hello guys, my iphone gut stolen last week and after being hooked on the restrictions of apple i decided do go opensource. being in beijing right now i bought a htc from chinaunicom only to discover there are more restrictions on than on an iphone! as you can guess from my title i want to unlock it and install a new standard android version.
i have looked around for some guides but found nothing that could really help me... if someone could help me out or point me in the right direction i would be very thankful! ( dont forget i used to be an iphone man , not used to fancy hacking yet..)

will you be on tmobile in london?
If so, just call them and ask if your sim card will work in london without some extra charges. If not, they should be able to transfer you to a compatible plan without much trouble.
If not, you would probably have to wait out at least part of your contract period and then call them and ask to unlock.

This thread is already a month old, but FWIW: a german T-Mobile SIM works out of the box with the Shadow, no changes needed.

Just wanted to say this is the BEST site on the net I know of for everything there is to know about HTC's like my 8125.My first post here was a dumb question that I had.It only took a few minutes to find perfect answer for it.I've only been playing around with upgrading my phone to WM 6 for a few weeks.When I came to this site...That has changed.I want to learn as much as I can about my 8125.I would like to replace the housing myself when I feel that I can do it myself.So that's it...Thanks to all mods and members for tons of info.

I had an Apache for quite a while before I learned just how amazing that phone could be. Now, I'm on to my Titan & am loving it. If I had to use the phone in its stock form, I'd probably hate it. With what I've learned the phone can do, I love it... and what I've learned, I've largely learned here.

I have been five year Palm but had to jump due to a move to 3G Japan.
After two days I was about to smash my Diamond into little pieces, it was so unresponsive compared to my Palm.
Then I stumbled onto this site and was reminded why it is I chose winmobile, despite it being spawned from the beast.
It's because of you guys, the hackers and tweakers, tirelessly tinkering until perfection. If it wasn't for the tweaks and the utlities (like gsen) my diamond would still be a source of frustration than the delight it has become.
Once I get my finances in order I am definitely going to paypal some cash somewhere. I would super keen to donate to anyone making a system font manager, something that can cleanly link and unlink fonts.

I have some thought's about the HTC Wildfire S..
Sadly, it seems that it's not going to get rooted in a while (unless you're a fool to buy the XTC clip), and even if you do that - WHERE ARE THE ROMS?! I can only see just one custom rom on this forum, and it's probably similar to the original, i suppose that's because there aren't even any screenshots of it!
Alpharev X was really a life saver, because they actually managed to overcome the ugly S-ON on the HTC Wildfire. But talk about getting disappointed when they wrote that some things didn't work out on the HTC Wildfire S. I think that someone from Alpharev X wrote;
"you're better off getting the desire S and/or up.
much better devices.
Wildfire S is just old **** in a new package."

Sadly, i think that our WF S won't be S-OFF in a while, and if it does, people are going to forget it completely and custom roms won't exist for it.
Just read the Wildfire forum, people are launching new roms almost everyday!

You're right, Alpha guy with high level of culture and interpersonal skills ( maybe gay as for me...) told me the same on IRC, when I stupidly ask for marvel status ... Screw them.
Personally I'm waiting for HTC unlock, maybe near September we'll know something more ...
ROMs for Buzz are weird as for me, maybe 'cause I'm familliair with Cyanogenmod from previous device I can live without Sense at all.

Im thankful that they worked on the Htc Wildfire, but it's REALLY a big shame writing that WF S is some old ****. Maybe i don't wan't to buy a f-ing Desire because it feels like carrying a eee pc in your pocket.

Is the note five dead in here or still on the hunt for root
My understanding is that if you want root or unlocked bootloader, do NOT buy an AT&T device. The unlocked international version is capable of root and custom roms, from what I have read on the forums.
Yeah well I want to try to take a stab at it so point me were I can go to learn to mess with are I mean are only bootloader I have Kali liunx pc that's why I asked if there is a team working on any of this for note 5 if not I just want to do this for my self you guys do know we have oem unlock witch that is a good sign then you guys have found exploits to I have not upgraded to nugget I'm on mm how many years has it been since this phone been out like it was one said to me in another forum u can't expect someone to do it for u all I ask is you point me in the direction to mess with are bootloader only and also tackle knoxs my other ? You know all of this is one big B.S.. I'm 100 % sure this will not work on At&t note 5
