[Q] Miui keyboard - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a question about my keyboard for MIUI, sorry if its the wrong section but, I have Miui 1.8.19 and for a long time now i cannot toggle the vibrate. For some reason my keyboard never vibrates i wipe everything and i dont know where to find a keyboard that is free and isn't swype and i want to use this stock android. Does anyone have a fix for me or a new keyboard. Anything would be greatful thank you.

Go into menu -> settings -> sound and turn on haptic feedback. See if that works for you.

This is not a solution to the problem. Swype doesn't vibrate either. Tried GO keyboard as well. Haptic feedback works everywhere else though.

[Q] Where is the latest Swype WITH Mic for EVO?

Hello,
There is another post with a updated Swype APK that purports to have the Mic added, but all the links that point to the mic version are broken. Does anyone have the APK or a link to it of the latest swype with Mic version? The only one I could find searching is a horribly ugly one with blue and red keys...
Thank you in advance!
BUMP!
How is EVERYONE not interested in this?!
Search......Swype no longer available its now warez....
The Swype developers were being douches. They were pissed about us posting links for free downloads of free software.
There are several other forums that have those links. I won't say who, but google will get you there. Google the latest version number of swype: 2.4.44.10912
I thought Swype had hit all of the Android forums and made them take it down......I'll just have to take my theme work over there
I have the latest version and there is no mic, unfortunately.
I have swype 2.4.44.10912 on my Evo and can confirm there is no mic feature. And since there doesn't seem to be any *quick* way to switch back and forth between Swype and Touch keyboard (like you can on the Epic), I am almost thinking about turning Swype off.
Anyone know of any easy way to switch back and forth without going into the settings?

There is an app that changes keyboards when in different orientations......I don't know if that helps. Forgot the name of it, but it is on xda.

To answer my own question, if you do a long-press in the text box where you want to type, it will give you pop up asking you to select Swype or Touch Input. Works great.
Where the hell is the one with the mic?

No problem downloading/running v 2.4.44.10912 on HTC EVO, Froyo 2.2.
As mentioned, no Mic.
Is there a version w/ Mic for EVO?
I found SlideIT to be ok and it has a mic predictability is between good and great.
Latest Swype Beta update has the Mic built in at last.

Heptic feedback.

Just wanted 2 ask if anyone else is having the same problem as me & if they've been able 2 fix it,please share how.I've been running Virtuos rom for a couple of weeks now & I'm loving it.The only prob i have is that even though i disabled the heptic feedback option,it still vibrates whenever i use the on screen keyboard(soft). Is there a workaround 4 this or is this just a bug in the build? Thx.
It should be in settings under language and keyboard. Just look for some settings on the htc keyboard.

Thx.
@ibemad1...Thx a mil, i could of sworn i checked that option.

[Q] Mytouch 3G Slide hardware keyboard question

Sorry if this has already been posted, but I need to know if there's a way to make the hardware keyboard light up again. I'm using a custom ROM(LegendtoSlide) and I really enjoy it, but the keyboard not working is something of a pain. Is there a file I can flash that will enable the keyboard again? Or a Legend ROM that enables the keyboard? Any help is much appreciated.
There is nothing that can be done until the developer updates the rom.

I still don't understand why people don't just hit the report button. Every time I've done this, a mod has moved it very quickly.

Well, I was [personally] unaware that the report button should be used for such purposes. But if you're having success with it (and not being scolded by XDA personnel) then I shall use it henceforth.

It might be a different froyo sense rom that I'm thinking of, but there should be SOMETHING implemented to manually turn on and off the light. I believe if you hold search and press L on the hardware keyboard it enables the light, but that might just be on 3rd sense. There is also an app in the market that can do this, called Backlight off! or something like that.

I've never had any problems with the stock keyboard, an alternative is Swype beta if you like Swyping or Swiftkey X if you like typing like normal.

Ace II (i8160) gesture keyboard not working.

Hello, i just flashed several roms in my Ace II because of the gesture keyboard not working.
I have made my searches, and found zero answer related to this, it seems no one is using gesture keyboard....
Now, on such small screen, having the gesture hability for writing saves a lot of time for me, and i think that anyone who would give it a try will keep it as primary way of writing.
The only rom in wich is working fine is in Slimrom 8.1 but i have found other complains for this one that are more important than the keyboard at the moment.
Is there any workaround?

I've been using it on the stock 4.1.2 ROM in this same phone and in 4.0.4 on Optimus 2x.
At store, there's no available google keyboard, already made the search.
BTW:
PAC rom has not working gesture keyboard, and is 4.2.2.
TeamCanjica, also is 4.2.2 and it has it not working either.
Rootbox, also is 4.2.2 and is not working.
On the contrary, SlimRom is 4.2.2 and it has it working.
I'm no expert but shouldn't this be in the "general" section? o.0
Google Keyboard (same as AOSP from 4.2.2) has gesture typing, SwiftKey has gesture typing and Swype has gesture typing. If one of those doesn't work you might wanna contact the app support directly. All I know is Google Keyboard and SwiftKey work perfect on stock and Cyanogenmod.
Google Keyboard is available for the Ace II. In fact I think it's compatible with ALL devices so I don't know why you're not finding it. I'd be certain it's likely to be something on your end.

It seems to be working, but only makes the trace and nothing is written.
Swiftkey and swype have their own drawbacks, both are really c..p finding and predicting words in anything than english, and i need it working fine in Spanish, there google keyboard is unbeatable.
Also, those both apps are paid, google is not only free, IT WORKS.

Nothing wrong in MY end, i've made the search inside the phone and directly with my computer browsing/searching play store, and it does not appear AT ALL.
I also checked some days ago with the Optimus 2x because i dislike the keyboard that came with a custom rom, nothing appeared... And also, both phones use different google account. (just in case)
So.. It seems that the keyboard may be been removed or is only available for older versions wich need update.
EDIT: Sorry... Sometimes you need to kill someone... I'll kill google...
Well, Google keyboard will NEVER appear for spanish... "Teclado de Google" does...
Really sorry... sometimes takes me some time stop thinking on english.
Anyway, it says is not compatible with ANY of my devices.... : wallbash:
Well it's definitely still there for me whatever ROM I'm using so i don't know what to tell you

No problem. Just extract archive, replace file in system/lib. Change permissions (rw-r-r) and reboot.
