Hi,
I had some problems with the Text to Speech app.
At first, when I was opening Google Navigation, it was saying that it needs to download text-to-speech, and if I clicked "Skip" it would just navigate with out talking, just making a tone sound every turn.
But if I was clicking the "Install" which suppose to download and install a TTS app that could read out loud the streets name, so instead, it gave an error message of "Sorry the application Maps (process com.google.android.apps.maps) has stopped unexpectedly."
So I tried to solve it out and went to Settings>Voice in&out put> Text-to-Speech Settings, But When I pressed on it, it gave me the same error message of the "sorry the app .... crashed"
So I understand the problem is here so I went to Titanium Backup and uninstalled it (unfortunately didn't backup), the "TTS Service 2.3.3" app.
But now when I go to Google Navigation and make a destination, it crashes immediately with no question of installing the TTS, and no option to navigate..
What shell I do now? I tried to reinstall the Google Maps, ain't working.
Does anyone got this TTS Service 2.3.3 and could he send me it?
I can't find it on market or google search. :\
I am using Ginger bread 2.3.3
ROM: Virtuous Unity 1.29.0 (Ace)
Thanks,
Yarden.
I'm having a similar problem. Trying to use anything with TTS force closes, sometimes it just force closes the TTS app (installed via an apk) and sometimes it crashes the app calling it.
A market search yields nothing relevant and a direct link to it in the market will show the "Not Supported" message.

Hi, I am also having the same issue as above. Any application that uses Text to Speech force closes on me - including the settings menu for voice input and output. I'm using Android Revolution 6.1.3 ROM. Does anyone have any solutions for this at all please? I have tried installing numerous TTS engines but to no avail. Thanks in advance
Get an app that can show you your installed apps (e.g. Titanium Backup). Search for these apps:
* Pico TTS
* TTS Service
* TTS Service Extended
* Voice Search
My guess is that you don't have that second app, TTS Service, installed.
Let me know which of those is on your phone.
I assume you're using the Desire HD/Inspire 4G, yes?

I'll post it later tonight. You can probably find it through Google.
Sorry I took so long w/this. Caught a bug last night; still under the weather.
Backup before you install this. No guarantees it'll work.

Just having this issue after install Synergy. Anytime I try to use Voice Search it crashes:
The application Voice search (process com.google.android.voicesearch) has stopped unexpectedly.
Anyone else having this issue that has the Synergy rom loaded?
Thanks.
I've had Synergy since it came out and voice in all applications work unless I'm in the car going over 10mph.
Try going to settings > Voice Input > Text To Speech Settings > Install Voice Data
If you haven't already.
Thanks for the response HipKat but unfortunately that did not work, think maybe it was just an issue during install and I should try again?
Every time I open navigation I'm prompted with this message:
Voice Guidance
For voice-guided navigation, you need to install text-to-speech support from teh Android Market.
When I hit install I'm given these options:
Complete action using
IVONA Text-to-Speech HQ
Manage Google Text-to-speech voice data
When I open using IVONA it takes me to IVONA's page and asks me to install a voice (which I already have and works great if I choose to skip this nonsense).
When I open using the second option (manage google...) I'm given this option:
"Download this data to support speech synthesis on your device.
No downloadable voices
How do I get this prompt to stop? Voice guided nav is working just fine so why is it telling me to install this every time I open the app?
Anybody?
I have the same problem...anyone find a solutions?
May not be your issue, but check your settings /language & input / text to speech and be sure you select a default.
You need to enable it. I think its with the keyboard settings.

Unless the settings are elsewhere everything in the keyboard settings are enabled. Like I said, the voice navigation is working fine despite the prompt
Solved
I had the same problem, the dialog-box kept prompting and asking for download.
But when I did the following changes, it stopped and everything worked fine.
Settings ----> Language and Input ----> Text-to-Speech output -----> preferred TTS engine
by default "Samsung TTS" was selected. I changed it to "Google Text-to-Speech Engine" .
Once I made the above change , the Navigation worked fine without any download prompts.
By the way ,my device details are as follows.
Galaxy Note N7000
Android 4.0.3 Stock ROM
Hope it helps
Hello everybody,
i usually use a lot Google Maps and i've always been annoyed by this thing: i've installed IVONA Text-to-Speech HQ (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ivona.tts) (which i suggest because it's great) as my default TTS Engine, but Google Voice keeps switching between Ivona and his internal TTS (the Google one, i think).
So, 10 phrases are said by IVONA, 2 or 3 by Google, and so on for all the trip.
I hate it, mostly because the Google TTS can't spell (italian) road names and gives only vague informations.
I've even tried to freeze Pico-TTS with Titanium, but it doesn't change a thing.
Any suggestions?

Noone else has any idea?
hey everyone
i am currently trying to get the okay google everywhere function to work. i am running a hispasian 4.4.4 rom which works great. i have tried the tricks posted online and i get nothing.
i am running the 3.6.14 version of google now and google play store 4.9
on my google now app it shows okay google detection in the settings and when i click that all i get is the from google search app ( say okay google to start a voice search from the app).
but when i back out of that i have the audio history feature which says required for features such as using ok google to start a voice search from any screen. i have that feature turned on.
i dont know if im doing somethin wrong or if my play store needs to be updated or what?
thanks
- dan

I'm running the same version of google now. From the "OK Google" Detection screen, there should be 3 option boxes. Sounds like you only have the 1st one, From Google Search App. You're missing From Any Screen and From Lock Screen. Maybe uninstall and reinstall Voice.
From Any Screen messes up my voice (chipmunk like) in programs like Skype. So it might not be a big loss for you.
Hello,
I have imported this phone from China, and besides the CN bloatware, I cannot get Google Contacts and Google Maps (and Maps Go) work. Contacts does not sync any contacts, and Maps crashes on app start. The phone is fully updated and rebooted.
Originally the China version comes without Google Play and its required subsystem, so I wonder if I can update Google Play manually to hopefully fix all issues .. ? The seller, a big online exporter, installed Google Play before shipping.
Many thanks,
Pummelchen
hi
i'm going to buy this phone i'm from italy. actually i ve mi 10s with their incredible speakers( i'm going to put eu rom for that)
before buy i'm worried some google apps don't work, how can i add languages, whatsapp notification only when wake up? lots of thing
can you help me to decide because of that. some video shows playstore is installable even on joy ui 12.5 that block google services
thanks
The hardware part is incredible, as it's the fastest Android phone as of 2021-04.
The Google Services install app has been removed from the Xiaomi store, which sux.
Some sellers put the Google Play store on the phone to ease customer experience, but it's a buggy experience. For me, Google Maps did not load and Google Contacts does not sync my GMail contacts.
Currently I follow this guideline to install Google Services manually. Its a bit of a "hacking experience" to get this phone working ..
I'm sharing my experience with you as the "Google Map" crashed at launch & GPS doesn't location with me earlier. In the end, I made them both work. I found that the "Gmail account" at Google Map cause the crash at the launch.
To avoid Google Map crash at launch::-
1) Turn off your wireless/mobile data > Access Google map offline
2) Go to setting > Sign-out from your account > close the app > Go to app info & clear data
3) Turn on your wireless/mobile data > re-open Google Maps online.
BK4pro "Network location" apk came without permission privileges, so you must download another one to control GPS location with permission in order to run Google Map/Sygic/Duo ... GPS relevant apps:
1) Install "Network location" v1.0.0.apk by "Google LLC"
2) Give permission as described in the picture attachment. (optional step)
Hope it works for you!!
