My 3G is awful. 80 to no more than 300 kbps even with full signal in an urban area (st. Louis). Is this just sprint's network or a possible problem with my epic?

It's like that for me. I usually get around 100-200 kbps down with decent signal. I contacted sprint and they tell me to go to a sprint repair store and leave it overnight.
Flash the 3gturbocharger script. google it

I gotta email from sprint telling me that they are beefing up covrage and sprucin up there cell towers. What does this mean for people in poor coverd areas? Like the woods? Will we hav better service? Or will it just be better in the coverd areas

Depends on how far out of the coverage area you are. In theory, 1x coverage will be getting a big boost, since they are going to beef up the segment to allow voice and data to be used at the same time.
If you have 3g, in theory you will also have 4g LTE when they are done with their upgrades.
This is all part of Network Vision.

I got the same email. Sprint is upgrading their base stations. I'm hoping for better signal. I wonder if these new stations will be upgradeable to LTE Advanced.

i received the same email last week. im in a -91 2 asu average area. my typical speeds are 10kb to 120kb max. today i was pushing 800kb but an upload of 55kb.
Hey so I have a question for you guys. How fast are your 3G speeds? I'm asking because my gs3 won't go over 600 kb even at my best service. And my wifi is also extreamly slow. The wifi doesn't make sence to me Cuz my Droid x2 uses the same wifi and it gets triple the speed that my gs3 gets. Any one have the same problem or have a solution for this?
My WiFi is fine. 3g sucks.

Damn. Not even 56k.
I almost fell over when I ran this at my work...on one bar lol. Running totally unrooted stock LG8.

Just ran the wifi one and earlier this morning did the speed test down the road from my house.
Edit: However... look at some of the other tests down below...signal blows up around here, although I keep getting told just wait for LTE... I'm waiting...

LOL, that's about what I get when I'm roaming on your network(I'm with US Cellular). I thought it was just cause I was roaming.
I can't say the words "Sprint", "3G" and "Fast" in the same sentence without laughing (or crying)
This is in the Denver area:
Ping: 366 ms
Down: 23 kbps
Up: 326 kbps

Nope.. its because the network here absolutely sucks. Ive done battle with Sprint for over a year about the crappy signal here and gotten nowhere.
Here are mine. Funny thing is I live in a very small town in Western New York and we got 2 Network Vision towers put up recently with 4 more on the way lol. But hey I'm not complaining

Did another 3G speed test (out of the valley) and got much better results.

I get about 600 here in phoenix. No 4g here
I've seen MAX almost 2 Mbps. Average speed is about 1. Pittsburgh area.
I just got 446 kbps this morning but 9507 kbps tonight. No 4g and 905 nightly cm10. It seems things run better a day or two after flashing. Could be my imagination.
OK forget it, I had the wifi turned on ... "if it's too good to be true..."

I puked some coffee when I got this today. Proof that the Vision tower upgrades are a funky reality at the moment.

I was in NYC, and got 1.9 mbs down in Queens, and the Bronx, as well as in DC last week.
I live in Michigan, I can barely connect on Edge now. Is there an outage....?
4G alive and kicking in SoFla.
I been having same issues since monday here in Houston. It is slowwwwww speedtest tells me about 300 kbps or so. It still shows 4G but it is slow, then I go drive around and will pick up fast speed ,12 mbps or so. Like Im posting this now on a slow connection 700 kbps.

They are upgrading slowly in selective areas at a time. But it takes a few hours then your ok.

How are data speeds in the area? I'm considering T-Mobile over my current Sprint service. My typical Sprint speeds on my GS3 are usually 80-300 kbps. Sometimes higher every once in an area anyway.
Their unlimited data plan looks pretty good if the data speeds are useable. Thanks!

Definately check it out and add your results if you are willing! Instructions and description for the map are in post 2.
Also, I just verified for you that Detroit has been upgraded to the new hspa+ 42. This means you will get speed very close to current LTE networks. Many people have reported 20+ mbps downlink using speedtest. You should see some of these on the map.

A friend in my area tested his speeds at the same time I tested mine on Sprint. T-Mobile downloaded @ 7500 kbps, while my Sprint was like 33 kbps.
In my home in Detroit I usually get between 9 and 10 mbps. At my job in Livonia though it gets as high as 22 mbps. So it's kind of spotty but your speeds will always be better than Sprint 's
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
That's what I want to hear! Thanks!
I've never even seen 9mb on Wimax. I'm glad they clipped me for roaming.
I get good speed in Detroit depends where you are east side west or downtown

15000 and 4200 upload just now in Commerce. Was in Redford/Livonia yeasterday and got d/l in excess of 22000
I live in an area that should apparently be inundated with 4G LTE. Well I can walk around and get nothing but 3G and and mind blowing slow speeds at that. Since the service ahould be in my area and Sprint fails to deliver is that grounds to get out of my contract? Its not just my phone, my girlfriendhas the same and gets slow speeds as well.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
No you can't get out of a contract for slow speeds of any kind. But you can upload a prl that will make you roam constantly and they will cut you off for roaming too much. Or take it to a store and have them check it out.
