[Q] having problems someone please help..... - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i flashed cm7 to my phone and it will not let me sync my gmail account to my phone, it did not come with the market app either is there something I can do about this?

Sounds like you didn't flash gapps. Download this and flash in recovery. Wipe cache and dalvik-cache only, then flash and you will be set.

You need to flash gapps (Google apps). There's a link to the flashable zip on the CM site & probably the CM7 thread as well.

All theme.zips are getting a (bad) error in clockworkmod?

I figured this would fit in the themes section best, my mistake if it was better placed elsewhere. It seems that all the flashable theme zips I could find on here are coming up with a (bad) error in clockwork, anyone know why/how to fix it?
I'm running syndicate 1.02 with xtreme kernel 1.2

Seems like your downloads aren't complete. erase your prior downloads, wipe your cache/dalvik, re download the wanted theme and attempt to flash

How to install kernals? Link

Can someone please give me a link to how to install kernals?
Do they delete anything when installing? Sorry I would search but it doesn't work on my phones app sorry
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Kernels do not delete anything from your phone, all you do is flash like any rom, but just wipe cache and dalvic, and what type or kernel are you looking for? (AOSP or Sense)
I don't have a link but you just flash like a ROM. I would do a nand first just to be safe but they don't erase anything. Not in my experience anyway. I don't have a like right now but I think its stickied somewhere....

Yeah, download newest Gapps. Flash that. Pretty sure CM6 required flashing gapps too?

What is scary is the fact you can not figure out how to use the forums, and read directions. Yet you just flash things to your phone and will probably brick it as a result.

Flash the 20110307 GApps package. You can get them via three ways:
1) Download from http://goo-inside.me/gapps/latest/7/universal/
2) Open ROM Manager, re-download CM, and check the Google Apps add-on, then let RM re-flash them both.
3) Open ROM Manager, and at the bottom of the Download ROM list, is Google Apps. Just select the 20110307 (Recommended) package, and have RM flash them.
Ta-da!

baseband version aka modem? i think

hi guys,
alright some i'm new to this forum. i wouldnt consider myself that great at rooting and flashing etc but i'm getting the hang of it. been following qbking77 cuz he is like my god lol
anyway, i need to post at least 10 times before i can post on the thread that i wanna post on and i searched a little bit but cant seem to find what i'm looking for. and btw i have an Epic 4g.
ok, so ive noticed everyone saying i have CM10 or 9 and this and that and then they say they are on FC19 or El22 etc. I want to know how do i update/change that stuff, what my options are, and what would those benefits be?
i'm currently running CM10 build 9/14 by nightlies on stock FC09. will be going to the most recent build soon but want to maybe play with the baseband version. thanks guys.
You are correct. It is the baseband aka modem software on your phone. There is a thread in development that allows you to flash with clockwork mod and another thread that has you changing modems with Odin.

Since you're on CM10, your first stop should be this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30433583
Should give you better service/speed than any Epic modem.

Ok. I'm a noob. I'm on stock fc09. So if I go to that link what modem would that put me at? And I'm assuming flashing means all you do is go to recovery mode and install zip from sd card, correct?

That will put you on the Nexus 4G modem. Most have reported great results.
And yes, boot to recovery, wipe cache and dalvik, and flash away.

i think i got it now. we'll see if it works. i followed the steps from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1848010
i wiped cache and then dalvik and then i rebooted recovery and flashed the modem and then the rom and its working but now it says baseband version unknown. what does that mean?

The modem package includes a modified kernel. You must flash the ROM first, or its included kernel won't recognize the Nexus modem.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
it keeps failing. i downloaded this: http://darkierawr.com/Android/Users/xboxfanj/nexusmodempatchcm10prevAIO.zip
was that the right one?
I'm pretty sure my baseband said unknown for the first hour or so before it showed the modem version
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
the only way i could get that file to install was if i did it before the CM10 rom. when i do it after it fails. so i wiped cache and dalvik again and just installed CM10 and now i still have unknown baseband version. what do i do? will i have to do a data reset?
Try mounting system and data in recovery.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
i accidently wiped date, then cache, then dalvik, mounted system and then mounted data. flashed CM10 and then tried the modem and it still failed.
nevermind! i accidently mounted sd card instead of system. wiped everything rebooted recovery, mounted system and data and installed both zips. booting up now. taking a while for the animation tho....

Gapps for 4.2.2

Just updated to the 10.1 thru the cm updater. Loving it. Can't use the gapps tho. I know I need to download them and put it on my sd card but can someone remind me how to install it? Wipe data and calvik and flash nightly and gapps? I'm not the best at this lol also I don't have the option to reboot to recovery which sucks cuz that was convenient. Much help is appreciated. Thanks guys

For that reboot to recovery option activate Developer Options by going to System Setting > About Phone > Build Number and tap on Build Number 7 times.
there's a cool little trick lol awesome. And just to triple check, wipe data and dalvik before I flash right?

You always have better results with a clean install so yes, wipe both data and cache. Make sure you have the ROM and gapps on your sd card first, then wipe all three (data, cache, and dalvik cache) then flash ROM and immediately after flashing the ROM flash gapps, reboot and enjoy.
There's new official 4.2.2 gapps on goo.im
