Attach Xoom to tripod - Xoom Accessories

Thanks to Chainfires DSLR Control app, I am looking for a way to mount my Xoom on my tripod. Any suggestions? Super strong velcro has been suggested, but I am not sure if that will work or not.

i know that there's a company called iSHOT that makes a tripod/window mount for the ipad/2 tablets...I'm sure that will work for the XOOM...this is probably the cheapest but still secure way to go...

if you want something more guaranteed to hold...this is what I would get...

I am doing the same thing.. I love the RAM mounts, use them for multiple things in my car. I am thinking about this setup.. have to measure the leg on my tripod first.

xoom holder

there is also a more generic one that will fit if you have your xoom in some sort of case

I am actually putting my order together as I form this post

Xoom Tripod mount
Hey guys, I did the RAM mounts but did it a bit differently.
Here's the video I did on it, pretty easy to set up.
it wont let me post youtube vids, but do a search on youtube for "Xoom tripod mount modification" and look for user lros79 (da's me)
bascially i bought the xoom holder
the ram-101U
and a curved yoke mount plate
Tapped a hole in the middle for the quick release, and BAM, modification took me about 10 minutes.

Very cool.. I have all my parts and will be putting it together possibly tonight I went with the clamp that clamps onto the leg of the tripod that I posted.

hey guys
This is all very cool, I'm a photographer myself. I don't have anything to add personally but am very interested in this.
Can i ask what benefits you've got from using the xoom on a tripod firstly and secondly, what use have you found from using the dlsr controller app from chainfire?
Apart from using it in a situation where youre unable to look through the view finder, what other benefits have you found?
Thanks guys

I like my Xoom mounted to my Tripod Leg so I can still mount camera on the tripod.
I used RAM SKU:
RAMB121B RAM Mount Yoke Clamp Base with 1 inch Ball
RAM-B-201U-C RAM Long Double Socket Arm for 1" Ball Bases
RAM-HOL-MOTO3U RAM Mount Motorola Xoom Tablet Cradle
RAMB202 RAM Mount Round Plate with 1 inch Ball
I get mine from GPSCity. It's not a cheap system but it is very secure.
If you want the arm longer than that, you can get a double ball and a second arm.
I also got the Suction Mount RAPB224-2 for using in car.

ndCheap Vehicle Mount for Otterbox Defender Users

Everyone knows by now that the Atrix mounts do not work with most cases, especially with the Otterbox Defender case since it is rather large. In my quest for a car windshield mount I happened to come across an extra mount for my garmin Nuvi GPS that I had sitting around. After checking out the size I realized it could easily be modified to be used with the Atrix Otterbox Defender case.

What you need:
Motorola Atrix Otterbox Defender Case
Garmin Nuvi windshield mount (cheap on ebay) http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m570&_nkw=garmin+nuvi+mount&_sacat=See-All-Categories
"Compatible Models: Garmin NUVI 200, 200W, 205, 205W, 250, 250W, 255, 255W, 260, 260W, 265T, 265WT, 270, 275T. "
Thin Foam padding (I used some I had left over from an Air conditioner installation)
Scissors
Dremel & #420 Cutoff wheel
All you need to do is trim the bottom and top "tabs" for the Garmin mount with your dremel cutoff wheel. While I didn't do the cleanest job, I'm sure you can make it look nicer if you care to. Use the plastic indentations on the Defender case to determine how much to cut off of the Garmin mount.
You will want to start your cuts to the left side of the original Garmin "tab", The reason for this is that you want the phone to sit the furthest to the right hand side as you can get it, so that the flap for the usb power cord plugin can open without hitting anything. By starting to the left side you will have ample room.
After you do the cuts if you test fit your phone in the modified cradle you will notice that there is a bit of side to side play, and if you shake the crap out of it the phone will fall off of the mount. To remedy this situation and put tension onto the new mounts I used my scissors and cut (2) very thin pieces of sticky-backed foam. I had some sitting around from a air conditioner installation, but you should be able to get it anywhere those types of things are sold. Stick them onto the backing as in the photo above and you are done.
That's it. You now have a nice cheap dock for your Otterbox Defender-equipped Atrix.
Enjoy.
Great mod! I've been looking for something like this since I got my otterbox.
I had been toying with the idea of trying to get a hold of an additional belt clip and modding that with a suction cup mount but they aren't available separate from the case.
It's great to see a simple solution that is readily available and inexpensive to boot.
Thanks for sharing!
Glad I could help, I was in the same predicament. This works great and for cheap. Those mounts sell on ebay for like 4-6 bux or cheaper.
There's no need to trim if you already have the belt clip that comes with the defender case, the Garmin Nuvi holder will just clip right to the belt clip...
Wow. Necropost! Great first post.

Samsung Vehicle Mount review

This official Samsung car mount works on multiple phones, not just the S3 unlike the S2 car mount I had which only worked on the S2 and only when not using a case which was a double whammy of a negative for that mount.
Have Samsung learnt the error of their ways and improved this new mount? Let's find out...
This kit comes in 3 parts, the S2 mount comes in 2:

The ball joint clips into this socket while the screw tightens the fit:
Unfortunately Samsung didn't leave room for arm adjustment so the number of ways to point the mount is very limited again, just like the S2 mount, you need to have it quite high up on the windscreen to get decent movement of the head:
Ultimately it still suffers one of the main flaws I found on the S2 dock, lack of adjustment and being aimed at windscreen mounting only as opposed to dashboard discs (see pic below). It's less advanced than the S2 mount because it doesn't have a socket the phone sits into to activate car mode, but if it did it wouldn't work on other phones whereas this one will work on almost any phone that's of compatible width as both side arms retract in and out.
So it's just a car mount that's tough and sturdy in motion, it doesn't vibrate and the suction is very strong but for what it costs I'd much rather recommend the Nokia CR-115 with a bit of DIY to the stock arm padding (remove them and replace with thinner pads) to work on phones as wide as an S3 because you get better movement and a slimmer profile for easier storage. It also costs less than £10 depending on where you shop. I also think it's by far the nicest looking mounts out there and because it's a genuine brand made one, it's good quality too.
Nokia CR-115:
Update:
The modding has started early I was looking at the ball joint and then at the ball joint on the Exomount car holder and realised they looked the same size....
So yeah, now I have a car mount that is sturdy and of excellent build and sticks to almost anything
This was pretty awesome, thanks a lot.

Review of iOttie Easy Smart Tap car/desk mount for Nexus 7 w/pics!!!

This is a review of iOttie Easy Smart Tap Car and Desk mount for Nexus 7: http://www.iottie.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=1020&ProductType=321
I know what everyone going to say, "title on website says iPad mini". I guess anything with "i" is a popular search keyword, but this particular Car/Desk mount is universal and intended to fit any tablet 5" to 5.5" wide. I was very impressed with iOttie car mount for Note 2, and decided to test their new mount for smaller tablets. The design itself consists of 3 main parts: base mount with a super strong gel base suction cup, extendable arm connecting base to the main mounting frame, and the frame which has two one-touch trigger buttons for a truly one hand operation. The gel base suction cup has one of the strongest sticky pads I have ever seen. It will stick to most of the surfaces, either in horizontal, vertical, or upside down positions, and will hold to it with it's dear life. Doesn't matter if its a smooth or textured surface - it will hold on to it. As you can see from my pictures, it wasn't as tricky mounting it on the flat top surface, but it was very impressive how it sits upside on the kitchen island, and especially impressive how I was able to mount it sideways on to a textured surface above glove box in my car. I was able to do that before with iOttie mount for Note 2, but in this case we are talking about heavier mount and heavier tablet all together. Even after multiple uses, all you have to do is to rinse and air dry the sticky pad under the water to restore it's original adhesion.
But it's not just a suction cup that holds everything together. Extendable arm/elbow is a bridge between suction cup and a mounting frame. You actually have a flexibility to have this arm connected in two ways so you have less footprint while on the desk, and longer extension while in the car. In addition to adjusting the angle, you also have a separate side knob to extend it's reach going to a mounting tab which connects to the main frame. The mounting tab connects to the frame with a sturdy 3 latches and comes with an additional stopper for extra security. The joint connection between the arm and the frame has yet another adjusting knob for a further angle fine-tuning. Placing a tablet into the frame (has to be open prior to that) is very easy since pushing on trigger buttons will automatically lock the top part of the frame thus placing your tablet into a very secure grip.
The whole mounting system is made out of a solid high quality plastic material with a nice translucent finish. Every knob is finger friendly, and also nuts and bolts are made out of metal rather some flimsy plastic. Easy Tap mechanism is very robust. Basically you only need one hand to place your tablet into the frame, and then later pull the top grip to take the tablet out. This mount is definitely worth considering if you are looking for an easy and secure mounting of your Nexus 7 either at home or in a car, but you have to be aware of one shortfall where you will have to use a tablet either without a case or with a slim type of the case. Unfortunately bottom shelf part of the frame has a narrow opening to fit the tablet with a thicker case.

Whats it like using in car when the car is being driven over some uneven roads. If you have a textured surface in the car does the mount still stick on good and strong??

Review of ExoGear ExoMount Tablet S CD mounting system w/lots of pics!!!

This is a review of ExoGear ExoMount Tablet S with a new CD mounting system. http://www.exogear.com/products-exomount-tablet-s-cd-slot-mount.html
Just in case if you missed my original ExoGear ExoMount Table S review, you can read about it in details here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2225479 . It was a great product with a very innovative suction mount platform and a fantastic mounting system to hold any small 7"/8" tablet. So how do you make it better? You add a new option to utilize mounting inside of your "retired" CD player slot!
I'm not going into details of the mount itself since it was already covered in my original review. This CD-mounting uses an identical grip with all the bells and whistles of soft grip pads, easy one-touch button to adjust the size for any tablet with and without a case, spring mounted top pad for an additional secure fitment, a lock switch to adjust the vertical slider relative to the CD-mount, and 360 degree rotation/swivel mechanism. It's a very SOLID design which holds your tablet safe and secure. But instead of suction cup mounting platform, this one introduces a new CD mounting system. Some of you have probably seen this before from another vendor, but in case of ExoGear - they re-engineered the mechanism to make it more sturdier and safer when you put it inside of your CD player slot. In today's day'n'age, who even listens to CDs in the car? We have our usb sticks or smart phones, while a lot of the cars still come equipped with a standard CD/radio unit. Taking advantage of that space with Tablet S Mount attachment is a perfect solution! The part which goes inside of the CD is soft touch rubberized and should not damage anything. Once you insert it, just tighten the lock screw and you are in business!
Overall this is a great mounting system to accommodate a variety of small tablets. The built is very solid, the material is top notch, and it's very simple to operate with a one touch mount. Currently they are on Amazon for $34.95 shipped which is a great value as well.
Here are the pictures.

hi, i want to buy a stand for my n7. just want to ask a few questions if u dont mind.
first: which one do you prefer? CD mount or dash mount?
second: which brand do you think is better?
third: what are you using right now!
thanks
emmmmm, nothing? i would really appreciate if you give me an answer. thanks in advance.
It looks like an interesting product.
The website says it holds both big size phones like galaxy note and small size tablets. I wish I could try one but my phone is smaller so maybe I get one later when I upgrade my phone to note 4.
This product is crap. I've got a Galaxy Note 8" and the connection between the two parts (see pic 7, the Wheel in the middle) are far to undersized. I broke two of this during the first day and they where mounted by the book. The Connection broke in pieces both time in a roundabout! //Plaincollar

One of those Universal Magnetic Car Mount with our ZF2

Hi all...
I've been using this phone for long time but never successfully found a good car mount. I don't want suction cup style, nor air vent clip. I am thinking of getting one of those magnetic ones. I heard comments about strong magnet interferes the screen on/off. But my main concern is the design of our phone. Our ZF2 has curved back. But this magnetic mount required to have best performance on regular phone with flat back.
I would like comment from those who used this kind of magnetic mount.
TIA
I have the aukey one. I bent the metal plate and can fit it behind the stock back cover.
It's the best set up.
No extra bulge. No case.
Jump in car.
Put on magnet. Holds tight.
Doesn't affect GPS or reception.

http://pt.aliexpress.com/item/With-..._9&btsid=2e3ff2bf-60e4-47c5-a102-e512c8d66999
No problem with back curve of our zenfone 2. Strong and effective. But with no case. If i try to put magnet inside the case the strong isnt enough. I hold but fall down when you grab a hola in the street
I use with a case and the magnet in back of case. Very nice
P.S - Doesent affect anything in screen or coverage. Double tap work as it should
I had one of this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/MEMTEQ-Univ...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
I was very sceptic in the beginning, but it worked nicely, no problem with the curved back. However when I wanted to use it with a cover as well, it didn't hold any more. At that point I replaced the piece of metal provided in the packet with a larger metal piece which I stick in between the case and the back, and that way I got it holding with, but not perfectly.
Conclusion, only buy magnet holder if you are using your ZF without any flipcover or anything else.
Thx! Is yours ball joint standard 17mm one? The thing is... before I could wait someone to feedback here, I decided to purchase the Arkon ones (non magnetic mount) that has a standard 17mm ball join on a AMPS plate (as shown below) that stick with on my existing mount.
