Free keyboard and mouse now for existing owners - Xoom Accessories

This offer is now for current Xoom owners up until 31st of Aug. You need to visit this from your Xoom browser. This does not appear to work on custom roms, I had to go back to a backup of 3.0.1 and then it worked.

UK and Ireland only.
Cheers.

Is this uk only?

Yeah, UK and Ireland I think.

Lucky UK and Ireland owners then lol
damn

The site needs to 'see' the UA string of the UK build of Xoom software. So if your browser presents another UA, you won't see the registration form. You can register using a desktop browser if you can present custom UAs. I did that using Firefox and an Add-On, but others (Opera?) can do it natively. I remember seeing the UA string on xoomforums.com somewhere. Think it was in their thread on the same topic.

If only I could get this in the US...

UK UA String
Here is the UA String:
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 3.0.1; en-gb; MZ601 Build/H.6.1-38) AppleWebKit/534.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Safari/534.13
Source: http://www.hotukdeals.com/freebies/only-for-motorola-xoom-owners-free-keyboard-mouse/997188

It's nice to have the UA string, but you're still limited to UK and Ireland Postal Codes and addresses. You're better off buying it here vs filling out the form for a relatives' or a friends' address and having it shipped to North America.

UK/Ireland if you bought it from a certain place, I got mine via work so came from elsewhere

does anyone know if there's a way to do it without your receipt? Not sure what's happened to mine, been a long time since I bought the bloody thing!!

You need the device's serial # AND the receipt... and they'll only accept receipts from amazon.co.uk, Currys, Comet, Carphone Warehouse, or John Lewis. As for me, I do have friends in the UK whose address I could use for this, but I don't really want to go googling for some receipt (one could probably find one) - you don't know how seriously Moto UK takes this kind of 'cheating', to put it mildly. Technically it would be forgery, and it's not something I want to subject my friends to. I don't need a keyboard or mouse THAT badly.
By the way, what's the purpose of a keyboard and mouse for the Xoom, anyway? Wouldn't one be much better off with a standard-issue laptop rather than carrying 3 different pieces of hardware around all the time? lol.

Apparently this promotion is extended until the end september!!!#

Not entirely true. They only have those on the web but I chose currys from the dropdown list but uploaded a jpg screenshot of my email order confirmation from Dixons and I've just had an email saying my application was approved! Keyboard and mouse on the way. Awesome. Would never have known if it wasn't for this place!
Sent from my Xoom using Tapatalk

Me too I purchased my Xoom from best buy last friday and took a picture of the reciept and sent that off I chose currys in the drop down menu as well. I have had confirmation that my application has been approved.

Wish I lived in the UK or Ireland right about now...

The keyboard and mouse are so helpful if you are trying to write something with a bit of length to it or need to do extensive editing. The mouse alone is useful as the cursor is fine in its selection ability...for those of us with fat fingers, lol.

I totally agree about the keyboard... a touchscreen keyboard will never be as good as a physical one. I've been sticking to BB for years for that very reason. But I guess in this context, it depends on what you're using the xoom for. I don't really use it at home or in the office because I use the PC there. I only use my xoom when on the road, when on a meeting with a client or so, for casual surfing, and for checking up on email when I'm not on a comp... I'll always prefer a physical keyboard over a touch screen, but I'd never dream of connecting one to the xoom because for me, that would defeat the purpose of a tablet - having a somewhat compact device that allows me to stay connected without dragging a 30 kg bag full of electronics, peripherals, cables, and adapters around with me. That's what I've been doing before I got the xoom
So in essence, I really guess it depends on the purpose and how you're using your tablet.

So, why is the number linked to a different business name, that also "sells phones"? - although there was a positive review- though it could be BS...-
hate to be so salty, but I straight up emailed the guy and said that if a successful transaction were to take place, I was certain I could send more buisness his way-thinking of everyone here of course. More specifically, if someone on XDA said they bought a TP2 from this site, I would be much more inclined. Any research anyone else can do to verify/disqualify this place would be great.
all those lil sites are bull!! I emailed back and forth with some guy from 1 of these sites, I asked him 2 send me a pic of the phone and I would buy it. The no count Ass**** sent me a pic of a TOUCH PRO!!! and 1 of those factory pics u can get on any site, unbelievable...

[UK] Free wireless keyboard for July buyers...

Just saw this offer. Looks like you buy (or bought) a Xoom in July, Moto will give you a kbd and mouse.
http://www.pcr-online.biz/news/36622/Free-wireless-keyboard-and-mouse-for-Motorola-Xoom-owners
I bought mine in July, but it seems this deal is for those in the UK ONLY.
Updated the Subject to reflect that.
Does anybody happen to have a note of the UK Xoom's original UAString?
I've already applied the US image to mine, and so the site doesn't register my Xoom as bought in the UK anymore.
Did anyone received it yet?

For those UK Xoom owners running the US firmware that wish to apply for the free keyboard/mouse but can't due to the web site not recognising your Xoom, try the following..
Install 'Dolphin Browser HD' from the Android Market, run it, then browse to this post and copy the text below (without quotes).
"Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 3.0; en-gb; Xoom Build/EVRSU_U5_0.48.0) AppleWebKit/534.13 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Safari/534.13"
Now hit the menu/settings button at the bottom then choose 'More' then 'Settings' then 'Dolphin settings' and finally 'User Agent'.
From the list choose 'Custom' then paste the text you copied earlier into the box. Hit OK then the back button to close the settings window.
If that all went well you should now be able to browse to http://www.motorolaxoompromotion.co.uk/ and fill the form in.
recieved mine today really nice quality , however you do need 3.1 in oder to use the mouse as it is recocgnised but does not connect on 3.01 ironic really as you can only use half the promotion on a 3G version.
keybpoard has some nice shortcuts and does feel nice when typed on its also full size though no numpad obvoiusly.
fantastic for free i say.
btw it took 3 days from submitting the reciept to recieving it very very quick
does turn the xoom into a kind a laptop which is cool the kb is very easy to type on and the mouse is very quick and responsive but i stress it cannot be used on the stock 3.01 (the mouse)
one day when we recieve the official update officially everything will be perfect
well I bought mine in march, didnt know the offer was only for xooms bought in July until I had filled in the form (using FF with a modded string)
Had an email yesterday saying it had been dispatched. missed delivery today ;-)
going to pick it up tomorrow
guys i have a xoom which i bought and it looks like uk version, when i try to enter the serial number at the website, which opens normally without anything, it gives me an error with the serial number, tried writting it in capital same thing, what could be wrong
if the website opens normally without any issues, and i have no updates after 3.0.1 i guess its uk for sure right

thanks , gave it a go even though i got mine in April (-;

Yup, given mine a go even though I pre-ordered it. I think it stinks quite frankly that for a device like this, the remit for free accessories based on orders is only for the month of July. Considering the bloody device has only been out in the UK since April, it's not that large a period to expand to!
I'm going to kick up one hell of a fuss. I don't normally care...it's one thing to expect to pay over the odds for early adoption, it's yet another to understand a price decrease apst a certain date, but to offer incentives at this level for people to purchase Xooms for this one month I believe, stinks!
..I think that's the intention but it does say somewhere that there will be 'limited' numbers of keyboards available from buyers before July?
I've registered, although the only proof of purchase I could find from PCWorld was an email confirmation of my order - not sure if that's OK or not?
We'll have to wait and see what happens??
Does anyone know how you get to find out whether you are going to receive the free keyboard or not?
you'll get a confirmation from brightspot on the email you registered with...
Funnily enough.. I bought mine on the 29th June... I scanned my receipt and photoshopped the date to the 1st of july...

I'm guessing that if you don't get an "added to shipping list" email a day or so after registering, then you are probably not going to get one. I was a bit dim, not to paintshop pro the PC world email notification date, I guess to honest/stupid to think of this. :-(
It's awkward with ordering off PC world as I don't remember getting a proper receipt? Just a few emails and a packing invoice and that's it.
At least I haven't received an email requesting another receipt, although having pre-ordered in April, my registration might have just been deemed void?
Oh well if don't get a freebie, I'll just have to buy one!

1saleaday Lapdocks (Again) ~$60

For anyone still looking to snag one, http://1saleaday.com/ has the lapdock for sale again. $54.99, plus what I would imagine is their standard $5 shipping.
Edit---------
As mentioned by pre4speed, they decreased the rice by $5. Curious -- I have never seen them do that on their site before.
When will these sales be available outside the US ?
NM...............n00b moment!
Just received mine today. Opened it up to discover it has a UK keyboard... ಠ_ಠ
Ill get mine tomorrow and let you know whether mine is uk as well, hope we didnt get fooled
Yea, sure hope this wasn't a common thing. Emailed support though. I don't recall seeing anything in the description about it being a UK version.
It doesn't affect too much on the layout, but it is a bit annoying. I'll post back if/when I get a response from them.
yup uk keyboard
Good News
Well, I have good news. It would seem that they are accepting returns on the webtops with a UK keyboard. The email seems like it might be just a script/automated message, but it should work.
I received the following email:

Thank you for contacting 1saleaday,
I am truly sorry to hear that you have encountered a problem with your order.
Please feel free to send the order back for a replacement.
Your order number serves as your RMA number.
To ensure a quick return process, please be sure to fill out the Return Request form (link provided below) and send it back with your package. Forms without order numbers and purchase dates can take 14 extra business days to process. If you are unsure of your order number or the date of your purchase, please let me know and I will provide that information for you.
Please send your package to:
XXX_Not sure if they want this out there_XXX
For future reference, please be sure to retain your return tracking number as it may be needed to expedite the return process.
I would recommend using a shipping carrier that provides tracking.
Thank you,
XXXXXXXX
sup guys got mine today, using it now. Didn't even notice the keyboard thing till i saw this thread.(smh..it said it on the box) look like its a common thing. other than the "@" and "2" functions being switch around everything is good. i think i'm going to stick out and don't bother trying to get a exchange plus itook the stickers of already (feel like the uk version is probably the only one they have)
Yea, that's what worries me. Also, it's not going to be exactly cheap to send a box of that size that weighs 5 lbs. I think I'm going to reply back to them to make sure I'm not going to waste time & money on getting the same thing.

Got another email from them. It seems that upon request, they will provide shipping labels. So if you were debating it on the fact that shipping it back will cost you, just send support an email.
thanks but was mostly worried about them not having the us keyboard version(which Im started to believe is the case) and making me send it back for no reason. After 3 days im loving this thing and can wait for ICS update w webtop 3.0
onesaleaday has it on sale again (via Newegg.com). looks like model #9SIA0MC0B56334. can someone that has received one check the model number so that it can be confirmed if US or UK layout. Looks like the "other model 3 is 9SIA0MC0932943. I went ahead and put it on order, but might cancel if someone confirms this is not US model. I think it is not, as the latter model # is out of stock.
while trying to find out which KB this has, I found another link from 1saleaday to http://bensoutlet.com/products/motorola-lapdock-atrix-4g they also list it @ $59.99.
also I sent an email to 1saleaday asking them to confirm which KB for item on sale.
update sent email requesting info on keybrd in stock. It was forwarded to someone else who replied asking what i wanted (request was in email she was forwarded, and in turn responded to me on). Final response was "We can not guarantee that the keyboard will be either US or UK". I will not do biz with these folks after dealing with them and also from reading all the probs other folks had with their service.
Yea, they gave me the same thing when I sent mine back. We can't guarantee that there are US keyboard ones in stock. Got a refund, and I don't think I will be ordering from them any time soon.
Just head to ebay or Amazon. Surely a few more dollars to guarantee a US keyboard is worth it. As for me, I'm going to hold off until webtop 3.0 comes to purchase a new one.
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app
Oh you guys had me scared. I did end up getting a UK keyboard version, but that's just the labels on the keys. Shift + 2 still gets me @ instead of ", for example. So unless you intend to use the lapdock for learning how to type, it won't be a problem.

TYping on mine now ! - Arrived about an hour ago. Not as good as the Transformer Prime keyboard is my first impression, but it does keep the tab at a nice angle. Need to find away to stop the soft keyboard popping up though, thats really annoying.

Where are you located, and what's that store's ETA for delivery? From what I can tell on their website, they're located in the UK. I'm hoping for a US supplier of the keyboard so I don't have to wait a month and pay 2x the keyboard price to have it shipped.

It might well be worth waiting for a keyboard from the US which will have a familiar layout, rather than having to deal with the different layout of Keys on a UK spec one - take it from someone who has to use Swiss-German at work and UK at home :-&

you can probably adjust the Settings>Language and input to appropriate language - I did this on my apple keyboard, I think the @ and " keys were mixed, fixed when I switched from Australia to USA input.

Not if you enter any secure data. Bluetooth keyboards are banned at my employer because all of your keyboard input can be easily sniffed from a surprisingly long distance away. Plus, I don't want more batteries to worry about. The Samsung keyboard dock lets you charge while using the keyboard. I hope to hack it up a bit and embed a USB hub into it as well.

Samsung keyboard dock?

Does anyone have or heard of any information on the keyboard dock? I imagined that it would have been released by now.
Perhaps they are holding back on it, because I heard Samsung is going to be making another big announcement in October. No word from the press on what it could be.

It is currently available in the UK with a UK keyboard layout. I contacted Samsung Support a few days ago to ask about the release of the US keyboard, and all they could tell me was that it is "coming soon". No ETA, no part number, nothing else at all. I told them to pass on to that product team that it was a "high priority" for customers.
man wish they would hurry it up already....cant wait
Yes, it would be nice if they let it out. I mean, this is ridiculous to release the product without its accessories. I want to use the tablet as a laptop when I travel instead of the heavy laptop I have now.

Do you know where the UK layout is available? I've found a few but I'm rather curious if you know a link to it.
I picked up my one yesterday at the Amsterdam airport. It was about 59 euros I belive.... now I just need a case to transport the note 10.1 and the keyboard safley.
The N8000 version is $64.

Interesting, I just did another round of Googling for the keyboard dock and it looks like more variants are slowly trickling out. So far, I've found the following models. I've shared links where you can see the differing key layouts. It *looks* like the Hong Kong version has a US key layout, but I can find nowhere on the globe to buy it (well, nowhere I can read at least. I am not fluent in Cantonese).
Hong Kong, EKD-K14AWEGTGY (link)
Australia, EKD-K14AWEGSTD (link)
UK, EKD-K14UWEGSTD (sale link, key layout)
Korea, EKD-K14KWEG??? (link)
