Hi! The actual thread would be the best place to ask this question.
To answer your question, I will say that the Search Functionality for XDAFB isn't done quite yet. It's in the works, and once it is working, things will be much better

Being that this is your first post, I'm going to tell you before someone else who isn't so nice will. You have to read the threads, and the wiki. Also, when you do a search, use google.
The sites search feature doesn't work to well, because of all the redundant posts. Also, check out the Hermes upgrading forum, they have a lot of great information there. Good Luck.
What kind of apps are you looking for?
To search this forum, you should use the following format:
launch the google search page
type:
hermes xda (name or type of application) i.e for hermes xda pimbackup:

this should find the post you can use to get information on a name or type of application that you might like.

Think I follow what you're asking......
The chefs have their own sources that they get copies of the ROM's from - obviously these ROMs are not generally released yet. "We" (i.e. the normal forum members) don't know - or care about - their sources, we just like the end result.

Thanks for your answer! though we just want the final result,i want to know where do the chefs' roms come from. it is still puzzled me since jasjaming said he would release black3.5 with the latest HTC drivers.also other members here "delivered" the x-button.

You know, while I realize that it can be annoying as hell when someone asks about the Touch Plugin, SMS threader, insert your whatever here, especially when there's a thread on that very thing about three lines down from the top, responding to a thread by saying "Use the search function, noob," really doesn't help a whole lot. I just spent half an hour pouring over about 30 god-damned threads filled with irrelevant bullsh!t and flame wars about how the original poster should use the search function. Well you know what? I DID use the search function, and ended up getting post after post telling me to do so. Every time we respond to a post without answering it, it shows up later to screw someone over who's actually been doing what they should. So please, if you must tell some new-comer to search before posting, at least follow it up by telling him where to find his answer, so it doesn't affect the rest of us later.
Alternatively, perhaps the mods could delete these threads entirely. And while they're at it, if they could improve the search feature, that'd be great too, because it totally sucks right now. Can't search "SMS" or "3G" or anything else under three letters, which can be kind of a big deal around here. Doesn't have quotation function. Lots of room for improvement.

BTW, make sure you include Hermes in the search term to get Hermes specific results.

Don't worry... It's 3am in my time, and US Public Schools isn't much better!
I have to say that its not just this forum that people insist on stating the obvious e.g. use the search.
I'm a firm believer in the philosophy of if you haven't got anything constructive or useful to say then don't say it.. e.g. don't be a smart @rse, don't post "use the Search" if it winds you up then ignore it and look away...

The apps like slide 2 unlock and others which will add features can be found in the development and general sections of the forum, everything is easily found using the search function (both google and vbulletin versions).
There is tons of info and programs in this forum. You just need to take the time and read.
I downloaded them I just dont know how to load them to my 8525 so they work

Just copy the file to your device or storage card, and click it from there! This is just basics of WM, but i remember feeling the same way when i first got a WM device!

Screenshot App Help!
Dunno why but it stopped working suddenly. Between one screenshot and the next something happened now it just says "Screenshot.raw file not found" and doesnt take the screenshot. I use the timer method. Any ideas?

try to see if it still has super user rights
try to post in the screenshot thread so that the person that wrote the app can see that there was a random problem

The app is bad,did you install a theme because this has happened to me a bunch of times,reinstalling the app wont work you need to install what ever JF build your using and it will work just fine.
If you did install a theme which theme is it?
Since the Screenshot App refused to work for me (>_>) I had to find a different way to do it which many of you probably already know about and is the way all those websites obtained screenshots of the G1 before release.
You can do it via a tool in the SDK called DDMS. You need to have the JDK installed first! You need to have your G1 plugged in via USB (but not mounted). Enable Debugging in the Settings > Applications menu and then you can open up DDMS. Once it starts select your device from the menu on the left (yours should be the only one and you really dont have to select anything. Then simply press CTRL+S and your screenshot is taken. A new window will open asking you to save, cancel, etc. It saves it in .png format in a location of your choice.
Just thought I would share.
Also, worth mentioning. The site I got this information from suddests having a IDE installed but I didnt and it worked just fine. Dont ask me what an IDE is cuz I dont know >_>

It's not that it's forbidden, but if someone uses message boards, it is assumed that one knows how to use the search function. It's just like on a job, if you are asked the same question over and over and over and it's something that it's documented already, that would annoy you, right? That is all.
I didn't actually ask a question. I just posted up what I found. And I am very well versed in searching. I found what I was looking for didn't I? But I couldn't find any results for it in XDA of all those I looked through. Anywho, don't want to argue or waste space posting in this so again, sry if this annoys anyone, not my intention. If it is free ware then you would not need to register it. If you do not have the install for this software do a search on the forums or on google to download it.

No need to be nasty. I have run into senior members before that just did not have any luck finding what they were searching for.
In my line of work it does not matter who you are trying to help you start with the basics. If you ever spent time helping out customers on a daily basis you might just understand why I started there. It appears to me you might not have searched hard enough if you still can not find what you are looking for. I was going to make a cab from a version I have and upload it but after that comment I guess I won't. Good luck finding what ever it is you are looking for.
