[SOLUTION] Missing camera settings restore - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

To anyone who has problem with settings in the camera (no settings in non english language)
Download the file camerasettingsmanifest.0409.zip form this thread
1. Translate the file camerasettingsmanifest.0409.xml to your language .
2. From this Microsoft table find the code for your language and rename the file by replacing the "0409" with your code
(For Greece the number is "0408")
3. Then add the txt extention to the file and mail it to an account that you can read by your phone.
4. From your phone open the mail and press the attachment to download and pres again to open with Word.
5. In word save the file as camerasettingsmanifest.XXXX.xml.txt and close word
6. Open Touchexplorer and navigate to \My Documents
7. Rename the file camerasettingsmanifest.XXXX.xml.txt to camerasettingsmanifest.XXXX.xml and copy it to \Windows
8. Restart the phone and you are ready..Your camerra settings are there.
Note that where XXXX is the code number of your country

Yeah, Budniu is right, it is indeed the problem with the interop service.
Don't understand why MS have done that.

ChevronWP7 Unlocker & Cert download - *here* + video tutorial

As people may know, Chevron have removed their unlocker download for WP7 so I thought I'd archive it and make it available for everyone here still:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=JY0ZFVKD
EDIT: Thanks to Cendaryn we also have the required security certificate - the easiest way (thanks to Talys) to install the cert and unlock your WP7 is to do as follows:
1. Unzip file, and attach chevronwp7.cer (see below for file) to an e-mail to yourself
2. Open email in WP7
3. Tap attachment once, turns it into a shield, tap it again, goes to install certificate screen with white letters on black screen
4. Click install at the bottom
5. Make sure registry is modified:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsPhone\ProxyPorts]“DeviceReg”=dword:000069C5
I think the WP7 developer tools from MS does this, but you can add it in manually (it's a 32bit DWORD)
6. Plug in phone and leave Zune running
7. Run chevronwp7.exe, click both checkboxes
8. Click unlock
Excellent video tutorial here thanks to Jaxbot

Worried that Microsoft has relocked your phone? They haven't, look here
[Edit 20th January 2011]
Want to keep your unlocked HTC from re-locking every sync? See here
Hope this helps someone.
Nice but they removed the cert as well - so until we don't have that the unlocker itself is pretty useless

By the way, the easiest way to install the .cer is to email it to yourself, then tap the attachment. WP7 comes up with a screen that confirms that you want to install the cert
but it isn't working for me now
ceesheim: what is the problem? cert and exe both worked for me (though I downloaded the chevronwp7.exe elsewhere)

I did the same as you .
where did you download it ?

[HTC] Prevent WP7 from Relocking

This is discussed elsewhere, but deep within other threads, so I wanted to give it it's own thread to help people in finding out how to prevent Zune from relocking WP7 devices. It only works on HTC devices for now because TouchXplorer only works for HTC devices.
1. Install TouchXplorer
2. Install HTC Connection Setup
3. Download and extract this zip file to your PC.
4. Deploy the extracted XAP to your device
5. If XBMOD.Files.Deployer does not automatically run, run it from your App list on your device.
6. Using TouchXplorer on your device, copy \My Documents\My Ringtones\CustClear.provxml to \Windows\
7. Run HTC Connection Setup on your device, hit the ok button (with the check mark) to let it provision.
8. You're done.
If you unlock with ChevronWP7, apply this hack, and then for some reason your phone relocks, refer to DanielNTX's post to get it unlocked again. You need to install a new certificate, provided on his post.
All credit goes to xboxmod and his HTC Registry Editing thread and HTC WP7 Apps thread.
Hope it works for me... "thanks"
I tried this before and it didn't work. It revoked every application I had downloaded.
Yeah I had this done for a while but my question is can I uninstall the program once I've done everything else? It looks ugly in my app list =/
This Didn't work for me, had finally got it unlocked, came back 3 hours later, connected with this installed and also with flight mode on and now my phone's relocked. Make sure to block Windows Mobile Zune Communication Service from your firewall, while that was blocked it didn't relock

Thanks. This works well. Finally, I don't need to unlock everytime after zune syncing.
Do you think this patch will be removed by MS at the next update as well as chevron unlock?
I think that chevron (the phone unlocker) doesn't work after OSupdate.
Yes, the method that ChevronWP7 uses will be disabled in the update... but that doesn't mean it won't be cracked open again.
After applying this patch there are 2 files in the My Ringtones dir - one of them is restoreCustClear.provxml file, which means it will revert the registry changes done by the first provxml file (custClear.provxml).
Do you think that if I activate my phone the Marketplace will start working as usual - downloading any apps without the error "can't get info right now... come back after a little while" , AFTER I've installed the above patch for not relocking the phone? I.e. in other words can I side-load apps and simultaneously continue to use the legacy Marketplace without any problems?
@thesecondsfade, applied the patch on my HD2.
Thanks

not there yet, it's upgrading at the moment (at the last and longest stage). I had mine unlocked via the MFG tool. I reset the two registry keys PortalUrlInt and PortalUrlProd back to the https links
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg]
"PortalUrlProd"="https://developerservices.windowsphone.com/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010"
"PortalUrlInt"="https://developerservices.windowsphone-int.com/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010"
(thanks to drkfngthdragnlrd)
and set the DeveloperUnlockState to 1. While still in the MFG tool I started the MangoB2-DevRetailUpdate tool.
It would not work initially. Closed the tool, started the new beta Zune software and it relocked the phone. Closed Zune, disconnected phone and went back into the MFG app and unlocked it. Connected phone to PC again, restarted the tool and it started the backup and installation process.
How to Un-Lock your Phone without Chevron 7
You can unlock the phone by using the MFG registry editor.
Open the MFG app and use the password to open it. If you don't know it's (appmfg#*#)
Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Settings -> Edit Registry
Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
Set your input path to "\Comm\Security\LVMod"
Set your input key to "DeveloperUnlockState" and set to DWORD
Hit Query. Output result should return a "0" or a random long number. If it does continue.
Set your input data box to "1" and hit SET. Output result should be 1
How To Keep Your Phone Unlocked
You can keep your phone unlocked and prevent Zune from re-locking it.
Open the MFG app and use the password to open it. If you don't know it's (appmfg#*#)
Go to Engineer Menu -> Other Settings -> Edit Registry
Set your ROOT PATH to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"
Set your input path to "\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg"
Set your input key to "PortalUrlProd" and set to DWORD
Hit Query. Output result should return data. If it does continue.
Keep your input data box empty and hit SET. Output result should be 0
Keep this screen open and continue to Part 2

The first thing I did was to download and install the Windows Phone Developer Tools. Once downloaded I started it up and then just exited.
Then I went and changed these settings using the MFG app. Make sure they are typed in correctly!!
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg]
PortalUrlProd = https://developerservices.windowsphone.com/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010
PortalUrlInt = https://developerservices.windowsphone-int.com/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010
I then tried to run the MangoB2-DevRetailUpdate.exe but it gave me an error that it could not find UpdateWP.exe. I renamed the Setup-UpdateWP-x64.exe to UpdateWP.exe but got the same error.
So I just installed the new Test Zune and tried to look for an update there and it didn't find any so I quit Zune and tried to run MangoB2-DevRetailUpdate.exe, this time it work but said my phone was lock so I loaded up MFG, changed the developerunlockstate back to 1, tried again and it work!!
I'm currently on step 7 of 9 in the last update on Zune ISV beta (7661)
EDIT: I haven't had to edit the settings to keep the phone from re-locking, you should only need to do that after you have Mango fully installed.
Make sure you have this set correctly!!!
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\DeviceReg]
PortalUrlProd = https://developerservices.windowsphone.com/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010
PortalUrlInt = https://developerservices.windowsphone-int.com/Services/WindowsPhoneRegistration.svc/01/2010

PortalUrlProd = https://developerservices.windowspho...on.svc/01/2010
PortalUrlInt = https://developerservices.windowspho...on.svc/01/2010
Then run zune, run devupdater
it will close zune, then it will tell u blablabla its locked
NOT THIS ( "Checking if your phone is dev unlocked...
Failed. Please try the following
1) Connect the phone
2) Launch Zune software and wait for it to connect to the device
3) Close Zune software
4) Restart the tool. ") but the other info
Then u have to stay connected to pc, and with still running mfg ulockstate = 1 and run updater again, the rest of it is just next, next, next

I am running into an issue where I get an error when installing Setup-UpdateWP-x64, in that it says I need to install Visual Studio 2010 Service Pack 1.
Is this a common occurence for others? It's a pretty big download and I am on crappy work network, so it will take some time. I can do a custom install though, and shave off unneeded components, so if someone could advise me on that it would be great!

Otherwise, remember, this is for developers.. hence the fact it wants VS installed.

[HOW TO]Omnia 7 mango jailbreak(work on 7712)

Original Post(Chinese):http://www.wpxap.com/thread-82265-1-1.html
Ddeveloped by GLB in C-reader developing team(a ebook reader app made in china)
EDIT: If you updated to 7712 with 7661 unlocked, you can enter diagnosis->gprs settings then choose the unlock.xml to unlock 7712.
Not working properly on focus right now. The Diagnosis app in Focus is different from the Omnia7's . So the methods below are not recommended for Focus users.
See the "Problems and Solutions" part for detail.
Please post your Diagnosis version and ROM if you succeed.
Simple translation(I'm chinese, so the translation is not very good,sorry for that)
REQUIRES
IF you have updated to mango, roll back to 7392 or earlier. make sure it's unlocked.
Then you needs these files(1-4 are contained in the Omnia7 mango JB.zip)
1)Wp7UsbStorageEnabler
2)WP7RootTools 0.5 alpha.xap
3)language.xml (this is for chinese languages,can be omitted)
4)unlock.xml
5) Diagnosis app(ver 1xxx)
Note: If your Diagnosis version is 0929 or earlier, you should uninstall it and dial ##634# under 7932. By doing this you can update your Diagnosis app.
Before updating to mango
1)copy language.xml and unlock.xml to rootfolder/picture/ via Wp7UsbStorageEnabler
2)deploy WP7RootTools 0.5 alpha.xap and copy the xml file(s) to provxml/ in the root folder(create one if provxml folder doesn't exist)
note:
the file name will change after being copied to phone. Look for it under /My Documents/Zune/Content, including sub-folders.(size is the clue)
You can look through /My Documents/Zune/Content/0400 first.
Don't forget to rename the xml files to original one.
3)exit WP7RootTools and enter diagnosis(##634#),open GPRS settings (*#9908#). click "Select GPRS" and you will see the xml file(s). dont choose any of them. Just click Save.
note: Don't update to mango if you can't find unlock.xml in GPRS settings! You can't jailbreak mango without unlock.xml.
If you want chinese,you should choose language.xml then save. the Unlock.xml is used after updating to mango.
After Updating to Mango
after updating to mango,enter diagnosis->gprs settings,and choose the unlock.xml then save.
No rebooting needed.
All done.Enjoy
Problems and solutions
--->Focus<---
It's confirmed that Diagnosis(ver 0929 or earlier) can't find the xml file in the GPRS settings.
The Diagnosis version is different according to which rom you are using.
Rogers -> 0929
Att -> 1122
If your Diagnosis version is 0929 or earlier, uninstall and dial ##634# to reinstall it again (in 7392). It will update the Diagnosis app.
If it still not work:
Reflash to AT&T 7004 > Open Diagnose > Unlock > 7008 > 7390 > Open Diagnose (still 929) > Uninstall Diagnose > Open ##634# again, and it's already updated.(Thanks to minori_aoi,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15368673&postcount=55)
Note:
If your phone is updated to 7392 with the OEM registry information (ATT-US) deleted, the Diagnosis won't be updated.
If the unlock.xml is still missing in the GPRS settings, here is a solution:
Copy&paste unlock.xml in another way:
1)In 7392, download and deploy New_SMS_Unlock.xap.
2)Browse with WP7 Root Tools to Applications\Install
3)Search for a folder which starts with D19A80F2-1717.....Then you will find the unlock.xml
Then do as above.
I don't know what's the difference between the unlock.xml in New_SMS_Unlock.xap and the normal one. Both size and content are the same. But it just worked on hx4700 Killer's focus.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15329491&postcount=5 for detail
Thanks to contable and hx4700 Killer.
--->Wp7UsbStorageEnabler<---
Zune will start automatically when the phone is connected. Then you will see nothing in WP7 phone's folder in the Explorer.
Here's the solution:
When the phone s connected,open phone's folder in Explorer as fast as you can.
This make Wp7UsbStorageEnabler connect with your phone before Zune.
You can also close Zune when it appears.
About C-Reader
C-Reader is a fascinating ebook reading app and the developers are working hard to make it optimized for mango.A beta release will soon be published including some "mango features" like extremely fast resuming and background downloading.I hope you guys could have try~~
App link:http://wp7applist.com/en-US/app/16650/creader
That's great!! I have jailbreaked!
Thank to GLB in C-reader.
very very nice tweak !!!!
we can now execute all registry tweak we want in mango, just edit xml file !!!
What make this hack can't be used on Focus ??? As far as the Unlock.xml goes, it's only contain Dev Unlock, Prevent Re-lock, and Max Sideloaded Application limit.
I also can access *#9908# from diag tools. So what's missing from Focus compared to Omnia 7 ?
It seems that some focus succeeded. It depends on the ROM and diagnose app you are using.
diagnoise v1122 works
rogers seems not working.
Have a try and good luck!
Mine is AT&T Focus with Diagnose v 0.929 and running Rogers ROM.
Out of topic :
Regarding Diagnose Tools, can we change the Diagnose tools with another version ???
Edit : Tried this, but I can't see the xml file from *#9908#.
There're 3 options :
- Gumi Test Bed
- Suwon2G Test Bed
- Suwon3G Test Bed
Damn ... I thought it would also worked on my Focus
i updated my post . see the last part "Problems and solutions" . But the xap file is still downloading...
EDIT: the Diagnosis.xap in attachment did't work, deleted.
I have a problem, i don't see any file under /My Documents/Zune/Content after i loaded unlock.xml in Pictures folder via USBenabler. I have only seven folders in Content folder, no files. Any clue?
Here an easier way to copy the unlock.xml to the OMNIA 7:
1. if you are still on build 7392 deploy the attached xap to your device
2. Browse with WP7 Root Tools to Applications\Install
3. Search for a folder which starts with D19A80F2-1717.....
=> there you will find the unlock.xml
4. copy the unlock.xml as described with WP7 Root Tools to the before created provxml\ folder
So you don´t need to copy the unlock.xml via USBStorageEnabler.
Cheers

You should look through every folder and sub-folder to find those 2 xml files.
The diagnose (v.1027) crashed as soon as I open GPRS screen.
What's SMS Unlock used for ?
Edit : It's just for copying the unlock.xml, lol
@contable
i don't have folder that starts with D19A80F2
I am trying now to find it with first method. If file is renamed it will keep .xml extension, right?
Tnx for replying so quickly everyone
After 1 hour's hard work, finally get my O7 mangoed and jailbreaked!

That is the folder I found it on my OMNIA 7. The file isn´t renamed after deploying the xap. If you don´t have such a folder just search in Applications\Install folder for unlock.xml.

No, the file name is totally changed.
mine is 7a.3z and 7c.3z
they are in the same folder and the folder has no other files in it.
Tested, it work on omnia7. I has more than 20 xap deployed on phone before mango and I can deploy other xap after upgrade to mango.
thank you !

Mango: How to edit registry

This is a trick to edit registry values στο mango update
Pre-requests:
1. Pre Mango - unlocked NODO with TouchExlorer side loaded
2. Last Connection Setup from marketplace
3. Update to Mango Beta unlocked
4. Backup ( Backup Phone before try )
HowTo:
1. Send file CustClear.provxml.txt from PC to some email so you can read it from the phone
2. From the phone open the Email, click to the attached file and it opens with Word,
click ... and choose save as... CustClear.provxml ( save to phone)
3. From TouchExplorer navigate to My Documents, there is the file CustClear.provxml.txt, rename to
CustClear.provxml ( C capital as here ), copy the file to Windows and replace if suggests
4. Reboot
5. Boot Phone and run ConnectionSetup at first
6. Reboot
if everything goes ok the registry values will have changed,
The attached file i give has the basic changes for unlock, 32bt fix, max unsigned apps
You can change what ever registry value you want.. i have changed Light Themes color to Grey
Who ever try post results and share your changes
Well done m8
Well done m8...and thanks for the info...
I test it and its working fine ...
and i have to add some more registry values to the pack
Code:
<characteristic type="HKLM\ControlPanel\Themes\0">
<parm name="PageBackgroundColor" value="#FF212121" datatype="string" />
<parm name="SysTrayBackgroundColor" value="#FF212121" datatype="string" />
</characteristic>
This one will change the white background in light theme to a dark grey
Code:
<characteristic type="HKLM\ControlPanel\Lock">
<parm name="DisableNever" value="0" datatype="integer" />
</characteristic>
and this one wiil add the never option in screen timeout (if its not allready there)
or you can just use schaps windows device manager and transfer the file into windows folder directly via the WDM(schaps app) while your currently on NODO, and then load mango onto phone.
When finished installing mango, goto market place download "connection setup" thats first thing you do, run connection setup follow on screen instructions (the connection setup looks for the CustClear.provxml file) and your done all your homebrew apps will work.
edit: add any reg keys you want into the CustClear.provxml and transfer it over using the app provided by schaps while in NODO.

Thats correct ..but the above method from viel will work and after mango update
Hi there, great solution, but, one question:
What to do if My market doesn´t find the Connection setup on Market ?
I have found it on Zune, but I don´t have an install button like in other apps.
Maybe is not avaiable for all the countries :S?
PD: Sorry for my bad English
serach connection setup not htc connection setup
You must have an HTC device for this. HTC Connection Setup is only on HTC devices. There was a hack somewhere that was a registry edit to change which OEM's market to show. You'll have to search for it though. Maybe if you're lucky, you can get it on Non-HTC device. No telling if it'd even work though.
[HOW TO] Get any OEM's Apps direct from the Marketplace on your Phone
So if I own an Omnia7 phone, I´m not able to test this ?
And what about it I try the Samsung "Network profile" app? Won´t be the same ?

Don't know if it uses the same file. The link I posted above shows how to edit the registry to make the Market think your device is an HTC device. No clue though if HTC's CS app will work on your device though. I'd test it first. make a tes CustClear.provxml with a registry value you can verified is being written like changing one of the accent colors say.

I dont know that ....but i think that samsung app its not reading provxml files ...
the trick here is that connection setup from htc can read and deploy any commands inside a provxml file.
Yeah, tanks for the link, I saw it, but since I´m in Mango I can not modify the registry for that too .
I´m not having time until Saturday or Sunday (Tuesday today here) to rollback and test that things .

If it works, let us know so other LG/Samsung users can do this too.
I was going to try a fast test but for now it´s impossible cuz when I try to open "Touchexplorer" an alert gets fired telling Microsoft has revoqued that app :S.
Umm...I would have to try in another way :\, hope I would have some time shortly

Your device is locked, that's why your getting that error.

That´s it.
That´s why I need some time in the weekend to rollback to 7004 and make the whole process to pass the unlock to nodo and mango.
What a hard life...jaja
I'm sure samsung can do this using the GPRS settings trick some of us used to keep dev unlock post mango.
There is a diag screen that gets you a GPRS settings screen that will display and execute an XML (not provxml) in a drop down list that is placed in the root of the phone in a folder called provxml.
I would have to hunt down my other post on how I kept dev unlock post mango to get all the info.
Custclear.provxml
Does anyone know how to put a custclear.provxml in the Windows directory of an already-Mangoed and unlocked phone? Can anyone tell me if it's even possible?
