I know xda is a pretty custom forum software, but I was just wondering what its originally based on?
did it start with phbb? or some other proprietary package?
just curious
anyone know the answer?
Do a search in our Portal for "XDA History" or go dig in off topic, you´ll find your answer
uh vbulletin

Yes, but in 2003/4 (I think) it was upgraded to vBulletin.
Today it's vB 3.8.6 with a load of custom tweaks, mods and styling.

I just want to know that how can the "madmen" get the HTC drivers?apps and make them suitable for hermes to use,it seams that the HTC did'nt release them.if you get them from other roms, then how do they get? Thanks.
Being that this is your first post, I'm going to tell you before someone else who isn't so nice will. You have to read the threads, and the wiki. Also, when you do a search, use google.
The sites search feature doesn't work to well, because of all the redundant posts. Also, check out the Hermes upgrading forum, they have a lot of great information there. Good Luck.
What kind of apps are you looking for?
To search this forum, you should use the following format:
launch the google search page
type:
hermes xda (name or type of application) i.e for hermes xda pimbackup:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=hermes+xda+pimbackup
this should find the post you can use to get information on a name or type of application that you might like.

Think I follow what you're asking......
The chefs have their own sources that they get copies of the ROM's from - obviously these ROMs are not generally released yet. "We" (i.e. the normal forum members) don't know - or care about - their sources, we just like the end result.
Hope this answers your question
Mark.
yay i love this place

Thanks for your answer! though we just want the final result,i want to know where do the chefs' roms come from. it is still puzzled me since jasjaming said he would release black3.5 with the latest HTC drivers.also other members here "delivered" the x-button.
^^^ Well, have you asked Jasjamming where he gets it?
I doubt he will tell you but you might as well ask the source.
hehehhheeh
Do you know this is kind of a trick question ! Ask Mr Bill from Micr.... if you can know how the code is done ...
But if you know how just start spread it !!!
ehheeeeh
I looked on the forum and on the XDA wiki, but couldn't actually find anything about this.
Why should you upgrade to WM6? What do you get out of it? I've read something about the Bluetooth stack being "better" in some way, but don't know how. Is it more stable? Is the included application suite better or cooler? The shell looks almost identical.
Thoughts/comments?
Amongst many others:
Far more stable
Office 2007 compatability
SDHC compatability
Welcome to XDA Developers. Here is a previous thread same subject. That way we don't all have to answer the same question again.

Its "one more louder".

Thanks Jasen, that thread was extremely helpful and got me to make up my mind to upgrade
I went back a few pages but didn't see it, originally. Goes to show you how busy this forum is, I guess!
This may give you an idea

This came from a document called "MS WM6 Oficial Reference_Guide" that I found somewhere in the WEB, the document is a 11MB pdf and this is only a summary page (broken in 3 parts), note that in "audience" there´s no customer header.
Another few Points
- WPA2/AES Support
- more stable
- a lot faster

This is a mobile device forum. Google TV is not a mobile device. I own one as well, and would love to see development on it, but it won't happen here. I'm not trying to be a jerk about it, but that's the same reason there aren't any laptops in the forum. We have to stop somewhere. The site can include everything. Besides, it doesn't matter what OS the device in question is running, the fact is that it isn't a mobile device.
Check out gtvhacker.com for development on it. Google just released the 2.0 dev kit. Market access and Honeycomb are on the way.
I can't tell u how many times I've ask this question without anyone answering ....so maybe I'm the only one (prolly I'm missing something obvious)
But I have had no success finding anything useful (or even remotely close to wut I'm trying to find) while using the 'Search' option, in the 'XDA' app.
Does anyone know wuts up? ...will it ever be improved ...either I'm missing something or it needs removed, cuz as is, its completely useless!
*please, someone reply ...even just to say u don't have a clue but have also noticed it ...or that I'm stupid n the answer is right in my face ...just reply. Thnx.
Im tempted to say I agree, but I don't search enough.
One major thing I've noticed is that it's useless to the degree that it searches the whole damn site. It'd be nice if we could search forum specific or even thread specific.

This should already be possible in the app.
Yea should be more precise its hard looking for anything having to revert to the desktop and search is a pain

How do you do that? The only way I can search is by going back to the main screen, selecting more and then search. I do use the free app though.
Cool, nice to see I'm not the only one ...figures after I stop checking the thread, people start replying
But yeah, I was startin to think my app was defective. I should (prolly check the Actual 'tapatalk' since I finally bought it ...but I suspect its the same.
Thnx, for the responses
Hi guys,
I thought to open this thread on the developers sections, but I couldn't...
anyway.... I want to develop an app to open whatsapp from the "edge feed" screen (like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/themes-apps/4-22-quicklaunch-feed-galaxy-s6-edge-t3090255), but I don't know where to begin... I made some apps, but I don't know how to make a feed app!! I searched on the web, but I didn't find anything! Maybe you know something or you can provide me a page where I can understand more.
Thanks

well maybe better suited for q & a section but def. not for developer section since you didnt actually develop anything yet lol
i am not too familiar with the edge stuff development but pretty sure edge stuff is integrated into the framework so you need to make the feed apk work with the edge framework
