Does anyone have step by step directions how to remove the stock HTC and "DROIIDDD" from popping up on the new ROM? I'd like to put my custom one back on. It only replaces the "HTC Incredible" screen, not the "HTC quietly brilliant" nor the "DROIIIIDD" screen.
Thanks!
Use root explorer and find the mp3 and boot animation zip in system/customize/resource (95% sure that's where it is), rename your custom boot animation to whatever the stock one is called (maybe VZW_bootanimation.zip), then replace the stock with your custom one. Oh and delete or rename the mp3 to get rid of the sound.
Edit: I'm not exactly sure what you mean by the last part, there should be only 2 separate things you see when you boot the phone: the HTC splash screen, then the droid boot animation (with the sound).
After the splash screen is the HTC Quietly Brilliant - Boot animation <---- I think lol..I just installed like 4 different roms and all of them are mixing together. Sensation has a nice power off animation which I really like.
Download BAC Lite in the market, it will pet you change sound and download boot animation. Not the best ones but...still good enough to use.

EDIT ---- sorry for double post but it won't let me edit my full post.
It sounds like you want the splash screen gone right? As soon as you turn it on it vibrates and shows HTC quietly brilliant?
You need an SD card formatted to Fat 32 --- Download a splash screen you want rename the file a certain name (-xxxxxxxxxxx.zip-) then enter bootloader and I believe press up on your volume when in bootloader to install your new splash screen.
Someone who sees this post please help out on my wrongs and correct them?
I haven't did one but alot of people have told me.

Sorry guys let me be more clear. I want my own custom splash screen which is the android character peeing on the apple logo. I don't want any type of boot animation or any htc splash popping up. I just want 1 single splash image. Hopefully this is clear to you guys. I will go ahead and try some of those methods when I get home. Thank you!
..... google voice makes me sound so serious.
You'll have to find a flashable splash screen unless you know how to make them yourself. I know there's a guide around somewhere that tells you how to do it, I don't think it's too hard..
Splash screens are flashed in hboot. Put the file (named exactly PB31IMG.zip) on the root of the SD card, boot into hboot, it will find the file and ask to update, hit volume up to confirm. Make sure the SD card is formatted fat32.
To get rid of the boot animation, just rename or delete it.
I already know about renaming the files and using the h boot. That has been done but it doesn't show up every single boot. When I tried to delete the .zip and .mp3 for the booth screen it wouldnt allow me to delete them. Any advice?

If you're using root explorer, you need to mount R/W before deleting or renaming things in /system. The button is at the top right.
I was able to delete the VZW_bootscreen.zip and the .mp3 - now it just shows "android" after my custom splash. I'm trying to figure out how to move my own splash into the customize folder (or wherever it is) hoping it would just continue to show but it won't let me move it over from the SD. I'm using ES File Explorer. What a pain! It was so simple for Cyanogen.
I tried using BAC Lite and that won't work at all.
Will root explorer allow me to transfer a file from my SD to my system storage? Thanks for the n00b help, guys...

Well it sounds like you deleted the bootanimation? That's the only thing including a Mp3.
Splash screen can only be installed via hboot as long as your splash screen is in your SD card and its fat32.
Root explorer will let you move items and so will Es. Just long press, move or copy then paste to your destination.
BAC lite is for boot animation and mp3 if you want to change them.
Everything were telling you is correct. If you could explain more?
When you turn on your phone ------
1.) Virbates then HTC Incredible "Quietly Brilliant"
2.) Enters BootAnimation and plays Mp3
3.) Homescreen/Lockscreen shows up
Which one do you want to get rid of or remove or replace?
1, 2?

Thanks for the info. I was able to copy a custom .zip file to replace it. However, when I booted up the phone it was just black. Inside the zip is splash1.img and .txt file.
To completely clarify (sorry if I didn't do a good job of it) I would like just ONE splash image through the entire bootup. That splash is the Android guy peeing on the Apple logo (splash1.img). I did the PB31IMG.zip in the hboot screen, which was successful. For some reason though the splash only shows up on an occasional boot. Following that splash image is "HTC quietly brilliant" then now it's just "Android" because I deleted the fancy bootup/droid mp3.
When I ran Cyanogen 7 all I had to do was the PB31IMG.zip/hboot trick and it worked beautifully. The Cyanogen load splash popped up after though.
IF at all possible, once again, I would like ONLY one single splash. Nothing else. No "HTC quietly brilliant" no "DROIIIDD" no "Android" and no ".mp3 (which no longer plays, I replaced the file with a "#").
I hope I'm clear
I am running the new 2.3.4 stock GB rom for the Incredible.
Thank you for the help guys!

Umm, well sounds like you got it. I've never did a custom splash, if you need a new boot try looking in the boot animations thread. As for the splash screen, i cant really help.
The reason you got "Android" with no sound is because you deleted the .zip and mp3 which is fine since you didn't want it. Sorry I'm a bit tired, hopefully someone can help with your splash screen issue.
Puzzling..

Yeah, I guess I have the first part figured out.. not sure why it only shows up sometimes during boot up.
As far as the "android" thing there seems to be no way to kill all of it, huh? I'd rather have the original .zip and .mp3 if that's the case- it boots much faster.
If anyone knows how to completely kill off "android" and make it oneeee splash only, let me know.
Thanks for the help guys, some knowledge I didn't know!
I really don't know if it's possible to do what you want to, I think you'll always have a splash and boot "animation" even if it's deleted. Hopefully you renamed the stock boot animation or copied it? If not I know it can be found with a quick Googling.
I reflashed the rom so it's back. My splash replaces the first screen. Interesting though, if I boot it in fast boot my animation wont show. If I boot it or restart it normal it will. Gotta love technology!

So here is my thing, I want a custom splash screen and boot animation but I'm running into a problem. Everytime I try to flash it using
fastboot flash splash1 evosplash1.rgb565 I get the error (failed: no remote access) or something like that.
I found out it's because my hboot is 2.10......
but I am unable to downgrade from what I have seen because my readout from adb shell is that I have the 40000 block build or something like that and because i have that build I cant downgrade and because I cant downgrade I cant have a custom splash page and boot animation.
Any ideas?
It isn't at all true that you can't have a custom splashscreen or boot animation. You can either find a flashable zip of the boot animation you want to use and flash it via recovery, or you can manually place it in the correct folder and set permissions using Root Explorer. The location of the boot animation is dependent on the rom. If it isn't flashable, it needs to be named exactly bootanimation.zip in order for it to work once you've put it in the correct folder. I usually just rename the old one and leave it there in case I decide I don't like the new one.
Splashscreens, and I might be wrong about this because I've never used a custom one, can be loaded as a PC36IMG in the bootloader. I believe there are a small handful of them that can be flashed in recovery.
Hopefully someone that actually knows something about splash screens will chime in, since I'm afraid I may be giving out bad information when it comes to that.

Thank you for your insight. The issue I'm running into is I can't figure out how to get into the folder to place the boot animation. With the hboot being 2.10..... it won't let me change anything in there.

Your hboot has nothing to do with it, you need to boot into the rom and do it there. You can use Root Explorer to copy/cut and paste the boot animation into the correct folder. Rename the existing one to something else, you'll need to mount as r/w by tapping the button near the top that says "mount r/w". After you've moved the new boot animation and renamed it properly (if needed), you will need to set the permissions to match the old one. You can do this by long pressing the file and selecting permissions from the list. Then mount as r/o the same way you mounted r/w. When you've finished, reboot.
You should see your new boot animation
If you don't have Root Explorer, I would suggest buying it - it will come in handy. You can also use EStrongs and I believe File Expert has an option for root access. In ES File Explorer, you have to enable root functions in settings. I don't know if you can mount r/w through the app and it may not operate the same as my directions, but it's free. For root file actions, Root Explorer is just more polished in my opinion and well worth the money.

Thanks man, works great. The only issue I'm having is I can not get any audio. The audio is in the format spc_bootanimation_final.m3 and the bootanimation is spc_bootanimation.zip, any ideas?

Well, that 'man,' is actually a lady, and a good one too. Working on another gold star.
And it needs to be SPC_bootanimation_final.mp3 [yes, its case sensitive.] And try renaming the animation to just bootanimation. Are you on an aosp or sense rom?
Sorry mam, not man lol. Wish my ol lady was that technical lol.
I'm on sense, I didn't know if I shuld try to rename it to just bootanimation.zip or not since the rom's animationwas spc_anmation.zip and it was all in lowercase as well. I'll try the upper on the audio though.

Well with gaining the skill, comes time, lol.
Well its been since 'nam since I ran sense, though I keep the kingdom rom as my sense rom. For the audio, with the SPC in caps, that should work, and the same for the just bootanimation.zip as well.
Ok, so the mp3 wasin format SPC_bootanimation_final.mp3 and I set the permissions the same as the bootanimation. Could it be because it is just the audio file, not a zip with the text file in it?

Well the audio file is just that, just the file .mp3. It may have been because they weren't formatted/named correctly.
So here is where I am. I have the boot animation working flawlessly and have successfully changed it to 4 different animations without problem. Sound is still the problem. Here is what I have tried.
SPC_bootanimation_final.mp3
spc_bootanimation_final.m3
SPC_bootanimation.mp3
spc_bootanimation.mp3
SPC_bootsound_final.mp3
spc_bootsound_final.mp3
SPC_bootsound.mp3
spc_bootsound.mp3
I have it in the same folder as the animation (system/customize/resource) with the same permissions (Readwner, group, others...Write: group)
I'm at a loss, everything should work but still no sound.
You should have SPC_animation_final.mp3 in the system/customize/resources folder, and nothing?
Nope, nothing. I have played the file just to make sure it has sound and it does. I also tried moving it to system/media as android_audio.mp3 as was suggessted in another thread with nothing. Now boot sound worked with the stock rom, aybe from flashing it, it changed the audio setting maybe? I'm gonna try and change that real quick and see if it works.
Ok so I'm not getting it, all sounds are completely up. The only thing I ca figure is maybe somewhere in the rom it has been blocked/disabled for sounds at bootup. That's the only thing I can think of.
Hi
I'm really sorry that I have ask so many questions lately, but I rooted 2 days ago and dont understand few things. I just ipdated from RCMix S v1.72 to RCMix S v1.8 and everything is ok, so I have one more question. How to cahnge Boot animation, I really dont like that when I turn my device on it shows joker with card s-off and then this firing up animation, how can I replace those two with something more interesting and cooler?
Thanks
To change the joker thing, just read the FAQs at the bottom of AlphaRev's site.
The boot animation afterwards is rom specific, ask your rom developer where these animation files are stored. Not easy to change.
I do not know how to changee this joker thing. For the other (following) bootanimation:
Download a fitting bootanimation-file (bootanimation.zip) for your os. Copy this zip-file to /system/media and replace the current bootanimation.zip with root explorer or any explorer which has root rights (like super manager; just activate root option in its settings). Now reboot and you should see the new bootanimation. But make a nandroid backup first, just in case.

Going through trial and error wondering why i cant find boot animations zip or folder on the system partition of my epic, i realized they are now using a .qmg file for the shutdown and boot animation.
i know as of right now no one has been able to get there hands on qurans software i know that. but i know to shut down the phone android uses a shutdown apk that has a butch of scripts to close all the apps and clear the memory and whatever else, but there has to be in that apk a script to run the shutdown animation.
is there an boot apk somewhere in the kernal too? would that be to edit the scripts to have it execute pictures instead of qmg?
and am i assuming anything here? cuz am really just THINKING i know what its does cuz it would make sense to me. lol
the real question: is it possible to edit that apk and have it execute all of the pictures of a normal boot or shutdown animation instead of the .qmg file??
i can be bad at explaining things. sorry.
I am trying to change my boot animation on cm7 and have tried to change it to a pc36img file and it says parsing file. I also have tried to move it into the systems media folder using rootexplorer but I get a message stating its a read only file. I tried changing the permissions and still nothing. Any help would be appreciated. Im sure Im missing something here.
On root explorer, press on the top right where it says "mount" before you paste, it'll let you paste it.
Then just set permissions.

You have to make sure that you moved the file to the correct place, that the permissions match the original's, and that the boot animation was built properly. Try another and see if you get the same result. If you do, you're doing something wrong. If it works, there's something wrong with the boot animation you're trying to use.
You said it was a PC36IMG, so I'm thinking that it's the file. Usually boot animations are either moved manually or made into a flashable zip - splashscreens come as PC36IMGs. If you can attach the file, I'll take a look at it for you.
Sent from my Evo + MIUI using Tapatalk!
If you're manually placing it in the /system/media/ folder, which is what I recommend doing, then the file needs to be named bootanimation.zip and contain ONLY the png files and the required txt info file.
As plainjane said, splash screens are usually what are flashed via PC36IMG.zip files.
disk space?
it keeps tellin me i dont have enough disk space to copy and paste? i deleted the old boot anime, so how could i possibly not have enough??

FYI, NEVER delete anything from your system folders that is currently working until you have a replacement that you know for a fact works. I usually rename the file with (backup) appended to the file name. That way I can go back if the file I am replacing it with is junk.
It dosent matter if its just a boot animation... I cut my phone back on before i got it workin

Uhh.....what?
1. Place the bootanimation.zip file below into /system/media/
2. DO NOT change the name at all.
3. Move preexisting bootanimation file somewhere into your SD card so that you don't lose it.
4. Then reboot your phone.
I know for a fact that the file is a good file because I've used it before. If your phone still screws up then you're most likely not putting it in the right location. The zip file size is just under 5MB. So make sure you have at least that much space free in your phone's internal storage.
I included thumbnail previews of the bootanimation. (I don't remember who created this bootanimation but it was not I.)
Edit: I think it was Dysgenic, or something like that, that created this bootanimation.
What i was saying is it doesent matter if you delete all boot animations and cut your phone on. It just defaults to a very simple android one... And that i had got it workin.
