Stuck at splash screen no metter what - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Created fat32 partition and two ext4 partitions and no metter what ROM I install it stucks at splash screen.
Any ideas?

Read the OP of the respective ROM. The required partitions are stated there, but usually 1 fat32 and 1 ext is necessary.

go to mounts and storage and format everything apart from sdcard. Then try to reflash a ROM

I unrooted it but its still have Alpharev hboot, I tryed agien after bravo_downgare.img I hope it works, if it works I'll root it agien.

Ok I'm back at working gingerbread, I'm rooting right now. After that I'll create one fat32 partition and two ext4 for this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103410
I hope it works this time.
Any ideas why it didn't work in first place?
After rooting I have HBOOT 6.93.1002

delete your partition and start over with gparted
create your both partition with gparted and then wipe data/factory reset , wipe cache , wipe dalvik cache through recovery and after you have done this steps flash your desired rom

I did it all and when I choose install zip from sd it say's E: can't mount /sdcard

I'm back on original gingerbread becouse I tryed 5 different romds from Sensation based to Android stock roms and all of them stuck in slpash screen. Why?

Yes I did wipe everything.
I know but two sansation roms that I tryed needed two ext4 partitions, didnt work, so I formated sd card to fat32 and one ext4 and tryed one froyo rom and one stock android, all of them ended up at slpash screen freeze.

I made my ext 4 partitions with gparted live. As it didin't work I even tryed "create partitions" in recovery. Still stuck at splash screen. If I connect it to PC it constantly sound like I would connect it and disconnect it from PC.

did you created ext 2, ext 3?
did you create ext 2 & ext 3?
maybe the special requirement for the ROM that you wanted to flash is that you need ext 4, but I think you have to have ext 2 & ext 3 partition, like normal.
it is rather uncommon to me (I've only been here not very long) to see a ROM that requires two ext 4 partitions.

Every rom is particular
Normally its required 1 (ONE), and not 2, ext3 partition
2 ext partitions are a problem if not used properly
Re-do everything if u still cant boot ur phone

As far as I understand for this ROM i need two ext partitions - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103410
"Remember, in order for data2ext to work properly you need fat+ext+ext where your 2nd ext is 1/3 of your first ext"
What kind of ext partitions should I make ext 3?

I just understood why I'm stuck at splash screen - it's cuz I dont have root access. I use http://revolutionary.io/ but It just give me S-Off and not Root access.
How can I get root accesss?

The root permissions are inside the rom..as u going to install a custom rom, every custom rom have root access..

Flash a simple rom and see if it works..try cyanogenmod nyghtly in the dev thread..it doesnt require ext partition..follow the instruction on the first post of the thread

newbie problem?

Hi
Playing around with my rooted htc deisire i tried to flash the new RcMic HBOOT
After doing god knows what
i cant start my phone and keep having this message
Error in CACHE: recovery/log (No space left on device)
please help
Give us more information what you did before.
Did you full wipe/factory reset & wipe cache? What partitions do you have on SD Card, are you S-OFF?
yes
i am s-off
i did wipe cache/wipe factory reset
i tried to restore to my lee droid 2.4 but my phone keeps looping from the start
What partitions do you have on SD Card, which HBOOT you are using, which version of the ROM you flashed?
i flashed this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=988570
i have no partition
hboot 6-93.1002
Did you read first post?
It clearly says you need 1GB+ EXT2/3/4 partition on SD card. Thats why you getting errors and end up with bootloop.
Also if you have Stock HBOOT be sure to flash A2SD+ version, and CM7 version if you flashed CM7 HBOOT partition table.
Before flashing again be sure to perform Full Wipe/Factory reset and Cache wipe!

I cannot find rcmixs hboot. Only recommend one for this rom, which is cm7. You flashed this one? If, you cannot restore leedroid rom, because the /system partition of cm7 hboot is to small. If not, wright partition sizes of your hboot here.
Swyped from my HTC Desire using XDA App
sorry guys cant really follow
what you are suggesting?
right now i cant flash anything
Reformat your SD Card, make FAT32 partition + 1GB EXT4 partition. (backup data if you have important files on SD)
Full wipe/Factory reset + Cache wipe.
Download RCMixS_v2.0_A2SD+_BravoHboot.zip if you have Stock HBOOT or RCMixS_v2.0_A2SD_CM7Hboot.zip if you flashed CM7 HBOOT earlier and put it on SD Card.
Flash it, and wait... it takes a bit longer on first boot!
Enjoy.
if i dont want to flash rcmix and want to go back to my old lee droid rom, i have to do all these things you describe?
Yes you need, but just flash LeeDroid ROM instead of RcMix.
You need to do the rest tho because LeeDroid require 512MB+ EXT2/3/4 partition too for A2SD.
Btw. you need to repartition your SD card only once, then you just wipe and flash other ROM if you want, but EXT partition is mandatory!
repartitioning using which method?
g parted or through windows?
sorry for all the questions

GParted. With windows you cannot create an ext partition, because ext is a linux file system. But i would always use gparted or recovery of phone to partition sd card and never windows.
If U dont wanna use Gparted, then
use "MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition" in windows. (freeware-use google)
Can make all partitions, with no problems!
thanks very much guys
just finished
everything as before
followed your direction and i am back to business
Will this work for partitioning htc desire in windows. Tried Gparted but for some reason it wasn't working for me on boot.

cm7 and cm7r2 hboot rom won't boot

Hi i am using my desire fir nearly 2 yrs and have flash many roms with all hboot. Now when i'm trying to flash a rom with either cm7 or cm7r2 hboot , the phone won't boot. I have fllow the instruction on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192984 but still the same. can anyone help me to sort it out.
Thanks in advance
What hboot you have now and what is the rom in question?
SwiftKeyed from my HTC Desire using XDA App.
I have the same problem..
I'm trying to use sebastian15's Runnymede 4.8 ROM.
Any ideas?
I flashed the CM7r2 hboot, wiped data, cache, dalvik, rebooted to recovery, flashed ROM, rebooted, now I'm stuck at HTC splash screen.

I guess you should partition your SD card: the most common is 1gb ext, rest is fat.
I already did that using gparted. 1gb ext4 and rest fat32
Set both partitions primary? Created first FAT and then EXT partition?
SwiftKeyed from dGB with Transparent XDA App
ya both are Set primary partitions . I have created the fat partition first and then ext 4.

Same here guys,
CM7r2, 1GB EXT4, 7GBFAT32. Used Aurora 0.41, decided to change to insertacoin as aurora wasn't very stable and looked like partition wasn't working correctly. Pus, EXT4 partition is gone aswell
My sd card isnt readable on Recovery either (recognisable on pc though).
I've tried fastboot oem enable qxdm 0 - Still nothing. Card gives "unable to mount" message. Been at this for 8 hours now....
BUT, when i insert different sd card - seems fine...

OHHHHHH,
Finally looks like i'm all working.
I had to use my spare sd card to load Oxygen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971904
This enabled me to reformat my sd card (that was unrecognisable previously) on my phone - after rebooting the phone twice to recognise the card ( mounting and dismounting).
Card is now back to full capacity of 8GB. I've applied EXT4 1GB again, loaded Insertcoin and it's all GOOD!!!!
In terms of faulty EXT4 - performing fastboot oem enable qxdm 0 seemed to erase all the partitions and bring the card to factory state.
Hope some of you will find it useful.
Good luck to yall and MASSIVE thanks to those posting advice on this forum!!!
The case of vidrom is not the same as mine. see the first post it state clearly that i can't flash rom with cm7 or cm7r2 hboot. nothing to do with card can't recognise. I'm still searching for a solution.
Hey rajesh1108,
Have you tried flashing with Android Flasher ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638
I found it to be the easiest way to getting around flashing.
I was once stuck with at boot load and basically redid everything from the beginning using a different guide. Try following this:
http://androidforums.com/desire-all...all-about-rooting-updated-21-july-2011-a.html
Sorry i cant be specific - i'm quite new to all this.
GOOD LUCK!
What rom are you trying to flash?
@vidrom:
Excuse me, but how should your post help the OP?
I solved my problem! Updated my recovery to a new version of Clockwork using ROM Manager.
i'm trying to flash runnymede 4.8.
Yorba which version of recovery are u using. how did u proceed. updated recovery and then flash hboot(cm7r2) and then flash your rom?
I would flash Hboot, recovery and then rom. Are you sure you wiped everything? Created an ext4 partition with at least 512 MB?
ya i have flash the same way you have mention and my ext 4 is 1gb

[Q] Problem about MIUI V4 Desire

Personally i wouldnt use ClockWorkMod, its dodgy. but thats me. Go to miui rom v4 thread and read the developers install requirments. I hav'nt time to do it for you.(u should always READ before flashing a rom). I think in ClockWorkMod, u go down to advanced then partition sdcard, then it will give u sizes to choose from and pick what ever the dev requires
Sent from my HTC Desire
I'm using that ROM from Marange. My settings are 1GB EXT3, 128MB SWAP, other FAT32. This settings are working very fine for me...
During the installation choose custom installation then the LX-script (from Lennox, don't know the right name at the moment), then choose EXT3 and existing SWAP.
The first boot needs some time, but then all should work perfect!

[Q] Genuine n00b query after rooting on HTC Desire ROMS

I used the simple steps on the awesome revolutionary.io site to unlock and root my device, now proceeding further i had several queries which i googled but didnt find exactly what i wanted... so here i go.
1. I read about several Sense 4 + ICS ROMS but want to know is there any stable and fully working one?
2. I am backing up all apps (including HTC custom apps) using titanium backup, now i wanna know if the HTC custom apps (like weather, clock) can be installed on any ROM i install.
3. I read about app2sd, data2sd and simple2sd and understood most of it, but my doubt is if we use data2sd will we have to backup and restore all data and apps everytime after installing new rom?
4. Last one i saw ppl recommending class 6 cards for data2sd, is class 6 recommended for simple2sd? and will class 10 be better?
thanks in advance
1. No
2. No
3. Yes
4. Depending on SD, some Class 10 are not compatible so it's better to just get Class 6.
1) not working, very long way to go for daily driver
2) htc app requires htc framework unless ported properly
3) you don't need to restore all data unless you want to setup it again manually
4) desire was not made for class 10, some of desires are able to run class 10 some not, class 6 is safer and speed difference on desire is nearly the same due to limitation of hardware
edit: got beaten see above

Let's continue from here, what recovery do you have (clockwork, 4EXT ?)
sent from the Netherlands....
clockwork
sud i create the partition now?
oke, I had clockwork months ago. Now I am on 4ext. But what you can try is to put your sd in your pc and create a ext 4 partition with a program like wizard home partition.
Your sd card need to be setup like this
1 : FAT 32 - PRIMARY
2 : EXT4 - PRIMARY
your FAT size doesn't matter, EXT4 partition should be around 1024 mb.
don't know if you can repartiton your sd card within clockwork recovery !
sent from the Netherlands....
And its best to do a full wipe of the phone too, wipe everything
Cache
Dalvik
System
Data
Boot
Sd ext
Just to be sure .... and flash the rom all over . Maybe there is a faster way but I think this is the safest way !

[Q] What do I need to install Marange MIUI ROM?

Hey. I tried to install Marange MIUI, but got stuck on a boot-loop (HTC image was up for like 10 seconds, then the screen went black and repeated). So now I've restored my original ROM from a un-root .exe so it's like when I got it out of the box.
Now I want to give it another try, but want to know what I might have done wrong.
I downloaded the latest version of Marange MIUI, put the .zip on my SD card, made the partition in ext3 then installed MIUI through ClockworkRecovery. The installation went fine and when I re-booted my device it began the bootloop. I did wipe the cache and all that also, but it didn't work anyways. Also tried updating to the latest radio.
But now it's all back to square one, like when I bought it. Only thing I've done is to root it with unrevoked3.
Do I have to install anything special, like another ROM and then patch it with Marange MIUI?
Thankful for all help I can get, since I really want to run this ROM.
Also, sorry for noobing down this community.
The requirements are in the marange thread, right after the list of whats NOT working.

No, I'm s-on, according to HBOOT.
Well, first I formatted my SD-card through windows in FAT32. Then I downloaded MiniTool Partition Wizard and made a ~610MB partition in ext3 as a primary. It didn't have a driver letter on the partition, though. It's just called "*:" in MiniTool. Was I supposed to name the partition something, maybe?
If I need S-Off, how do I fix that?

It seems that whatever you used to partiton didn't do its job. S-off with revolutionary:

Then install 4ext recovery and partition your sd-card with it.

Thanks alot for the help! Ran into a bit of a problem with the 4ext recovery though. When I partitioned the SD-card, I then later was without any free space on my SD-card. It was like 172mb used and 0mb free. Why did it do that? I can't really set any size for my FAT32 partition, only the 1st and second sd-ext and for the swap files. Do I really need 2 sd-ext? Noticed that it says "skip" on the top when partitioning, if I skip like the 1st sd-ext, do I make room for the FAT32 partition?
When u partition ur sdcard with 4ext, it really depends on what rom u are installing coz some require different partition sizes but most roms require this so follow this -
Boot into recovery then choose
tools/partition sdcard
Remove all partitions and start from scratch
1024
Skip
Skip
Ext4
All done
Just be sure to check rom thread first for sizes, but 9 times out of 10 this is whats required.

Dont think so, iv never used this rom. Did u do a full wipe before flashing? If it were me id boot recovery, goto
Wipe/format
Wipe dalvik
Wipe all partitions except sdcard
Then try reinstall the rom
