[Q] Question on Rooting 4.0.A.2.368 - Xperia Arc Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This thread says you have to flash back to 3.0.A.2.184 Generic UK and perform OTA. Is it possible to flash to 3.0.A.2.181 Global Generic and perform OTA as well?
What is the difference between Generic UK and Global Generic?
Thanks

no you can't because i don't think ota update for .368 in global generic is available now. as far as i know. only hk/uk version have ota update.
as for the difference... i think its the amount of bloatware that differs. Not much difference i think. Not that sure=)

Rooting UK Generic 2.3.3

Just got an ARC today and want to know how I can root the phone but I wish for it to be UK generic and not global like in the tutorials. Is it possible?
im also confused,,i came from uk generic and guides provide me a generic world would that cause any conflict?when ill be flashing it back to generic world 181?
help please..
Uk here, I always flash global with no issues.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
I know there would be no issues with global but I would prefer to have it as UK since when upates come I would have the correct basebands and so on? Or is arc updates different to x10?

What is the latest firmware??

I've just bought myself an Xperia Play from O2 and have started gathering the information to root it and flash generic firmware to it as it currently has O2 branded firmware on it (not sure of the version as it's been put away for Christmas now ).
Am curious / confused as to what the latest generic firmware is and where it originates from e.g. UK, Nordic etc.
I've read there is a 4.0.A.2.368 generic UK firmware update which adds xLoud, landscape homescreen amongst other things and theres also the 4.0.2.A.58 version here on XDA. Which is the latest and better??
Thanks in advance for any help
I vote the .58 one

[Q] unlocked version - updates

Hey all,
A month ago I bought the M8 in NYC (unlocked, WWE).
I'm currently living abroad (middle east), and for some reason I don't get software updates.
I'm running the 1.12.422.19 version, and I know that there is an update (includes the extreme power saving mode),
but every I check for updates I get "there are no updates available for your phone".
Why is that?
Is there anything I can do about it?
Thanks!
Unlocked wwe is *.**.401.**. Never seen a 422 wwe......
401 is the European unbranded phone,1540 is the US unbranded phone, pretty sure 422 is that funny South American one that doesn't have any updates...could be wrong though
EDIT: Could be the Verizon build going by results when Google-ing 1.12.422.19...
Thanks guys!
So say I want my device to get updates (OTA), I should flash a 401 or 1540 firmware?
Should I change the CID (HTC_017) as well?
Thanks!

Can i flash the .200 firmware from this website onto my "generic LAM" international?

Can i flash the .200 firmware from this website onto my "generic LAM" international?
I have an "international" model that i believe is the LAM (Latin American Model) and i want to downgrade from .224 to .200 (for ivoryroott to backup DRM before bootloader unlocking) The only place i can find any .200 software is from the linked site below. I want to make sure its safe for me to follow this website and flash this firmware so has anyone used this website before? What gets me concerned is that at the end of the firmware file that you download to downgrade your phone, it has "_NCB" this makes me worry its for a particular model... I have plenty of experience with android and development but this is my first sony phone. Also, ive already checked XperiFirm and it doesnt have any software for any of our models BEFORE the .224 or .254 firmwares which i thought was weird.

Thank you guys for any help!
SOLVED: yes i can lol
Oh forgot to add that it is the 6853 model

VoLTE on Generic FW

Hi there.
I have a HTC 10 on generic 1.80.401.1 FW. The handset has been S-Offed to get it to this current generic FW.
I wanted to do this orginally to ensure I can get relatively quick updates if I needed to (able to flash any FW). But at the same time avoid using custom FW (my bank's online banking app doesnt like rooted phones).
I've spoken with my network provider- Vodafone AU about setting VOLTE. and it looks like my FW doesnt have the option to switch it on....(no Advanced calling section).
So, I'm not sure what my options are....
1, Flash a Vodafone AU FW and deal with slow updates?
2. Flash some other generic FW that CAN switch the right settings on? (help? )
3. Flash Custom rom with root and then try and fool the apps I have that dont like root? Also, any custom roms which definitely work with all VOLTE?
thanks for any assistance.

Im on Vodafone aswell debranded to same firmware as you. I dont think custom ROMS support vodafone aus volte. I know a few have a telstra option which gets volte working for them. Im pretty sure you cant just flash the vodafone firmware because its not a complete firmware package.

Hey mate, thanks for your input.
What do you mean not able to flash vodafone FW?
In there http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/stock-stock-collection-recovery-ruu-ota-t3359297
There is the following backup:
CID: HTC__039/OPTUS001/VODAP021/TELNZ001 | MID: 2PS620000
1.21.710.10 (by @TRLOS)
With the relevant OTAs to bring back to 1.80
Would that not work?

No as to my understanding firmwares from ota's are not full firmware packages. Thats is just a system.img backup you need the firmware aswell and the only firmware you will find is from ota's
