So I just cannot live with my GPS lock failing and just stopping working after 20 - 30 minutes driving. So I figure I will just go back to the most recent stock ROM via odin. Went to the wiki and its just confusing.
I have ODINd so many "leaks" that I do not remember what the official ROM is anymore. I just want to go back to what would be installed on the phone if I bought it in a store today.
Sorry for the silly question...
EC05 is the latest official. But most of the custom ROMS based on EC05 are quite good. Urban Regeneration, SRF, Simply AOSP, are all great ROMS based on the most recent public release.
Edit: To fully answer your question the ReRFS will bring back to full stock except for having clockworkmod installed and that seems to be what you are wanting. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027904
EC05 is the latest stable release.
EG22 is the most stable 2.3 release except GPS. I think
I went back to ec05 cause the eg and eh had issues with tango making my face zoomed in too close but are there other 2.2 roms that came after ec05? I'm kinda late to the epic but its still a hot phone!

When I rooted my Epic 4g installed a custom rom my wifi and gps would stop working. I installed the modem and I was using dx28.
I also tried rooting my brothers epic 4g to see that its not just not my phone and I came across similar results. I followed the forums step by step.
I got so fed up that I returned the phone to stock forum, however I am getting a little impatient on Samsung to bring 2.2 because 2.3 is already out and 3.0 is coming pretty soon it seems.
The Roms I tried were, Nebula ROM, ViperRom, Bonsai, SyndicateROM, Supernova..
Even using just the stock 2.2 froyo leak I still have the same problem. Am I doing something wrong here?
Even if you flashed everything correctly, this is caused by the modem. Start from scratch. DI18, DK28 Modem, whatever instructions you were given.
I had the same problem with my GPS..
To get mine working.. I flashed to stock DI18 then Flashed the modem separately (DK28 moden only) then Flashed to Full DK28.. then custom ROM
This was helpful as well...

thirdly.. try clearing the GPS cache wtih GPSTest (found in Market)
I had to odin the DI18 then flash the DK28 update.zip to get mine to work correctly.
So guys, I've done some searching and haven't found an exact answer to this question. I used the Samsung software to flash EB13 to my phone, so it's all stock as of right now.
Is it possible to use ViperROM with the EB13 modem installed from my current setup or would I have to ODIN DK28 and then OneClick CWM3/ViperROM?
Thanks!
as of right now
As of right NOW with THIS release i do not believe it will work. I am about 99 percent positive. But if i were u i would go on the viper chat and ask. THAts what they are there for.
Not sure about viper rom, but i have the eb13 modem
with the dk28 2.0.1 bonsai rom and works perfectly.
So i assume it should work on all older roms.
I'll give it a shot. If it breaks, well then I'll re-flash.
Im running viper on eb13 and its been workin better than dk28

Running DK28 Quantum 2.7 with EB13 modem. No problems here...I just couldn't live without the video camera working correctly.
ViperROM isn't built for EB13, so even if its flashable, there might be some bugs. I'm running midNIGHT ROM (EB13 version) with the Genocide EB13 EXT kernel and it runs great.
I've yet to run across any bugs

i have eb13 with cwm3 viper trinty and the new 1.2 kernal works great only problem is gps navigation it cant get direction it keeps searching & browser sort of lags but other than that its good
Running ViperRom with EB13 as well...no problems here. No force closes or anything. It's not scoring quite as high in linpack and other benchmarking apps as it was in DK28, but still quite high.
As the title says, should i stay with my 2.1 (i did clock workmod and using Mobile AP to pair it to my Samsung Galaxy Tab) or should i go and update to 2.2(EB13)
the question is cuz i have heard a lot of bad thing about the update (2.2), that it doesnt work properly, problems with data connectivity, problems with the sd card and that even Samsung pulled out the update from their web page cuz of the complaints etc etc etc...
dont know what to do
guy's what do you recommend
i just what to keep using my Mobile AP
The stock Eb-13 is horrid, it does have problems, but if you flash a good stable rom, you'll be able to use Wireless Tether from marketplace and have the same setup. Froyo enables so many more features than Eclair so I would update.
Syndicate ROM will be a perfect ROM to run once he updates his ROM (mostly tomorrow) to v1.0.1.
I would honestly upfmgrade to eb13. Yeah it has some problems but most of the problems have been patched. You could stay on stick rom and flash a.custom kernel that has the patches into it or flash a custom rom that will have the kernel built into it. As far as best ron's its up to but I like bonsai rom. Version 3.0.1 is getting ready to be released as I am a beta tester and it's very fast and stable and has all the carrier IQ removed. Good luck with your decusionr

But if i get EB13 , would i b able to get Mobile AP, i like it cuz it pairs easy with my Samsung Galaxy tab and with tether my tablet never find my Epic 4g (wifi)
were can i download that custom EB13 ??? whats its name??? Syndicate rom it is??
I'm having the same issue. I'm wondering if I should even update to EB13, I just received a replacement Epic through Sprint and I don't want to run the chance of ruining my new phone with EB13. Especially with the data connectivity bugs, sd card, profile and prl not updating etc... (which I don't believe I had any of these issues, but not sure I want to take the chance). Is it OK to update, really?

EB13 was working fine for me, noticeably faster! Although perhaps not so good a battery life... but I just made the jump to Syndicate. Couple issues, but they're being worked through and it is fantastically efficient as is. But if you update either way, do a fresh install. Avoid most of the issues you've read about by doing a clean install.
In my opinion I would upgrade, You cant make judgement on a few people mishaps. If anything you can just root & rom, after you upgrade.
I updated my phone to FI03 with AGAT recovery and it really screwed up my GPS where it would lock once but trying to lock again would require a reboot.
I brought my phone back to EK02 and got the GPS working and then reflashed to a FH23.
I used official updates as I am scared to brick the GPS again.
Where do these early updates come from even before they show up as official to download from the phone itself?
Thanks.
They are leaks and they come from an unofficial source. Most phones don't get these so I'm glad we do even though they are unofficial releases . My GPS works just fine with FI03 leak.
My Epic is pretty much stock (EI22, Kernel 2.6.35.7), it is rooted and I added the GPS fix and the 4G boost.
I have been experiencing reboots every other day, and I think they match the issue described in
toadlife's The spontaneous reboot (solution?) thread
So I just ran out of patience; and I'm thinking to either upgrade the kernel or install a whole new ROM.
Also, since I use the phone for job related tasks, stability is a must.
I don't know if just a new kernel may help, hence my question:
What do you recommend and why (other than a GS III )?
If you're rooted and don't want to stray too far from "stock" Gingerbread I would suggest trying out The People's ROM.
Very stable, I go days/weeks without rebooting (my current uptime is 425:18:46) and don't think I've ever had a spontaneous reboot. The only thing I run different from TPR standard is the CleanGB kernel.
The CleanGB ROM is very good, but it stopped at EL30 (TPR is running the latest FC09 release) and requires some fiddling to stop the OTA update messages.
Other than that, CM10 is very impressive but still a work in progress (and a lot more demanding on the battery).
No matter what you decide I would suggest updating the modem to FC09.
Or fc09 stock prerooted
