even if there is an OS leak, may need a firmware update for it hence carriers and OEM needed
as far as any upload I will be shocked if 7720 is leaked
although sending a wireshark could prove more effective

Sniff....Sniff....starting to smell BS.... a 4 post user claiming he's got something that everyone wants when it's claimed that MS is upgrading phones, not giving the software to users to update.
Maybe it's me but, I kind of feel it's a "longshot" that he acutally has it.

The weekend is not yet finished. So, I see no reasons to get upset.
And anyway, they might have really started to roll-out, as HTC Germany says.

This. IIRC it was only Germany and NL that "officially" announced it was coming, so nobody else has the right to ***** anyway if it doesnt.
If I wanted to be treated like this I would have bought a iPhone.

What limited would that be, and because as far as i'm aware the limit is hardware - the Dell Streak running 1.6 has 2gb available for apps storage.

I really think some people need to step away from the internet and go out and have some fun. If it's here when you get back then you can install; if it's not then not.
Surely an update to your mobile phone can not be the most important thing in your lives...
Not in the least bothered really when it comes, today, tomorrow, next week.
I already have Froyo and its running sweet.
How many stupid Desire users does it take to screw in a lightbulb ?
The be honest I am more irritated by dumb-fu-ks who have more time than brain cells and have to whinge about everything including the firmware release of a completely functional mobile phone. Even worse is the fact that two mouse clicks away is another section of the forum where they could easily download and run about a dozen versions of Android 2.2 hacked/packed/delivered with all the bells and whistles.
So people put the fu-king phone down, chill out, go outside and take a breath of fresh air. You will live longer ....
THE UPDATE WILL COME WHEN IT COMES..... Jumping up and down about it, checking the OTA update on the phone every 2 microseconds and making another 1.4 billion new threads won't make it appear any faster...
Next instalment in the new pointless thread forum - "I fu-ked up my phone when updating the OTA ! Help !!!", "Why won't the HTC OTA work on my Orange/Virgin/crap branded Desire" and my favourite "What's an OTA", oh and another "Anyone got Froyo Update?" (speak of the devil http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=741397 )

you do have a point here. but: why do you get so angry?
you accuse them of having nothing else to do than wait for the froyo release. yet, you fail to convey this in an appropriate manner: In order to make them realize that they are poor souls (whose sole purpose in life is a phone software update), you better tell them in a way they don't perceive as *****ing and hating.
however, the way you get all angry about them raises the suspicion that you yourself have little else to do in your free time. complaining about them doesn't help anyone!

They say the rom can only be flashed once by a dev once it's downloaded. I wonder if that's going to be a problem for some dev teams.
I'm curious about how much security Microsoft has put into this, and how it's gonna work. If it's an image, we can extract it. If it's one of those CAB-based updates, we can.. obtain it. But here's my guess-Microsoft probably added some serious security, given as they know what we attempt, and there may very well be some activation involved in this.
Anyone who gets it install wanna comment?
Actually the big issue for me, when I read the mile long remarks you have to accept to get it is this:
you can't update to the final Mango without rolling back first to the backup you do now.
So when final Mango will come out, I will lose all my sms, game progress, etc I got from now to this winter. I'm not sure I'd like to that
Did anyone of you already get a email by Connect?
I am registered via Dreamspark and didn't get a mail yet.
Do only the paying people getting the update and students not?

That doesn't sound too logical to me, but will try it as soon as I get the email.
EDIT: It's true. Update up to 10 (3 for students), get one replaced if something goes wrong.
It makes perfect sense to me — they'll only replace one phone per account if the update bricks your phone. But if you're willing to take the risk, you can update more phones.

I will be in my office from 8 also. If this is true then i will either get to update via zune at work or will have to wait till i get home and roll back to nodo before upgrading.
That would really be awesome, but keep in mind there was only one "trusted source" for this information.
Even if this trusted source comes from within Vodafone Germany, this is still not a confirmation since the rollout will actually be initiated by Microsoft and Vodafone is only responsible for testing.
Also September 21st is not Fall yet and joe belfiore tweeted a link to a website stating September 23rd as the start of fall.
That being said, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. The good thing about this rumor is that we will find out in due time.
Its not fall yet.. i got a tweet from twitter hero telling me 23 sep is fall.. and i was like 'you better not send another tweet before that and ya betta release it on sep 23.'
... aaaaand Sept 21st is NOW in australia and there's been no word (ok, it's only 10:15am but still)
I think the updates are pushed out by Microsoft. The previous updates I have received for my DVP have been released at 10am Pacific US time (i.e. Microsoft time ). If it follows the same pattern, you may have a slightly longer wait to find out whether your update is coming today. Feel free to keep checking though, just in case
Also, plugging your phone into your PC (via USB) seems to be the most reliable way of checking if an update is available. The Zune software will alert you if an update is available.

This was a story cooked up entirely by wpcentral, nothing to do with microsoft. They reiterated recently that the update will come in fall, not here yet. Blame the site blatantly looking for hits.
