Zune 4.8 Official Client Testing for current Mango B2 - RTM users - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

Although I'm sure this may not be an issue, but I think we need to have some testing on upgrading to the Zune 4.8 official client to see if there are any issues with users on the B2 and RTM... or even any new updates introduced due to the arrival of the new client.

On B2 and haven't had any issues with the new Zune software yet.
I also see my most recent restore point available in the new Zune software, but I haven't tried it (and I probably won't until Mango final), so I don't know if it will restore properly as of yet.

Hmm.. I wonder about backups/restoring.. if that's changed any. Thanks for giving a B2 input. Now we need an RTM tester.

I am on RTM and Zune 4.8 is working without problems.
Phone is still unlocked.
P.S. No need to download Zune 4.8 from web, just update from beta to final with check for updates function.

I'm on RTM too and I haven't any problem with this software and phone is unlocked too. I don't tried restore from backup but when I try, I write about this.

Diez this official zune release jeans that mango launch is almost here?

I think you mean here is where to download the official version of the Zune 4.8? If so try this: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=27163 for your language you must change from context menu "Change language"

B2 issue
Just updated to Zune 4.8 via update in zune. As of now, phone no longer connects to Zune. Running B2 on an unlocked Roger's Samsung Focus on Telus

Just updated
Hi all
I have just updated to the "Final" version of the Zune software (4.8.2345.0) which was delivered via an over the web update from the "RTM" version.
My phone is WP 7.10.7720.68 and connects without problem to the new Zune.
Thank you Microsoft!
Cheers

Thanks for the hint on manual Zune update! The software did not prompt me for updates, so I tried the manual way as described. In addition to that, Zune installed new drivers for my HD7. The rest works just fine.

I have an HD7 with Mango RTM, works flawlessly.

a) For the love of God people, please use question marks!
b) He said he's on 7.10.7720.68, that's the RTM not the official dev beta.

Cannot update to ISV 7712
Hi!
Today I wanted to go from 7390 (Custom ansar) to 7720 but update to ISV 7712 beta failed with this version of Zune.
If I go from 4.7 it says that before performing any update (both 7390->7403 and 7403-> 7712) I must update Zune to 7.8 which fails to update to 7712 (tried 3 times).
So I'm stuck at 7403/7390.
Can anyone confirm this or is there any known workaround?
I guess I should wait for the official 7720 update through Zune?
Regards,
Cina.

Which version of Zune are you running?
When I was going from NoDo to the two betas, it made me upgrade to 4.8.2345.0. Once I got to the step to go to 7720, I ran into the same issue. I uninstalled Zune and reinstalled 4.8.2134.0. After that, I had no issues installing 7720 (RTM).

I'm on official Zune 4.8 and Mango 7720.68, no issues with sync. Could it be that you are handling the phone with another program (perhaps the USB enabler or something can interfere)? Check Zune is set to open when the device is plugged in, and be running the latest Zune.

Wait to hear which version you get...
My surround with 7714 DFT asked me for update too, I updated and it was the same windows buid, in zune the update notes just said HTC update, I can't find any diferences.
this update would come form htc, radio&spl perhaps
i dont think its an update to 7720 coz if you are on DFT 7712 & 7713 you cant update it to 7720.
i got the same... and it "loops" to the same, and it asks me to update and it's still the same... now i'm stuck with "update required" on Zune...

[SOLVED] Beta update to 7712 fails with latest Zune 4.8

Hi!
Has anyone noticed that the latest update of Zune fails to finish the update of ISV 7712?
I think there is no workaround as Zune 4.7 or beta 4.8 insists on upgrading itself before performing 7712.
So probably all the beta updating threads are rendered invalid...
Anyone can confirm this or is it just me doing something wrong?
Regards,
Cina.

Hi,
I found out a way that will be introduced with the new custom rom upload
Regards, ansar
I just updated to 7712 a couple hours ago. It did force upgrade Zune to the official 4.8 & the update to 7712 worked for me. I had to uninstall Zune though & re-install the 4.8 Beta to get to 7720.
Hi,
I hope they will not find another way, now that they know how
Regards, ansar
Hi!
Which ROM was your initial flash? And which one of the provisioning tools you used?
Great news that it is still possible.

I didn't use a ROM, I used what my HD7 came with & the stock updates that brought it up to 7392. I used the attached exe to get to the ISV & than use Zune 4.8 beta to get to 7403, which in the process updated to 4.8 Official. Than used the official again to get to 7712. Than uninstall the Official & re-install Beta to get 7720 with the BAT file.
I personally used everything included here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16594850&postcount=1
I had updated to Mango, Zune had updated, and I restored back to NoDo. Had to uninstall Zune then install the Beta, 7403 and 7712 updated along with Zune. Then had to uninstall Zune again and install the Beta for 7720 to work.
SOLVED
Hi!
It was my fault: I gave wrong MUI registry data in 7403 while I was selecting Hungarian language and this was the reason why updates failed consequently. Now I'm at 7720.68 with MUI 040E (Hungarian).
Thank you all your help and I'm sorry to keep you busy with this.

Cina.

Stock Mango 7.5 Multi Language HD7 (Spanish included) - NO HACKING, REGISTRY EDITING

Hi to everyone,
This is the simplest solution I have found to have a multilanguage HD/ without any ROM changes o hacks or anything similar for that matter.
The solution? Force update to Windows Mango 7.5
How to force this update you ask? Here's the info from WPCentral. I have just completed my update and FINALLY have the spanish keyboard and language pack I was desperately needing.
Before we begin, keep in mind that a total of three updates must be installed on the path to Mango: 7392, 7403, and 7720, which is Mango itself. The process will take a while. Some people may already have 7392, in which case things will move a bit faster. I also recommend removing any music and unessential apps from the phone beforehand, as that can significantly cut down on the time it takes to backup and restore the phone's data.
Steps to force a Mango update on phones for which Mango has started rolling out:
Connect your Windows Phone to a PC and launch the Zune software
Click on Phone > Settings > Update. Allow the software to tell you whether an update is available. If so, skip this guide. If not continue to the next step.
Time to force the update. Click another button (any of the options above or below the word Update). Then click the Update button again, and this time disconnect your computer from the internet after 1-2 seconds. Do this by pulling out the Ethernet cable, disabling Wi-Fi, etc. If it says your phone is already up to date, you didn't disconnect quickly enough and need to try this step again.
Wait 30 seconds or so and Zune should display a notification that an update is available. This is 7392, the first Mango pre-update.
Now reconnect to the internet and continue with the update process through the Zune software.
After 7392 is fully installed, you may receive a notification that another update is available. If so, install it now. If not, proceed to the next step.
If the second update isn't popping up on its own, repeat steps 3-5, causing the 7403 update to appear.
Install 7403, brave reader. Speeding right along, isn't it?
Mango time! At this point, Zune should automatically start installing the last update, 7720, aka Mango. If it doesn't happen automatically, force it like we did in previous steps.
This last step is very important! Celebrate your phone’s new found Mango status by purchasing a mango smoothie at your nearest Smoothie King, Jamba Juice, Baskin Robbins, or similar establishment.
Hi there!
Have you tried this? Several of us are making this and none of the new languages are being installed, unless you have made the registry key trick.
People are reporting that Mango is not installing any additional languages. We don't know if its something to do with the update, with the manufacturers or if it will be available an update to enable the languages...
@fsabatino I don't know what do you mean ? Spanish language is already in system from start platform Windows Phone 7 (1 october 2010). Update Spanish language is normal because it's in 5 languages supported by Microsoft from start (English, German, Spanish, Italian, French). You try download update for other languages without registry change - it's impossible.
Hi Necroman. Yes, I have updated to Mango shortly before posting this and it definitely includes new languages.
Budniu, what you say is true only if you have the European version. This applies to all of us who were running the Asian version (sold in Australia) and had English as the ONLY language pack.
Ok, I understand THX.

Any other extra languages also being loaded on the phone? So I may consider to flash the Asia ROM to my trophy.
