Anyone knows if it is mandatory to have a three partitions layout (1gb + 0.3 gb + 0.1 swap) for data2ext based roms or if they will work also with just 1 ext partion? I tried to search the forums but I didn't find a definitive answer.
Thanks in advance
Just partition so, how it's described in the roms corresponding thread.
SwiftKeyed from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
I have 1 ext partition and using data2ext

I am looking at using custom MTD to give myself a bit (lot) of extra free space on /data and just wondering if someone with slightly more dev knowledge could check that it would indeed work for the desire hd.
By using this on MIUI you could end up with about 650Mb extra space on /data (400 from /system, 250 from /cache)

Hey this works on desire hd?
Hello, I have few questions,What is "d2w"? what are the differences between "d2w" and "data2ext"? what type of the partition they support? I originally use FAT32+EXT4 with data2ext, if I want to use "D2W", what should I do with my current partition, do I need to change it? thank you.
D2W = Data To Whatever.
Supports EXT partitions. Every ROM or Script description has the information how many partitions you need and if you need to change.
E.g. for MIUI D2W you can use your current setup.
thank you
Hello,
After i have runed well supercharger , i want to swap mi sdcard. But many kernels does not support this. And i get error via adb (applet not found) , i have a sense based rom (rcmix) wich has already by 100-150mb ram free , but i want to have swap , wich kernel works for that?
unity and rcmix3d kernel both support swap...
your problem must be something else. How did you create your swap partition? (means you first have to format your sdcard and create a swap partition)
maybe redownload the script
EDIT: and use the thanks button if people try to help you... (i saw you posted your problem in different threads)
I have partitioned the SD , i add i tryed with two different SD cards. And not working , the error seems is because the kernel does not support it

hm... never had problems with unity kernel (swap related), which version of unity do you use?
unity kernel v10 supports swap for sure
Ok solved , there was busybox version problem
Hi,
I'm thinking about which app2sd implementation for HTC Desire is the best. I know it depends on the ROM, but some solutions are more/less universal. Right now, I'm using CM7.1 ROM and I'm planning to try its clones (MildWild / Cibernodo Mod2Bravo) or ICS when will be final.
I'm using a microSD Sandisk Mobile Ultra 32GB, Class 6, partitioned with gParted (30GB fat32 + 1,5GB ext4).
I consider those options:
S2E (simple2ext) - probably the best solution for CM ROMs.
AMARULLZ DATA TO SD-EXT - for some people too laggy and problematic, Plus: System App Data + Dalvik in Internal, System App apk + 3rd party App Data & Apk on sd-ext
DarkTremmor A2SD Script - uses symbolic links as others. Some people reported problems too, some people are satisfied.
sibere's Data2SD - I tried with my old card (A-Data class6) , but I faced huge lags. Minus: complicated installation, no longer support for lates script for easy installation.
Proz0r's INT2SD For AOSP - no symlinks whatsoever, seems to be very good and fast. I faced some FCs after some time, but it was with old version. Minus: not universal - must be compiled for every single ROM independently.
Mounts2SD - I'm running right now, seems to be very good, fast and stable. Plus: still in development, aroma installer, lot of options, universality.
From my experiences: for the best performance (speed) is recommended to left dalvik cache in internal, and if possible also application data should stay in internal memory.
What are your experiences? What are the advantages /disadvantages of the concrete solutions according to you?
I am interested about stability (FCs, random restarts) and speed (lags)?
in my experience, s2e is the best for cm7, as it is built specifically for it. I found amarullz xscript too laggy and problematic, although I've heard that it has improved lately. I tried Proz0r's INT2SD but I found it unusable - extreme lag. sibere's Data2SD was ok for me. I would recommend sibere's d2sd out of the lot, except for cm7.

best so far, in my opinion: AD2SDX by amarullz (CM7r2 HBOOT)
Mounts2SD plays great with ICS.
Used s2e before
Thank you all for your replies .
I had new experience with Proz0r's INT2SD (with CM7.1) - from the beginning it was very good, but after few days I was facing FCs (force closes of many applications). Reboot helped just on short time.
Right now I decided to try Cibernodo's MOD of CM7 and I have these experience:
- with the S2E - I had again performance problem and not enough space.
- According to discussion, there were some problems also with DarkTremmor A2SD
- so I'm trying AMARULLZ solution.
I will report the performance/stability after some time.
Can i use ad2sdx for mildwild or cm7 nightly rom? If yes, where can i get that?

Don't know if you can use it (just make backup and try it). But here you have the thread:

@siavash2death: i think it will work without problem (as i'm using it also with Cibernodo ROM based on CM7 nightly), but make a backup for sure.
BTW: link is also in my first post and my signature...
Hello,
I have just tested most of the custom roms (wildchild3, Kim's Mod, WhateverMod etc) comes with DUST V9 Overclocked Kernel. I used MiniPartitionTool and created (1gb Ex2 Primary, 512Mb Swap, 2.5GB Fat32 Primary Active).
All of the above Rom builds mentioned that they support SWAP partition. I just want to know that do i need any apk to Configure SWAP or those custom roms comes with pre-configured Swap support. Is there a tool to see swap stats?
