Hello,
I have a T-Mobile G2 and I have been on Miui-108050 for sometime, but I want to go back to CM7. After wiping data+cache from recovery I tried flashing a CM7 nightly, and RC1, but both just stuck at the HTC screen. I was unable to get a logcat from the HTC bootscreen either. After trying this many times I restored my Miui nandroid and downloaded rom manager to reflash ClockworkMod recovery and it says it was successful in flashing recovery 3.0.2.4 but when I reboot into recovery, it goes from the HTC bootscreen to a black screen, and then reboots back into Miui. After trying this multiple times I still can't get into recovery.
Can someone provide me the .img for the latest G2 ClockworkMod recovery and the command to flash it through terminal and help me re install CM7?
This should help.

The command "adb push recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-vision.img /data/local/tmp/recovery.img" was successful but did not bring my recovery back.
Also, in Fastboot, recovery is not an option.
It does say S-OFF Hboot-0.76.2000 radio - 26.08.04.30_M3 emmc-boot
I also tried reflashing a PC10IMG.zip through my bootloader, but it failed and now my phone seems to be bricked. It won't get past the bootscreen.
Please someone tell me how I can use my phone again by only having a bootloader.
Trying to reload a PC10IMG without knowing exactly what it will do is not advisable as that is a very easy way of bricking your phone. Especially if the phone is not behaving how it should from the beginning.
Beside that, it appears as if your phone isn't a complete brick. Have you attempted to go through the instructions in the following thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=842495&highlight=semi+brick
I cannot get into adb shell. It says no such file or directory.

I have been using a CM 7 RC0 nightly since it came out with no problems. I have been updating about once a week. I had a single nightly on for the last week and I hadn't updated it because everything was working fine. I had my phone charging at my desk and out of nowhere it rebooted. I wasn't using it when it rebooted. On reboot it got stuck on the HTC Incredible screen. It will not boot to recovery or boot to the OS. I can get to HBoot and flash various updates but the phone still won't load. What are my next steps? Is it bricked/broke?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Have you tried going into recovery from hboot?
Also, have you tried flashing the stock ROM from hboot?
I have. When I go to recovery from hboot it does the same thing. Hangs on the HTC Incredible screen.
Flashing the stock ROM went through the flashing process (showed a progress bar and went through the steps) and appeared to succeed but the phone still did the same thing: displayed the white HTC Incredible screen...indefinitely.
if the screen has anything on it, its not bricked. dont worry - there is a sticky on the forum that should be able to help you. just get into recovery (if you cant, then flash recovery file in hboot first) then flash a stock rom.
brick is when you damage the radio or cant even get anything on the screen. everything else (pretty much) can be solved.

try flashing hboot .92, then cwr 2.5.1.2 (i am sure that works for both slcd and amoled screens - not sure which screen you have), then flash the stock rom. if that does not work then it might be something hardware related that might require some other fix.
be careful about flashing new hboot. pls read the stickies at the top.
Okay, I can flash hboot .92, at least I think I can. It does some work and then prompts me to reboot. When I reboot it goes back to the white screen. How do I put Clockwork on there? Unrevoked won't connect to the phone and I can't get into recovery to flash anything. Is there instructions for installing Clockwork without Unrevoked?
Have you tried flashing an RUU?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
I downloaded an RUU and it was an exe. How do I flash an RUU from hboot? I cannot get to recovery.
RUU
You actually run the RUU via your PC, it's installed like any other program. Hook your DINC up via usb and follow the on screen prompts.
I'm having issues with a bootloop on the incredible after rooting using unrevoked 3 and making the mistake of choosing cyanogenmod as the recovery because I'm incredibly new at this. Now granted this isn't an issue, I have root access now and I'm able to assign superuser and the phone boots to what looks like the stock rom. However, I wanted to flash cyanogen 7 rc2 and it's giving me a lot of issues when I try to access the clockworkmod recovery screen. I downloaded the rommanager from the market and flashed the recovery to clockworkmod 3.0.0.8 as per a wiki online and tried to boot to recovery. from there it hits the HTC incredible screen, then flashes every 3 seconds rather than showing the green text it's supposed to show.
I still have S-on and unrevoked won't run properly again. Tried running the factory reset and it's another bootloop. I tried going through the steps for a "manual recovery file flash via cyanogen's wiki, but I'm running into errors.
Summary:
unrevoked 3.32 completed successfully even using the cyanogenmod rom as the recovery file.
Have root access, S-on, radio version ~.7.28
Can't flash back to stock due to bootloop
Can't factory reset due to bootloop
Can't get to clockworkmod recovery screen due to bootloop
phone able to boot to main screen with original
Ideal solution: get to clockworkmod recovery screen and install C7RC2
Any help appreciated!
Why do you think using ClockworkMod was a mistake? It's one of the better AOSP ROMs out there.
It sounds to me like you're probably going to have to download one of the stock RUUs to completely revert your phone to stock. You might have a corrupted recovery. You can't flash ClockworkMod or an alternative recovery via RomManager?
oh don't get me wrong, my huge problem here is that I can't get into recovery, and I didn't load clockworkmod initally, but it is (as rom manager says) my recovery image and it's just not working at all.
I tried going with a RUU and it wouldn't get into bootloader properly (just shows HTC on the screen till the the ruu times out) I'll try on a 32 bit machine when I get home. I was originally able to flash on that and unrevoked was giving me issues till I did a 32 bit xp attempt. Thanks for the response!
whoops, forgot to address your last point. Tried another version of clockwork and the RA_GNM 1.8.1 and neither stopped it from bootlooping rather than recovery screen.

Did you try getting to recovery manually power off the phone while its off press power and volume down at the same time you should be in hboot use the volume button to scroll down boot into recovery.....

I don't think unrevoked finish all The way because you should be s-off did you wait until it said "done"..... or did you stop when it said "this is a triumph"

Okay, from a 32 bit system has resolved the flashing back to a stock rom, I will update as to whether I can get into recovery and will wait until I am told "triumphant" this time around.
Will post an update in a bit if this was all that was necessary to fix the issue. Thank you all to have posted so far, please post if you think I'm missing something else.

No you need to wait till it says done sorry you misunderstood me......let it go till it says done and it stops completely..... because the last thing it does is flash the recovery

Did you try flashing a recovery through hboot?
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Okay, problem totally resolved. basically what happened was that there was an incomplete unrevoked process for whatever reason or another. I repaired by downloading the RUU off the HTC website and flashing back to stock. That generated an error of "your firmware is too new" which is available elsewhere in XDA, basically solved by going into hboot and factory resetting.
Once I had the factory reset completed, I used a 32 bit system to unrevoke the phone (after setting debugging to on in applications > developer settings >debugging on) then I was able to properly boot into recovery. I recommend Clockworkmod update to 3.0.0.8 in Rom manager, but I used 2.5 and didn't have much of an issue. I backed up and the wiped the memory and cache and installed 7r2 without an issue.
The phone is WAY more stable now (thanks to all the hard work at Cyanogen! Thank you also to everyone who posted here!) Pandora doesn't randomly cut songs in half and battery life seems to have improved. Whether that was verizon's crap or I went market-crazy and had waaaay too many apps syncing... I can't say.
Thank you everyone again!
I spent all night downgrading to froyo, when I was finally at 2.2 I used the visionary method to get temp root, that worked fine, when I tried to get permanent root I couldnt get s-off so I started following another guide here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835777
I followed all the steps and when I typed in reboot the phone rebooted and got stuck at the htc screen. I tried to turn it on with vol- and power and go into recovery but I got a black screen with a phone and error message, then it rebooted back to the htc screen and is still stuck there.
Please help! this is my only phone and I need it fixed asap
Thanks in advance!
can you enter bootloader? what does it show?

There have been numerous warnings over the past year about Visionary that I have to ask this question: Why oh why did you use it? Rage is a much safer method than Visionary and won't brick your phone at all (rooted three G2's with Rage/Gfree).
Yes, shows
Viision pvt eng s-off

by the time i got back to 2.2 it was almost 4am and i just wanted to get it done i followed the first thread i found.
Yes i know i made a mistake but any help would be apreciated
what is ?
what is your main problem
the problem is it wont load past the htc logo screen
Get a copy of the 2.2 PC10IMG.zip and reboot into your bootloader (Vol. Down + Power). If the bootloader can flash it, you should be able to boot normally. Go to the CyanogenMod Wiki and root using Rage/Gfree.

is there gonna be a problem since i have s-off
I put the PC10IMG.zip in the root of the sd card, turned the phone on (vol- and power) it found the image, there was a loading bar to the right, and then nothing happened after the load. Im still at the same bootloader and if I reboot it is still stuck at the htc screen

Okay, go back into your bootloader and flash the latest ClockworkMod recovery via Fastboot.
I assume I can find the directions on how to load clockwork through fastboot on here. If that does work and I can go into recovery would I be safe to flash a custom rom at that point

Since I will only have time to work on the phone tonight after work and I need it for tomorrow are there any other possible solutions to my problem or would flashing clockwork through fastboot be it?

For fastboot to flash recovery, the image needs to be on your comp. Open up your computer's Terminal, cd to the directory it's in, and type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" (without the quotes).
Sent via smoke signal.
nevermind got it
for people that are curious:
have the recovery.img (correct one! this was my problem) in the tools folder of the android sdk, open command prompt from that folder (hold shift and right click)
then run this command
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
also phone has to be in fastboot (vol- and power, then select fastboot)
I finally have recovery!
Im gonna try to load a rom now!
It worked! my phone is alive!
Thank you all for your help!
hello 2 all!
i´ve searched since 4 days but got no luck so far..
i was on IceColdSandwich 7.4 test7.1. i have had the latest radio and 4ext newest version as recovery..
then my phone freezed. i took out the battery and rebooted. the phone stucked at green htc logo. i rebooted again to restore my nandroid backup. full wipe, flash succesfull but no luck at boot. still the same.
now when i boot my phone and go to the bootloader menu, it shows this..
ace pvt eng s-off
hboot-0.85.2007 (pd9810000)
microp-0438
radio-26.14.04.28_m
emmc-boot
any try to flash a new recovery or something elase via fastboot goes wrong and my phone seems to be "dead"
someone here who can guide my through my problem?
if more info is needed, please post
You tried flashing a new recovery via adb? Your recovery is still working though right? I doubt you'll need to flash a new recovery then. Try running the superwipe function in 4ext and then restore the nandroid backup. Also, if you don't restore the backup and just flash a new ROM instead, does it boot?

i can´t do anything at all. only boot into bootloader and choose fastboot. but nothing happens if i choose recovery. then the phone reboots and stuck at htc logo. i guess my phone "is completely naked"..
even updating through original ruu stucked at 20% "waiting for bootloader" or "update booting"
you say you tried to flash recovery via fastboot. maybe pd98img would work...
Yes. There is a thread somewhere in the development forum which has a link to download the stock ROM in PD98IMG.zip form. Search in all threads with 'RUU' in their title. That's the only type of file you can flash in fastboot. Only stock ROMs and radios work that way. Download that file, put it in the root of your SD card, boot into bootloader and wait. It'll detect it itself and ask if you want to flash it. That should work. You'll be back to stock though and will have to root and s-off again.

Running CWM 3.x.x from DHD release
Downloaded CWM 5.8.1.5 zip and 'flash' using install zip util on 3.x but when I went back into recovery it was still 3.x
Didn't realise it was 3.x so I wiped then full wiped etc, then realised 3.x so ran 5.x install again
Decided to reboot to make sure 5.x had installed BUT I hadn't yet flashed a ROM on!
Stuck at HTC screen, have a broken 'DOWN' button so I can't boot into recovery and I can't get into Android and reboot to recovery for obvious reason
Please please can someone help? I just need to get back into recovery to flash.
If it helps, I'm on OS X but I have access to Windows and iirc Ubuntu
Danke

So to clarify. You tried to flash the CWM5 recovery.zip from CWM3 recovery, but it failed? You could try to fastboot flash the recovery.img from your computer. Also, are you S-On or S-Off?
To reboot into recovery connect to computer and from cmd type "adb reboot bootloader."

My volume down button is broken so I can't access anything on the device. Yes I tried to flash 5 from 3 and it failed.
I'm fairly sure I'm s off. When I rooted etc I used the phone only method so I didn't need adb. Will I need to download anything?

Take a look at your bootloader info. If it show 'ace pvt __ s-off, means that it is s-off.
Fail in flashing rom sometimes hinting that there is something wrong with hardware. Unfortunately our hardware expert is no longer here.
