[Q] Original Text App for Sense 3.0 + Static Wallpaper (marquee) - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Heyas all!
Just recently joined, spent all last night figuring out how to root my Vodafone HD and figured i got the most help from here so i might as well register and ask here too!
My problem is that i've ported over to the Virtuous Unity 1.31.0 Sense 3.0 based on Pyramid
and it's great! but i want to have the old gingerbread style text messaging from my stock htc sense 2 rom.
I figure i can somehow delete the apk and install the old one but have no idea how (couldn't search it)
If anyone could shed light it'd save me installing a gingerbread rom again
~Edit
Also, any way to make the wallpaper in the background scroll like with gingerbread? the foreground marquee is a pain in the ass

Not too sure about about using the old Messaging app, as it uses the old framework (2.1).. I don't think it will work with the new one (3.0)..
but you can always try...
Just take the apk from a sense2.1 rom and use adb to push it into your rom. Try searching this forum on how to do that.
And the static wallpaper is a feature of Sense3.0.. you cannot get the scrollable wallpaper in Sense3.0 (yet..)..

dang, thanks for the quick reply.
I guess i'll just have to get used to this.
I always figured that rooting the phone meant i could change anything in the ui haha, guess not =P
Hopefully there's a solution to the wallpaper soon. Thanks!

Sense look on a Vanilla Rom

Hi all,
I'm looking at some vanilla Roms right now, as I'm sick of all the HTC crap But I really can't stand the Vanilla default rounded-white-awfull style and love the blak HTC's one. I've looked over the internet but I only find some framework-res.apk that would replace the notification bar. ANd I would like to replace all the look of vanilla (included radio buttons, checkboxes etc)
So here I come with this idea. Taking the framework-res.apk of an htc rom, let's say VillainRom for e.g (if they don't see any drawbacks in that) and replace a lots of stuff in a vanilla one, e.g ezHero, as this is the one I'm looking at.
Now, knowing the fact that I've never done some Rom customizing before, is this a quite easy task... I mean, some png are different in size, would this be a problem ? Do I have to do something else appart from zip align, re sign etc ?
Cheers,
LTourist
PS : and don't answer me "if you don't know that, you shouldn't do it" because the one who do must have started somewhere before becoming a rom expert
you should take a look at SuperHero from the VillainROM guys.
almost exactly what you describe.

Why don't you try it & see?
This should help: http://android.modaco.com/content/t-mobile-pulse-pulse-modaco-com/302404/ande-android-design-editor/
If you need any help I will be glad to help.
I was on SuperHero 1.1 once upon a time... but since the version 2, I don't want to go on it again... This version is, imo, just villain without sense home... which i already have on my villainROM... Moreover, there is still so many htc crap under SuperHero, like sms, clock etc...
I will have a look at the soft you're pointing to me 42turkeys, looks promising
How about: Take a great Cyanmod base (VanillaEclair because of its awesome power saving kernels and CM 5.0.7, or the straight 5.0.8 port) - and try theming with a CM theme? Problem with having Sense frameworks is that of space - and memory usage. They will always run in b/g
Scratch that - Just tried this and hung on loading screen.
Same here, but with the framework-res.apk modification that 42turkeys gave me. I started from ezHero...
I totally agree, sense framework is hell, that's why I would really like to have the best of the two world. And a vanilla rom fits in 60MB whereas SuperHero take more than 100MB... for absolutly useless app's and features... Vanilla with CM and "sense" look would be awesome!!!
Didn't know about the CM theme, i look at it tomorrow, it's too late now, off time
Good luck! If you need any help just ask and I can test stuff for you as I'm running EZHero too.
I assume "theming" CM is actually using Metamorph, right ?
Well, I'll try to learn how to do it this evening. Just in the mean time, I give a try at superhero again, just to be sure I don't wan't any crappy sense stuff, and I'm now fully convinced... SuperHero crashed this morning by waking me up as the htc clock was ringing but without htc's lockscreen...
VillainRom team has made an incredible work since a while, but this release of SuperHero is just a joke to me... (sorry for those who worked hard on it )
EzHero/Sense look, I'm coming
Well, I can't manage it...
Can't do metamorph because it seems dead and the only reliable informations I could find was videos made by stericsson... Which is not helpfull regarding the xml file tags and others specification used by metamorph...
I managed to boot with a modified framework-res.apk but android is crashing just after boot up... I tried to pushing the original apk but I got the same errors since then... So maybe it's not my apk which is bad but just the method I'm copying it : the brute force !!! (adb push ^^)
Does it gonna work if I'm making an update.zip ?
If somebody could just point me where to start, I'll be gratefull
LTourist
Probably the theme section of the forums as this really isn't development related...
Yep, I agree. I saw my mistake after my first post... But it was to late Maybe some moderator could move the thread in that forum to avoid duplicated thread

[Q] Themes for LeeDroid

Hi
First off, sorry if this is in the wrong place or whatever.
I'm looking for themes for LeeDroid 2.1, I thought that this would be a good place to put them all here. Specifically I'm looking for a straight up espresso bar mod, and I'm interested what else works with LeeDroid
Me too
+1 for this request
Are there any known working themes, because the ugly white ico of gmail and sms's is just too ugly...
Thanks for helping us ;-)
themes made for the official htc froyo update will work with leedroid, have you tried making your own , using the dr droid online kitchen?
I have indeed had a look at the excellent Dr Droid kitchen, it's not quite what I'm looking for, but indeed nice. I'm not too fussed with changing Sense's icons, especially since the OTA recently added some colour.
What I would like to do however, is get the espressobar and some other Launcher type theming, that still enable the full use of Sense's widgets, my Clock and News widgets are going NOWHERE thanks.
Trouble that I've found with the espressobar is that I can't find a solid straight up version for 2.2, correct me if I'm wrong, please, but I can't see it.

Hi, i am currently mixing this 2 gorgeous themes

Im not exactly sure what you mean by straight up espresso bar but theres a thread for it at here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=705967&highlight=MOD+espresso
Hope this helps!
I forgot to mention theres a minimalist bar as well from the simplism theme
Those two themes would go nice together for sure, the whole custom icon for each app is good, but it does take a lot of work, besides I adore Sense's icons.
Yeah, I've studied the thread you linked before, that's what I want, just EspressoMod, for both home and lock/call screens, butit's for 2.1 as far as I can tell.
And why adb? What's wrong with an Update.zip
I'd be happy to test your theme once complete, as long as there are no reboot loops lol! I LOATH reboot loops! Give me an e-mail when it's done or just for whatever! Should be in my profile.

Hi there,
I didnt realise it was a 2.1 but if you read all the way back, they ported it for 2.2 already and packed as a zip. Should work on the latest leedroid 2.1 as well since all my theme files I used is from all the way back since 1.6

As usual, do a Nandroid backup before applying anything.

Thank you for putting this together! I'm downloading it right now! How did you make this one? Is it just a modded CM7 or Nexus S build, or is this a real AOSP build of Gingerbread?
That's what I've been lookin for is a complete AOSP build of GingerBread for the MT4G.
What Version clockwork do we need?
Can you post a link for it?
Thanks will give it a try.
Can anyone post this to a different mirror media fire sucks

Sorry guys, posted an incomplete rom, Default should be the Nexus S live wallpaper.
The ROM posted is incomplete due to lack of stock apps like google's music app & car home.
also next link will be megaupload, sorry about mediafire but its the site I get best speeds on.

Everything should be good now, I also uploaded on Megaupload for everyone
Is the "MY PHONE NUMBER" working in your build?
I did a full wipe and installed the new version. I still have the mountain wallpaper?
I did not download the gapps again as I don't think you changed those?

I didn't change the GAPS, are you still able to go manually change the wallpaper to Nexus S live? I'm still working on getting the microbes wallpaper fixed I have it running but then freezing after a few times locking the screen. Hopefully I'll stumble across whatever it is causing the problems with the wallpapers.
im going to give this a shot im hoping it has alot of support im looking for a stock rom the cm7a has trackball wake/unlock working any chance of that being in your rom also this you can add this edit to your rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10339342&postcount=2671

Thanks, Yes I know it can be enabled but as you said just above the Nexus S wallpaper was supposed to be default so I was just wondering why I'm not getting it?

I will for sure look at that and see if I can't port that into this rom here, I myself would also like to have that feature. The change to 14 is already implemented into this ROM

[Q] Is there any way to set a different background for the lockscreen?

Don't know if this has been discussed, but it would be pretty cool!
If you root and install CM7, the feature is coming soon. Should be coming in a nightly release in the not too distant future.
Btw, other ROMs may claim to have this feature first, but the code is "stolen" from CM devs. The version they have is buggy and unstable according to the CM code review site.
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
I would love to have this feature. I switch wallpapers all the time.
On another note, I can't wait for CM7! They seem to be makin good progress with it, hopefully we have it soon.
You can try Widgetlocker as well. Not sure if there is a free alternative out there.
I just tried widget locker. Its almost what I'm lookin for, but won't let me choose live wallpapers, I can only choose from gallery.(now I'm getting picky, I know)
um to change your background of the lockscreen is really easy... change your phones' wallpaper.....
unless you want a independent one from the wallypaper? I would assume thats what your poking at>

I think you missed the topic of this thread....
HTC Vision (G2) - CM7 RC1 B11 (B4 GPS)
Yes exactly what I'm trying to do. Widget locker worked the best but won't let me run live wallpaper for lockscreen.

[Q] Can you switch out the lock screen on Warm Z TwoPointTwo

Is it possible to switch out the lock screen? There is a post in the dev thread where someone has offered up a replacement but says it only replaces the 'vanilla' and not sense. If you run this ROM you have sense, right? If someone could point me in the direction where I might be able to learn more about how this may/not be possible that would be great.
Widgetlocker?
I could be wrong but I think there might be a sense lockscreen apk in data/app or system/app. I'm thinking if you delete or rename that, you'll have the "vanilla" sliding tabs.
Note: This information may be entirely incorrect.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
FYI
NOTE: If you do rename the WarmZ 2.2 lock screen file ---> /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk
as mentioned by k_nivesout, you will then have the vanilla lock screen.
With the vanilla lock screen, you are going to need the vanilla clock app.
The htc sense clock app and vanilla lock screen does not play well together. You will get an alarm that goes off, and you cannot stop it until you restart your phone.
Thanks for the help. I have progressed in my quest. I have found that the lock screen I have been trying to get installed, posted by gomorrah, uses update-script that isn't compatible with CWM3 (ammend vs edify). Trying with another recovery I am now at the point of not having Launcher2 so I'm chasing that piece now.

Could you post a link to said lock screen? Is there more than one, or just a single lock screen?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11897693&postcount=2454
if if wont flash on CWM 3 use this. just flash it first then do whatever you want after.
Thanks. I was thinking down those lines. The package installed, at least as far as CWM was concerned, without error. Problem is that nothing changed.
is there anyway to get the lock screen (+weather animations) from synergy rom on warm z 2.2? that's my favorite part of the synergy rom (easily amused i guess) but otherwise like warm z better...been searching forum for some time looking
thx for any info
No, I don't think the sense 3.0 lockscreen will work on a non gingerbread rom. I believe incubus is working on a warm 2.3 rom, and there is already a warm skin for synergy.
thanks
will any skins for synergy rom from other phones work? i'm not finding one for the incredible (forgive me if i looked right at it & didn't see it) i found skins for the evo synergry....
