[Q] Is CM7 nightly good choice for AOSP rom - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

hey everyone, I just came from the dinc (died on me) and my insurance gave me the dinc 2 and i am looking to get it back to what i had before. on the dinc i was using cm7 as I thought is was the better of the aosp's now i come to the dinc2 and it is still in nightly phase so I ask what aosp would you recommend?
tl:dr CM7 as senseless rom or is there a more stable one? OMGB for example

Actually, the CM7 nightlies are doing quite well. It won't be long before you see an RC, that's for sure. I tried running CM7 with the Tiamat kernel and got amazing results, but I was never a fan of barebones AOSP.

Cm7 is really good. I haven't loaded the last few nightlies because there haven't been any changes. I'm using JDkernel as I had some crashes with Tiamat. On my device JD is stable to the top setting of 1920mhz, although my quadrant scores don't improve over 1593mhz.

Definitely more than good enough for your daily driver. I rooted 4? days ago and have been running the last few nightlies and have had zero issues.
I too came from the Odinc and CM7 is as good here as it was there so far.

CM7 is my favorite because its options, it's polished, stock kernel is flexible and gets me to ~1500mHz with outstanding battery life. The key is it delivers superior performance and battery life while being "stock" CM. I'm referring to the nightlies throughout.
I am a little bummed to see the nightly updates seemed to have stalled a bit since CyanogenMod (the Man) was signed at Samsung. http://cm-nightlies.appspot.com/?device=vivow

Thanks for the info guys, now can I ask, how are you getting those numbers with OC-ing and what are you using to adjust the frequency?

another satisfied CM7 customer here...I've been running the nightlies for the greater part of a month (with the Tiamat kenel) and I couldn't be happier
you can set CPU frequency within CM7 settings, for more detailed control you'll need something like SetCPU

[Q] what do YOU think is the most stable ROM and Kernal?

Hello all-
I LOVE trying out roms and kernals, and I am growing tired of every rom and kernal stating "stable, fast, totally awesome, etc" I know there are some awesome roms and kernals out there but I wanted to know what YOU believe is the fastest and/or most stable ROM and kernal out there?
Skyraider 3.5 with any of lou's kernels from 6 onwards.
Simple. The latest cm7 nightly.

No, nightlies by definition are not stable. they are experimental builds. many things break in the nightlies.
not being difficult but this thread definitely does not belong in the dev section. this should be in the general or q&a section.
doesnt mean it isnt stable for him..
Myns roms are always stable for me

I agree it belongs in Q&A, but I stand by my response. I believe it is the most stable ROM at this point in time for Inc no matter what the "definition" is.
OP check it out. Are you on a SLCD or AMOLED?

i have had a few issues on cm7. the latest one was on #19 - i lost mobile network data connectivity. also check the CM7 & Protekk threads. there have been gps issues on the protekk #10 build too. this thing is far from stable. the most stable roms I ever used were:
1. the verizon stock build
2. virtuous
3. redemption
4. skyraider
However, I choose to not run any of those because they are too simple I am a rom philanderer and cm7 and the desire z and other roms I use are full of features I want. Stability is overrated IMHO. Thats my opinion.

Well said. I wouldn't know how stable the verizon stock build is as of late. The one I had when I got the phone in April 2010 was not even close to stable.
Virtuous was my 1st rooted ROM it was fantastically stable
Redemption was excellent as well for stability although mms was hit and miss sometimes as well as theming breaking optimizations at times.
Never ran SR long enough to judge for myself.
Funny about the gps issue. I just tested this right now and if you don't leave it on, which a lot of people do, there is a re-acquiring satellite issue until a reboot. This is the 1st bump I've hit with nightly 17, and although I'll never see it as I leave gps on it is a bump. Thanks for pointing it out!

My choice is Warm Z 2.2, which, even though I am using the Re-Engineered Nightlies, it is still very stable and extremely snappy with Hydra’s Stock speed undervolted kernel, to mention incredible (yes, pun intended) battery life, even with the pile of dog crap that is the stock battery.

had to laugh at the dog crap battery comment - thunderbolt is just 1400 mah stock battery. wonder what will happen to that one!

Thanks, the last verizon build (that was deodexed and posted in nov i think) was stable. Not sure whether I had a bad download but I had data network issues with #19 too. I also did not notice the GPS issue (since I leave it on) until I read about it.
I love me some myn 2. 2 rsl 4. Ziggy mightyrom #3 (stock rom kernel).
CM7 nightly's have been my daily driver.
CM7 nightly
Been using protekks cm7 daily builds im currently on #8 with invisiblek and life has been sweet!! incredikernel was nice outside of the fact it made my phone get warm when it was charging.

HTC DINC
CyanogenMod 7 By Protekk
Invisiblekk 2.6.37.2
Currently Testing Radio 09.01
ADW Launcher EX
Magnolia with Ziggy's CFS HAVS kernel has been treating me quite nicely! Very stable even at overclocked speeds like 1.15. It's smooth, but not the fastest ROM out there. CM6 is pretty stable too with stock kernel, and very snappy!
I think CM7 has the most promise, but for stability I would say that the SkyRaider ROMs were always the most stable. I tried Myns but I had a few problems and returned to SkyRaider Athena.
OMFGB 1.1.1 with Invisiblek's latest GB kernel. I get 200+ uptime without any slow downs, I end up rebooting for an updated kernel. I got one FC on the Rom since I installed it and it was for LauncherPro
If you want stability you need to stick with HTC Sense and a good solid kernel like chad's incredikernel.
AOSP ROM's have a tendency to not be nearly as stable, although they can run faster and have some other features you mind find interesting.
A top choice for a Sense ROM is SkyRaider 3.5
AOSP as you can see, CM7 is a lot of people's first choice- but it is not as stable as most sense ROM's but I wouldn't call it unstable either.

Best AOSP Rom

I've been looking at new roms recently. Currently I'm on redemptive rEVOlution, the senseless version with launcher pro. Any recommendations on what the best roms out there are right now? It doesn't have to be aosp likle CM7 or whatever, I'm just looking for one of the speediest and most stable roms out there.
Gonna have to go with CM.
CM yeah, but which one? Is there a specific nightly build, a final version, release candidate that I should be looking for?
CM 7.0 is stable, but 7.1 is in RC right now so it's pretty good. CyanogenMod has a lot of nice little addons that become hard to live without, like quiet hours or the pull down toggles. Other roms have incorporated some of these things, but not necessarily all of them.
I'm running CyanogenMod 7.1 nightly 129 right now and it is running great. I haven't found another ROM that works 100% like Cyanogen, although I haven't tried anything Froyo on the Incredible.
Back on the Eris we had a few guys that would take the latest CM nightly and apply all sorts of little fixes and kernels and tweaks. Even though the Incredible is an official CM release, it would be nice if we had something like this here too.
definitely check out miui... It is really stable, smooth, has great battery life and lots of good features..
I am a big fan of OMFGB. The nightlies out now for 1.3 are very stable. It's 2.3.4 and the devs threw in a small twist for customization options but its very close to stock. It was good enough to switch me off of my sense based rom just because I am a big time optimization junkie. CM7 just did not appease me.
MIUI is, in my opinion, the best of all i've tried so far. i flashed every nightly from cyanogen up to around 100, then tried MIUI. and haven't even thought of going back. it's that good! my battery life went up, way up. you can customize it to your wit's end, and there's still room for more. so CM, or MIUI, you cannot go wrong. use the dual boot app that's floating around here, and you can have them both, basically..
Definitely quite happy with MIUI.
Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
+ another 1 for MIUI. Customization City!
I have found the CM7.1, RC1 and MIUI are the most stable and have very good battery life with juice defender and Chad's incredikernel. I also like OMFGB and Evervolv roms, but the battery life was not as good. I use them all with DualRom X2. I think in the end, it is a matter of personal preference.
OMFGB hands down. no senseless menu digging for clock speeds, no unstability (for me) nand amazing battery life undervolted on chads betas
The MIUI Pure English ROM is hands down the best one, I have tried many Roms from froyo and sense but none hold a candle to the MIUI. There are so many things to customize, battery life is excellent and so far no force close, lags or shutdowns. Provided is a link to the thread, check it out.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...m.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117981
So far I have had the best luck with CM7, have yet to find anything else with as much customizability, speed, and battery life build into one package.

I loved the rEVo roms, but alas I have settled on CM7 as well. Can't speak for the MIUI roms haven't tried them. CM roms are usually up to date, and problems are addressed very quickly. I'm a big fan of Sense, but unfortunatley I have yet to find one that works well with the new versions.
Miui all the way
MIUI is the best thing that ever happend to my incredible
MIUI is nice, it really is but its interface is soo different. its as if an iphone and an incredible had an illegitamate child and it was raised by htc sense. its really a stock vs features argument there.
I would say ultimate droid, but development has stopped because the dev was affected by storms, so I'll have to say omfgb.

looks as though, according to THIS thread, MIUI is the most popular. and yeah, i may be a little biased...

[Q] Most stable ROM?

I'm interested in gathering opinions about which ROM i should try out first. I'm on a bit of a slow connection here so downloading can take a bit and there are quite a few rom's listed so i'm not sure where to start.
I've been thinking of trying out Open Kang. Any thoughts on it? I've primarily used CM in the past but I'm looking for something closer to stock with minor improvements and tweaks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1402341
I'd recommend that!
I've been using it ever since I rooted my phone!
Battery life is quite nice, and in his ROM control you can play around with a whole bunch of settings.
Plus his nightlies are fairly often
I use bigxies rom, now 'apex 1.0' with francos kernel and its stable and fast. I tried open kang but i went back to bigxies. I don't now why, but i like bigxies rom more.
Tranquil ice had horrible battery and reboots for me, miui was sloooowww and buggy; it was v4 btw, now I'm on gummy next .66 outstanding so far

I'm using this one since a while and it works very well. Reminds me a lot on CM.
I'll stay with this one until the CM nightlies are coming.
But I reckon if you want to use something which is closer to stock you shouldn't use this one. However some of the features are really cool. For example the possibility to change the order of the soft buttons.
Like Open Kang but Manhattan IC102 got more custom settings and using that one. Both good stable ROMs with good battery life
Android revolution HD is my fav

Manhattan, AOKP, Apex and gummynex are all very similiar and equally stable. CM and vicious are too buggy for now imho.
I prefer aokp over apex.
I use ARHD 2.1.4
very good and stable. maybe slower in update than others, though
rootzboat v7.1 hands down!
Since you have a nexus, build from source. You'll have the stablest rom then.
I've change rom
To Apex, by bigxie, with OCUV, best battery and speed ever

[Q] Going back to Gingerbread.

I'm finding that the ICS roms have just a tad more quirks/bugs than I'd be able to deal with on a daily (being that the phone is primarily my business line too, lulz!)
I'd like to know what your guys thoughts are on the most active/stable GB roms are for the Vision/G2/Desire Z.
I loved Bulletproof MIUI but it's no longer being actively maintained. Are there any well maintained MIUI roms, or are should I go straight to ILWT?
I am staying away from roms like mexDroidMod because being that I'm in the design/UI business- I could honestly say no matter how well that rom performs, it is an eyesore to look at (nothing personal if you like the way it looks). Keeping that in mind, I'd rather not install that rom and play with theming. Just looking for a good out of the box well featured/stable/snappy GB rom.
Everyone has their own prefrense, mine is also gingerbread for now. I've used 15 to 20 diffrent roms and difrrent versions of a few. The one I keep going back to is elitemod, it hasn't been updated for a few months now but is still my favorite rom. Used 3 or so versions of ilwt and I do like the new aroma installer he uses but I still find I like elitemdod better. If you don't want to try many this is what I recommend but only tial will tell you your preference
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
I would say ILWT or CM7 for performance and stability. But if you want something that looks a little bit better, you should try to find a good Sense 2 ROM (sorry, i've tried a lot of ROM but none with Sense 2 ).
Latest cyanogen nightly or release candidate.
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
Anything CyanogenMod based.
Try CM7.2 RC1, it is absolutely amazing once you match .so files with the latest radio, doing that makes the battery life on it be quite ridiculously good. It is super fast and, it gives you heaps of tweaks to choose from. I couldn't recommend any other AOSP ROM right now. Anything CM7 will serve you well . The only issue i had with CM7.2 RC1 was that every now and then, there would be this lag that would start up, which would make the phone feel like it was running at 245mhz. There was an easy way to fix that though, switching the overclocking governor to something else and then back to interactive would fix that lag immediately. Other than that, CM7 is very stable where it is now.
Otherwise, try going with Virtuous Sense 2.0. I was using AOSP ROMs for months, but now that i tried Virtuous Sense 2.0 again, i'm very happy with its speed and stability and the features of Sense 2.1. In addition to that, it is absolutely, 100% stable, with no glitches at all.
Oh and since you're looking for a well maintained MIUI ROM, look at Strawmetal.MI. People seem to love his ROMs and they seem to work very well.
I installed elitemode a few days ago and haven't switched back. This rom is awesome and I'm geting great battery life under heavy use... 10+ hrs. Never happend before. Love it..

[Q] Your favorite daily ROM?

hi evo owners, my girlfriend has an evo 4g and she is always complaining about how slow it is and how fast her battery drains. (she's a pretty heavy user)
so i come to you guys for help..
which ROMs are you running that are showing the best battery life i can get out this thing and are they stable for day to day use. (being as its not my phone and she knows nothing about rooting. i wont be able to follow updates as ofter as i do on my GSII)
Im just looking for a great stable build with the best battery battery life.
any and all input is really appreciated, thanks

Swagged out stock is a clean fast Sense 1.0 rom that i've been using for months. There's a lot you can customize so you can get some better battery life. In general, the stock battery is what it is.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258932
I like any of the sense 1.0 roms for quickness, battery and responsiveness. Classic rom, Digital Karma, Nitrous. U use Set CPU and make a profile for screen off. Use power save governor if kernel allows so while locked it will only run at lowest speed. This is helpful on any from though. Hope this helps.
I feel more like I do now then I did then.
I've been jumping back in and forth with JMZ's CM9 ROM and Cyanogenmod's CM7. I never had a Sense phone, so this was my first. After being with the OG Samsung Moment for about 3 years, until the developers fled, I was so used the classic UI. When I was introduced to Sense, I never stuck on to me. Luckily, I barely got this phone this year, meaning most CM7 ROMs were stable with ICS at hand. If you a Sense guy, I would recommend the Classic ROM or the Nitrous ROM. Nitrous gives more of the original Sense experience, but the Classic ROM gives really impressive battery life. It has a lot of available tweaks to play with. My ONLY problem with the ROM is the boot sound LMAO. I never thought i could hear my phone be that loud.
I, too, am running jmz unofficial cm9, & it's great for me but maybe not for her. The issue with battery life, however, is not the ROM; it's more likely the screen & radios that are killing it. My solution has been two-part: using Juice Defender to customize data activity, & larger aftermarket batteries (ChiChiTec - Amazon).
ive been using most of decks roms lately, but if i had to choose a reliable rom it would be synergy. its a little outdated but everything works.
Digitalkarma v7 fast smooth and everything works
