem an odd request, but I can't believe I'm the only one who likes the HTC app but prefers using a different launcher?
BTW, I'm mostly talking about web page links - I know that many of the programs show images inline with the tweet.
Any suggestions as to other ones I should try?
Last night I tried the following:
Colorize widget
UberSocial
TweetDeck
TweetCaster
Android Pro Widgets
Seesmic
Twidroyd
Twitter
Plume
Pure Messenger
and none of them did exactly what I wanted, though UberSocial was close.
Any further suggestions?
Gavin
And, that's why we get HTC phones with Sense; it comes fully armed with (mostly) best-in-class widgets & apps. Sorry I cannot be of much help since I'm right where you are - only, I've given up and rediscovered why I go with HTC, and not Samsung, to begin with.
Enjoy the hunt and kindly let us know if you find a worthy replacement.
Cheers
I use Android Pro Widgets, closest thing I've found to friendstream yet and they have good widgets for bookmarks, messages, calendar if you want to ditch Sense completely and go aosp.

I personaly use "plume", The widget is very nice .

Moto 360 notifcation bug, list your apps lets find app in common

Everyone including myself has the issue where once a day my phone stops getting notifications on my phone. It seems to be pretty wide spread but at the same time, some people don't have the issue at all. Which makes me think maybe it's a 3rd party app killing notification. So anyone who has the notification issue list all of your apps and maybe we will find one we all have in common.
To make this easy grab the app "List my apps" from the app store and edit the plain text template to remove the package name and just give you nice list of apps you can copy and paste .
I'll Start
A Better Camera
AcDisplay
Amazon
Android Wear
Apex Notifier
Authenticator
Barcode Scanner
Calendar
Camera
ColorNote
Facebook
Facer
File Manager
Find My Phone
Fraction Calculator Plus
Hangouts Dialer
IMDb

Smart Voice Recorder
SwiftKey Keyboard
TeslaUnread Plugin
Textra
Unread Badge
Volume Control
Wear Aware
Wear Mini Launcher
WiFi File Transfer
World Clock
XBMC Remote
Ok seeing how nobody is responding to my thread let me ask everyone this
How many people with the notification issue are running facer?
When I started having notification issues this was my app list:
- iHeartRadio
- Calculator
- UP by Jawbone
- Whoopee Wear
- Weather WatchFace
- Specialized WatchFace
- Planets WatchFace
- Swing by Swing Golf Scorecard
I then uninstalled all watchface apps and apps I don't use and reset Android Wear and the watch:
- iHeartRadio
- Calculator
- UP by Jawbone
- Whoopee Wear

Thanks for responding. But I Recommend you give a full android application list. Because other applications do push notifications such as Textra.
does acDisplay install on Android Wear? because i only listed my watch apps - which is where the problem is. The watch. Not the phone. At least not in my case.
In my case, the watch was receiving notifications, but wasn't alerting me of them.

I think this is why people wont respond because there are simply too many apps. Each person on here probably has 20-50 that are completely different from the next person. It would take a monumental effort to find a commonality between devices, something that should be Google's responsibility. It will simply be too difficult to filter through all the different apps people are using amongst each other.
The best attempt at self-diagnosis would be to just run your phone in a vanilla state and progressively installs apps one after the other over a period of several days to see if you can break the watch, then you would know which app is causing it. For instance the only apps I have really pushing notifications are Gmail, Google Messenger, and Exchange email. However even then, by just having Gmail connected I am going to get other things like Calendar updates, ToDo reminders, etc. Some things we may not even be able to disable so we'll never know where the culprit is.
Ultimately it shouldnt really be any of the apps since everything worked fine before the damn update to 5.x. Anyone know if it's possible to downgrade to 4.x?

If people would post using the app I mentioned above. I'll sort through and find a common denominator.

Twitter Client vs Other Clients (Inquiry)

When using the native Twitter app, the timeline jumps all over the place, is sprinkled with suggestions, the occasional advertisement, etc,. When launching the Fenix 2 app, however, it's clean and picture perfect when it comes to the chronological order of tweets (and ONLY TWEETS) that are shown on my screen. I can't figure out, for the life of me, how to adjust that on the native Twitter app. What suggestions and/or steps can people recommend?
Tap at the very top of the twitter app the little stars are and select Latest Tweets. This will show them in chronological order instead of "top tweets first". It does change every so often but you can easily toggle it back. If it says "Home" at the top instead of "Latest Tweets" you'll need to toggle it back. It's changed back maybe 2-3 times in the last year or so on me, maybe after the app updates, not sure.
As for the ads, you can't really do much other than top the down arrow on the top right of the tweet and pick "I don't like this ad" which will hide it from your timeline.
Fenix and other apps are using an API and don't show ads. They also don't have all features like polls, which only the official Twitter app can do.
