hi, i recently purchased the Dinc2 and rooted it yesterday with revolutionary. I am running last nights build of the Cyanogenmod 7 rom and my android buttons don't rotate with the screen like they do on the stock htc rom, is there any fix for this?

The rotating buttons are a HTC Sense feature, not an Android feature, therefore they are not supported in CM7.

ah, thank you. is there any chance they will be supported in CM7 in the future?

You may need to ask that in the official CM forums to get an answer.

Doubt it since CM7 is not a Sense-based ROM. Same thing with MIUI and the dev said it will never probably be implemented. It doesn't really bother me though.

Hey guys,
Steve Kondik (Cyanogen) has posted an update on his twitter saying that he intends CyanogenMod6 to come to eight devices with the Desire being one of them. This is brilliant news in my opinion to have the Cyanogen team on our books.

What does CM offer over/above MCR or other custom chefs? Curious, as new to the scene.

Assuming you meant cooking, I think JesusFreke and Haykuro would have something to say about that
He's definitely the main man now, though - can't wait to get some CM on my Desire!

The "special" about Cyanogen is, that they build their ROMs from the AOSP git. And as the AOSP is an open source project, they build quite many patches on their own~
But can we expect video recording to work and having no echo? I'm afraid not, as CM5 also has this issues.
I am shure CyanogenMod 6 will have all those echo and video problems fixed.
Beno already fixed videorecording on 5.0.8 AFAIK... but now 6.0 has priority!
Looking forward to it! Great work guys!

I can confirm that Video Recording is fixed on the latest 5.0.8, just waiting for the network issue to be finished & this will be the ROM for me!

Great news, I was looking at the release notes and known bugs. Haven't actually tested the ROM.
Awsome
Whaouuuu, as huge news !! First of all thank you for sharing this news and I look forward to putting this rom on my HTC !!
And thank you to you Cyanogen !!!!
Is there a chance that someone can port this for our DHD ?

Let's hope so
CyanogenMod for Desire HD
Yes someone please get this ported. We currently don't have any stock android roms for the DHD.

If I just wanted close to a stock rom, I'd use CyanogenMod. I think the excitement here is over the possibility of Android 2.3 Gingerbread. The fact it's stock is a bonus though.

Well now that that Gingerbread source code is available, hopefully it will be a teensy weensy bit easier for Raider to get the DHD a fully working build. You are a super star Raider, gimme a shout if I can help in any way during testing etc...

Indeed, the Oxygen version of GingerBread for Desire works great!
The thread for the Oxygen Gingerbread is HUGE! Too long to read the whole thing. Are there any known issues with it--does everything (wifi, video recording) work now?
Dont hold your breath for a sence gingerbread rom soon tho, until htc release a gingerbread rom, we have no source code

Hardly, tried it and there really is no noticeable difference, well not that you would notice for day to day use.
Have to argue, have you tried aosp based Roms like oxygen? brilliant compared to sense, and if you don't like the look? Theme it, use launcher pro and do whatever else you wanna do
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Edit: each man to his own of course, but I love the speed over the slight extra functionality of sense
But is there going to be a real version of Gingerbread for the HTC Desire?
I'm assuming they'll stop eventually.

Almost everything works, just a few minor bugs, the most oustanding (imho) being network location based applications and gps navigators not working.

no way of porting 2.2's Sense to 2.3 then?
although as we know everyone wants the new sense 2.0 anyway
Yeah the advances off the HD rom but with the new keyboard and they make the Desire a payphone......
another article on it here: http://www.techradar.com/news/phone...tting-android-2-3-in-the-coming-weeks--916992
doesnt say anything new though
Looks like 5.0 Jelly Bean will be coming soon but will out phones even run 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ? Who knows.
Of course 5.0 is aimed at larger devices but it will probably be ported to any device the developers see fit to port to.

Yeah scrap the Android 4 AOSP petition.
Lets make it Android 4 Sense this time and then Android 5 AOSP.
We can also send a petition to Qualcom to make and release a code to make the Desire processor dual core.
ICS is running fairly decently on Desire and Nexus One I'd say - still bugs but there's massive progress
we all cant wait until ICS is 100% working will be the day we all fall in love with our Desire again
I am amazed how smooth the ICS ASOP Rom is. But I'm back to Gingerbread and I don't think I'll update to 5.0 any time. I bought the Desire nearly two years ago right at the beginning and the development during this time was great.
IMHO it isn't necessary to update a two year old device to the newest os version.
I want ICS to work on the Desire. HTC still love it. They're just too lazy to get working software on older hardware.
Why not, why not. One reason more to work on 3.x kernel.

As I could see here a Nexus One has a fully working MIUI ICS rom on MIUI United States site. Also, as much as I know both N1 and Desire has the same hardware under the hub, so porters I don't see any reason not to see it on Desire.
I'm not able to do that but I can chalenge you.

If you read the thread you will see that this rom has the same problems as all the rest. Mainly handling video recording and playback. The kernel is still 2.6 and the rom base is definately based on evervolv sources. So, no there's nothing new in this rom.
