Its on my sd card. Its starting to take a ridiculous amount of space already; about 2gb worth. I've had to delete adventure time and nova2 on my phone just to make space. I tried to delete the files, but it corrupts my sdcard. What is it and how do I get rid of it?

I think this is what those backups are referring to take a look http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1028405
The back ups are created when you use the superwipe.zip in recovery

Thanks for the replies, I didn't think anyone checked q/a anymore xD are they safe to delete though? Last time I deleted a batch of these, my sdcard read corrupted, and it took me a while to get my phone working again.

yeah you can do that but some ROMs are optimized to work with ext2 partitions for A2SD.
swap size can be optional as its functions as bootleg RAM.

That is the correct way.... You set the swap and partition sizes to 0 and you are good to go, but as always, back up to your computer first.....

Just fyi, I was trying to do the same thing yesterday. I unmounted the sd card via the phone setting, and formated the sd card from within the phone (not plugged into the computer...all phone here), and it deleted the partition.
Guys how can I recover the space I loose with partioning?
I formatted my SD and went back to 7.38 gb
and if I enter to Titanium Backup it says 7.93

There are programs you can run off your pc that will recover any lost space. I saw them mentioned in the kingdom or Genger thread recently.

I did the Amon RA AND turned setting to 0 but it gives me 7.40 gb. Then when I installed a rom and go to titanium backup it says that my Sd has 7.93 gb.
So the is something missing hear...

you can unpartition in unbuntu. as far as windows I dont know.
You buy your card on ebay? sometimes they give probs like that. (not giving full memory) you never get all the memory teir rated at but when its excessive theyres a problem

I don't have a direct link for you, but what your saying is exactly what the guy in the other thread mentioned. Except he was missing like over a gb I think. Someone referenced a program you can run, that will "recover" that space you seem to have lost after "unpartitioning" your card.

Hi guys,
I 've put CM10 on my daughters HTC Desire and in general it runs ok.
The problem is, she keeps getting a 'message memory full' warning.
She has deleted almost all her messages to try and stop it.with no joy.
Is there a known fix for this please or am I missing something obvious.
There seems to be a limit to how much you can make go to the SD card. (apps etc)
She has a 16Gb SD card, no partition.
If I can supply any more info, let me know.
Thanks

Why do you need a partition.....what do you use it for?
How do you direct things to it?
First of all sorry if this issue has already been addressed, I looked around could not find much on this issue, anyways I have been running deathstalker s3 for a while, I decided to try deathstalker s4 , it installed okay but the phone kept force closing any system app I tried to run , I reverted back to deathstalker s3 and my phone constantly displays low storage and says 330mb of free space, but in the settings > storage, it displays a lot of free space in the bar graph but none of it is useable, once again sorry if this has already been asked, any suggestions in the right direction would be helpful

I would format the external sd and the internal sd and do a complete wipe and re download the rom to your external sd and flash the newly download ed rom

Do you have any nandroid backup stored on the phone? Those take up lots of spaces. If not you might need to do a format as suggested.

What are some things I could delete or move to SD to get more internal memory. I am running liquid smooth ROM. I know there used to be an apps to SD option through titanium backup but I don't see it anymore.

Use folder mount to move big files to ex card. This phone does not have option yet to move apps to sd unless you use a rom from another carrier on it.

This!
The easy bet is that it is your rom backups. That has been the answer for all 900 other people who have made this same thread.
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
That's why you always save backups on the ex card. Never save them on internal sd.

I always search before making a post. Haven't started too many posts... Sorry I couldn't find the answer :/ but thank you other guys for the help. I wasn't sure if backups could go to SD because of them being through cwm. But yes I knew they were taking a lot of my memory away.

Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda app-developers app
To get back ups to sd, first you search your recovery since they are not all created equal. On cwm I know you have the option right after you select backup and restore. It is a few selections down. Not sure on twrp, Im sure its easily spotted though.
Figured out how to back up to SD. Thanks for the help!

Check your entire SD card with a file manager. You've got something big on there.

I Think I see an issue. on my system folder I have two files in the storage folder named "Emulated" and "sdcard0" . They have the same thing in each one, about 3.40GB. Is this a normal file format for android?
From what I've gathered it's not actually there twice, it's just a reflection, so to speak, of your user data. It's a feature implemented for muti-user setups.

Already posted a thread about this........
The HTC One is formatted different than a typical external sd card (FAT). Because it is formatted differently, USB mass storage does not show up on our computers. Use adb to push files. Check your storage space on the phone.
I have 10.08GB used in other with no backups. Just the way the phone came.
Thanks Guy's, just wanted to be sure it wasn't something I did while running Rumrunner or doing my first recovery.

after I uninstalled play music and magazines my other storage dropped to below 10GB and gave me 17 GB free.

This is def a bug, and I might have a fix... Here's how I came to this...
On soff day one I soffed, immediately I installed cwm recovery, and first thing I did was do a backup... Restarted my phone, and immediately got the less than 10 GB left...right after that I wiped and i installed mokee, and still had storage issues... Then I deleted the factory backup and did a nother fresh backup from recovery... Poof all my space is back... Check the size of your factory backup, bet its huge... Take it off your phone and stash it on your PC if you wanna save it...
This is where backups are stored
